The front right sensor goes off randomly. Sometimes all day long for days, then nothing for a week or 2 then back to it. Various lengths of time, usually stressfully long times, with nothing aroundcausing stress and making fucus hard. It started a few months after getting the van. We cleaned it, had the dealer inspect it and no one has ever figured out why we have to live with this blaring warning alarm. The dash says object warning with it and if i close that out nothing stops the alarm but putting it in park which I can't do on the interstate or in pickup line at school

Auto stop/start struggles to start at lights or stopped traffic, rough idles and has already killed 1 battery, replaced under warranty and I'm having to charge my new one already since my car struggles to cold start sometimes! Incredibly stressful having 5 kids and 1car I spent a fortune on so it would last forever and it's a lemon I'm holding my breath doesn't strand us any time I have to break.

Around Dec 2024, the central control screen started blacking out. At first, it would black out and then the screen will come back on randomly. We took the car to Tempe Honda service center, and the technician was able to reproduce the problem, and it's covered under warranty. However, they had to order, but they didn't anticipate that it would be in back order. A couple months later, we checked on the status and found out that it was on back order and there is only one manufacturer, so it could take a few more months. We kept on calling to check on the status, and the anticipated back-fill date kept on pushing out. Finally, the screen went completed black and wouldn't come back around Aug 2025. We called Tempe Honda, and the service manager suggested us to call American Honda Motor. We did, and a case was open with American Honda Motor around 10/17/2025. American Honda Motor has been providing weekly update to us, however the update has been the same, which is that they are waiting for ETA on the release date for the part. We wrote an email back on 11/20/2025 with our concerns around safety due to this defect. They called on 11/26/2025 and suggest us to file a complaint with NHTSA. Our concerns in the email include: 1) it's the central control for a lot of the functions including navigation (which we can't update because the screen is broken, and the warranty period to do so will soon be at an end); 2) It's being used when we back up our car. With the defect screen, the back-up camera is useless. This poses potential danger as we pull out of a busy parking lot, such as at school when we drop off and pick up kids. it's very difficult to back up without the screen especially when there are large vehicles parked next to us; 3) To have customers with an essential part of the car being defective for a year is unacceptable. This problem needs to be fixed ASAP. Thank you!

Twice while at a stop light, when the car was in Auto Idle Stop, it suddenly shut down completely. There was no power on the dashboard. I couldn't even turn on the hazard lights. The first time, this lasted several minutes, the second time, a few seconds. After this time, the electronics spontaneously came back up and I was able to restart the engine.

The present complaint alleges as follows: 1. Honda has a defective design in the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) of all Honda Odysseys, models 2018-2023. 2. Namely, Honda has placed the RADAR behind the large HONDA emblem on the front grille. This causes the radar to give a "RADAR OBSTRUCTED" warning, which disables all Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in the car (Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning). 3. The "RADAR OBSTRUCTED" warning cannot be reset by restarting the vehicle or disconnecting the battery, requiring recalibration of the RADAR at the cost of $800 each time since it takes several hours to do (per Dealership). 4. The official Honda Odyssey Forum online has countless complaints on the same issue without resolution by Honda. 5. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers since this defect impacts the vehicle's advanced safety features for which buyers incur additional expenses, endangering the lives of passengers. 6. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers by designing a system that requires continuous and substantial expenditures without resolution because it is an engineering problem, i.e., the placement of the radar behind the large, thick plastic H emblem obstructs the radar. 7. I hereby ask that the NHTSA investigate this issue and order Honda to offer a solution in the form of a RECALL that permanently addresses the problem.

I have a 2023 Honda Odyssey van. The van has been modified for me to drive from my wheelchair. The steering wheel has been locking up eight times when driving. It won’t out let me go straight or turn left or right. This happens when I come to a stop. It happened twice when driving. The wheelchair modifications company southern mobility said they fixed many times but it still have the steering wheel lock up. Now they are telling me it’s the Honda’s fault. Honda said it’s the van modification fault. Honda said they can look at it for $150 a hour. I am very frustrated and very concerned. I am in a wheelchair, my daughter is in a wheelchair, and I need to take my mom to dr appointments. I feel like my life is in despair l

The straps for the car seat do not secure and are easily untightened. The issue is solely with the Nuna Rava car seat and not the vehicle. My 1 year old was completely unstrapped after driving because he was playing with the straps. After investigating I found I could easily untighten the straps with one hand without pushing the button to release the tension on the straps. Food debris got underneath the strap and was preventing the mechanism on the button from keeping tension on the straps, rendering the car seat useless. My wife called the manufacturer twice and left voicemails but has not been contacted back, I searched the internet and found multiple cases of this and the fix. I have videos showcasing this, but they are too large to upload.

The contact mentioned the failure would be present when making a left turn when driving at any speed. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer on several occasions where the failure was not determined due to being unable to be replicated. On a most recent occasion, the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver-side strut failed and as a result both the driver and passenger side struts needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired due to costs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that the vehicle was out of warranty but offered a discount. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Forward Collision Warning in conjunction with Emergency Braking have major safety issues that need to be addressed. 1st occurance: Driving through a construction zone through cones for lane realignment, van suddenly applied brakes in heavy traffic despite no obstacles in vans path. Vehicle quickly recovered. 2nd occurance: Driving on a dark street, van heavily applied brakes despite no obstacles. The braking occurred rapidly and van nearly came to a stop. Attempted to press harder on gas to override system with zero results. Had I been on a busier street, it would have resulted in a vehicle crash. This is a major safety issues that needs to be addressed by Honda with a recall.

Yesterday we were in our minvan (I had not entered yet and was standing outside the fornt passenger door but wife, children, and dog were inside. My daughter mashed the button to close the power sliding door on the right side of the van but did not notice that the dogs tail was wagging near the door entrance. All of a sudden I heard loud screaming and I opened the door on the right side. She was bleeding and in tears and said that the power door had closed on our dog's tail. I am a physician so I provided first aid. My concern is that when we bought the van we aksed about the power doors because we were concerned about them possibly closing on someone or something since they can be closed by multiple passengers. The salesmen assured us that the doors would not close on anything or anyone and would reverse if they met any resistance. Well the door completely closed all the way in this case despite the dogs tail sticking out of it.

The steering wheel makes a noise when turning, you can also feel the steering wheel popping/clunking when going into turns with bumps. There was a recall for the Honda Odyssey back in March of 2024 for this issue but my vehicle was not part of it, however I believe the issue lies with the steering gear box/steering column. I have taken my vehicle into Honda 6 times (5 times attached and currently it is there) and have not been able to get anywhere, they lubricated the steering shaft which alleviated the noise but 6 months later it came back. This noise started back in January of 2023.

HONDA CORPORATION IS NOT COMPENSATING DEALERS FAIRLY FOR THIS SIGNIFICANT RECALL ON HONDA ODYSSEYS. THIS RECALL INVOLVES DISASSEMBLING MUCH OF THE INTERIOR TO REPLACE THESE DEFECTIVE COMMUNICATION CABLES. TO DO IT CORRECTLY AND REASSEMBLE THE VEHICLE CORRECTLY THE WORK COULD TAKE 8 HOURS OR MORE. BECAUSE HONDA OF AMERICA IS COMPENSATING DEALERS FOR MUCH LESS THAN THE CORRECT WORK TIME, TO DO THE WORK, HONDA OWNERS ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THEIR REPAIRS. HONDA'S UNFAIR COMPENSATION TO DEALERS IS CAUSING OTHER MECHANICAL ISSUES ON HONDA ODYSSEY VEHICLES. On another note Honda Odyssey vans have some defective blind spot sensors. When we merge onto the Interstate (if we do forget to use our turn signal..... it does happen at times) the van goes (on its own) into emergency braking mode (when you are accelerating to highway speeds), causing us to almost CAUSE several Interstate accidents..... because of this SAFETY feature. These vans are very unsafe.

- 09/05/2023· STRUCTURE
My child was inside the minivan in the 2nd row and pressed the close door button on the sliding door while holding their other hand on the door jamb near the handle on the interior frame. The door slid closed and smashed their hand hard, automatically latching the door with their hand crushed inside the door. This is possible because their is a pinch sensor, but it is only on the outside edge of the door. So anything in between the door and the frame on the interior edge can be crushed hard without any sensor to detect and prevent it. I tested this with a flip flop and confirmed that it could be placed inside almost the entire width of the door and the door would still close with unrelenting full force. This does not seem to be a manufacturing defect, but instead seems to be a significant safety design defect and puts children or adults inside the vehicle at risk for injury including broken fingers.

Seems like due to the auto idle, it makes the engine idle so low that it dies- my car died in middle of the road- the first time, I had it jumped, and mechanic said it was a fluke, second time, despite the testing not showing any issue, he said we can try to replace the battery, so we did, but 6 weeks later my car died, and it took 5 attempts to get it to restart with the external battery pack! each time there was NO issue with the electrical system- my A/C was running fine, the whole dashboard showed up fine. Seems like according to a class action suit in california this is an issue Honda KNEW about! People now know to press the Auto-off button so the car does not auto idle- but this needs to be done EACH time, or you will end up KILLING your engine! How is this allowed to be sold?? - 08/13/2026· UNKNOWN OR OTHER
My 2023 Honda Odyssey (only 2.5 years old with 60,000 miles) recently had a complete tailgate failure. The dealership diagnosed the issue as a failed roof seal. This factory seal failure allowed water to leak inside the vehicle, directly shorting out the tailgate motor module causing the module to get very hot which could have caused a fire. The repair bill is $1,200. I contacted Corporate Honda to request Goodwill Assistance, considering the vehicle is so young and a roof seal should absolutely last longer than 2.5 years.Corporate Honda denied the assistance. They claimed a leaking roof seal is an "external factor" rather than a manufacturing defect. A vehicle's roof seal should protect the internal electronics from everyday weather. Labeling a structural seal failure as an external factor is an unacceptable excuse to avoid standing behind their product.

I thankfully was near a restaurant so was able to get scissors from them and had to cut the seatbelt off my sons neck to free him! It was terrifying that I couldn’t release the belt from his neck and I’m lucky I was able to get scissors to free him! The seatbelt should not automatically lock if retracted all the way! There should be a release button! I went to the dealership to get the seatbelt replaced and they are charging over a thousand dollars! - 07/31/2023· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
On the display next to the speedometer, reading the vehicle lists, the speed limit for the road you were currently driving on. The speed limit listed by the car is often wrong. When it states the speed limit is 100 mph it is obvious to the driver that it is incorrect. However, when it states the speed limit is 65 mph, but the speed limit is actually 45 mph. This causes an issue because it’s very possible that the speed limit could be 65 miles an hour. I have called Honda about the issue at the corporate level and they have stated they are not aware of any problems and I have called our local dealership who claims they are very aware of these problems and that Honda does not have any way to fix this. I am concerned for my self, as well as my children, who are not very experienced drivers and are likely to trust the speed limit stated on the display of our brand new Odyssey van. This is very dangerous especially when the error that the display makes is almost always listing a much faster speed limit than the actual speed limit is. This has been happening since we purchased the car six weeks ago. I have attached several examples of where the speed limit. The car lists is obviously wrong. If I post any where it states a plausible speed limit, it would be hard to make the same point but those are the ones I’m most concerned about.

When we are idling (at a red light), the engine will suddenly stop. We believe this is the feature of the start-stop system used to save gasoline. We will then have to completely restart the car as the car has been turned off. This creates a huge safety hazard at intersections. We have asked Honda about it twice now and currently replacing the starter. Our car is a little over 3 years ago with about 40k miles. The starter should not be failing at this point and we believe it is due to this start stop issue. The starter cost us $1400 in a car that is just over 3 years old with about 40k miles.

I was driving down the road and all the sudden I hear a loud bang/shatter noise. I look over and see that my passenger side mirror is hanging down and shattered. Didn’t notice any impact or anything when it happened. The mechanism that works the mirror broke. No damage to the plastic casing or nothing.

While driving from [XXX] to [XXX], all of the safety systems started to fail. We had driven about 45 minutes from our starting point. As the system started to fail, they would flash across the screen on the dashboard saying each one that was failing. We pulled over to the side of the road, and my husband popped the hood and flames started coming out of the hood, closest to the dashboard and windshield. We called 911 and by the time they reached our location, the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The remedy for Safety Recall 23V-431 (MOST bus FAKRA connectors), performed 8/2023 at Joyce Koons Honda (Manassas, VA), has failed. The recall's stated safety risk, rearview camera failure when MOST communication is lost over 20 seconds, now occurs regularly on my vehicle. Symptoms began early 2025 and have worsened: intermittent loss of the rearview camera in reverse, infotainment reboots, and speaker popping (the warning signs listed in the Part 573 report). On [XXX] the infotainment system and backup camera were unavailable for over 50% of a long drive. Vehicle logs show 822 MOST network signal-loss events from [XXX] to [XXX] (avg ~15/week), predominantly "Tuner_Amplifier_Unit SUDDEN_SIGNAL_OFF" and "Meter SUDDEN_SIGNAL_OFF", the exact failure mode the recall remedy was meant to correct. I can provide the log data (chart and CSV). I reported the recurrence to the dealer on 5/31/2025; they said they could not reproduce it, and vehicle logs were cleared up to that date. I opened American Honda case #[XXX] in 10/2025 and escalated as case #[XXX] in 6/2026. On 7/1/2026 an American Honda representative told me Honda cannot authorize service without a dealer diagnosis and that I must pay out of pocket for diagnosis of this failed recall remedy, with reimbursement only as discretionary "goodwill." This appears inconsistent with 49 U.S.C. 30120, which requires recall remedies at no charge, including when the original remedy was inadequate. Honda revised Service Bulletin 23-046 to Version 3 on 12/18/2024, after my repair, revising parts and repair information, which suggests earlier repairs were performed with superseded parts or procedures. This is a rear-visibility (FMVSS 111) safety defect. Please record this as a failed recall remedy for 23V-431. - 06/29/2026· SEATS
The front seat slide lever on my 2023 Honda Odyssey failed completely on its own with no accident, force, or misuse involved. The lever detached from the seat rail mechanism, making it impossible to slide the seat forward or backward. The vehicle was purchased in August 2022 and this failure occurred approximately 3.5 years later, just 10 months outside the bumper-to-bumper warranty. When I brought the vehicle to the Honda dealer, I was informed I would be charged $100 for diagnostics even if I declined the repair, leaving me no real choice but to proceed. The total repair cost was $276 (parts $189.78, labor $70.95, misc $15.60) plus taxes. I contacted Honda Customer Relations requesting goodwill reimbursement. After a 3-week review, Honda denied the request. I believe this may be a manufacturing defect as another owner of the same Odyssey model has reported the identical failure.
