  • EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTSCampaign 22V463000 · 30/06/2022

General Motors (GM) has decided that certain 2022 model year Chevrolet Silverado, and GMC Sierra vehicles equipped with an accessory sport bar. The accessory sport bar contains a high-mounted brake light that may not function. In addition, it may block the vehicle's existing high-mounted brake light. As such, these vehicles may fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

Risk: An inoperative high-mounted brake light can reduce visibility to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will inspect the installation of the accessory bar and provide the correct vehicle wiring, if necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters advising owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 10, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 27, 2023. Owners may contact GM's customer service on 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.. GM's recall number for this recall is N222368110.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vehicles. The sensing diagnostic module (SDM) was left in manufacturing mode and not activated at the assembly plant prior to shipment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk: An SDM in manufacturing mode will not deploy the vehicle's air bags in a crash, increasing the risk of occupant injury.

Fix: Dealers returned the vehicles to the GM assembly plant and the sensing diagnostic modules were activated. The vehicles had not been sold from dealer inventory and therefore no owner letters will be mailed. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. • 12/30/2025· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The problem that happened on my truck was the telecommunication module went out at 45k miles. That controls several features on my truck such as compass, navigation, remote start from cell phone, clock and several others. The biggest problem is that a check engine light pops up and you cant use your key fob to remote start your truck since the check engine light is on. I took it to the GM dealer to get fixed and they had to replace the module. According to my service advisor this is a common problem and I am looking for a recall or more information into why it failed.

All the symptoms point to engine fail eventually occurring

  • 12/27/2025· ENGINE

I've owned the 2022 Silverado High Country with 6.2L engine. Over the past 3.5 years, the engine has had oil consumption issues where I was required to take the vehicle to Chevrolet dealership every 500 miles in Hampton, VA to have the oil level checked. I kept getting the message "low Oil Level" on the information center. I also kept hearing loud ticking noise coming from the engine. Chevy service would top off the oil level (sometimes 1/2 or 1+ quart low), and send me on my way. After oil consumption and ticking noise continued, I was notified by Dealer that a Safety Recall April 2025 was issued by GM. I met with GM Representative and Chevy Service Manager April 2025, and based on my truck history with oil consumption and lifter noise, decision was made to replace engine. New Engine was installed May 2025 and all appeared to be good to go. However, in November 2025 I heard the loud clicking noise in the new engine. Hampton, VA Chevy service conducted an inspection and found a bent push rod in new engine. Service replaced the push rod and all lifters based on history of lifter issues.

  • 12/19/2022· SERVICE BRAKES

The integrated trailer braking system will function momentarily and then disable entirely while towing a trailer. This is extremely dangerous as it will not allow the vehicle to come safely to a stop if needed. Emergency braking would be greatly hindered without functioning trailer brakes. GM knows of this problem and "Does not have a fix". See attached dealer description. This is not an isolated incident. See attached link https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/260521-2022-silverado-faulty-trailer-brake-controller-and-buggy-camera-when-trailer-connected/

  • 12/18/2022· ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

While on vacation, Engine light came on , returned home due to excessive DEF usage, poor fuel mileage and heavy deisel smell in cab. Brought vehicle in to Gerry Lane on 11/8/22. *Was told 7-10 days to get parts an not to drive, May Catch On Fire due to an open exhaust. (Concerned because we drove home over 1,200 miles). From Service Advisor.. Our tech found the number exhaust gas temperature sensor missing from the diesel particulate filter and catalytic converter assembly, likely blown out due to excess pressure in the system. We’re going to replace that sensor, the DPF/converter assembly, and the relevant seals, gaskets, and clamps for that repair.

  • 12/18/2022· SERVICE BRAKES

Trailer brake system is not working. Vehicle is reporting trouble code C159C and is subject to service bulletin PIT5948A per the dealership. The latest update states “GM is aware of the issue and is working on a resolution”. The latest update is almost 3 months ago. I have an active case with GM on this. Case sr:9-8884642509. They gave me a $300 credit to my Chevrolet account to purchase chevy parts however I want my truck working. Not being able to use the trailer brake system is very dangerous when towing and the fact that this is a $60,000 truck that I literally bought to tow my camper and can’t even tow with it safely defeats the purpose of my paying for this truck.

  • 12/17/2025· STEERING,POWER TRAIN

  • 12/17/2025· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,SERVICE BRAKESCrash

Was taking an exit car felt like lose control and got hit with the sign pole on the exit. I have been complaining for the safety reasons and the location and other issues in car to onstar and Chevy for months. Went to Freeport Chevy dealer and changed oil, when I bought the car pre-approved but the when I went for the service they said no oil was changed since the car was new. And I have been paying for all the warranty and extended service but they said all oil change and others will cost approx $3200. They changed the oil but I have been seeing on the Chevy app filter was never changed and the car didn’t feel same after the service.

  • 12/16/2025· POWER TRAIN,EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The vehicle was purchased new from the dealer in June of 2022. Since the purchase the vehicle has had multiple issues that are safety concerns. The backup camera cuts out on average 1 out of every 10 times the vehicle is placed in reverse always in low light situations like parking garages, night time driving or overcast/rainy weather. The vehicle has been in to GM on multiple occassions to have issue diagnosed and is still not repaired and TSB states for dealerships not to do more work to fix as this is a computer program issue and not a component issue, nonetheless the camera is still not functioning. The second area of failure is the transmission shift module. This module determines when the vehicle has been shifted out of park into R, N or D. The module has been replaced 2 times in 55,000 miles. When the module goes bad the vehicle gives a warning that the ability to shift will be lost. Finally the last safety issue that has been largely reported is the failure of the Telematics Onstar Module which runs the onboard communications for Onstar, Maps, GPS, and other systems that use the GPS signal. This means that any hands free technology tied to these systems no longer work leading to legal issues in most states that have hands free requirements. GM is charging around $1,000 to replace the Onstar module and it is taking 6 months or longer to even access the part if at all. Vehicle has also had running light/headlight, indicator light go out with no way to change a bulb, This requires an entire LED assembly, this issue is intermittent and may reset after the vehicle has been fully powered down, but creates a safety issue while driving with lights and blinker being in operable.

The drivers side window regulator cable completely rusted through and broke. There should be a recall as there is a ton of videos on YouTube on how to fix this. Every single one of us the bottom cable completely rusted through and broke on the regulator. First picture is old rusted broke one, 2nd is the new gm part, You can see it was sitting in water, my truck is less than 3 years old. Oh it’s always the driver side

  • 12/16/2025· POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES

Valve body failed in Dec. 2024 and they replaced it. Valve body failed again in April 2025, they replaced it with new. Valve body failed again in Oct 2025, they said they will not replace it. The brakes locked up for a few seconds making a loud noise, it would not go in reverse which i showed the mechanic all three times, and it would not go over 35mph. they told me the new transmission they put in it in April of 2025, was not warrantied. This has been an on going issue since the original recall, and they refuse to fix it correctly. You will see from the documents, it has been in the shop 6 times in 10 months. now it sits in my yard because I don't want to get in a accident if it goes out while I'm driving. I can not go south for the winter like we usually do because of the truck. Chevy doesn't seem to want to fix the on going issue which was a recall.

  • 12/16/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

One week prior to the incident my engine had a loud ticking/knocking noise when starting up especially on a cold start, one night before thanksgiving driving to California I had my truck on cruise control 80mph when suddenly without any warning the engine shut off! My touch screen and speed gauge were still on I tried pulling over as quickly as I can with my emergency flashers on, I was almost side struck by trailers passing by me doing so! My truck got towed to the nearest Chevy dealer where I was told it was an electrical issue at first, then 3 hours after that call the service team called again telling me they have found metal engine shavings and pieces in my engine while draining my engine oil. Service team told me they contacted GM for a new engine replacement and my truck will be in their shop for a month waiting for delivery and working on my truck. All this damage because of the AFM DFM feature in V8 engines and it happening at 7,000 miles it’s unacceptable.

  • 12/15/2022· SERVICE BRAKES

Purchased 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 new on 10/4/2022. First used to tow on 10/7/2022 with less than 500 miles from new on vehicle. I hooked up our brand new camper (1 month old 2022 Grand Design Imagine) to the truck and the integrated trailer brake controller for the first time and a message appeared on DIC stating "Trailer Brakes Disabled Service Required" and the trailer brakes disengaged. Restarted vehicle and the message west away, only to come back on the first time I applied the brakes. Dealership service department has been helpful in as much as they have evaluated both my truck and the camper. Found the truck integrated brake controller was not communicating properly and had a DTC of C159C. Dealership tested camper trailer brakes and found them to be working properly (as expected). Dealership service department states GM knows about this issue and has no known correction to the issue. They are keeping an open service ticket on this issue. In the interim the dealership service department has installed an aftermarket trailer brake controller so I do have trailer brakes until GM solves the issue.

  • 12/14/2023· VISIBILITY/WIPER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Forward Collision System Unavailable and Front Camera Blocked Clean Windshield. This alert populates when the temperature is below 40 degrees. I have taken it to the dealership they ran there diagnostic and said it only needed an update. Problem is still happening I believe this is a manufacture problem. My windshield is not obstructed by anything. This is the only vehicle we have, and I feel my kids and I are at risk when I get these alerts on my dashboard. Problem first appeared back in October when temperatures started dropping in my city.

  • 12/12/2022· SERVICE BRAKES

When driving with a trailer connected to the truck, the DIC displays Trailer Brake Disabled Service required. Power to trailer brakes immediately ceases and the truck brakes are left to stop the truck and trailer. This is extremely dangerous for heavy loads at high speeds. Almost caused an accident due to this issue. Unable to use truck to tow out of fear for safety. Trailer was tested and inspected. Trailer was also used by another truck with no issue. Connected the truck to a different trailer with brakes and the problem replicated with the other trailer.

  • 12/09/2025· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I have a 2022 Chevy Silverado and my wifi, onstar, gps mapping is not working.  I got the run around from the dealership and they told me to call onstar because my onstar and wifi it's not working.  Turns out the Telematic Control Module is defective and not working.  They want me to pay $450 for the part and $155 labor to fix this issue.  I have 54245 miles on my truck so it's not covered under the bumper to bumper yet this is a known issue with this part and Chevy or Onstar should cover the replacement.  I see all the complaints online and nothing being done.  How are people supposed to have confidence in the Onstar program when they go to use it and it's broken? There's no indicator until it's just not working. The Telematic Control Module (TCM) in a Chevy Silverado is the brain for connected services like OnStar, GPS, and remote diagnostics, collecting vehicle data (location, performance) via the OBD-II port and sending it to cloud

  • 12/09/2025· UNKNOWN OR OTHER

My check engine light came on and the diagnostic code was p1098. I noticed there was a special warranty for my make and model and engine but for some reason mine does not have this special warranty. I have researched and found out this is a common problem with these trucks. I think there should be a recall for this as it poses safety problems and concerns when it enters limp mode

  • 12/08/2022· SERVICE BRAKES

The integrated trailer brake system will quit working mid tow. The warning something along the line of "service trailer brake, trailer brakes disabled" comes on and at that point I no longer have use of the trailer brakes while towing. This is very unsafe as I am regularly towing 4000-6000lbs. GM does not have a solution to the problem at this time and has been no help resolving the issue. I have been told "hopefully there will be a solution soon."

  • 12/05/2025· FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH and attempting to make a left turn while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle unexpectedly lost motive power. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The contact attempted to activate the hazard lights however, the hazard lights were inoperable. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while his wife was driving the vehicle. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated during the failure. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,000.

  • 12/05/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES

My 2022 Silverado is affected by a couple different electronic safety issues. The first one has to do with the trailering system. When I have trailer connected that has electronic brakes on it, the vehicle gives an error message and then shuts the break control off. When this happens the trailer does not assist the truck in breaking when the pedal is pressed. The truck has to do all the work to stop not only itself, but the weight of the trailer as well. I found this out while towing my camper that weighs approximately 7500lbs. This is very dangerous and unsafe. The GM dealership has verified this issue and gave me a bulletin that came from GM that states that they are aware of the issue and they do not no what is causing it or how to fix it. I also have issues with my smaller trailers that have no brakes. When connected, the vehicle will give me random error messages about the trailer lighting. When this happens the trailer lights flash without me pressing the brakes or using turnsignals. This also is a huge safety issue. People following me may not know if I am turning or stopping, which could lead to an accident. The dealership also confirmed this issue and they believe it may be tied to the other issue outlined in GMs bulletin. The bulletin doesn't say anything about trailer lights, so the dealership has no clue on what is causing it or how to fix it. The last issue is with the back up camera. It goes out periodically while backing up. This can lead to me hitting someone or something that I may not see in my mirrors. My vehicle is a truck and is pretty large. The backup camera is there to help in backing safety. The dealership did confirm this issue with a code in the computer, but they couldn't get it to replicate while it was in the shop so they are unable to get solution to fix it. I have to wait until it completely goes bad or GM releases a bulletin. I know I'm not the only one with this issue. It is documented on a few forums. I have a case with GM.

Started vehicle and all of the brake system warning lights were on. Vehicle stated that I could drive 43 mph with limited braking ability and limited steering. Basically the power assisted brakes and steering would not work. The vehicle was parked at my place of employment. Called the dealer to ask for suggestions. Ask discussing it we decided to take it to the dealership. That was a good idea as there was not enough braking power to stop the pick up in an emergency situation. It took all I could to get it to stop. Pedal to the floor and hold it tight. The Service Manager decided it should stay as driving it was terribly dangerous. I was told it needed a new ECS. The vehicle shouldn't be driven in this state. What if this was to happen on the highway while pulling a trailer. This would put the driver, passengers and others at severe risk. Something needs to happen. Once it's fixed do I even trust it anymore?? GM KNOWS ABOUT IT

Was driving and the power steering quit working and had to manually turn truck into destination I was going to. It gave me a message the the electronic system needed to be serviced. Took to dealership and they claimed there was nothing wrong with electronic steering system. The blamed it on an on off switch mounted on my dash for my fog lights.

The Telematics module on my car stopped working. It caused all of my warning tones to go out and are not audible. Furthermore the OnStar system is not working. I have read a lot of post and it seems like the module is a high fail item and if it fails after the manufactures warranty then we are left with a pretty hefty bill just to get one of the safety features to work. GM needs to fix this at their expense given the amount of modules that have failed in the past few years on newer vehicles.

GM is rolling trucks off the production line with a known trailer brake controller fault. This issue causes the truck to lock out the trailer braking function immediately after applying braking with a trailer attached. This causes stopping distance to be dramatically increased resulting in greater risk of an accident. GM needs to correct this issue before loss of life occurs. This seems to be wide spread. https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=166822&key=85381e43bf444ec4cbd8ddc48e53190b
