  • 12/30/2024· STEERING

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The contact stated while his wife was driving 80 MPH, the steering wheel seized. The contact stopped the vehicle to regain control, and the steering wheel independently resumed normal functionality. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated the vehicle had been in the dealer’s possession for two weeks. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

  • 12/28/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,ENGINE

My 2022 Gladiator with only 2700 miles on it locked up at a stop light. Every light on the dash was blinking, and the wipers came on. I couldn’t move the shifter, or turn the Jeep back on. Hazard lights would not come on initially. Not being able to move the vehicle or turn on hazard lights on a busy 6 lane road was extremely scary. I have never had a vehicle do anything like this before. I had it towed to the dealership. I explained what happened and they had never heard of this before. I have read of it happening on social sites and forums. I feel uncomfortable driving it even if they repair it. I bought this vehicle less than 60 days ago as of this message.

The camshaft went out, along with the rocker arms, cam phasers, there is a box on the passenger side wheel well that goes out and will not allow the truck to shift or go into park. There is now something wrong with the automatic start/stop as the light continues to be on in the dash. Things started to go out as soon as the warranty expired… The truck has 80kmi. We fix one problem only for more to pop up. We purchased the jeep brand new and everything since it has had one problem after another.

  • 12/27/2022· STEERING,SUSPENSION

driving on I495 in Alexandria Virginia, on 26-dec-2022 at 1746 hrs est, north bound, at 55 mph, I drove over a series if raised areas on the roadway and suddenly the steering wheel started shaking violently and then the entire jeep was shaking back and forth like it was going to come apart. i slowed down as much as I could and moved over to a more or less vacant lane. this action made NO difference at all, until the other traffic got out of our way as we slowed down (at rush hour) and then when we were at 35 mph the shaking stopped just as fast as it started. on the way home about 3 hours later, we hit some of the same raised strips (bumps) and had the same issue again at 45 mph. My research found "JEEP DEATH WOBBLE" as a possible failure point.

  • 12/11/2025· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The contact stated that while driving 20-25 MPH, the instrument panel became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. Upon research, the contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System). The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer informed the contact that parts were on back order, but the odometer had to be ordered and recalibrated to prevent tampering. The contact checked the fuses, and the fuses were in good condition. The manufacturer was contacted, but there was a language barrier. The failure mileage was approximately 36,600.

  • 12/09/2023· STEERING,WHEELS

Heavy vibration in steering wheel when hit bumps at highway speeds. This started in Nov 2022 when the Jeep was 5 months old. The dealer replaced the steering damper under warranty. It happened again in the summer of 2023. The steering damper was replaced again. It continues to happen and is now at the dealer for the fifth time with the same issue. The dealership confirms the condition reported each time. They do not know how to fix it and suggest new tires as the Bridgestones that came on the vehicle may be causing this issue. No modifications were made to any of these components. It has the original suspension and tires that came with it when purchased new in June 2022.

I was driving when suddenly I got a message that said “service shifter” I got it 4 times flashing and suddenly I lost steering power, it got hard and couldn’t move the steering wheel and I almost crashed, this has happened many times and when I took it to the dealer ship they said “‘nothing was found” when clearly I have proof of the messages and I have witness”s that have been with me when it’s happened, twice I almost crashed. I’m scared to even drive the truck now.

  • 10/29/2023· VISIBILITY/WIPER

On 10/29/2023 I was driving down the road and I turned on my windshield defrost and my windshield just starting cracking. The crack is about 8-9 inches long upon initial crack and it is continuing to spread.

  • 10/25/2025· STEERING

When traveling around 35-40 mph and a bump or dip in the road (think manhole cover) is hit by either the left or right wheel an extreme wobble and vibration in the steering column occurs. This will last 5-15 seconds until it works itself out. Research on the internet indicates that this is a common problem called a “death wobble”. The concern is that this may cause loss of control resulting in crash. This is an unmodified jeep gladiator bought new at the dealership with all mopar parts. When speaking to the dealership they do not acknowledge that this is an known problem and state that they cannot reproduce the issue. Which is reproducible as I have done it. Since this is a widely reported issue on the internet I believe this to be a severe safety issue that needs to be fixed by jeep. I do have video of one of the many incidents and can provide upon request.

  • 10/25/2024· STEERING

Driving on highway, steering shook aggressively. Had to slow down and pullover off the road. I was able to get back on road and drive again. This has happened before and dealership said it was fixed. It happened again about 6 months later. Vehicle is stock with no modifications.

  • 10/21/2025· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On 10/15/2025, I left work and started my 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The Instrument Control Panel was blank. I researched to see if it was something I could do. I checked the F15 and F41 fuses and all connections to the battery. During my research, I noticed there was a recall for this exact problem. I input my VIN to find out that my Gladiator was not involved. The EXACT same problem as the recall. Why not mine? I'm currently using my GPS to monitor my speed on my phone. I have no other warnings or information to know when I'm driving; being a HUGE SAFETY ISSUE!

  • 10/19/2023· STEERING,SUSPENSION,WHEELS

The vehicle is factory stock with 30,000 miles on it. At highway speeds it experiences what is referred to as the "Jeep Death Wobble" - the vehicle and steering wheel shake violently until I reduce speed to below 50 mph. It is difficult to control and slowing rapidly on the highway is additionally dangerous. It is at a Jeep dealer, but they only want to change the steering dampner. This part is not a real fix - something is loose or not property aligned to cause the shaking. The dampner is a temporary fix that addresses the symptom, not the cause of the shaking. I feel Jeep is not adequately addressing the issue or taking it seriously.

  • 10/18/2025· SUSPENSION

My vehicle has just under 45,000. While driving at freeway speeds I hit a small bump in the road. The vehicle front end wobbled until I slowed back down under 50 mph. This happened 3 times on the same trip. I immediately took it in to a dealer for repair. It is known as a "Death Wobble". The problem was a steering damper had failed. There are other Jeep models that have the same designed front end and have active TSBS for this exact issue. When searching Jeep forums online it is widely considered a problem for the Jeep Gladiator.

  • 10/18/2024· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 MPH, the vehicle completely lost battery charge and suddenly stopped, causing the rear wheels to seize. Additionally, the rear doors failed to unlock. The contact was able to get in and out of the vehicle through the front doors. No warning light indicating that the battery charge was low had illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who was unable to determine why the rear doors failed to open. The contact stated that after the dealer replaced the battery, the rear doors opened as needed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was 38,450.

  • 10/14/2022· POWER TRAIN

On Sept 23, the vehicle went into the dealership service department to replace an apparent faulty transmission oil pan gasket, and today October 14, my Gladiator had to be towed to the dealership because the problem was not resolved, causing the check engine light to come on and additional loss of transmission fluid, apparently coming from the main seal.

  • 10/10/2025· STEERING

  • 10/03/2025· POWER TRAIN

I need to report an issue. After bringing my Jeep in for a minor muffler noise, the dealership contacted me and informed me that the vehicle would not start. They suggested it could be related to the diesel fuel, but they were unable to identify the exact cause. To rule this out, I contacted the city to have the fuel from the gas station tested, and no contamination was found. This was the same station where I had filled up the day before. Additionally, I had already driven the Jeep approximately 80 miles prior to leaving it at the dealership, which further indicates the fuel was not the issue. The dealership proceeded to drain about three-quarters of the diesel from the tank, emptied it completely, and replaced the bottom fuel lines. However, the problem persisted. They then replaced the fuel pump, but even after that, the issue continued. Eventually, they determined that the fuel pump itself was defective. Importantly, this is the same fuel pump that had already been replaced once before under recall. please let me know if you need evidence. I have all the email from city and more txt , etc.

  • 10/01/2024· ELECTRICAL SYSTEMFire

I had been driving for about an hour returning from a camping trip when my wife and I noticed a burning smell in the cab of the vehicle. About 5 seconds later smoke began filling the interior. I pulled over and got my family out of the vehicle, which includes my wife, two kids and a dog. I went to the front of the vehicle and saw flames on the passenger side inner fender as well as the top of the passenger fender. With the help of a friend who was traveling with us, I was able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher I always carry. I think its safe to say a vehicle fire put my entire families safety at risk. I have contacted my insurance company and filed a claim, however no inspections have been performed yet. There were no warning lamps indicating there was an issue.

  • 09/29/2024· UNKNOWN OR OTHERFire

In the early afternoon hours of July 5, 2024, our 2022 jeep gladiator rubicon with only 18,000 miles spontaneously combusted in our driveway after being parked there for just under 24 hours. While working in the yard, my husband noticed thick black smoke coming from the engine. The smoke quickly turned into flames then rapidly intensified as it spread throughout the engine, cabin and then ultimately the entire jeep. The jeep was a total and complete loss with Jeep claiming no responsibility whatsoever. We have over $60,000 in damages to our home, driveway, landscaping and soil (PFAS) from the fire, NOT including the jeep itself. Note *The engine light did go on about a month prior to the fire, which from what we were told by Jeep service dept, was due to multiple misfires. This issue was resolved immediately. After the fire, the jeep was inspected by our insurance company and also by Jeep. Because the fire was so intense and quickly spread, there wasn’t anything left. Jeep never returned our calls and never once tried to make things right! Our safety was at risk for obvious reasons. The Jeep spontaneously started on fire due to no fault of our own. Had we not have been home, or had the Jeep been parked in our garage, facing the garage or the fire started at night while we were sleeping, the outcome would have been quite different. The damage it DID do to our property along with the mental anxiety and stress of trying to pay for repairs is significant enough without actually having our house burn down to the ground. This is unacceptable! Jeep needs to take responsibility!

  • 09/27/2024· POWER TRAIN,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

The High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) failed while I was entering a downhill curve on a paved but narrow mountain road with no shoulder. The HPFP had been under an active recall, (Y78 / NHTSA 21V-880) but every time we went in for service our Jeep dealership said a remedy was not yet available. When I asked if it was safe to drive, they said yes, continue to drive the vehicle and that they would call us when a remedy became available. Not very sage advice. The failure happened while we were on vacation in a remote area of New Mexico, four hours away from home. An unrecognizable warning light flashed but did not remain on. The engine remained running, but the HPFP failure caused a complete loss of power to the engine and transmission. Steering became difficult. I gently braked and coasted to a safe spot. Luckily that spot was a forest service road about a quarter of a mile from where the Jeep lost power. We had the vehicle towed to the nearest Jeep Dealership. They confirmed that the HPFP failed. It took 2 months for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA), and that dealership to address the HPFP issue. At the end of 2 months, they called and said the vehicle was fixed and ready. While driving home from the dealership a check engine light came on. That was [XXX]. We had the vehicle towed to our local Jeep dealership. Our dealership checked and said that there were still metal shavings in the fuel system. Our dealership and FCA have not found a solution and our Jeep is still inoperable and setting at the dealership. I took my vehicle(2022 Jeep Gladiator)in for service on [XXX] for repair relating to a clutch recall 19A/NHTSA 23V-116, also a second E-Brake repair(previous repair was completed under the 36k mile warranty), oil change, inspection and tire rotation. Vehicle is 2 months old and has 3,704 and 3,839 miles at each incident. When driving about a mile from home, the power steering went out, beeps and every system shutting down one at at time. Wipers turned on and took many tries to both turn the truck on on off. The vehicle was immobile. and could neither be shut off or on without multiple tries After sitting waiting for a tow (dealer was only about 500 feet away) I retried and had enough power to get it to the dealer. They "fixed" it saying the shifter was loose. 2 weeks later, the same problem occurred and got stuck in my neighborhood. The vehicle could have been uncontrollable at higher speeds and shifter eventually locked wheels/gears when in motion, when trying to begin moving from a stopped position. There is a possibility of being stuck on railroad tracks or compromised with steering control on winding terrain or poor weather conditions. I was stuck in the middle of the road on both incidents and at risk for being struck by oncoming vehicles. No warning signs were initiated before the incident or during multiple immediately preceding driving trips. Notification of system problems was only made after the incident and power steering failure happened and as the driver manually brought the vehicle to a stop. The first incident of this was reported to the Jeep dealer, who inspected and reported as a loose shifter component and documented as repaired 2 weeks prior to the 2nd incident. I have video of the dash board waring signs after the vehicle was stopped. Other owners have posted the same issues and same recordings on social media. Vehicles reported on-line involve different Jeep models and years.

  • 08/05/2026· POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE

On July 30, my 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon suffered an extremely dangerous, unexpected complete electrical and engine failure while in operation. The vehicle abruptly shut down without any warning, causing an immediate loss of power steering and power braking. Prior to and during this shutdown, diagnostic codes associated with lost communication were triggered, (Lost Communication with Transmission Control Module). A total loss of vehicle power and primary control systems while driving presents a severe, unacceptable safety hazard that places passengers and surrounding traffic at immediate risk of a high-speed collision or severe injury. Given that this model has low mileage (approximately 23,000 miles) and is under factory warranty, a catastrophic system shutdown like this indicates a critical safety defect within the electrical or powertrain control modules. I strongly urge the NHTSA to formally document and investigate this life-threatening defect to ensure manufacturer accountability and prevent potential accidents.

Year/Make/Model: 2022 Jeep Gladiator RESPONDENT DEALERSHIP DETAILS Business Name: Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Physical Address: 20320 Chartown Dr, Cornelius, NC 28031 On July 17, 2026, the vehicle referenced above was presented to Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for the express purpose of executing the mandatory remedy under NHTSA Campaign 26V363 (Mopar 21D). This recall governs an electrical defect within the Electric Hydraulic Power Steering Pump (EHPSP) connector that creates an imminent risk of spontaneous vehicle fire while the vehicle is parked and the ignition is in the "OFF" position. The service department performed a cursory visual inspection and asserted that the vehicle "passed," thereby refusing to perform a physical component replacement. Recognizing the progressive nature of high-resistance electrical defects and the severity of the fire hazard, I explicitly requested a physical hardware replacement of the connector harness. The dealership management flatly refused to order the necessary manufacturer remedy parts or execute the component installation. IV. LEGAL VIOLATION AND REQUEST FOR INVESTIGATION Under federal law, 49 U.S.C. Chapter 301 and specific National Highway Traffic Safety Administration mandates, authorized franchise dealerships are legally obligated to remedy safety defects without charge and to the full satisfaction of eliminating the risk. A simple visual evaluation fails to alter the underlying manufacturing deviation or secure the long-term safety of the vehicle.By refusing to provide the physical component remedy, Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is in direct violation of its statutory recall obligations. I request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration initiate an immediate investigation into this dealership's non-compliance, compel the submission of all service records for this visit, and enforce my federal right to a complete physical hardware remedy to mitigate this safety risk.

What happened: Driving on road, check engine light and traction control light appeared, smelled metallic-type odor, pulled over, before I could put it in park smoke started pouring from under the hood on passenger side. Unable to extinguish due to ball of flames hitting me as I opened hood. Burned it to the ground. Which component: I'm assuming it was the electric hydraulic power steering pump (EHPSP) wiring. The fire was on the passenger side. The vehicle is available for inspection in a tow lot near [XXX]. Safety: It caught fire on a small dirt road in the country. I was the only occupant and I was uninjured. There was nobody on the road at the time. Thankfully the woods got rain recently or it would have caused a massive forest fire. Problem reproduced: No Inspection: No one has inspected the car yet. Warning: There was no other warning other than described above and the truck was behaving perfectly normal. Other: The vehicle was taken to Tri-Lakes Ford in [XXX] to replace the high pressure fuel pump (another recall). They told me they didn't have the parts to fix the steering yet, so I planned on coming back when they did. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The engine turned off while driving multiple times. Unexpected loss of engine power while at highway speeds forced us to maneuver to shoulder on busy highway in 70 mph zone. The dealership service team has not been able to reproduce the event or confirm it happened. The dealership service team inspected the vehicle. There were no warnings, lights, or symptoms before or after, that would have indicated the engine power loss event to us before or after the event occurred, in any of the occurrences.

On [XXX], traveling at the speed limit of 70mph, crossing from Illinois to Indiana my Rear Locker engaged light came on, on the dashboard. I immediately pressed the disengage button... The warning light came on, flashing, but never indicated that the rear locker was disengaged. I then immediately pulled over the vehicle at a safe location. Where i tried unsuccessfully to disengage the locker... I ended up turning the vehicle off, waiting a few minutes, and then turning it back on. The warning light did not initially turn back on. Three more times on the way back on that day, it did turn back on. The third time it never did turn off. I performed a few tests to make sure the Locker was not actually engaged. However, the system continues to tell me that the Rear Locker is engaged. Even though it is not engaged... I'm concerned that the control system for the Rear locker is compromised and poses a substantial risk to drive on the highway in its current condition. The subject Jeep Gladiator was involved in a side impact collision on June 18th, 2022. During the collision, the rear seat belts did not lock resulting in two children colliding with the rear of the two front seats. The side impact airbags did not deploy despite the impact being quite severe. The front airbags did deploy despite there being no impact to the front of the vehicle. Both the seat belts failing and the lack of side impact airbag deployment presents a safety hazard to the rear occupants of the vehicle in the event of a crash. The front airbags deploying without the requisite impact presents a safety hazard to front occupants of the vehicle. The seat belts still will not lock with any amount of pressure. The dealer will not discuss the issue and the insurance company, through a repair shop, currently has possession of the Jeep. There was no warning of any kind that the seat belts would not lock and the airbags would not deploy/deploy.

when driving at a high rate of speed typically 70-75 mph on an interstate, the entire vehicle will randomly start violently shaking this is typically triggered when the vehicle hits a bump or a overpass transition on the road. You have to hit the brakes and slow down to at least 45 before the shaking will stop and you can resume driving again. I was between two semi one time this happened. There are no warning lights or indicators. This first happened in Nov 2022, I have had this inoected by the dealership multiple times. They replaced the steering stabilizer in Jan 2023 I had no further issues until June 2023 when it started happening again. It is currently at the dealership again. They said they can’t test drive it above 60 so they can’t duplicate the problem . I have video of one of the incidents.

Warning lights come up on the dashboard often (brake failure, airbag failure, steering failure, start/stop needs servicing, transmission needs servicing, pullover safely car will turn off, car not in park but it is and won’t turn off) the car turns itself on and off all day. From the beginning the vehicle had electrical issues, not connecting to my phone or Bluetooth, the screen not working, locking and unlocking only working from the key not using the passive entry and having to start the push button by pushing it with the key or it wouldn’t work, it’s gotten progressively worse and now mid drive it will slam to a stop like it hit a wall, flash all the system failure lights then just all the instrument panel lights, it turns on the windshield wipers, the hazards do not work, the headlights start flashing independently etc. it will not turn off or on. It has been towed to the shop twice for this where they replace the two batteries/fuse array and say they can’t get it to happen again but see the codes on the box. It’s spent a combined 140+ days in the shop at this point where I have to fight days to get a rental. The slamming to a stop mid drive is so harsh not only am I almost rear ended but also it’s torn my shoulder forming a cyst that I’ve had trigger point shots and physical therapy for and might need surgery yet they still refuse to buy it back. I have videos.
