NHTSA has flagged a recall on this vehicle as severe (fire risk — park away from structures). Contact a dealer immediately; recall repairs are free.
- TRAILER HITCHESCampaign 22V633000 · 18/08/2022Park outside
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling 2020-2022 Palisade vehicles potentially equipped with a tow hitch harness installed as original equipment, or purchased as an accessory through a Hyundai dealership. Debris and moisture accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.
Risk: A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Fix: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will install a new fuse and wire extension kit, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 18, 2023. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 235.
- AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:CURTAINCampaign 26V034000 · 23/01/2026
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Palisade vehicles. The side curtain air bags for third-row occupants may deploy improperly in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
Risk: Improper side curtain air bag deployment increases the risk of injury during a crash.
Fix: Dealers will install a protective film over the rear window and remove padding, as necessary free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed beginning March 13, 2026. Final remedy owner letters will be mailed in phases, beginning in June 2026 and expected to continue through December 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Palisade vehicles. The windshield wiper motor may operate intermittently or fail to operate due to snow or ice buildup on the windshield, causing the wipers to fail.
Risk: Windshield wiper failure can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the driver-side windshield wiper arm, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 15, 2023. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 243. This recall is an expansion of recall number 22V-627.
- SEAT BELTS: REAR/OTHER:BUCKLE ASSEMBLYCampaign 25V607000 · 12/09/2025
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Palisade vehicles. The seat belt buckles in the driver, passenger, and second-row window seats may fail to latch.
Risk: Seat belt buckles that fail to latch may not properly restrain occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Fix: Passengers are advised to insert the belt firmly into the buckle with a quick and direct motion, pulling on the belt to confirm the seat belt is fully secured, until the recall remedy is performed. Dealers will replace the seat belt buckle assemblies, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed beginning October 23, 2025. Final remedy owner letters will be mailed in phases, beginning in June 2026 and expected to continue through December 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. While driving to work this morning, 12/31/25, at approximately 0730 my front sunroof exploded. There was no collision, no debris, nothing hit the glass. This put me and my child at risk due to exploding glass. I have attempted to contact dealer to inquire but am waiting on a returned phone call. I have filed a claim with my insurance as well. There was no warning that this was going to occur.

Update to previously filed complaint number: 11608439. Safety issue has been resolved. Initial complaint was due to defective seatbelt receiver buckle. Van Hyundai Carrollton dealership and Hyundai customer service refused to repair the issue under existing warranty, both claiming the issue was not a warrantied item. Months after safety issue was first reported, the vehicle was taken to another dealership, Huffines Hyundai Plano, where the faulty seatbelt buckle was diagnosed and quickly replaced free of charge.

Sunroof shattered. We were traveling on I70 in eastern Colorado. The temperature outside was just below freezing and the temperature inside was set to between 72 and 78. We heard a loud bang and we were showered with broken glass. My wife, two sons and I received minor cuts. My wife possibly got some glass in her eye but seems to have gotten it out with no ill effect. While I was very startled I didn’t swerve. If I had, we would likely have lost control of the vehicle. We were traveling at freeway speeds and I think we would have been seriously injured or killed if this had occurred.

2022 Hyundai Palisade had issue with wipers (stopping at 5 inch from designated place), it was reported and repaired previously in 2023 by Hyundai Dealer. However, recently after cold weather, drive side wiper arm was bent inward and passenger side wiper was not working. It is physically impossible for some one to bend wiper arm inwards and provided Hyundai with pictures and Dealer is claiming improper use even when we didn't touch or changed wipers previously. There was a recall previously on this issue but don't remember if my vehicle is part of that recall

When driving down the road with my 7 year old in the vehicle, the single moonroof spontaneously exploded. No warning signs whatsoever, the vehicle is garage kept and there was no impact to the roof of the vehicle. The glass exploded outwards. The safety issue this creates is the glass particles. The loud is incredibly startling which could cause an accident. This was confirmed to have happened before by a buyer at the servicing dealership.

- 12/22/2025· SERVICE BRAKES
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue involving my Hyundai Palisade related to brake failure. While driving my Hyundai Palisade, I experienced a situation where pressing the brake pedal resulted in little to no braking response. The vehicle did not slow or stop as expected, creating an extremely dangerous situation and a significant risk of collision. This occurred without warning, and the brake pedal did not provide normal resistance or stopping power. This issue appears to be intermittent, which makes it difficult to predict or reproduce, but it has occurred more than once. Based on my experience and reports from other Hyundai Palisade owners, this may be related to a malfunction of the braking or ABS system. The lack of reliable braking response presents a serious safety hazard to drivers, passengers, and others on the road. I am concerned that this issue could result in a crash, injury, or worse if not addressed promptly. I am requesting that this complaint be formally recorded and that the brake system on Hyundai Palisade vehicles be thoroughly investigated. If applicable, I also request information regarding any known technical service bulletins, software updates, or recalls related to this issue. - 12/15/2023· SEAT BELTS
Captains seats in the middle of the vehicle keep having the seatbelts unbuckle by themselves when in use. It does not matter the size of the rider. We replaced the entire assembly with original parts for the driver side captain seat in October by a Hyundai dealer. It continues to be an issue. The right side was cleaned and reassembled. This affects the ability for passengers to be safely restrained while the vehicle is in motion and should there be a collision, we are unsure if they buckle would stay latched.
- 12/13/2024· SEAT BELTS
Seat belts will randomly unlatch. Mostly happens in the second row but does occasionally happen in the driver and passenger seat. My kids are normally in the second row and are aware of the issue. We always remind them to check the seat belts by pulling to make sure it is latched. The seat belts have unlatched even after the kids have pulled and verified they are latched which is pretty scary. We will be just driving down the road when the seat belts unlatch. Luckily we have not been in an accident in this vehicle. Afraid the seat belts would not help.

Yet again the wipers failed to operate with a small amount of snow buildup on the wiper arm. I see a recall for the 2020 and 2021 Hyundai Palisades but not for my 2022. I feel this is extremely dangerous and needs to be remedied ASAP. Having to pull over on a busy snowy highway to clear the snow buildup just to get the wipers to work is a catastrophe waiting to happen.

The sun roof in our 2022 Hyundai Palisade exploded on Friday 28th November whilst we were driving down the highway on I25 to [XXX] . All of my family were in the car and the sunroof exploded outwards for no reason. There were no windows or doors open at that time to create pressure and no rock or item hit the sunroof. As you can see from the photos, there is very little glass inside the car and the majority of it exploded up and out from the car and the shape of the glass pointing upwards, indicates the explosion was from the inside of the car, to the outside. Despite the upheaval in the car , we were able to navigate the car safely off the highway. We were in contact with Hyundai corporate (Case number XXX) and they have denied to accept responsibility for this design issue. We have seen numerous incidences of this online for exploding sunroofs on Hyundai Palisades. Our local Hyundai dealership inspected the sunroof and took record of the broken sunroof but they have denied to accept responsibility. We have filed a claim through Safeco insurance (Claim #XXX) and got the sunroof replaced through insurance. I have sent a case to Safeco for Subrogation for them to reclaim costs for Hyundai. We feel this is a significant design issue and will potentially cause other accidents in the future. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
- 12/08/2025· ENGINE
The engine is burning oil at a rate that is unreasonable. When the oil level is low, there is no oil light indicator to show that the car is low on oil. My safety is being put at risk because the engine could seize up at any moment and may have slow or no acceleration. I caught the low oil problem just in time because i have a child who was aware of what the issue was with the car. I have had normal oil changes. This is a known issue in Hyundai's and these vehicles need to be repaired/replaced. The care will be inspected by a Hyundai dealership.

I have had two seat belts in this vehicle stop latching and come unlatched while the car was in motion. The first one was the middle row passenger side and the most recent one was the driver seat. I am now finding out from searching online that this is being investigated.

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the front driver's side and passenger's side seat belts unbuckled independently while driving. The contact stated that the failure had recurred more frequently with the front passenger's side seat belt. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V607000 (Seat Belts), which the contact related to the failure; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
- 12/05/2024· SEAT BELTS
The seatbelt latches are not always reliable. We have only noticed this with the driver’s side seatbelt specifically during cold weather. We do not have a lot of back seat passengers not in car seats; therefore, cannot speak to the reliability of the back seat. We bought our car in 2022 and this issue started in 2023. So far, it is worse this winter than it was last year. It will take a couple of times to latch and will occasionally unlatch later down the road. I am concerned for the safety of the driver if an accident were to occur.
- 12/04/2025· SUSPENSION
Rear suspension has continued to have issues. First noticed after about 20,000 miles. A clunk and gurgling sound in rear. Took to local dealership and they didn’t do anything about it. Took again at 35,000 miles and was ignored again. 42,000 the dealership finally listened and replaced rear shock insulation, problem persisted but was a little more muted. 48,860 miles took it to another dealership and they replaced both rear shocks reporting them both as leaky rear shocks. Now at 70,000 all previous symptoms are back and louder than before.
- 12/01/2023· STEERING,LANE DEPARTURE
The steering wheel on the vehicle would immediately rotate about 10 degrees to the right after starting the vehicle. The steering wheel would then remain in this cocked right position. When driving, the car would pull very hard to the right when letting go of the steering wheel, even following an alignment. This also resulted in the steering wheel being very difficult to turn to the left vs the right. Additionally, this would cause the vehicle to track dangerously close to the right lane lines on the highway when using the lane keep assist feature and forced the driver to consistently pull the steering wheel to the left to track the vehicle straight. I took it to an independent service center for alignment which didn’t correct the issue. I then took it to my local Hyundai dealership for rectification. They recalibrated the steering angle sensor and torque sensor. This corrected the cocked right position of the steering wheel. It improved but did not fully get rid of the right pull and difficulty in turning the steering wheel to the left. I was forced to pay $195 for the steering calibration on a certified pre owned vehicle with just over 10,000 miles on it.

We bought a Hyundai palisade from them. And as a military family we travel and are placed at different duty stations. When we bought the Hyundai palisade, we also got the bill Navarre warranty, it was our fault for not reading every line about the warranty. The Hyundai palisade is a 2022, sadly the brakes started acting like they were not working. We called them and were told that if we use the warranty anywhere other than at that location, we will lose the warranty and since we had been stationed elsewhere since buying the vehicle, we were stuck on what to do. We had to drive the vehicle risking our lives daily, pump the brakes 5-6 times for it to stop. until we could take it back to that location. We took the vehicle in and just as we thought the brakes were bad due to the master cylinder going out. We were given a small rental that the whole family couldn't fit in, we could have gotten a bigger vehicle if we paid the difference. While we waited on them to get the part in. While waiting we were notified that they crashed the vehicle, we are glad they told us, but the damage is done, and the vehicle will lose some of its value. They gave us a small SUV again so small our whole family can't fit in it. We are so upset with Hyundai and Bill Navarre. We have to sit now and reach out to consumer affairs, Hyundai and the BBB as well as the military because none of this is right. It's not right that people buy a vehicle and when something goes wrong due to the auto makers neglect that we have to suffer for it. Just read everything and be aware because Hyundai and the car dealerships don't care about your safety. Social media will be given notice. We took the car in to them on 11/20/2023 and we are not sure what day they wreck the vehicle, but we found out on 11/27/2023. Who is going to give us the difference of what our vehicle is worth and how do we feel safe getting back into an almost new car that the brakes went out in?

I was driving along the feeder road entering the on-ramp of the highway, going about 45 mph, when I heard a loud explosion coming from inside my vehicle. I was obviously startled and my first thought was maybe my kids left a soda bottle in the car and the pressure caused the bottle to explode. It was then I noticed broken glass all over the interior of my vehicle, as well as on my person. It was a clear, sunny day, about 75 degrees, so no extreme weather. There were no vehicles ahead of me, behind me or on either side of me. When I got to a stopping point, I searched my vehicle thoroughly thinking something must have come through the glass and shattered it. But I found nothing in my vehicle that would have come from outside and caused this to happen. While taking photos of everything, I noticed the glass that was left appeared to be bowed upwards instead of inward. It was then I realized whatever happened did not come from outside of my vehicle. I started looking things up online and realized the "exploding sunroof" was actually a very common issue happening to many other people's vehicles. Why a recall on this serious safety issue has not been issued is baffling. I could have been in an accident due to the startling nature of the incident, I could have been cut with shards of glass. Thank God my children were not in the car with me at the time as most of the glass went to the back seats where they would have been sitting. Prior to this happening there were no issues with my sunroof and no obvious warning signs of its impending explosion. I truly hope a recall is issued soon before someone is seriously injured, or worse.

No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, who again diagnosed a failure with the transmission, informing the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced again. The vehicle was repaired. After my 2022 Palisade Calligraphy with 95K miles stalled several times in intersections and ran rough, dealership said I was 4 quarts of oil low. Dealership recommended an oil consumption test and vehicle burns 1 quart every 568 miles. Hyundai denied my claim under their 100K power train warranty since I was 2nd owner, and they did not make a good will offer. After researching, it appears oil consumption is a common problem with Hyundai vehicles, specifically the Palisade. Aftermarket warranty I purchased denied my claim since it didn't cover oil consumption. Submitting this incident so others are aware of oil consumption issues with Hyundai vehicles as vehicle is unsafe when it stalls.

- 11/11/2023· SEAT BELTS
The middle passenger seatbelt receptacle that came with the vehicle is the component that often failed. Passengers sitting in this particular seat would often try to put on their seatbelt and it would not catch. Though intermittent, this would occur 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. Passengers sitting in that particular seat (none of the other seatbelts had problems), would often have to try and engage or click their seatbelt "on" multiple times before it would actually catch. In many cases, the passenger would click the seatbelt, and a few minutes later, it would release without touching the release button. We explained the issue to a dealership on multiple occasions but they said they couldn't replicate the issue. Finally, recently, we explained that we would not leave until they fix it. We had to show the dealer how the seatbelt wouldn't engage and we successfully demonstrated its failure. The dealer reluctantly agreed to order a new seatbelt receptacle. Once the new seatbelt receptacle was installed, we have only experienced successful buckle and receptacle engagements. I believe the initial middle passenger seatbelt receptacle that came with the vehicle was faulty and posed much danger, and at some times, caused the vehicle to have been driven improperly when the seatbelt became unengaged.

Rear struts are leaking hydraulic oil and a knocking noise is noticeable when going over bumps or pulling out the driveway. This is not normal wear on a car that only has 29800 miles. This is not the result of aggressive driving as we only have it for family use and don’t haul absolutely anything. This is bad design and if not fixed, you could start seeing uneven wear on the tires and probably a blowout. There has so be a recall to replace blown struts and not just components like shock absorbers or anything similar. Dealership said it was off, at 200 miles only. They realigned and gave it back. It happens again, right after leaving the dealership. Car was taken back again on 05/06/22 for realignment yet again. Dealership rotated tires and realigned. This did not work again. So the third time, 06/23/22 we received another rotate and realignment. Again, this did not help, and a new front strut was ordered. The would drive right off the road, to the right, every time. Creating a major safety issue for our two toddlers, and family. The front strut was installed on 10/12/22. The dealership has been frustrated due to not being able to fix the alignment. Mind you, brand new car, 2022 Palisade. Front strut put on, but the vehicle is veering right again. Even the driver who picked the car up said he noticed the problem. Cooperate said we must get a second opinion from a Hyundai dealership before they can intervene. We have taken this brand new car to the same dealer at 200 miles, 1,000 miles, 5,000 miles and most recently for the strut. We’re going to get into an accident and Hyundai beats around the bush.

Child window lock button problems. At times when the child window lock button is depressed the car cycles through the locking sound. Happens repeatedly and the only way to turn it off is to turn off the child window lock safety feature.

The oil filter housing is plastic and breaks easily. Most places I tried to get an oil change refuse to work on this car because they don’t want to be liable for any damage to the engine do to a cracked oil filter housing. This is a know issue and the manufacturer has not issued a recall or offered a fix. This forces owners to bring there vehicles to a Hyundai dealership and pay a premium for an oil change.
