On December 14, 2023 I noticed there was an orange spot and several smaller orange areas that appeared under the clearcoat on my front bumper. I was unable to remove them through hand washing and waxing. I decided to take it in to two local body shops who pointed out to me that the fender was misaligned. After further review we found paint peeling and cracking on and under the hood as well as the painted area around the engine components. In addition, seam filler was left exposed on the roof in multiple spots, not prepped correctly, and just painted over. The pin stripe installed by the dealership was also peeling off. Furthermore, the hood was painted (twice as thick) and other painted panels had a different paint thickness. I contacted the selling dealer directly (missed during PDI), and my nearest dealership to report these issues and to start case with Honda for a resolution.

The vehicle started having issues initializing the auto-ignition system. It would give various notification, like system warming up when it wasn’t cold, or system disabled for some reason. Then it started shifting to park when stopped at light. Then it stalled multiple times when the AIS would initialize. Dealer said it was bad battery and swapped it. Driving away from dealer after service approached a stop light and came to a stop. The vehicle stalled again and went completely dead. No electrical at all. Stranded at intersection. Vehicle has been at dealer for 3 days, and waiting on response. They haven’t been able to find anything yet.

My Honda is having strange, intermittent issues with a plethora of things. I have taken it to a diagnostic specialist who worked with a phone mechanic and noone can tell me what is going on. My car will fully shut off at stop lights randomly, so I have to turn off the auto-idle feature every time I drive. Sometimes my power steering cuts out and my wheel locks and unlocks and my computer screen shuts off when this happens. I have to shut off and start my car for it to work again. Other times, all of my automated safety features stop and I get a huge slew of messages telling me that my lane assist, automatic hill braking, and a ton of other automatic safety features don't work. My car can't lane assist, do adaptive cruise control, use the backup camera, or anything. It goes away if I stop and restart my car a bunch. I also had a seatbelt alarm that was going off repeatedly with no reason. The dealership turned off the alarm. I am having a lot of issues with this car that makes me question if it is a lemon. I see other new Pilot owners mentioning issues with power steering shutting off and it's a huge safety risk. Noone knows whats wrong or how to fix it so what do I do? This happens intermittently, randomly, and recurrently since June.

When shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, the motor dips in RPM's then speeds up quickly. I now have 5000 miles on the vehicle and it is still happening. It's a safety hazard that the Honda Service Dept says is normal. On many quorum's, many people are complaining about the same problem. My local mechanic says that the electronic sequence of the transmission needs refreshed but has to wait for a Honda Repair Directive. Others have said that this issue is in one in three Honda Pilots with 10 speed transmissions.

recall has been open since December of that year I have documentation that I took it last year to get this recall fix and your web site is stating that it is incomplete. today 11/12 at 7:30am my engine caught on fire there was a lot of witness at the elementary school waving me down that my car was on fire. I panic and got away from the elementary where a lot of kids and families where present and went where there was no one insight and rush and got my set of 2 year old twins and my 3 year old son out there car seats and ran from the car and called 911 the fire department came and put out the fire and I have a report from them as well. now that I remember about this recall I remember it stating that if this recall wasn't fix that it can start a fire so I put two and two together and order my car fax report and seen that this was never completed. and have paper work that it was completed.

Bought this brand new 2024 Honda pilot touring model on Oct 2023, the issue starts showing after driving it for only couple of hundreds miles, there is a very distinctive and constant loud popping and cracking noise coming out from the speakers while driving, no matter if the audio volume is set to high or low or zero or even when music player is turned off, looked it up online and found out it is a very common problem for Honda for years now, and it is not just for the pilot lineup, it also affects their other models like Passport & Odyssey, It has something to do with the wiring process and improperly manufactured terminal of the FAKRA connector for the infotainment system. They have service bulletin (#23-047 & #23-046) and safety recall for the previous year models, but not for 2024 Honda pilot yet, I think this issue affect safety because the popping & cracking sound is loud enough to distracting driver while they are driving to the point they cannot 100% focused on the road. And I'm sure my vehicle is not the only unlucky car for the 2024 Honda Pilot model, I hope Honda address this issue as soon as possible, and also please prevent this from happing in the future, this is not my first Honda car, I hope this will not be my last one.

The middle passenger seat consistently sends signal that seat belt is not fastened when it actually is. This is noticed more when making a left turn. My 2 older kids are 11 and 8 yrs old. When either of them sit on the seat, I always ensure they buckle up. It's alarming to see message on dashboard and hear the chime that seat belt is not fastened when it is. I've also seen a message that the airbags get disabled on occasional drives. This is most likely related to the same issue.

There was no one that walked by or drove by. Pieces of glass were noted to be 10 feet behind the vehicle on the driveway. There was no one in the vehicle at the time and nothing in the trunk area that was potentially pressing on the glass. Vehicle was towed to the dealership where it was collision wrapped until the glass could be replaced.
- 10/30/2025· STEERING
Crackling/clicking noises coming from steering rack after the vehicle has warmed up and driven for 10-20 mins. Noises are more noticeable when driving at slow speeds and when pulling in/out of parking spaces. The electric steering rack in my vehicle has been replaced twice under warranty and these noises have reappeared approximately 1-2 months after each repair/replacement event which suggests a design/manufacturing defect with this part. There is no known technical service bulletin of this issue. The short and long-term effects of this defect are not publicly known and may pose a safety hazard. From research and discussions in online forums, this appears to be common problem with 4th generation honda pilots which started in model year 2023.

I purchased a 2024 Honda Pilot on [XXX]. In March, between the 4th & 22nd (approx 1800 mi) I thought I saw a crack but as my vehicle had been parked in the parking structure where I live adjacent the ports of LB & LA (prone to excessive dust) & recent rain/moisture causing the dust to form into lines I figured to wait until washing before confirming. On 3/22 I confirmed a crack - no point of impact. As I had planned a vacation to Mexico I opted to photograph the crack AND the vehicle in Mexico capturing date and location stamp. I returned on 4/16. On 4/29 I took my vehicle to El Monte Honda. I let the service advisor know about the crack & upon inspection he found a 2nd crack - no point of impact. The advisor said they were scratches on the inside - 2 piece laminated. I pushed back because the visible thickness of the crack I discovered did not match the hairline feel. He convinced me that replacing the windshield could lead to other issues such as leakage - a known problem on the current generation so I asked him to note the damage - he noted a scratch. I took the vehicle but ultimately decided it wasn't fair as both were in drivers line of sight. Upon return he said the system used to communicate between the dealership and manufacturer was down and would have to come back. I called 2 months later - no return call. 9/13/24 I decide to go to local dealer (Long Beach Honda). The service advisor inspected and said he would call Honda but did not. Driving away I noted a smudge where the advisor located a crack - a 3rd crack, no point of impact. Called Honda & they said no record of me going to the dealer. Closed case. On 10/1 I returned to LB Honda with a record from 4/29 and images. He said possible glass delamination but only because a Boeing engineer reenforced stress cracks. He did not return calls nor advise Honda. Called Honda. They refuse to do anything without a diagnosis and service advisors are running away in what appears a deliberate effort. Strange clicking noise during low speed steering left or right and moving steering wheel while parked. Honda dealer states they are unable to replicate issue. Issue is very unusual for a new vehicle. Multiple people have same issues on forums and Facebook groups. This is a potential safety issue if there is a faulty electrical steering gear box or suspension component. Honda needs to take responsibility and fix this issue instead of saying they can’t replicate it or that it maybe normal. I took video it is a sound that is audible inside and out.

Passenger got out of front passenger side door and the door bounced back and gashed his right calf, resulting in significant bleeding and requiring 9 stitches. The door can be inspected if needed, but this is a design issue, not an issue specific to my vehicle. I have looked at the other front door and another Honda of this model type and it has the same issue, a metal edge. This issue appears numerous times on Piloteers.org (Front Doors, Lower Edges). I contacted Honda and reported the incident with a request for a quick repair and medical costs for the injured passenger. I filed the report 10 days ago and followed up with Honda several times with a request to have the case expediated, but have yet to hear back from Honda. I am worried that another passenger or the driver could be similarly injured.

- 09/11/2024· POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
When pushing the accelerator there is typically anywhere from a 2 to 5 second delay before the vehicle starts to move. On average the delay is around 2 seconds, but there have been times where trying to pull into traffic the vehicle would not move for approximately 4 to 5 seconds creating a hazard. When the care is moving at higher speeds, the acceleration and gas pedal response is accurate, this only occurs when at a stand still or at very slow speeds. I have taken the car to the dealership to be evaluated and they informed me that the vehicle is operating as it is intended to and the delay is normal. I believe that this acceleration delay is inevitably going to cause an accident because it is difficult to gauge when the care is going to begin moving due to the inconsistent acceleration issue.
- 09/02/2025· SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

There are two occurances 1-8/2/2025 While traveling down highway 69 over I40, at 75 MPH, the right rear tire blew. It was not a slow release, but rather a boom and then all kinds of noise. The car was hard to control but there was no accident. Had it been a front tire....The sidewall blew out. If I had run over something, my wife or I should have seen it and they tear would be in the other direction. I replaced two tires at that point. 2-8/25/2025 While in Florida, 1000 miles from home, I noticed I had a low left rear (driver) tire. I got some air to last overnight and parked the car. The next morning I drove to a tire shop. They pull the wheel off and let the air out of the tire. When they used the machine to break the bead lose, the whole flat square metal piece pushed through the sidewall of the tire. I have pictures of both tires. The vehicle came to a complete stop while attempting to enter the Highway. As I accelerated to gain speed, and the vehicle halted down to stop, all sensor warning systems started to light up on the dashboard: Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency braking, Lane Departure Warning, Parking Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance -- all sensors flashing simultaneously. As our vehicle stopped, the vehicles around us in the Highway had to abruptly stopped as well, causing a serious hazard, not only to myself and my family, but also the potential for a serious injury to other as well. This incident happened to us twice, and my passenger was able to record a video of the dashboard, as all the sensors were flashing and the vehicle switch to neutral on its own coming to a stop. We explained to the Honda dealership service department and after the second time, they kept the vehicle for service and it has been over (30) days since we had any update. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership, and it is still there as parts are in back order, but there are not sure of what the real problem is. There were no previous warnings of this problem, the vehicle is a 2024 Honda Pilot Elite with 30,174 miles, and still under dealer warranty. This is the 3rd Honda Pilot I ever owned and never experienced anything like this before. My biggest concern is that if they do not fix this vehicle properly or if it is defective, my life and my family's will be in danger every time we drive it, as we do not know when it will decide to stop while driving.

This happens whenever the vehicle is in operation and someone is using the second row passenger side seat belt. No other seats are affected. Seatbelt warning system INCORRECTLY indicates with persistant and distracting chime and lights, that middle row right seatbelt is unbuckled, when it is in fact buckled. This has happened over 25 times over a 6 week period. It becomes a significant distraction to the driver, and forces the driver to ignore the seatbelt warnings all together, because while it is happening, it happens every 2-3 seconds continuously. Child passengers could very well be unbuckled ( Dangerous) and the driver wouldnt know it, due to the defective system. It is also extremely difficult to concentrate on safely driving while the chime is continuously going off. I urge the NHTSA to instruct HONDA to issue a safety recall and fix this dangerous issue.

The auto idle stop caused my Pilot to not restart as I was taking my foot off the brake turning left on a busy road. I had to be towed as my car would not start. The Honda repair center said there is an Engineering Request ([XXX]) trying to gather information about the issue, but no fix other than having to turn off the feature every time I restart the car. I am now extremely concerned about my safety and others because if I forget to turn off this feature, my car could unexpectedly now stop working and I could immediately be put in an unsafe situation. Honda said they can’t automatically turn off the feature. They have shifted this responsibility to the driver of the car. This is not right and they don’t seem to care when I call 1-800-880-1072. All they said is it your responsibility to turn off the feature each time you get in the car rather than give me options. I asked repeatedly if I were to forget and my car won’t restart after an auto idle stop, what can I do. Could not answer other than I need to be mindful before putting the car in drive. This is so wrong, I could come up with several scenarios now my car could cause me danger and others if it stalled suddenly in a heavy traffic area. What are my option? The back seat seat belt warning malfunctions when someone is sitting in the back seat, causing the alarm to sound as if the passenger is not buckled in. The red seat belt notification also indicates that someone in that seat is unbuckled, which is incorrect. The seat belt is fastened the entire time. The notification alerts mid- trip while driving. This is extremely dangerous as a driver I thought our child unbuckled her seat belt while driving. This problem has been occurring for over 2 months. The problem has been inspected by a Honda dealership and diagnosed-Honda Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) A26-027 for certain 2023-2025 Honda Pilot vehicles. The bulletin addresses a condition where the vehicle incorrectly indicates that the second-row right passenger seat belt is unfastened, even when it is buckled.

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the ongoing safety issues with my leased Honda, which I obtained in March 2024. Shortly after leasing the vehicle, I noticed that the sensors would frequently activate and deactivate without any apparent reason. In May 2024, while driving, all the sensors turned on, deactivating all safety features and causing the car to swerve. The sensor lights remained on the next day, prompting me to take the car to the dealership. I was informed that the sensor and a camera required repairs, which were subsequently addressed. Despite my concerns about the safety of driving this car, especially with three children, I was assured that the issue was resolved. I filed a complaint with Honda Corporate, and they indicated that the issue would need to recur 2-3 times before considering a different vehicle. Unfortunately, on [XXX], all the sensors activated again while I was driving, causing the car to stop accelerating in the middle of a busy road with my children in the back seat. This placed us in a life-threatening situation, as other vehicles were traveling at high speeds. The transmission light also turned on, advising to avoid high speeds. The next morning, I reported the issue to Honda and arranged for roadside assistance to tow the car to the dealership. During the towing process, the sensors activated again, and the car struggled to accelerate. Once at the dealership, I provided videos of the car's behavior to Ricardo, the service advisor, who acknowledged the severity of the issue. However, he later informed me that the sensors were not currently active, and the scanner could not detect any issues. Despite keeping the car overnight for further testing, they were unable to identify or repair the problem. I was advised to either pick up the car or leave it with them, but no loaner vehicle was offered. I am extremely concerned about the safety of driving this car. The right rear seatbelt keep’s going into alarm over and over like someone is unplugging it and plugging back in. The alarm is persistent no matter who sits in the seat. It flashes on the dashboard and the audible alarm sounds most if not the whole car ride every day.

While driving our 2024 Honda Pilot Touring, I came to a full stop at a red light. When the light turned green and I attempted to accelerate, the vehicle completely shut off without warning. There was no sputtering, no warning lights, and no error messages. The engine shut off instantly, and all systems—including both screens, air conditioning, horn, and hazard lights—were completely unresponsive. The vehicle was entirely disabled. It remained unresponsive for 5–10 minutes before showing any sign of power. It took four attempts to restart the vehicle. This happened in an active intersection, creating a serious safety risk. I could not move or signal to other drivers, and the car gave me no way to handle the emergency safely. The vehicle was taken to a Honda dealership for inspection. They ran diagnostic tests but were unable to reproduce or identify the issue and called it a “fluke.” No repairs were made, and the root cause was not identified. I was told to take the vehicle home and monitor it. This issue has not recurred yet, but I am concerned it could happen again at any time. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The problem has not been confirmed by the manufacturer or a third-party inspector. No warning lights or other symptoms appeared before the failure
