I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the vehicle I purchased from your dealership. Despite my expectations at the time of purchase, the vehicle has not met the standards that were represented to me. This letter is intended to address my concerns regarding the vehicle’s features, undisclosed recalls, and significant mechanical and safety issues discovered immediately after delivery. I discovered—through the GMC mobile application, not through the dealership—that the vehicle had two to three active recalls at the time I received it, including recalls involving the engine and transmission. I was never informed of these recalls by the dealership prior to or at the time of sale, which is extremely concerning. After discovering the recalls myself, I scheduled a service appointment. I was informed that the recalls were addressed and marked as resolved in GMC Springdale. Despite the recalls being cleared, only two days later, the vehicle began experiencing issues. The screen displayed warning messages, and the vehicle developed a vibration, to the point that it became unsafe to drive. They are changing us $820+tax I was forced to use roadside assistance, it hasn't been a month yet and the dealer are refusing to cover the damage. I have been calling but they said they are busy or they use somebody else to speak.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 - 60 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as intended for approximately one second before accelerating. A dealer was contacted. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnosis was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was in the process of towing the vehicle to another location. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

The onstar system failed and will not work. This affects the ability to make emergency calls, report/determine our vehicle’s location, the vehicle’s navigation system, and some of the blind spot monitors are also affected, though intermittently. The issue first happened two days after the dealer fixed a recall with the serial data gateway module. We called onstar and they were able to resend a signal and it was fixed temporarily. Two days later it happened again and the amount of electronics affected in the vehicle is astounding. We called onstar again and went through all the troubleshooting and they say they can’t fix it, it’s a dealer problem now and the module needs to be replaced. The dealer states this is a common problem but will not cover it under warranty. In the beginning there was no immediate indication that systems had failed other than certain electronics not working. However after a couple weeks there is now a check engine light associated with all the electronics that are failing due to this defective telecom module. In a 2 year old vehicle, this is highly frustrating and poses safety concerns for my family.

  • 11/06/2025· FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

While driving northbound on I2 at approximately 70mph I experienced a sudden loss of engine power. Vehicle would not accelerate and engine ultimately powered off. I was able to move across three lanes of traffic and pull over on the side of the highway. I attempted to restart the vehicle but was unsuccessful and after about 10 minutes the engine managed to start. The ‘check engine’ light was on after the incident and upon arriving back home I ran a code scan that resulted in code P129F indicates a problem with the fuel pump control module. There is recall #N252516900 dated 9/11/2025 which covers this issue for 2021 models only. This occurred on a 2023 model.

This occurred on 9/29/24 took vehicle to dealership on 10/14/24 (earliest appointment), they completed two recalls, could not fined any thing wrong and no "codes" were showing. Engine seemed to "shutter" not like a electrical was disconnected to engine (my opinion). This a safety issue and should be addressed! One hour into a trip from Reno to Bay Area at 18k miles on my car the vehicle lost power while driving on the highway. It went into neutral and display said to hit start which yielded a warning that ability to shift was no optimal. Preceding the shut down I lost acceleration power. I was able to exit highway and coast off to the side of an exit road where it came to a stop and shifted to park in the middle of the road. Had it been one mile up the highway I would have hit another incline and the car would have stopped on a major two lane interstate. Ultimately towed back to dealer in Reno where I was informed my engine seized and needed to be replaced.

I am now concerned that this defect is built-in the vehicle itself.

  • 08/31/2025· POWER TRAIN,ENGINE

At highway speed, in heavy traffic, and falling snow, the engine seized with sudden loss of power, including loss of brake and steering sensitivity. We were traveling downhill so, while avoiding other traffic and weather, maintained momentum to pull over to the side. We were stranded at night in snowy weather in remote Utah. It took hours to get towed to the nearest town, Fillmore, where the mechanic determined that the engine was seized and that no mechanic in the town could repair the issue. GM would not tow vehicle to our home, they would only tow to nearest dealership - which was farther away from our home (over 3 hours away). After repeated attempts with GM for tow assistance over the course of 13 days, we towed the vehicle to Salt Lake City, our home city at our own expense. The Dealer said 6 of 8 rod bushings were bad, ordered a new engine which took over 2 months to receive and install. • 08/28/2025· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The driver-side headlight and turn signal on my 2022 GMC Yukon stopped functioning completely. This issue began before GM recall 22V‑903 and worsened immediately after the recall repair was performed. The recall repair required three separate dealership visits because it was initially performed improperly, yet the problem was never fully resolved. During interactions with GM and the dealership, I was told the repair might involve a $600 part, but they could not guarantee that replacing it would fix the issue. It is unreasonable and unsafe for me to be expected to cover the cost of repairs for a problem that was caused or worsened by a recall repair performed incorrectly. The malfunction creates a serious safety hazard, as oncoming drivers cannot see my turn signals, and I nearly had an accident because of it. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership and documented in GM Case #74327012. Prior to complete failure, the driver-side turn signal and daytime running lights occasionally stayed on after shutting off the vehicle which I was told that was caused by the recall. The vehicle has been inspected by authorized GM dealerships multiple times, but the defect persists. The component is available for inspection upon request.

As we were leaving Cortez, CO. on a two lane highway we were passing a couple of cars with plenty of room to get back into to the driving lane when we lost ALL power from the engine. The cars we had just passed had to slam on their brakes as we were trying to keep from a head on collision. But with no power and the Denali in neutral we couldn’t change anything. We coasted to a County Road approach and it DIED in the middle of it. NO POWER. We had to call a tow truck who took it back into Cortez to Webb Chevrolet. The engine had seized. God was watching over us that day. We have since found out that there has been MANY seized engines with the 2022, 6.2 liter engines. In many new pickups and few of the suburbans. In fact, the Webb Chevrolet people said they have had one that they replaced the seized engine with a new 6.2 liter engine and in 500 miles that NEW ENGINE ALSO SEIZED! This is a MAJOR SAFTEY ISSUE!! THIS ENGINE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE IT RUINS LIVES OF THE FAMILIES WHO ARE DRIVING THEM!!. We only had 42,000 miles on our 2022 Yukon Denali and Chevrolet couldn’t even rent a vehicle to get home and it would be a month to have to wait for a new one. We had to trade vehicles to get home. Point is, when the engine seizes while passing cars on a two lane, somebody is going to die. Families aren’t at fault when the company has been notified of their negligence to get a recall on this engine and fixed. We’ve had our Denali in for service several times for electrical issues. This should qualify as a Lemon Law. Instead, GMC tried to send a $5000.00 voucher to use when we buy a new vehicle. This family has bought GMC, CADILAC’S, CHEVY’S FOR OVER 50 years. We like our salesman and would continue this business, but not if you don’t make SAFETY FIRST!! RECALL THIS ENGINE NOW!!! Take care of YOUR customers and OUR friends! LOOK FOR YOURSELF THE AMOUNT OF SEIZED ENGINES IN THIS 6.2LITER ENGINE. Thank You, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The engine in my 2022 GMC Yukon XL equipped with the 6.2L L87 V8 experienced a sudden loss of power while traveling at interstate speed. The vehicle had previously received the GM L87 engine recall remedy. Despite the recall being completed, the engine failed, leaving me and my family in a dangerous situation. The vehicle is currently at a GMC dealership and is available for inspection upon request. The sudden loss of engine power on a busy interstate created an immediate safety hazard. Traffic was traveling at highway speeds, and the vehicle rapidly lost the ability to maintain speed, increasing the risk of being struck from behind or being involved in a serious collision. My family was in the vehicle at the time, making the incident especially concerning. The GMC dealership has confirmed that the engine failure is related to the L87 engine issue and advised that the repairs will be covered under the applicable warranty/recall-related coverage. Additionally, after the original recall service was performed, an expanded recall was added to my VIN, further indicating that the original remedy may not have fully addressed the underlying defect. The vehicle is currently being inspected by the authorized GMC dealership. Prior to the engine failure, there were no warning signs indicating an imminent catastrophic failure. The recall service had already been completed, leading me to believe the vehicle was safe to operate. The engine nevertheless failed after the recall remedy, raising concerns that the corrective action may not be sufficient to prevent future failures

The service suspension notification, replace the battery in your key fob notification (which was replaced in February), and the check engine light have been coming on intermittently since then. All of these things occurred prior to engine failure the first time. The dealership would not look at our vehicle again until our vin was called for the recall. 6/22/25 the suspension sensor was replaced and the recall “test” was done. 6/27/25 the service suspension light was back flashing and GM was unable to find any codes. 6/29/25 the check engine light was flashing again. I found online that GM knew of this issue with the 2022 GMC Yukon XL vehicles and a recall was made however this vehicle VIN number was not included in this recall. I notified Conley GMC and they stated they were not informed of this issue. I made a claim with GM and told them of this issue and my safety concerns and they advised that because this was not included in the recall that there was nothing they could do and they would not be covering financial assistance or reimbursement and they called this an inconvenience instead of a real safety issue as each time my vehicle had no working brakes. While driving on I-77 South near exit 3 Charlotte, NC -with no warning signals or indication the vehicle lost power and shut down as I was driving at a speed of 70 miles an hour on the highway, Fortunately I was able to struggle and pull off to the emergency lane of the highway. I tried several times to start vehicle with no success. The vehicle was towed to the dealership immediately. My major concern is that this year model "2022 "GMC has not been RECALLED. A very popular model that families rely on for travel on a daily basis. At 37,000 miles with NO warning this happened on a very busy highway that could have resulted in a major accident. I bought this vehicle for extended travel that involves mostly highway. This presents in my eyes a very serious safety hazard that has not been addressed by GMC for this model vehicle. I look forward to your prompt investigation on this very disturbing matter.

On [XXX], my wife was driving her 2022 Yukon XL in [XXX] , when she heard a loud pop and realized her sunroof had exploded and shattered. Thankfully, the sunshade was closed, which prevented shards of glass from entering the interior of the vehicle. She was driving alone, had not gone under an overpass, and there were no other vehicles in front of her. There was no indication that a foreign object struck the glass and the remaining glass is clearly protruding outwards. A quick search on this issue revealed that this is not an isolated incident and has been noted by consumer reports and a previous NHSTA investigation. On June 20th, 2024, I contacted GM customer service. I was told that there are no recalls, extended coverage, or safety bulletins on the sunroofs. The customer service agent stated she had never heard of the issue and recommended that I contact my closest dealership for repairs. Repairs are estimated to be around $750. I am urging the NHSTA to reopen an investigation on defective sunroof glass and GM to issue a recall before someone is injured or killed. I recently purchased a used 2022 Yukon XL Denali (with 6.2 Engine). 8 days after purchase, I was pulling a boat trailer, when all of the sudden the vehicle lost power on I-80. The vehicle automatically shifted to Neutral. I was luckily able to get to the left lane and there happened to be an offramp right there that I was able to coast to and be off the freeway. I pushed the Park button and then tried to restart the engine. Then I noticed the check engine light was on. Nothing happened when I pushed the start button. I called a tow truck and could not get the vehicle out of Park. The tow truck operator had to pull the vehicle on to the flatbed with the rear wheels locked in Park. I got the vehicle taken to a dealer and they said the engine needed to be replaced. Luckily, the vehicle has just less than 60,000 miles so it is covered by GM's power train warranty. The is still with a dealer being fixed. Potentially in a week I will get the vehicle back. This is scary that there is NO warning and all of the sudden the engine stops working. GM has a real problem with the 6.2 engine failures.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that while driving approximately 74 MPH uphill, the vehicle suddenly lost power and shut off. The vehicle became disabled in a travel lane of the interstate. The vehicle was towed by flatbed to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer determined that the vehicle had experienced engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired because the failure was not covered under recall. The vehicle was associated with special coverage. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 70,548.

On two separate occasions the front windshield wipers have stopped functioning while driving in heavy rains. Seemingly the only way to resume the wipers working was to cycle through "rain sense" options in the vehicles settings menu and turn off and on the vehicle several times. Unclear if it was those actions or simply waiting that caused the problem to abate. Discussed the issue with our dealer when in for service but they advised that they have seen that problem before but don't know what causes it. There could be several issues but they cannot address unless they recreate the situation and it is so random that it is hard to do. There are some internet forums (one is linked below) where this problem is discussed so it is clearly not just our vehicle but some sort of design flaw. In any case, it is very, very dangerous. The engine system (6.2L V8 L87) in my 2022 GMC Yukon XL failed due to a known manufacturer defect tied to NHTSA Campaign 25V-274. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The issue involves the risk of sudden loss of propulsion, which could result in a crash or injury to myself or others. This is a serious safety concern, and I do not feel safe operating the vehicle in its current condition. The defect has been acknowledged by GMC, but there is no remedy or repair currently available. I have contacted the selling dealership (Rick Hendrick Buick GMC, Duluth, GA) repeatedly for the past three weeks with no returned calls. I also contacted GMC corporate, who confirmed the recall but refused a buyback or replacement because no repair has occurred — even though a fix does not exist. They offered a loyalty voucher that does not come close to addressing the safety risk or impact. The problem has not yet been inspected by a dealer or manufacturer because there is no repair action to take at this time. No police, insurance, or third-party has reviewed the vehicle. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the issue — the problem was revealed when I looked up the VIN and learned of the active recall on the engine. I am requesting NHTSA’s support to ensure General Motors provides a replacement vehicle and compensation for this ongoing and unresolved safety hazard. I should not be placed in a position where I am expected to continue operating a vehicle with a known and dangerous defect that has no resolution in place.

it’s the lifters that are collapsed and The lifters are pitted because the camshaft is cracked. So in couple months some of my friends who owned GMC Yukon had same problem. I think this problem become a common problem need to investigated by GMC and the cost should paid by GMC no matter it’s in guaranteed or not. Repair cost is around 10000$.

Since purchase there has been a grinding noise when the vehicle is initially started up and put into reverse. I am worried that this is associated with the current engine recall that is on this vehicle. There is an increased risk associated with this vehicle as I am paralyzed and unable to exit the vehicle quickly, which is increased drastically when I have toddler and baby in vehicle. This risk comes from the reported 42 potential fires related to this recall in malfunctioning engines. There have been no warning lamps or indicators that have appeared to date.

My 2022 GMC Yukon XL with the 6.2L L87 engine was previously subject to NHTSA Recall 25V-274 / GM Recall N252494000 for L87 engine loss of propulsion. The recall was closed by the dealer as “PicoScope Inspection — Engine Passed / Update Engine Oil Type,” with the oil/cap/filter remedy. The vehicle was later brought back to the dealer for engine noise/knocking, check-engine light, and engine oil light/oil warning concerns. The dealer has now confirmed that the dipstick was not picking up oil, the oil level was severely low, the oil condition was severely degraded, and abnormal engine noise was heard. My VIN also shows active GM Special Coverage N252494003 through 1/15/2032 or 150,027 miles. The dealer previously stated that the underlying PicoScope pass data from the recall inspection is no longer available to the dealership after submission. This is not the first oil-related concern. During a prior service visit in September 2025, around the same time the L87 recall was completed, the dealer documented an engine oil low message and an upper oil pan leak causing the low-oil message. I am concerned the L87 engine may be failing after the recall remedy was previously marked complete, creating a risk of engine failure or loss of propulsion while driving. I am also concerned the current engine/oil/noise condition is being treated as customer-pay/out-of-warranty before the root cause is fully diagnosed or reviewed by GM under Special Coverage N252494003.

Engine failure occurred while driving with two children in the vehicle, creating a serious safety hazard. The vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power and stalled completely while in motion, with no prior warning lights, alerts, or messages. Prior to this failure, the vehicle had already failed the GM PICO test related to the known L87 engine issue, and the recommended corrective action was changing the oil to 0W-40 synthetic and replacing the oil cap. Despite that intervention, the engine still failed at approximately 49,000 miles. A sudden complete engine stall without warning while driving created a dangerous situation, particularly with children in the vehicle. This raises concern that the prior corrective action did not resolve the underlying defect..

My wife and I were going 70 plus MPh on [XXX] in Georgia in the far left lane. Our car completely lost power were had to maneuver across 2 Lanes to get to the emergency lane it was very scary traffic was blowing horns and it was awful. We made it to the emergency lane and proceeded north at a creeping pace with engine making lots of noise. We made it to a hotel next to [XXX] we were in Savannah Georgia. We tried to contact the local GMC dealer but it was after hours so we stayed the night and next morning got a tow to Critz GMC. At Critz we were Informed our engine was beyond repair and needed replacement. They proceeded to offer me $10,000 on a trade in, said it would take 3 months to get a replacement engine so I called my dealer back home White Motors Roanoke Rapids NC and they advised it would take several months to get a new eng and they couldn't tow me in so I called David Towing and they said they would come get it for me in the next week. We to Enterprise to rent a car and there were none available for a week I decided to buy a new car from Critz to get home .
