  • 12/28/2023· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,BACK OVER PREVENTION

Since purchasing this vehicle in January of 2023, it has been to the dealer three times to repair a failed blind spot monitoring system and rear cross traffic alert system due to corroded pins in the connectors of the sensors. According to the dealer, this is due to the connector utilizing only four of eight pins which leaves four pins unused and open to corrosion. On the third trip in, the dealer applied, "super glue" to try and prevent any future corrosion. While there was not a specific accident related to this, I do believe this has the potential to cause issues in the future if not properly addressed by Ford. See attached pdf from dealer for additional supporting information.

Trailer brake controller is not engaging trailer brakes when the brake pedal is pressed. The trailer brakes will engage when manually squeezing the controller. Exact same symptoms as my 2021 f150 which had the recall. This is a September build, dealer service is telling me there is nothing wrong, it all checks out.

  • 12/10/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I just had the same issue described in the forum listed below. Extremely loud max volume screeching static through the speakers. Tried turning the car off and on several times, tried turning the radio off, tried switching to Serius xm radio, nothing would make it stop and it was completely unsafe to drive it like that. It was too loud to hear anything else over it and it was so jarring. I now have a headache and i’m nervous to drive it for fear of it happening again. My husband had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop. I have a video but it doesn’t seem like I can upload it here, only pics. https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/extremely-loud-electrical-pop-followed-by-loud-static.9591/page-4

I have a 2022 Ford Expedition that Ford states some of these are under recall for the backup camera but not mine. On 10/28/25, my backup camera went out with a blank blue sometimes black screen. I took it to Marler Ford where they gave me an estimate of $1000 to replace the camera. I received an oil change on the same day. When I got home I noticed from the diagnostics that my camera was loose in its setting and was able to easily remove it. I am assuming this occurred while at the dealership and will address this with them. While I contemplated what to do, I noticed a change 1 week ago when i backed up even though the camera was removed. It showed the back up lines and no longer the blank screen. I placed the camera back in and now it is working but is still loose so I removed it so it doesn’t fall out. I called Ford. My case number is CXH-XXX. In summary, Ford is still not owning up to the recalls that are a major safety issue in these vehicles and need to be held accountable. I am not confident that this issue will not return if the issue is not fixed. It has caused me stress in not allowing me to be as confident in reverse. It has not resulted in a accident at this time. • 12/01/2022· VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

General: While driving this rental vehicle over the span of three days, I noticed and confirmed over a dozen times that the vehicle's speed control would dramatically increase with NO driver input or actions. Specific: The vehicle's cruise control would be on and active, set at various speeds; 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 (long, straight road with varying speed limits). In different circumstances (sometimes when being overtaken by another vehicle, or cresting a hill or when beginning to climb a hill), the speed control, while set would immediately, with no driver input other than light steering INCREASE to 15-30 mph above the speed at which the cruise control was set. Over the period of three days of rental I was able to verify this behavior many times and I was able to capture a video that shows the speed set increase from 65 mph to 90 mph immediately, and the vehicle would begin aggressive acceleration. I have a clear video of the steering wheel and gauge cluster that I cannot attach to this report, but will email upon request. In the video, the malfunction is at the 13 second mark. In this video, the speed control setting increased from 65mph immediately to 90mph and the vehicle started accelerating. Switching the speed control off, or tapping the brake ceased the acceleration, as expected. Vehicle was reported to National car rental and an attempt was made to report it to Ford. Because it was a rental, I am unaware of any corrective action or inspection that may have, or may take place.

My speakers / sound system made a loud sound and minutes later my speakers were explosively loud. I couldn’t get the noise to stop. It was a static / gunfire at the highest volume. I turned my car in and off and couldn’t get it to turn off. It blew my ear drums out. Ultimately had to pull the amplifier fuse to get it to turn off. We have not had it inspected yet. We are taking it to the dealership tomorrow although I have heard of many issues of other owners having the same speaker problem. The only thing that happened before this incident. I thought it sounded like something fell inside my door or dash. I was in park when that happened and had just gotten into my car. Not five minutes later, the speakers blared. Thank god my kids were not in the car this time but I have an infant and he is in my car daily. I couldn’t focus on driving. I almost crashed my car. I had to pull over on a dangerous road just to get away from the sound

  • 10/15/2025· SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

When slowing down to turn into a parking lot my car suddenly experienced sudden “phantom braking”. I was going slowly and I wasn’t braking. My car only has automatic braking when cruise control is on. Cruise wasn’t on. The car suddenly braked hard and chimed twice. My car has a collision warning system but that doesn’t chime like this. I didn’t see any dash warning lights, it looked normal by the time I looked for warning lights. I coasted into the parking lot because I wasn’t even sure if the engine was running. I couldn’t find anything wrong and everything has seemed normal since then. When it braked, I had my foot above the brake pedal because I was getting ready to brake further as I turned. When the phantom braking happened I felt the pedal move. It suddenly depressed then and sprung back up. I believe I was going less than 20mph.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 40-80 MPH, there was an abnormal vibration in the vehicle. There was an abnormal humming sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the wheels, drive shaft, and u-joint needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Bob Moore Ford (8948 S I-35 Service Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73149); where it was diagnosed and determined that the tires and the rims needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 400.

Recently, the rear evaporator core failed, causing a refrigerant leak that disabled the entire A/C system. This left both the front and rear HVAC units inoperable, which not only compromises passenger comfort but also directly impacts safety by reducing the system’s ability to defrost and dehumidify the windshield in hot and humid conditions. After researching this issue, I have confirmed that rear evaporator core failures are being reported by numerous 2021–2023 Expedition owners, many of whom describe identical failures at relatively low mileage. These failures often result in costly repairs ranging from $2,000–$3,500. While Ford has issued Technical Service Bulletins (e.g., TSB 22-2089) related to evaporator and sensor issues on Expeditions, there is currently no recall or extended coverage program for rear evaporator core failures. However, the pattern of owner complaints, dealer diagnoses, and additional NHTSA filings shows that this is a known defect affecting a critical vehicle system. Given: •The premature and widespread nature of these failures, •The documented safety concerns raised in NHTSA complaints, and •The high financial burden placed on customers for what appears to be a design defect, I contacted my local dealer who filed a claim with Ford customer support. My claim was immediately denied and they did not offer any financial support. The year of the vehicle was within 3yr/36,000 warranty however current mileage is ~44,000 and exceeded threshold for warranty assistance.

  • 09/25/2025· BACK OVER PREVENTION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Since purchase in 2022, the vehicle has experienced repeated failures of multiple safety systems. These include frequent warnings that “Pre-Collision Assist is Not Available,” repeated failures of Blind Spot Detection with Cross Traffic Alert, Tire Pressure Monitoring warnings, and messages to “Check 12-Volt Battery.” These system malfunctions occur intermittently and unpredictably, creating unsafe driving conditions. In addition to the warning messages, the rear liftgate has failed to latch properly and on at least one occasion opened while the vehicle was in motion. This poses a serious hazard to vehicle occupants and to other drivers on the road. The safety risk is significant because these systems are designed to prevent or mitigate crashes. Their failure leaves the driver without critical safety features, and the trunk latch defect could cause loss of cargo or injury. These problems have been ongoing for years and have not been permanently corrected despite software updates and recall activity. The dealer has acknowledged the symptoms and advised the vehicle was unsafe to drive.

The audio system of my Expedition has twice made max volume level popping sounds in the dash. It sounded as if fireworks were going off in my car. I turned my car off both times. One time it stopped when turning the car off, the other time I turned the car off and opened and closed the doors multiple times as that usually kills the power to the vehicle bit it continued loudly popping. The popping could be heard from outside of the vehicle it was so loud. It did this for about 15 minutes before we finally got it to stop. I have this on video amd would be happy to send it but it will not let me download it.

Summary of Safety Issues with Chicco Car Seat 1.) Magnetic Chest Clip Disassembly (October 2023) • At [XXX] old, my daughter disassembled the magnetic chest clip while seated in the car. • She placed a small part in her mouth, creating a choking hazard. • I was stranded until a replacement car seat could be brought. • I replaced the clip with a plastic version Chicco provided, but the original design posed a serious and unacceptable safety risk. 2.Child Unlocking Base Mechanism (April 2025) • My daughter is able to unlatch the seat from its base while rear-facing. • She does this repeatedly, even after being re-secured. • Chicco only sent a “lever lock” cover despite my request for a full replacement, which was ignored. • This flaw allows a toddler to disengage the seat mid-drive, rendering the product unsafe and unusable. 3.) Cup Holder Suffocation Hazard (June 2025) • My daughter easily removes the silicone cup holders. • On one occasion, she placed one over her mouth and nose, creating suction and restricting her breathing. • I have since removed the cup holders entirely, though this alters the seat’s intended use. • This presents a clear suffocation hazard. 4.) Excessive Rattling When Not in Use (Ongoing) • When installed rear-facing and unoccupied, the seat rattles loudly during travel. • The noise is so disruptive I have rotated the seat forward-facing at times to reduce it. • While less severe than the other hazards, this reflects poor product integrity and contributes to ongoing safety concerns. It wouldn't even attempt to turn over.

Bought car new last year. Current 15,000 miles. On Saturday, September 2, I turned the ignition off and then opened the drivers door. Suddenly there was a horrendous loud static noise coming from I assume the radio speakers. It was deafening, and lasted about 3 seconds. I have read about other Ford trucks having this problem, but it is the first time for me. I will take it to my Ford dealer tomorrow morning. Apparently there is a quick program update to correct the issue. If this happened while I was driving, it may have caused an accident.

I was driving in the express lane NB I-15 in Utah. I was at highway speeds with no one around me. I had the visor that closed on my sunroof when all of a sudden I hear a loud explosion, it scared me and I immediately slowed and pulled off the road. I first thought maybe it was a tire, I checked and all were intact, then I saw glass and looked up on my roof and noticed that the sunroof was completely blown out. I apparently lost my Panoramic portion of my sunroof, not the part that actually opens, the fixed portion. The glass is angled out like a slope up a mountain. I am lucky the visor was closed as it minimized the glass inside the vehicle and onto my kids. I just bought this vehicle from Ford on a special order and took possession of it 3-4 weeks ago. This was on a Sunday afternoon 8/21. I took it straight to the dealer Monday morning 8/22, they currently still have the vehicle. I have had no updates from the dealer. No warning lamps/lights before or after the incident.

Upon entering the inter-section the vehicle started to run rough, and ultimately stalled and would not restart. She was able to coast into a parking lot entrance within On Top of World subdivision where we live and get off of main road. After multiple AAA attempts to jump start, AAA confirmed the vehicle was unable to be jump started, therefore vehicle was towed to local ford dealership for diagnostics. They tried to jump start multiple times and after 2 days, pushed it into garage. They confirmed fuel pump failure and replaced with current design. We were charged for towing, new battery, and fuel pump system replacement with current design and advised we would have to bring it back in when Ford identified remedy for current recall. No loaner vehicle provided. We are very concerned as if this event had occurred on an interstate, there is a high risk of accident/injury. • 08/16/2026· VISIBILITY/WIPER

I am reporting a potential safety defect involving the HVAC air vent assemblies in my 2022 Ford Expedition. I have now had TWO separate vent directional-control/deflector handles break during normal use. The plastic attachment points are extremely thin and fragile and appear inadequate for a component specifically designed to be routinely adjusted. This does not appear to be an isolated incident. Broken HVAC vent controls/deflectors have been reported MULTIPLE times by Ford owners across various online Ford forums and owner discussions. The number of similar consumer reports raises concern that this may be a recurring design or material defect rather than normal wear or accidental damage. When the control breaks, the vent can no longer be properly aimed. This creates a potential visibility issue because HVAC airflow is necessary to clear condensation and fog from the windshield and front side windows. In hot humid climate, windows can fog rapidly. Losing the ability to properly direct airflow can delay clearing the glass and reduce driver visibility. The defect also prevents proper A/C airflow from being directed toward the driver. Florida vehicles can reach extremely high interior temperatures when parked. Reduced ability to direct cold air toward the driver can contribute to excessive heat exposure, discomfort, fatigue, dehydration, and potentially heat-related illness, which may impair safe vehicle operation. Having two separate vent controls fail under normal use, combined with numerous similar reports from other Ford owners, suggests a possible systemic durability defect. I am requesting that NHTSA review complaints involving 2022 Ford Expeditions and other Ford vehicles using the same vent assemblies to determine whether an investigation or corrective action is warranted.

The component that failed is the left front driver side headlight of the vehicle, resulting in low visibility and inability to see or drive the vehicle in it's current condition at night. The only "warning" that could potentially have been a "warning", was the blinker began rapidly blinking the day before the headlight stopped functioning; the blinker no longer worked in the headlight but still worked on the driver mirror and back taillight. By the next day, the driver side headlight no longer functioned. It is my knowledge that Ford has a lifetime guarantee on the headlights for this make, model, and year of vehicle. Due to this not functioning, I would like to get it properly replaced under warranty or guarantee of Ford.
