  • 12/23/2025· STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Kia has a known ICCU issue with several of their electric vehicles. Mine went out yesterday creating an extremely dangerous situation on the road. After it blew, I lost the ability to accelerate or steer. This was obviously very scary for me and the drivers around me. I feel very lucky to have not been hit by another car. Although Kia is replacing these, this does not guarantee a fix. That is to say, the ICCU has the potential to blow again after replaced because the core issue is not something that Kia group has reengineered. I should not have to fear getting into my vehicle and wonder if it will blow again. I hope the government steps in and conducts an investigation into this. It’s only a matter of time before someone, unfortunately, will lose a life over this.

  • 12/18/2024· SERVICE BRAKES

While driving in the rain, the vehicle failed to decelerate and brake efficiently. There were two event this morning (12/18/24). 1. Approaching a red light with Regen braking set to lvl 3 the car failed to slow after removing my foot from the accelerator. Quickly i began applying braking force with the brake pedal, but there was no change in the vehicles speed. Finally I firmly forced the brake pedal to the floor and the car came to a quick stop with ABS kicking in. Thinking that some of the sensors may have been affected by the wet road conditions, i disabled regen/ self braking. 2. With regen set to zero I began approaching slower traffic in a bend on the highway. When i saw brake lights ahead i began to brake and the pedal did not respond. It wasn't firm, nor soft just "regular". Knowing that i had distance to avoid collision, i let off the brake then applied again. This time-still nothing. I'm running out of space now so I quickly jab the brakes, activating abs, and avoiding the rear end of the pickup in front of me. I have yet to take the car to the dealership as they don't open until 9am (currently 7:44 am). I fear that they will not be able to replicate problem unless it is still raining when i arrive.

I am reporting suspected odometer fraud and misreported mileage/VIN/title data by Greenway Kia North (Longwood, FL) involving my 2024 Kia EV6 GT-Line (VIN: [XXX] ) and my 2017 Audi Q5 trade-in. These actions appear to violate the Federal Odometer Act (49 U.S.C. § 32705 and 327 and Florida title/odometer laws. After attempts to resolve the matter, I issued a rescission and statutory-demand notice on Nov. 8; the dealer provided no adequate response. Title/Registration Misrepresentation: My Audi Q5 (dark blue) was submitted to FLHSMV as “Monsoon Gray.” The EV6 (Aurora Black Pearl) was submitted as “Blue.” I verbally corrected both errors at signing; the dealer ignored them, and the false data was transmitted to the State and later reported through Carfax. This indicates intentional or reckless submission, not clerical error. Odometer Fraud: The dealer certified 131 miles on the Odometer Disclosure Statement, though I informed them the mileage was higher. Post-purchase evidence shows the certification was false. Documented travel from Dec 29–Jan 4 totals ~546 miles. Charging records (49.2 kWh on Dec 30; 63 kWh on Jan 2) indicate regular use inconsistent with a 131-mile vehicle. On Jan 4, the dashboard displayed 965 miles; Carfax recorded 1,206 miles. If delivery mileage were truly 131, the vehicle would show ~677 miles minimum—yet readings were 965–1,206 miles, proving the EV6 had approximately 413–660 miles at delivery. Willfulness Indicators: I verbally corrected mileage and color errors; the dealer ignored the corrections, submitted false disclosures, and provided only a thumb drive instead of paper contracts, preventing immediate verification. Carfax confirms incorrect DMV data originated from dealer submissions. Requested NHTSA Action: Investigate for violations of the Federal Odometer Act, audit the dealer’s odometer/title practices for a possible pattern, pursue civil/criminal enforcement if warranted, and refer to DOJ as appropriate. • 11/28/2024· POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Description of Incident: 1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The high-voltage battery system and charging system in my 2024 Kia EV6 malfunctioned. Despite showing 40 miles of range remaining, the battery suddenly dropped to 5 miles before the car became completely unresponsive and failed to charge. Additionally, the vehicle could not be shifted into neutral or powered on. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The sudden loss of battery range left me stranded at a Shell Recharge station in Elkridge, MD, at [XXX] on[XXX]. Being stranded at this hour posed a personal safety risk, especially in an unfamiliar area, as I was unable to move the vehicle. Moreover, the malfunction could endanger drivers if such a failure occurred while driving. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The problem has not yet been reproduced or confirmed, but I previously reported symptoms of 12-volt battery issues to the dealership on November 12, 2024, one day after receiving the vehicle. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer or any other representatives. I am awaiting guidance on next steps from Kia and the dealership. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, I noticed warning signs related to the 12-volt battery on November 12, 2024, shortly after receiving the vehicle on November 11, 2024. However, no specific warning lamps or error messages appeared at the time of the failure. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I've had to have my rental car jumped 3 times now, the check engine light has been on since I rented it, had to be reset and is now back on. I believe it's the 12v battery, it pops up warnings of battery discharge almost daily. All 3 times it was shut off and when I went to start it, it wouldn't turn on, 3 seperate people have jumped it for me now in 3 different locations, the last one being while I was working and had to end the delivery because my car would not start so I am now unable to work as they have paused my deliveries until my account is reviewed. I am putting the first date I noticed the check engine light, which was the day I rented the vehicle. The not starting has happened on the following dates: [XXX], [XXX] and today [XXX]. I recall noticing the battery discharge warning for the first time around the beginning of Oct, maybe closer to mid October. I rented it from hertz Uber rentals in Phoenix, AZ so I could work doing deliveries and rides. I have had it jumped twice in Phoenix and once in Prescott, AZ. The exterior rear-view mirrors on my car do not have detents to hold them in place in the deployed position. All side-view mirrors have such detents. The mirror assembly is held in place such that the mirrors remain aimed where the driver sets them. If the mirror experiences a significant force from, say a person walking into them, the detent releases and the mirror folds back against the car, avoiding damage. On my car and other affected cars, these detents are not present and the force of closing the car doors, wind from high-speed driving, or even a bumpy road can cause the mirrors to move from their intended position, causing the driver to misjudge the position of other vehicles, an obvious safety hazard. Posts on online forums dating back to 2022 report this issue, and by simply examining mirrors on a reasonable-sized sample of Kia Ev6s, it's obvious that this is a widespread issue. Online posters have reported that Kia dealers have denied the existence of the issue by claiming that "it's designed to be this way." My own dealer also made such a claim. I was unable to find a single vehicle, Kia or otherwise, other than 8 samples of EV6s that exhibited this behavior. This defect appears to only affect EV6s that do not have electrically-folding mirrors.

The car went on the side walk, and descended on the road from the side walk and crossed the road, climbed on the curb again and stopped on the grassy area. Side airbag on the driver side inflated and the drive seatbelt tightened.

When washing my car at an automated car wash my brakes failed when exiting the facility. When the wash was completed it gave me the approval to leave. I tapped on the gas pedal to get the car moving slowly. The car started to move down the ramp and when I applied the brakes there was no response. I pumped the brakes several times but they did not engage. I tried to hit the parking brake and shift into reverse and nothing happened. I finally had no choice but to hit a wall to keep from hitting a vehicle. I did contact the dealership and they were non responsive. They indicated they had never heard of a wet brake issue on this vehicle. I provided them with several statements from the EV6 Forum. My vehicle had less than 600 miles on the odometer.

Brakes failed with unintened acceleration. We were stopped behind a truck at a stoplight when the the vehicle accelerated with a foot on the brake. We had it towed from the scene of the accident to our local dealership for testing. They had the vehicle for 4 weeks. Kia customer care was not responsive to our calls and emails or the dealerships. The dealership could not confirm the cause without their cooperation. The police were called to the scene of the accident and there is a report. The vehicle has been looked over by the service department at our local Kia lot. It was appraised for cost of damages by the collision center.

Car was totally dead even with a 68% charge. AAA came out to jump start. The next day while driving on the highway the car started to lose power. A red warning to check the electrical system came on along with "turtle mode". I was able to pull over off the highway, grateful the two small children were not with me. Car was towed to dealer who kept it for the three days. Only after repeated calling could I reach someone who said they couldn't reproduce the problem. I'm afraid to drive the car at this point as I feel it's just unsafe to do so. This seems to be an ongoing issue that Kia can't seem to fix.

  • 07/15/2026· WHEELS

Rear tires on my 2024 Kia EV6 wore down to the tire wear-bar limit (2/32" remaining tread) at approximately 19,500 miles, while the front tires on the same vehicle measured roughly double that remaining tread (4/32") at the same odometer reading. The factory-installed tires are rated by the manufacturer for approximately 50,000 miles of tread life under normal use, so reaching the wear-out point on the rear tires alone at roughly 39% of that rated mileage is well outside expected wear for this vehicle at this mileage. This is not an isolated event: numerous other EV6 owners have independently reported the same front-to-rear wear disparity and premature rear tire wear online, across different driving styles and regions, which points to a vehicle characteristic (front/rear torque split, alignment or camber specification, or suspension geometry) rather than individual driver behavior. Uneven, accelerated rear tire wear reduces traction and increases stopping distance, and raises the risk of hydroplaning, tread separation, or blowout, particularly in wet weather, since the rear tires lose effective grip well before the front tires or before a typical maintenance interval would flag it. The wear was confirmed and documented, including tread-depth measurements at all four corners, by an independent third-party vehicle condition inspection performed at lease return. There were no dashboard warning lights or driver-facing alerts indicating the wear; it was only discovered through physical tread-depth measurement at that inspection. The tires inspection results are available upon request. This appears to reflect a design or specification issue affecting the vehicle's rear tires disproportionately, rather than a manufacturing defect isolated to one tire.

Multiple times the 12V battery has died without warning. Once in driveway while engine was charged to 93%, once while parked at work parking lot at charging station. Both times the car had to be jumped by AAA and driven to the dealership where it sat for 7 days each time with NO diagnosis, no loaner, no rental, and no transport. Finally after the second time, the dealership replaced the 12V battery but still did not give any diagnosis whether this was the ICCU or not. I have complained to KIA Motor Corporation who have advanced my complaint however they have eventually dismissed my complaint. They cannot answer me whether they believe this car is safe. They cannot stand by the safety of this car. They have not acknowledged that this is a safety problem and that other motorists have had similar battery failures while driving on the highway and in other unsafe areas.

  • 06/23/2025· UNKNOWN OR OTHER

There is a safety issue with the specific implementation of the regenerative braking system when the car is put into reverse that I have experienced on several occasions. This is not a failure or malfunction of the system as it is working as intended nor are there any warning messages or alerts to signify a defect. The way Kia's system works is that regenerative braking is always on (like all EVs), but at a level you set from 1-4, with 4 being the most aggressive. I leave it on level 4(i-pedal) because I prefer one-pedal driving which I find to be more comfortable and safer. When the car is parked, or at a complete stop, if I put the car into reverse then the regenerative braking level is forced down to level 3. This creates a novel situation where regenerative braking is holding the parked car in place, but also the car won't move until the acceleration pedal is pressed. So I need to tap the accelerator then quickly move my foot to the brake pedal to stop the car which takes a couple of seconds. This causes the car to lurch backwards quickly until my foot reaches the brake pedal because Level 3 is not aggressive enough to bring the car to a complete stop in a short distance. Once I have held down the brakde pedal I can use that to slowly reverse more safely. I haven't hit anyone or anything yet, but I have had a few close calls from cars or pedestrians suddenly appearing from outside my view range at the same time I'm doing that initial reverse lurch. If someone were slower than me or have some physical hindrance that didn't allow them to move their foot quickly then it would be more likely the car may accidentally reverse into a person or car before the driver could respond. Being that regenerative braking is still engaged while reversing it should be a simple software change to allow for level 4 to be enabled thus eliminating the initial reverse lurch issue.

  • 06/02/2026· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/LOW VOLTAGE BATTERY, PROPULSION system:Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) Description: This vehicle previously had the mandated safety recall software update (Campaign SC327) applied by an authorized Kia dealership in December 2024 to protect the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The corporate recall remedy failed. In January 2026, the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic loss of motive power while driving on a public roadway due to a total ICCU failure, which created an immediate hazard for myself and my young child who was inside the vehicle. When the primary ICCU component failed, it starved the low-voltage system, causing severe deep-discharge damage to the 12V battery. Following the warranty repair of the ICCU in February 2026, the vehicle was returned to me. However, Kia's official corporate diagnostic and repair procedures for this defect are fundamentally flawed and incomplete; they do not mandate a comprehensive load-test or automatic replacement of the 12V battery following an ICCU collapse. Because of this failure in the official repair procedures, the vehicle was returned to service with a critically compromised low-voltage system. This directly resulted in recurring battery warning messages over the subsequent months, culminating on May 29, 2026, in a secondary, total 12V battery failure that completely bricked the vehicle. The failure of the manufacturer's official safety recall remedy and the subsequent inadequacy of their post-failure service protocol left this vehicle in a chronically un-roadworthy and unsafe condition.

No waring lights were illuminated. No police report was filed. The contact was the only passenger during the collision. The contact suffered a sever neck issue and is not able to move his neck to the right, has chest pain and shoulder pain on both sides, and a head injury. Medical treatment is need but has not gotten any due to insurance issues. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. • 04/27/2026· POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

2024 Kia EV6 leased January 2025. Vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall 24V-867 / Kia campaign SC327 for the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The recall remedy was performed at an authorized Kia dealer in July 2025 (software / operational logic update). The defect was not cured. Three months after the recall remedy was performed, the vehicle suffered complete loss of electrical power and would not move. It was towed to the Kia dealer. The dealer's own diagnostic recorded code P1A9096 — the exact diagnostic code Kia's recall instructs technicians to check for — and replaced the ICCU and high-voltage fuse. This is the recall-defined failure occurring AFTER the recall remedy was applied. Approximately three months later, the vehicle again suffered total loss of power and would not start in cold weather. It was towed in. The dealer replaced only the 12-volt battery and did not address the ICCU, despite the documented prior ICCU failure on this VIN. The 12V battery failure is a known downstream symptom of ICCU failure on this platform. Approximately one month after that, the vehicle returned for charging system failure ("vehicle charges briefly then stops") and a "check electrical/hybrid system" warning that appeared while driving. Diagnosed as charging port failure. Vehicle was out of service approximately 27 consecutive days. Total cumulative days out of service across four visits: approximately 35-40. Two safety-related stranding incidents resulted from these failures. Both occurred in winter conditions in Pennsylvania. In the first, the driver was stranded in a parking lot at night during a snowstorm in sub-zero conditions; three tow trucks were dispatched before a flatbed could recover the vehicle because the EV could not be towed conventionally with no power. In the second, the vehicle died in a school parking lot during a snowstorm; the first dispatched tow truck could not recover an EV with no power, and the driver had to walk multiple miles home in freezing

No sounds other than the normal backing up beeping. Proximity alert did not ping. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The safety feature of collision avoidance and emergency breaking did not work. No, the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. No, the vehicle component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representative or other. The police were called to the scene, they just looked at the damage on both vehicles. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. They only appeared once on the day of the accident. I can confirm the backup collision avoidance worked after the incident since the emergency breaking stopped my car in a parking lot after the incident of the failure.

I also tried it again on 4/17/26; and the heat was higher faster than it was on 4/15/26; so I hav disconnected the device and installed a new one. The electrician noted that the breaker was damaged and had to be replaced. I also recall, that a few months after the initial install of the charger, there was an incident where my wife saw sparks in the garage from the breaker and we heard a large pop; and then the charger went out. I had just finished charging the vehicle overnight on a Level 2 charger at a family members home. After leaving the driveway and driving a few hundred feet, an error message showed on the vehicle screen saying "Check Electric Vehicle" system, and then later a second message that said to stop the vehicle. I immediately turned the car around parked it in the driveway again and called roadside assistance to have it towed to the Kia service center. The Kia service center confirmed that it was an ICCU (integrated charging control unit) failure, which they replaced 4-5 days later after ordering the part. These error messages were the first and only indicator of the problem, there were no smaller issues leading up to the issue. Because the failure happened within a block of a family member's home, I was able to get to safety. But it could have been a completely different situation had the failure occurred even a few minutes later when I was on the freeway.

There are alot of electrical malfunctions including unnecessary and without warning emergency breaking that has injured me ( I temporarily have a rental car to recover from a right thoracic sprain, left hip contusion, and a right anterior chest contusion- I have medical documentation), the steering wheel jerking when no correction needed, the vehicle locking up on the tow truck driver, and a lot of different electrical malfunctions that seem to indicate a bigger problem. I have more evidence, but it would not let me submit more pictures.

Was backing out of a parking lot space when a loud popping sound was heard from the right rear portion of the car. Shortly after a check electrical system message was displayed and to pull over. Then eventually had a power limited message pop up after 12V battery charging status/condition was checked by roadside service. Would turn out to be the ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) after dealership nearby (Peak Kia) was able to diagnose the problem. Unknown if the failed part is available for inspection. I wouldn't say my safety or others safety was put at immediate risk, but could have been since the car did eventually completely shut down right as I was able to get home only about 1-2 miles away. Vehicle was seen by dealership a few days later and as far as I'm aware are the only entity to do an inspection on the vehicle. No prior warning of any kind before the ICCU failed, and car had complied with all recalls that were supposed to prevent or at least reduce chances of ICCU issues.

After starting the car, a message displayed on dashboard "Check Electrical System." I tried driving the car out of the garage and then a message displayed to the effect of "Stop the car and check battery." I called the dealer and they said to have the car towed to them. After having the car towed to the dealer, they ended up replacing the Integrated Charging Control System (ICCU) and fuse. The danger is that the failure of this ICCU part could cause immediate loss of power when driving. Luckily, that didn't happen to me since I was only creeping slowly out of my garage.

Was trying to drive EV. As soon as I pulled out of driveway it gave me a warning sign; to check electrical system/stop vehicle and check power supply. I couldn't drive car anywhere, had to get it towed to dealership. When tow truck arrived we couldn't turn car on, it had no power. Mind you, I had full charge on EV.

    * Per paperwork from the car dealer, the ICCU failed along with a 3way valve assembly and a fuse blew. * While driving, the car went into a limp mode greatly limiting its maximum speed. * I was afraid to continue driving it and had the car towed to the KIA dealership. * It took exactly a month for it to be repaired. * The dealership kept the failed parts. * No warning lamps until the failure occurred. * When the failure happened a warning message stated "Check electric vehicle system!" and a battery symbol turned red. *Since it was taking what seemed like a long time for repair, I contacted Kia-Customer-Care and they assigned case number 25902713.

I had just left my house and pulled onto a 5 lane road when the ICCU died. The car lost power while underway. This posed great danger as the vehicle became unable to safely navigate traffic and pull off to safety. Kia is well aware of this hardware problem, tried to fix it with software updates, and deflates the affected number of vehicles. To make matters worse, they tried to deny this was a recall because they claimed the recall was fixed via the software update. This affects every single Kia Hyundai and Genesis EV.

8 days after purchase from dealer, new vehicle, it went into "zombie" mode. Electrical system for radio, climate, lights, etc. all worked but it wouldn't come out of park or neutral. The online app kept saying there were no mechanical problems even though it was "dead in the water" and couldn't be moved. Then the electronic parking brake engaged so it could not be towed. It had less than 400 miles, had been working fine in the prior 7 days. Stopped at Home Depot, when I came out it entered zombie mode, and it couldn't be moved or put into gear. Even though it was in neutral at times the electronic parking brake kept it from moving. I was told today it was a "front inverter" and Kia had to approve repairing it????

The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) of my KIA EV6 failed. When putting the car into reverse to leave my workplace, I heard a fuse pop and a notification appeared on dashboard screen saying "Check electric vehicle system". This is a known recall issue that I was aware could happen, and in which case the car will soon become completely inoperable, so I didn't risking driving further. I had it towed to the nearest KIA dealership, where they confirmed the ICCU had failed and replaced it at no charge under the warranty coverage. There were no warnings or symptoms prior to the failure. I was fortunate that it did not fail while I was driving.

I purchased this vehicle just over a year ago as a CPO model with only 8,000 miles on it. It now has just over 23,000 miles. In this short time of ownership, it has been back to the dealership 3 separate times for serious EV system issues. The first visit involved a software update intended to correct a 12-volt charging issue that could prevent the vehicle from charging and potentially cause ICCU failure. Shortly after that update, the 12-volt battery failed, despite being <18 months into service, completely bricking the vehicle and leaving me stranded waiting for a tow. The battery was replaced under warranty. Less than 2 months later, while >30 miles from home, the vehicle displayed a “Check Electrical System Failure” warning. I was able to limp-mode the car back to the dealership. I am now being told that the main EV battery has failed and must be replaced, possibly also the ICCU. The dealership cannot provide a firm timeline for repairs; parts availability could mean anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months without the vehicle. This pattern of failures raises serious concerns about the reliability and safety of the EV6. Repeated electrical system issues create a very real risk of being stranded unexpectedly, potentially in unsafe situations such as on the side of a highway. To date, I have already lost four days of use due to service repairs, and I now face being without the vehicle for an extended and uncertain period. While a loaner vehicle is being provided, I will incur fuel expenses at a time of rising gas prices, undermining the financial rationale for purchasing an EV. Meanwhile, I continue making payments on a vehicle I cannot use, which is depreciating in value. I understand that new technology carries some risk. However, despite prior updates and even a model refresh, the ICCU issue appears unresolved, and Kia does not seem to have a clear root cause identified. For a vehicle marketed on innovation and dependability, this experience has indicated otherwise.

The driver (my wife) was operating the Kia EV6 (with approximately 10,000 miles) when the vehicle suddenly experienced a severe loss of motive power. While driving, a warning message appeared on the dashboard indicating an issue with the power supply. Immediately after, the vehicle forced itself into "turtle mode," severely restricting the maximum speed to 20 mph and refusing to accelerate further. This sudden, unexpected deceleration on an active roadway put the driver at a significant risk of a rear-end collision. The driver managed to slowly navigate the vehicle back to our residence at a maximum speed of 20 mph, which was extremely hazardous. Shortly after safely parking at the residence, the vehicle experienced a complete electrical failure. It would no longer start, could not be shifted into neutral, and ultimately had to be dragged onto a flatbed tow truck by roadside assistance because the wheels were locked. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Kia dealership, where it is currently undergoing diagnosis and inspection for what is heavily suspected to be a total failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) and 12-volt battery system. The vehicle and the failed components are currently at the dealership and are available for inspection upon request. Note: This catastrophic power loss occurred just weeks after the vehicle was in the shop for nearly a month to have its entire high-voltage battery pack replaced due to severe range degradation, marking the second major electrical system failure on this vehicle.

The vehicle had an electric supply failure, suggesting a failed ICCU. This left me stranded and requiring a tow. The issue is not uncommon in this vehicle but there is no recall. Kia and Hyundai need to get this right rather than keep repairing these when they adhoc fail.

Vehicle Information: 2024 Kia EV6 (VIN: [XXX] ) Mileage at time of failure: 14,005 Complaint Description: My 2024 Kia EV6 experienced a complete failure of the 12-volt battery system despite the high-voltage traction battery showing approximately 80% state of charge. The vehicle became completely inoperable without warning. The 12-volt battery was fully discharged and the vehicle would not enter READY mode. The vehicle required a jump start to become operational. After being jump started, the 12-volt system did not appear to charge properly, suggesting a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), which is responsible for converting high-voltage battery power to maintain the 12-volt battery. This failure created a significant safety concern because: The vehicle became completely disabled without warning. This failure occurred while driving in heavy traffic, it created a hazardous situation. The vehicle’s electrical systems, including safety systems, depend on the 12-volt battery. There are known reports of ICCU failures in Kia and Hyundai electric vehicles that result in identical symptoms (sudden 12-volt battery discharge despite adequate traction battery charge). This suggests a potential systemic defect rather than normal battery wear. I am filing this complaint due to concern that this issue represents a broader safety defect affecting multiple vehicles and may require investigation or expanded recall action. The ICCU failed while I was driving my car on a 50 mph road. Check electrical system warning lights appeared. Maximum speed was reduced to 19mph and my car became a road hazard for other cars on the road. I managed to pull off the road once I found a safe spot. After visiting the Kia dealership, the problem was confirmed as a failed ICCU (Integrated Charging and Control Unit) and replaced under warranty. No problems appeared prior to the failure. Vehicle was required to be towed to the repair facility.
