  • STRUCTURE:BODYCampaign 23V421000 · 12/06/2023

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2022 Sentra vehicles. The driver's side cowl area may have a missing or improper seal, which can allow water to leak inside the vehicle and corrode electrical components.

Risk: Corrosion of the electrical components could result in failure of various electrical systems, such as loss of wiper motor function or exterior lighting, inoperative air bags, or the ability to shift into gear without applying the brake pedal. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash. In addition, an electrical short-circuit may occur, increasing the risk of a fire.

Fix: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, reseal the driver's side cowl. If moisture or corrosion is found, the main harness and engine room harness will be replaced. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 26, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

Window child locks randomly locks windows in position. There's no reason for it to lock them. I've never tried to engage them on purpose since I have no children. Sometimes pushing the child lock hard several times will allow them to unlock but it may lock in that position so I really can't use 3 windows.

Tire rod recall. My vehicle has been vibrating and there is a knocking sound coming from under the car for over 1 year. Vehicle was inspected by Nissan dealership who notified me there was no vibration during test drive. Dealership says that the tire rod was not bent, so they could not replace the tire rod. Nissan closed the recall on my vehicle however, vibration/knocking sound continue. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs and was notified that they could not replace the tire rod and that the case for my vehicle could not be reopened even if I get a second opinion.

ONE DAY IN JANUARY THIS YEAR, I FELT A VIBRATION IN MY STEERING WHEEL. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO A TIRE SHOP FOR ALIGNMENT AND WHEEL BALANCING BUT THE PROBLEM WAS UNSOLVED. TWO WEEKS AGO WHEN I OPENED THE DMV RENEWAL FORM, I SAW THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR MY 2022 NISSAN SENTRA. PER NHSTA RECALL NO. 23V-581, IT STATES THAT THE MANUFACTURER MAY HAVE INSTALLED A CHEAP, WEAK OR SUBSTANDARD TIE RODS. AS A RESULT, THE STEERING WHEEL MAY BE OFF CENTER AND EXPERIENCE VIBRATION WHICH IS EXACTLY MY PROBLEM. I BROUGHT TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE TIE RODS. HOWEVER, THE VIBRATION IN MY STEERING WHEEL REMAINS. I BELIEVE THAT OVERTIME, THE SUBSTANDARD TIE RODS ORIGINALLY INSTALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER MAY HAVE AFFECTED AND/OR DAMAGED ALL OTHER COMPONENTS RELATED TO STEERING. IF THEY HAVE INSTALLED THE RIGHT PARTS THEN I SHOULD HAVE BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND NISSAN SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR THIS MATTER. I CALLED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CONSUMER AFFAIRS YESTERDAY AND THE LADY WHO HAS AN INDIAN ACCENT HUNG UP ON ME. I HOPE THAT NHSTA COULD DO SOMETHING REGARDING THIS ISSUE.

We purchased this 2022 sentra in 2022. The car shakes during acceleration, as well as put my familys life at risk due to the car continuously pulling itself to the right when having to take the interstate. It is available for inspection upon request. It has not been confirmed by a dealer, due to the fact they said im not on the list for recall, but am having the same exact problems as other 2022 sentras that have been recalled. They want to charge 230 dollars just for a diagnostic. No warning lamps or messages appeared. When they changed the CV axel while under warrenty, they said thats whats making the popping like noise when i turn. The noise came back and wont go away, and now im experiancing other symptoms related to the recall.

The contact was informed that an unknown module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact was concerned that the failure could recur. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 93,000.

While driving the car this morning at about 30 mph, and with no obstructions around, there was a sudden red flasher on the dashboard (a red long bar with a hazard triangle in the middle, three flashes) and I could feel ABS with the car applying emergency brakes automatically. My wife had told me that she also encountered the same problem about two months ago. At that time, we thought it could have been a one off. I bought this vehicle in April 2022. It has done only 1,800 miles. Today's incident was after the 6-monthly (first) service that was done yesterday. I have written to the dealership about this incident today. I am concerned the impact if emergency brake is activated for no reason when driving on the highway. Both my wife and I take turns using the car, and often travel with our two children.

In the interior of the car on the passenger side there are water droplets. The droplet has no smell. There is no evidence of pooling water when I opened the glove compartment. I felt as far a I could behind the glove compartment for moistener, I couldn’t feel any. However I just purchased new winter floor mats. As I was vacuuming my car out I noticed the carpet was wet. I just purchased the car on Sept 08,2025 and thought it may be damp from the car being shampooed. Once I place the rubber winter mats down is when I noticed the droplets. I’ve read there were recalls on the 2022 Sentra for similar issues of water droplets from possible air conditioner condensation. I suspect my car maybe experiencing similar issue. I noticed these droplet as a result on my air conditioner being on.

Case of "parasitic draw" on the battery? (I see that NHTSA issued NTB21-053B.) Car was purchased new from Nissan dealership in Springfield, Virginia, March 3, 2022. On Tuesday, Sept. 13, roughly 5:00 p.m., I parked in my driveway as usual. The vehicle had approximately 8,980 miles. I did not move the car all day Wednesday, Sept. 14. On Thursday, Sept. 15, around 11:00 a.m., when I attempted to open the car door, the battery was COMPLETELY drained. I had to use the physical key to open the door. I know for certain that the lights, including the dome light, were not on. Doors and trunk lid firmly shut and locked. (The only thing I can imagine is that I had a cell phone charger plugged into the cigarette lighter port, but the cell phone was in my possession.) I called AAA, a technician tested the battery, and it was completely dead. (See photo 1.) He jumped the battery and it started. I drove to the Nissan dealer where I purchased the vehicle, and they said they put the car on a charger for more than an hour, and reported the battery tested okay. (See photo 2.) But incident was very disconcerting.

On August 21, 2024, my daughter was driving the car and was in the drive thru to get breakfast. As she turn the corner and was in the line to pick up her meal, the car wouldn’t move. She tapped on the gas once more, upon doing so the car veered to the left ( she had no control in the steering) and the tire rod broke causing her to crash into the small cement barrier. I call the dealership where I purchased the vehicle and I was advised to contact Nissan Consumer. The vehicle is not drivable and I was advised to have it towed to a dealership, where it has been for a month now. The inspector went to the dealership over two weeks ago. I was told I would receive an a call regarding the results to determine if Nissan was at fault ( this makes no sense since there’s an open recall and the tie rod is bent/broken). I’ve yet to hear from Nissan Consumer with the results. I’ve left 2 messages and no one has returned my call. The dealership is charging a daily storage fee, car/insurance payments are being made on a vehicle that’s not in my possession. My daughter has to pay for Uber rides for her classes at the school where she has to do observations for her degree. She has to pay for grocery delivery. Additionally, my daughter is a recent kidney transplant recipient. She has doctors appointments she must attend. Without a vehicle, I have to go to a different city to pick her up, take her to the appointment and bring her back. Which means I have to take off from work ( loss wages/ or use vacation time) which I shouldn’t have to, until this issue is rectified. I understand the protocol and we’re not the only consumers with issue, but over a month is ridiculous.

It started with the wipers not returning to correct position or still going for another couple minutes even thought I have turned them off. At approximately 1400 on 08/07/2022 just past the intersection on ayers and the SPID access road, I was driving at about 30 MPH with my grandfather in the front passenger seat and my younger sister in the rear driver's seat in my 2022 Nissan Sentra. When passing the turn-around in the left lane of the access road, I suddenly felt the car lean towards the driver's side and then the airbags deployed on the driver's side, pushing my vehicle into oncoming traffic, towards a truck passing in the right lane of the access road, and I also felt the car drifting towards oncoming traffic as well; at the time I felt the drift of the vehicle, I had not hit any objects or debris in the road and I did not collide with the curb. To avoid getting hit by the truck, I forced the wheel against the airbag and drift of the vehicle, scraping the front-driver's side tire on the curb while the truck passed. I then turned the wheel towards the right lane in an attempt to get put of the road and avoid getting hit or causing an accident. During the maneuver to the right lane, I pulled the vehicle as far onto the curb as I could because there was no marked breakdown lane, and the vehicle would not move anymore. I then assessed to ensure that my passengers were unharmed, but my grandfather complained of pain to his abdomen, my sister complained of a burn injury to her L upper arm and I was suffering from tinnitus. After confirming no one was severely injured, I called my parents and asked them to come and pick up my sister and my grandpa while I tried to figure out what I needed to do about the vehicle. While on the phone with my parents, a bystander came up to my car and asked if we were alright and told us that he had already called 911. We told him no one was badly injured. I also verified with this witness that I did not come into contact with anything; he stated that he heard a loud pop and then saw me swerving and then come to a stop.

I initially thought the battery in my key fob was dead because the screen in my car kept saying I needed to place the key near the push to start. Even though I already placed it directly on top of the button. I got someone to jump my car and it finally started. After that the battery still is not holding a charge. I have gotten my battery jumped 3 times since then( once a day) and the dealership charged it at the service center. The service advisor confirmed the issue is with the battery. Every time I turn my car off, it won’t start again without a jump. Also I got my car serviced by Nissan for an oil change and tire rotation on 06/21/2023. And they performed a multi point inspection of my car. On the report, everything concerning my battery was marked green. Indicating that it had no issues. There are issues with the sensors. Specifically, the collision sensors. I have owned a 2022 Nissan Sentra for a few months now and multiple times have had the traction control malfunction warning, front collision sensor malfunction warning, and back collision sensor malfunction warning appear. In turn, this makes other safety features like the lane departure warning malfunction as well. This is a safety risk because first, the point of collision sensors is to minimize the risk of being in an accident. Second, if the sensors are corroding or have issues it can cause a fire or damage other aspects of the vehicle. I payed for multiple reports of the car. I assumed it was in an accident and the dealership did not disclose it. As the issue becomes more persistent it is clear that is what the car does. Malfunction.

  • 07/11/2025· SERVICE BRAKES

I experienced a second brake booster failure within 1300 miles of the replacement. The booster should be available for inspection, but I do not have it. The dealership has it. On May 9, 2025, at 38,349 miles, my booster failed, experiencing a very loud audible boom and insulation hanging under my car. It was taken to a Nissan dealership and they verified it was something they’d never seen before. It was replaced, then on June 23, at 39,630 miles, it failed again. I had my 4 year old daughter in the car the second time and thankfully was able to stop, but it could have been catastrophic in heavier traffic or at higher speeds. It was inspected by a second Nissan dealership. They advised there was oil in my brake fluid, but did not advise how it could have happened. They also said they aren’t sure what caused it and they’ve also never seen this before. One failure is rare, a second within 1300 miles is extremely rare. The symptoms, I feel, began in January. During a warranty strut replacement, I advised that my brakes were doing something strange and I wasn’t sure if it was the brakes or transmission. I was recommended to have a cvt flush and brake fluid change. I feel this was the booster, but the dealership said there are no symptoms of a failing booster. If those were not symptoms of the booster, then the first symptom began around May 5. When I would start my car, I noticed the brake pedal was stiff until I started it. It drove normal until I pressed the brake while idling in my driveway preparing to leave and heard a loud boom, followed by a hissing sound coming from my brake and a very stiff pedal. My brake is still very stiff when I go to start my car (as if I’ve pressed the brake multiple times, but I am pressing it for the first time). This is potentially the first symptom I experienced before the first failure, it’s a symptom that has not gone away since the first failure. The first failure was also reported and the complaint number is: 11663673

On multiple occasions while driving, at traffic lights or stop signs, a light will come on the dashboard with a symbols including: Place the key near the start switch --even though the car is already on and running; and other times the car will not start at all with the key next to the start switch; Lower Tire Pressure - although the tires when check are not low at all; Low Fuel Gauge -although I would have just put gas in the car; A phone number from a person that I already hung up from as still an on-going telephone call; Forward collison sensor; Rear auto breaking symbol; ABS symbol, Car crash symbol, warning symbol and words; master warning symbol and words, system malfunction, I took the car two both Universal Nissan Dealership where I bought the car and Glendale Nissan Dealership after the lights came on - they always said, the dashboard lights do not come on when I leave my car with them---they cannot duplicate my concern, however they would ALWAYS clear out pass codes in the car computer systems, which indicates and verifies that the dashboard light was on and which symbol was displayed on the dashboard. No software update was ever offered to me, all things I complained about were consistently denied. Nothing was done to repair this electrical problem or glitch while my car was under warranty -prior to hitting 30,000;The drive car door will sometimes stick and will not open - i will have to exit on the passenger side. Universal Nissan Car dealership lied and said I has body work done on the car and they charged me for checking the door. However a few months later Glendale and CARFAX verified I had not EVER had any body work done to this car! Its cost me to miss work at uber (which is my main income!) for 45 days and have many anxiety attacks. I am paying for a car that is malfunctioning regularly (for nearly 2 years now from brand new at 8 miles -to 50,000), Nissan Headquarters will not repair, replace or buy it back. Nissan 2022 Sentra is a Scam!

My car continuously feels like it's going to stall out and actually has just sitting at a red light. With no warning the car just stalled on me. The throttle body has been replaced already, they reset my RPMs a different time, and just replaced the entire transmission. It's a brand new 2022 Sentra and only had 14 miles on it when I bought it in March. I should not have had the transmission replaced already on a brand new car. Even with the transmission being replaced the car is still wanting to stall out. This makes for very unsafe driving and could lead to an accident as well. It also has acceleration issues when pressing the gas pedal it doesn't want to go then out of no where speeds up real fast. Very concerned and wondering if I'm ge only person with such bad luck to be the only car owner of a brand new Sentra having this problem with my car. It's been to the repair shop 4 times already and I will be going back less then a week later after having the transmission replaced. The forward collision sensor stops working when it's raining outside as well. That's the time you need it the most. It says it's been disabled and the sensor is blocked even though there is nothing blocking it.
