  • ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:HARD PARTS INTERNAL/MECHANICALCampaign 25V274000 · 24/04/2025

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.

Risk: Engine failure increases the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will inspect the engine, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install 6 oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner's manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 18, 2025. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N252494000.

  • SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:BRAKE FLUID LOW WARNING: LAMPCampaign 24V674000 · 12/09/2024Over-the-air fix

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Escalade ESV vehicles. The electronic brake control module software may fail to display a warning light when a loss of brake fluid occurs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk: Without a warning light, the vehicle may be driven with low brake fluid, which can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: The Electronic Brake Control Module (eBCM) software will be updated through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 25, 2024. Owners can contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447990.

I was driving and received a check engine light with “Service ESC” and traction control was disabled. Performed diagnostics and found P0300, P0304 and P0204 all relating to cylinder 4 misfire and injector issues on cylinder 4. Truck has just over 47,000 miles and may be related to the lifter issues that plague this engine design.

  • 12/27/2025· UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The vehicle 'turned off' while in motion at around 35-40 mph on a busy 5-lane major arterial road in the city on 12/21/2025 at around 0630-0700 hours. Driver (author of this report) was able to turn into a side road and stop. Message "Press start button" displayed on dash panel. Complying with this action led to a coughing start but vehicle could not be put into drive mode because a second message appeared saying "Conditions not safe for transfer". Eventually over next minute or two vehicle coughed up to a start again and was able to put into drive mode and drive to parking garage to safety. Driver was able to drive back about 3 hours later with no recurrence or new malfunction. No warning lights throughout the episode. My Chevrolet mobile app also did not display error messages. Vehicle was driven (without incident) and delivered to a Chevrolet dealer on 12/24/2025 for diagnostics and workup and is currently situated there.

Does it going down the road or parked. my tailgate has hit numerous cars that parked behind me causing me to have to pay out of pocket for 2 other cars where my tailgate dented or scraped the paint on their vehicles. I see this safety recall online for this tailgate latch, but my vehicle isn't covered for some reason. Safety recall N232426400 explains the entire issue with the faulty latches. Due to the faulty latch, now my tailgate also needs bodywork and to be repainted. That's costly.

  • 12/13/2025· POWER TRAIN

I have an 2023 L87 engine that could stop functioning at any moment. I'm retired and bought this vehicle as my last truck. I don't feel safe driving it on long trips which is why I bought it. Also the transmission shifts rough from 1st to 2nd when I accelerate. When I inquired about the transmission problem at the dealership the showed me a letter sized notice saying this might be a problem. But I was not notified about this when I purchased the truck. I would prefer to just return the truck as I have it financed with GM Financial with no money down and am willing to just eat what I have already paid to get out of this ticking time bomb which I'm not comfortable driving long distance as [XXX]. • 12/12/2025· POWER TRAIN,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

was crossing an intersection when the truck suddenly and without warning stopped (engine). Unable to shift the truck into neutral in order to move the truck out of the flow of traffic. This is because the truck has the electronic shifter which requires the truck to be running in order to shift. There is not a manual override. So basically the truck was in the middle of an intersection with cars and trucks weaving around it until the tow truck arrived. But since the truck wasn’t able to be shifter into neutral the tow truck had to maneuver around to the front and “drag the truck onto a flat bed in order to clear the vehicle. Also it turns out that there is a major issue with the fuel pump module on these trucks and the tow truck driver said he has seen this happen a lot and very common. As a result these types of issues are likely to result in a near of fatal accident in the near future.

  • 12/12/2024· POWER TRAIN

2023 Silverado with 10 speed transmission. 20K miles. On 11/30 received "Reduced Power" message, quickly followed by "Service Transmission Now Unable to Shift Soon", which was quickly followed by "Service Transmission". CEL came on. Transmission was shifting erratically, and not shifting into higher gears. Clearly a safety concern. Dropped it off at a local dealer on 12/1. Dealer service advisor contacted me 12/12, saying they were finally able to diagnose the problem and the transmission needs a new valve body. However, the valve body is on back order and there is no estimated time for when it will be available. The internet is awash with stories of the same issue with GM's 10 speed transmission in the light duty pick up trucks, leaving owners waiting for weeks, even months before their vehicle is repaired.

I am reaching out to seek your assistance in addressing this matter, as it appears to be a broader concern affecting multiple Silverado models. I believe your involvement can help ensure that both my specific case and the larger issue are thoroughly investigated, and appropriate actions are taken to rectify these ongoing problems. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to a resolution that ensures the safety and performance of my vehicle. While driving at highway speeds, in traffic, all dash lights lit up and the engine shut off. The truck began decelerating on its own, I couldn’t brake and could barely steer. Luckily I was going fast enough that I managed to coast about a hundred feet to get partly out of traffic. The truck would never start again and I had to wait for 7 hours for GM roadside assistance to tow me to a Chevy dealer that was 4.6 miles away. 23 hours later the dealer called me and told me the starter caused the problem, in which I told them made no sense. 30 mins later they called and said the motor failed due to recall N252494003 for the L87 engine. My truck had passed the recall inspection for this recall on Sep 24th, 2025 and received the new oil that was supposed to prevent this failure. I had also just had the oil changed again around Nov 13th because the FCW module needed a firmware update and was not functioning. The truck had given NO warning or issues previous to Dec 3rd.

  • 12/05/2024· SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN,ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH and hauling a small box trailer, the vehicle slid several times. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road temporarily and resumed driving; however, the failure recurred several times. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that towing assistance could be provided for the vehicle but not for the box trailer. The contact decided to continue driving the vehicle to the residence while the manufacturer remained on the phone with the contact. The contact stated that upon test driving the vehicle the following day, the vehicle operated as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was inspected, and the dealer removed the valve body of the transmission per the manufacturers' instructions. The dealer then informed the contact that metal shavings were found in the transmission pan. The dealer replaced the transmission. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the rear end of the vehicle continued to make an abnormal humming sound. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was test-driven, and the dealer determined that the rear end of the vehicle needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that while his wife was driving 40 MPH on a wet road, the vehicle inadvertently slid off the road and drove on the grassy area covered with snow. The contact's wife steered the vehicle and missed a ditch; however, the rear passenger's side of the vehicle and the rear passenger's side tire struck a pole. The air bags did not deploy. The driver did not sustain any injury. The driver exited and inspected the vehicle. The driver was able to continue driving. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

The sound on the Infotainment system, which controls the radio, apple car play and phone calls cuts out randomly and will not turn back on until the truck is turned off for 10 minutes or you pull over and park and do a reset in safe mode. This is a hazard as you can not make emergency call while driving or if you are on an emergency call while driving you are forced to go from hands free to holding your cell phone while driving. I reach out to Chevrolet several and brought the truck to 2 different dealerships and it is still not fixed.

  • 10/28/2025· POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

While driving and idling, my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country equipped with the 6.2L v8 engine began experiencing a persistent audible ticking/clicking noise from the engine bay, rough idle during cold starts, and noticeable/abnormal engine vibration. Shortly after, the check engine light came on. When scanned, diagnostic codes P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected) and P050D (Cold start Rough Idle) were retrieved. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership, and the service advisor and technician confirmed hearing a consistent clicking noise and documented that they contacted GM's Technical Assistance Center (TAC case #80413912). The service order report states: "Due to unknown noise cannot perform recall. Called TAC 80413912 and was told need to figure out top end noise and misfire before proceeding with recall. If repairs are related to top end, will not be covered under recall." The technician indicated this could be related to a camshaft and lifter issue, which matches the symptoms outlined in GM's active propulsion system recall for 6.2L engines. Suggests GM aware & has not yet confirmed full recall coverage/repairs. This issue presents a significant safety risk because the engine could experience sudden power loss or failure while driving, potentially leading to loss of propulsion or control. These symptoms are identical to those described by GM in their recall documentation concerning valve lifter and camshaft failures. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealership, and all documentation, diagnostics reports, and service notes are available for inspection upon request. Warning/check-engine lights first appeared in October 2025, and the problem persists. Based on GM's recall acknowledgment of similar failures, I believe this defect should be fully covered under the existing recall, and I am requesting NHTSA's review to ensure manufacturer addresses this safety-related defect promptly and without cost to owners.

  • 10/27/2023· VISIBILITY/WIPER

Windshield wipers have stopped/paused during operation on two occasions midway through clearing rain from the windshield while driving down the road during rain events. Each time this has happened, the wipers have paused for approximately 2 seconds and then continued working without adjusting the controls. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. If the wipers had not started working again, I could have lost the ability to see while driving on the roadway. This could have put me and family at risk of crashing, as well as other motorists on the roadway. The problem has not been evaluated at the dealership yet. There has been no lights, lamps or warnings this was going to occur either time it has happened.

I had to tow to the nearest level point to safely park the vehicle, for fear of rolling backwards down 8% grade. At that point the computer was showing engine overheat loss of power warnings. GM roadside assistance towed to nearest dealer, refilled transmission with fluid, and put me back on the road for it to fail again in traffic (loss of power / unable to move). I have now been without vehicle going on 30 days and worry there is more wrong with the vehicle than just a blown transmission (latest GM diagnosis with no repair eta). For a few hours prior to failure I noticed what seemed like the transmission hunting for gears at lower speeds (0-25) with hesitation. Could have been slipping. And also noticed strange / louder than usual turbo noises. I worry the system is generating too much pressure or has mixed oil with coolant somewhere, based on finding atf, coolant, and engine oil near the overflow and all over the bottom of the vehicle. GM support has been atrocious and someone should step in.

1.Coolant control valve failure 3 times within 125,00 miles causing the engine to run hot without overheating indication, losing heater and defrosting capabilities unable to operate safely with windshield freezing, 2. in addition this also caused the engine to run hot enough to burn manifold gasket and cracking manifold creating carbon monoxide to enter through cab vents. $4500 repair cost-that in order to operate safely. 3. Finally on star safety features not available due to module battery dead only after 2 years gps, emergency call and everything else included in this safety feature unavailable $1,000 cost manufacturer or dealer will not recognize any of these due to warranties and expiration.

All lights including dash lights turned off while driving at night on the interstate at 82mph. Not sure if my knees hit the light switch or not but not sure why even dash lights went out. Brought vehicle to local Chevy garage, there was no code and they couldn’t duplicate the incident.

Driving at highway speeds, truck downshifted to low gear causing a sudden deceleration and check engine light appeared along with 'Service Transmission' message. Was almost rear ended by multiple cars, but was able to guide truck to the shoulder through traffic. Shut down truck and restarted with message still appearing although gear shifting seemed to be normal. After stopping at a gas station to look up error, on next restart error cleared and truck drove for almost a week without issue and ~300-400 miles. Once again driving at highway speeds the same scenario happened with downshift in heavy traffic and had to pull to the shoulder. Waiting to bring to dealer, but mileage on truck is just over the 60,000 mi warranty period. Codes on reader indicate P0700 and P0747.

Three weeks ago, I exited my running truck and saw that the left front driving light wasn't working. Turned the turn signal on and it would not function either. At first the rear light was blinking normally. Then after about a minute it began to flash rapidly and the display showed, check left front turn signal. Shut it off and unit worked after restart. Two weeks later, did the same thing. This time it did not reset until the next day. It seems to malfunction when the headlights are activated, and I noticed there is a unit mounted on the back of the headlight assembly that appears to control it and the headlights, as it is one unit. I recorded it on video, and when I took it to the dealer, they were able to confirm the issue. They are going to replace that assembly. After some research, I am discovering that this is beginning to look like a common issue as others that own 2022 model years and up report the same thing. My vehicle has only 12,600 miles on it, and I have found people with 2024 GMC trucks also experiencing it. This is concerning as it is a safety issue with nonfunctioning turn signals or running lights. As I stated before, the first time it happened there was no warning that the driving light wasn't working nor was there a warning the first time it happened that the front turn signal wasn't flashing for over one minute. Most times your signal isn't on for that period of time. Mine is warranted but some people said that without proof; the dealer can't duplicate the issue, so they aren't replacing it. Out of warranty the lighting unit costs about 1,500.00 and it isn't something an average individual can replace. GM also charges a 200.00 core charge on these. The service manager called it a restricted item. I would appreciate your looking into this to see how widespread this might be. I'm assuming it has something to do with the headlights being on and the heat generated by them causing the failure, but that is just a guess. It is a safety issue though

Vehicle vehicle is shuddering while driving at speed limit as well as accelerating. Based on research, it is apparent that there is an issue with the torque converter in this year model of truck. I have found more than 50 individuals online who have dealt with the same issue.

  • 10/16/2025· FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Truck shut off as I was driving. NO Warning. On a hill poor visibility Gratefully no injury. Required tow truck to dealer. Just received statement REPLACED FUEL CONTROL MODULE. Vehicle has 14000 miles Cost was covered by warranty but this should not have happened! Warranty does does not cover how shaken as I am a senior driver trusting this truck.

  • 10/16/2024· FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

As also reported by another owner in NHTSA ID Number: 11602844, I have found several times that while driving on I-80 at or near speed limit with adaptive cruise control on and no traffic, no weather, dry pavement, that the truck suddenly applied the brakes hard. There was nothing on or upcoming in the road, the sides of the road were desert and near the road was clear. Over the course of the past year this has happened probably half a dozen times.

I have found between the last two oil changes, I have had to add 1-1/2 to 2 quarts of oil. I first thought that maybe the oil was not refilled fully but after the second time I asked the dealer about this and they said that the engine may need up to 2 quarts of oil added between oil changes. SERIOUSLY?! I cannot believe this is normal for a new truck with less than 30,000 miles. There is no leaks in my driveway, no obvious exhaust smoke.

Within weeks of buying the truck the Auto STOP/START quit working. I never gave it much thought until after a service visit and it was again working. I asked the dealer and they said the battery voltage dropped below a set level, turning off the Auto STOP/START. It quit again days later and has never worked again. There is no apparent reset. My battery voltage is normal, I have a REDTIGER F7N 4K Dual Dash Cam running 24/7 but it is drawing 4.5 to 5 watts; the car is rarely left parked for more than a day. I was initially bothered that there was no On/Off for the Auto STOP/START but I am even more frustrated that it is no longer working and no apparent reset short of taking the truck to the dealer for service.

  • 10/15/2025· ENGINE

Driving down the road and the engine turns off with no warning lights, noise, or any indication of an issue. I was luckily able to use momentum and move to the side of the road. The Chevy dealer has inspected the engine and concluded that the engine is blown.

It burns a significant amount of oil. I had an oil consumption test completed with a GM dealership, they state it is in their guidelines of standard. It burns around 2 quarts of oil within 5000 miles, so between oil changes. The add oil alert popped up while I was driving down the highway. My truck has 33500 miles on it, it should not be normal for a new truck to burn that much oil. They will not check my engine to identify the cause because they state it is within their standards.
