- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:ELECTRIC:CONTROL MODULECampaign 21V758000 · 29/09/2021Park outside
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, GMC Sierra 2500, and Sierra 3500 vehicles with electronic brake control modules (EBCM) replaced during vehicle assembly. The bolts that attach the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) assembly may not be properly tightened, which could fail to seal the two sub-assemblies and allow water intrusion.
Risk: Water in the BPMV may cause an electrical short circuit and increase the risk of fire.
Fix: Owners are advised to park outside and away from other structures until the recall repair is completed. Dealers will replace the BPMV assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 20, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212349181.

The transmission control valve may fail and cause the rear wheels to lock-up.
Risk: Rear wheel lock-up can increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will install new transmission control module software, free of charge. GM will provide a special coverage program to cover the repair of transmissions that are identified by the remedy software as containing a defective control valve. Owner notification letters were mailed December 12, 2024. - LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:TAILGATE:LATCHCampaign 24V060000 · 01/02/2024
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in park.
Risk: An unlatched tailgate may open while driving and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Owners are advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving. Dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 17, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Vehicle gives "shift to park" warning when already in park. Occasionally, vehicle will not shut off. Once it does shut off, dash lights and controls do not shut off. Vehicle will not lock upon exit. Warning lights and beeping causes battery to drain. I have been left stranded with dead battery twice.
- 12/08/2024· POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
When shifting into park and turning ignition OFF a message appears on dash saying to “shift to park”. Vehicle will shut off but will not then shift, nor will steering will lock AND ignition will NOT shut off. It is unclear if vehicle is actually in Park mode. Vehicle has to be left running for up to several hours before transmission recognizes that it is in park and then ignition will turn off correctly. This issue has been experienced by many Chevrolet owners. Issue has been reported to GM.

Inner brakes are worn down to the sensor at 35,000 miles. While the outside brakes are perfectly fine not much wear. There is a recall on the brake valve issue and bpmv same year and model of mine but my vin does not fall under that recall. I believe there is something wrong inside my rear brake system that is causing inner brakes to be worn that low compared to the outside brakes.

- 10/06/2025· TIRES
These tires are good year wrangler trail runner at size lt275/65 r20. My total mileage on these tires was 40970These were the original tires that were installed when the truck was purchased new. My tires are rotated every 5000 miles. Tire pressure is maintained at the exact pressure. I was driving on an interstate at 70 mph. A vibration started. I checked the tire pressure monitors and all showed normal pressures - I stopped and observed the tires were no longer round but had bulges to one side of the tread surface Both are likely to blowout and have to be replaced Two did this same thing in last 2 weeks
- 10/06/2025· TIRES
Three of four original Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner AT tires (DOT 0222) on my 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 have experienced catastrophic tread separations under normal use with 28,095 miles. The first two failed under warranty and were replaced at my expense; the third failed at highway speed, causing vehicle damage and a $1,000 insurance deductible plus additional cost to replace the tire. The dealership advised GM sent the failed tires for analysis, but GM denies receiving or reviewing them. Multiple NHTSA complaints describe identical failures on this same tire model (e.g., #11522434, #11482843, #11457647). This pattern indicates a potential widespread safety defect.
- 10/02/2023· PARKING BRAKE
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked, and he was in the rear of the truck bed releasing the boat from the trailer hitch, the vehicle inadvertently rolled into the lake. The transmission oil coolant rubs against the engine oil coolant line causing one or both lines to leak out. There are no warning lights when this happens, the vehicle will just stop accelerating. I was on the freeway pulling a trailer weighing about 9k pounds, traveling at about 75 mph when this happened to me. I was able to clear the traffic and limp off the freeway. The car was towed to Henson Chevrolet Buick GMC in Madisonville, TX. I contact my insurance company USAA and explained what happened they did not wish to look into it. The dealership is very vague when providing updates. I have been also working with a GM customer service rep. No one seems to really care about the safety issue. I have requested a detailed report of the issues and the repairs. The vehicle has been in the shop at the dealership since 8/13/2022.
- 09/11/2023· FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
I took delivery of my 2022 Chevy Silverado in March, 2022. I still does not have the park assist and Emergency Stop when backing up installed, which of course is a safety hazzard.
- 09/10/2024· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Tail gate is opening on its own. We checked the recall list and although our year, make and model is listed, the vin# doesn't show a recall. Clearly, there are more vehicles affected than GMC has included. This is a very serious safety issue and we thought you should be aware that perhaps the recall on the tailgates involve more vehicles than they've included.

Electronic trailer brake controller when using disconnects and reconnects turning trailer brakes on and off creating an unsafe situation by never knowing if trailer brakes are going work. Dealer states no problem found with controller and changed trailer plug. Not correcting issue. Tried 2 other trailers same issue occurred. Leading to believe controller is issue. Web search indicates there are many others with similar issue. Dealer states there are no recalls indicating this issue. This has been issue for a few weeks while traveling with a travel trailer.

The tailgate opens on it's own. This is unsafe because the tailgate can open without me knowing it and cause a safety hazard by hitting someone OR by items falling out of the bed of the truck while driving. That can cause injury or damage to people and/or property.

While driving on the freeway in a construction zone, I smelled a burning oil smell. I considered the possibility it was in relation to road repairs being done (roads being repaved, ie tar resurfacing). I was cut off by another vehicle and depressed my brakes and I saw a poof of smoke over the front passenger area near tire. I noticed all of my gauges were in the normal ranges (temperature, battery voltage, etc.) In less than a minute my truck went into limp mode and advised it had a DEF system issue and it would be limited to a set MPH and a set number of miles. Check engine light came on and another driver alerted me that the underneath of my vehicle was on fire. I pulled over to the side of the highway and my truck became engulfed in flames in. Truck is under factory warranty, unmodified, never been in an accident and has had all recommended services performed at local dealership. There was a significant amount of traffic and luckily I did not collide with anyone or set neighboring dry grass field on fire. Fire department responded and extinguished the fire, but it is a total loss. Insurance company has been notified, and vehicle will be available for inspection by appropriate agencies. While local law enforcement did respond, they did not take a report because I didn't hit anything, and the only property damage was my own. (There is documentation of the event, but just dispatch notes.) Prior to the situation above the truck had been at operating temperature for at least 20 minutes and I had traveled for about 20 miles on the highway. The total distance traveled from when I smelled the burning smell was maybe 1.5 miles.
- 08/02/2024· EXTERIOR LIGHTING
At night, when ever I backup with this vehicle, the backup camera in the Infotainment display is so bright, it is impossible to use the mirrors or view anything out of the windows. I did several searches on the internet, discovered that this was a problem and that this had occurred in GM vehicles years 2014-2019. A service bulletin 17-NA-269 described and applied a software upgrade to fix issue in those vehicles. I called 2 local dealers and they both said they had never heard of problem. I then visited one of those dealers in person, they then admitted that they had heard of problem, but did not have any resolution. I called GM in Detroit, and they attempted to assistme over the phone, but all of the things they suggested , I had already tried. Dimming dash lights and turning off infotainment display, neither suggestion helped. They said they did not have any other suggestions. I can throw a towel over the infotainment system display and that allows me to be able to use mirrors and see out of the windows. The danger is that I could back into something or someone and cause damage to local infrastructure or hurt or kill an individual that I could not see while backing up with vehicle.

Tailgate going up and down on its own when in park. Now it will not open at all. There is a recall #N232426400 but dealership says it is not listed for my truck.
- 07/28/2023· UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The way this truck is designed is there is a 2 inch x 2 inch square metal framing piece that runs along the entire length of the truck. The opening to the pipe is NOT blocked off. The opening points up at the gap that exists between the tailgate and the bed of the truck when the tailgate is open. I had my keys on the tailgate and they slipped and fell - anywhere else they would have fell straight to the ground, but they happened to fall into this framing piece that does not have a cap or anything at all. AAA says this is the third one they've seen in my area this month. My safety concerns are twofold: 1. The keys are moving the entire length of that framing piece that extends the entire length of the truck. I am concerned that if they are close to the cab/front of the truck, my vehicle could be unlocked and potentially stolen until the keys are able to be retrieved. 2. If my keys (which are bulky) can fall in there, there is a significant concern that other debris like leaves, sticks, or anything in the bed off the truck can fall into that same space, as well as moisture/water. I am concerned that this will increase the likelyhood of rust occuring in the framing of the vehicle. I have reported my concerns to GM/Chevrolet and they are stating it is not their concern. They aren't even reviewing the videos that I took of the issue. The dealer has confirmed the location of the keys is in the framework of the truck. They are not addressing my concerns that this could cause early rust in the vehicle.
- 07/25/2024· LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with a multi-flex tailgate. The contact stated that the top tailgate switch failed to unlock the tailgate and did not function as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The contact stated that the recall repair only repaired the bottom tailgate switch assembly. The contact was informed that the top tailgate switch assembly was not covered under the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 50,000.

- 07/08/2022· STEERING
Steering wheel kept slowly moving to right about 20 degrees to right to drive straight. This caused the truck to disable electronic stability control due to excessive steering angle. Brought to dealer for service they stated nothing was loose on the vehicle and that they could not align it until they received some adapters for their alignment machine. I took the vehicle home and found that the left tie rod jam nut had not been tightened during manufacture which allowed the alignment to come out of adjustment. These need to be checked on this model truck and trucks need alignment checks.

Vehicle was brought to Lone Star Chevrolet in Houston on 6/16/2025 because Tailgate would not open with the button and only would open with the fob. They stated no parts to fix and did not advise of the severity of risk from the recall when picked truck up. Saturday afternoon [XXX] while leaving a parking lot and driving on the feeder road the tailgate opened resulting in the large ice chest that was full of water bottles ice and and storage containers with food to fall on road along with battery power fan and several extra batteries. These items unexpectedly sliding down the feeder resulted in several cars making defensive maneuvers nearly resulting in several crashes and the ice chest bumping 1 vehicle. All lanes of traffic stopped and several people helped to pick up the debris off the road. No information from people who stopped was collected, and no report from driver of truck that hit cooler. - 06/22/2026· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. While driving at an undisclosed speed with a camper trailer attached, the integrated trailer brake controller failed to operate correctly, causing the camper to experience severe braking failures and the vehicle failed to slow down properly. The contact stated that the integrated trailer brake controller was unable to process the electrical current between the camper battery and the vehicle battery because of the different wattages on the camper. The failure with the electrical current limited the control to slow the trailer, creating an increased stopping distance while driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for a repair under a GM Customer Satisfaction Program: N232414840; however, the dealer stated the program had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 21,463.

While towing our camper, the trailer brakes constantly turn off and on. The camper dealer already checked over the camper wiring, and hooked it to Ford and Ram tow vehicles and could not replicate the problem. The problem is obviously with my Silverado. For the additional details below; - The approximate date is Anytime and Everytime we tow the camper. - There could be a crash anytime the trailer brakes turn off. - A crash due to no trailer brakes Could cause a fire. - An injury or fatality would be highly likely if the trailer brakes "disconnect" at the wrong time causing a crash, with or without fire. - There would most certainly be a police report if any of the above happened.

Rear tailgate opening and closing repeatedly on its own. Background: Arrived home from work yesterday evening, Jun 4, 2026. Parked my truck in the driveway. It was a hot sunny day. Turned the vehicle off, exited the vehicle, and locked the doors. Upon walking around behind my vehicle, the tailgate was opening and closing repeatedly. I attempted to manually close it to see if it would stop, I pushed the lock button on my key fob, and I pressed the tailgate button on the dash which would normally cause it to either open or close depending on its current position. None of those steps resolved the issue. I quickly googled the problem, identified the correct fuse in the dash, and pulled the endgate fuse to stop the tailgate from opening and closing on its own. With the fuse pulled, the tailgate does not function. I called my dealer who informed me it is a known issue with some Silverado trucks and that some had been recalled however he noted my 2022 was not included in the recall for this issue. I have an appointment on Jun. 19, 2026 to have it repaired.

Vehicle purchased new in November of 2021 and driven approximately 6,000 miles. Under windy conditions, particularly at highway speeds, the truck is nearly impossible to drive straight down the road and keep under control. It feels as if you're driving on ice and takes a lot of effort to get back under control. In addition, wind blasts from semi-trucks blow the truck all over the road. Other wind blasts such as those experienced when passing under an overpass or a clearing of woods or hilly terrain that allows for gusts of cross winds result in an equally frightening experience. This truck is a heavy duty 3/4-ton advertised for its towing ability. I have driven 3-4,000 miles (of the 6,000) towing a trailer. The truck steers and handles just as poorly while towing and results in an equally frightening experience I have had the truck at the dealership for over 20 days and although they acknowledge the problem, they have not been able to determine the cause of the problem. The dealership had a GM engineer inspect the truck and his opinion is that this type of handling is "a normal characteristic of the truck". I have attached a copy of the dealership report. I am very fearful that having this vehicle on the road is a serious hazard and will result in a serious accident. with possible injury and/or death. I have owned hundreds of vehicles, driven millions of miles in my life and have never experienced anything like this.
- 05/20/2026· ENGINE
My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD High Country 6.6L Duramax engine has an exhaust leak that causes diesel exhaust to travel into the pickup's cab through the outside air vent and air conditioning system during the exhaust system's regeneration. This occurs when the regeneration occurs in city driving especially at low speeds, stop lights, stop signs, parking lots, etc. The pickup has been to the dealer to find and make necessary repairs twice and is currently at the dealer's shop for the third time. This issue with the 6.6L Duramax pickups appears to be a common theme amongst owners and GM should be providing dealers with the appropriate fix with a recall of the exhaust system. This is a safety hazard as carbon monoxide enters the cab with the diesel exhaust and must be rectified. On my pickup, this started at approximately 55,000 miles. Thank you for your prompt attention to this serious air quality issue inside the pickups' cabs.
- 05/19/2026· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD 6.6 gas with 59K miles has been experiencing the "shift to park" problem associated with this and other Chevrolet/GM vehicles. When putting the car in park, the column shifter moves the transmission from drive to park but when you shut off the vehicle the "Shift to Park" warning comes on and prevents the car from completely shutting down. Apparently, this is due to a defective microswitch inside the steering column that GM is well aware of. There are literally hundreds of thousands of us Chevrolet/GM owners experiencing this same problem and GM needs to acknowledge their problem and fix it as they are charging up to $700 to fix this defective part that they know is causing this issue. This has nothing to do with regular "wear and tear" on the vehicle. GM is well aware of this issue and needs to be held accountable and issue a recall to fix this problem.

So the electrical would be when I shut my truck off in park I cannot turn my key completely back to release the key so therefore I’m killing my battery leaving the power on as far as the tires they’re rated for 50 or 55,000 miles I have 37,000 miles and I have no tread left and as far as my drivetrain when accelerating onto a highway pulling my fifth wheel camper that is 16,000 pounds loaded the truck box really bad as far as the crash warning breaking system it does not break

When vehicle is placed in park the safety lock will not allow the key to turn to the "off" position and be removed. The vehicle will not turn "off" any further than the accessory position. Sometimes after turning the steering wheel back and forth while working the ignition the key will release. If this does not work after a minute or so, sometimes you can start the truck and immediately turn it all the way off and get the key to release. If all of that fails the last option is to disconnect the battery. It is an intermittent issue that will happen 5 times a day for a week, and then will not replicate again for a week or two.

I was driving to an event and I noticed my truck was pulling slightly. As I pulled onto the freeway and accelerated, I felt and heard a thumping sound but could not distinguish it between the pattern in the freeway or an issue with a tire. I continued to accelerate and the tire blew at about 55 mph. I was pulling a 5th wheel in a construction zone and was not immediately able to safely pull off the roadway. Extensive damage was done to the body of the truck with a current estimate at $4,832.18. The rim and tire were also destroyed with the rim being valued at $841.08 and tire at $408.

the emergency brake warning light keeps coming on, service, reduced engine function. I have taken in to the dealership and they cant find the problem, this is on many forums and with little to no answers, just a lot of speculation.

I started to her a light tapping in engine and also noticed smoke color coming from exhaust when I used the remote start and at other time. Truck has been going through a quart of oil or more at roughly 3400 miles before the 5000 miles before the service is actually due. Spoke to dealership several times and they say that is normal. Called GM directly and filed a complaint.Never had a vehicle that needed oil before service was due. That’s not normal. I feel like I’m getting the run around
