  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BODY CONTROL MODULE/BCMCampaign 23V727000 · 27/10/2023

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Mustang vehicles. The brake fluid level sensor may not activate the visual warning indicator when the brake fluid is low. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk: Without a low brake fluid warning light, the vehicle may be driven with low brake fluid, reducing braking performance and increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will update the body control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 21, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23C35.

  • BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARECampaign 25V442000 · 27/06/2025

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, MKX, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

Risk: A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 4, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Mustang vehicles equipped with 5.0L engines and manual transmissions. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) may broadcast an unintended faulted signal to the modules controlling the reverse camera, reverse light, and driver assist features, which may disable all of these functions.

Risk: A rearview camera or reverse light that is disabled reduces the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash. Disabled driver assist features (traction control, forward collision warning, blind spot warning, cross traffic indicator) may increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will update the PCM software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 15, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S37.

Risk: If the driver is unaware that the Pre-Collision Assist feature is not operating effectively, they may rely on a system that is not functional, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will perform the Lane Departure Warning System camera alignment procedure, free of charge. This recall began June 17, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S26.

The reverse camera is currently on recall. My vehicle has been experiencing intermittent camera issues as the recall describes. Ford's recall resolution states that the issue has to be replicated while with a technician to be fixed. While my vehicle was with the dealership for it's recall inspection the issue was not able to be duplicated regardless of the multiple occurrences over several months. We feel this does not adequately take care of the recalled problem and continues to present a safety concern until it is corrected. The earliest occurrence of this issue was documented on August 29, 2025 and has continued to occur since that date.

So far, we have been lucky and managed to keep the vehicle from leaving the roadbed or crashing into another vehicle. However, every time this happens, we get the scare of our lifetime.

On July 26, 2021, I had a head on collision ( driver side to driver side ) where I felt like the vehicle didn’t want to stop. Even when I applied the brake, the vehicle kept going forward. In that collision, even though I was wearing my seatbelt, my head went straight up and I hit the top of my car. My head felt crunched into my neck and shoulders, and the belt restrained me enough to pull my right shoulder back and down from having my head crunching further into the top of my car. Although I wasn’t given a ticket for the accident, the Police found me to be at fault. Later, I went to an Urgent Care where they diagnosed me with having a concussion. I haven’t seen any other necessary doctors, because I don’t have the money out of pocket. I don’t know that my remaining PIP will cover anymore. I am still having issues with my head, neck, back, and hip now. I recently saw a Dentist and I may have TMJ. I never have experienced such pain of my entire left side of my face. My migraines have increased in frequency and intensity, and other health issues are agitated and inflamed.

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention some serious safety issues that I have encountered with a 2020 Mustang that I purchased from CarMAX, West Valley on September 24, 2023. Soon after taking possession of the vehicle, I noticed a malfunction with the airbag system. It is disheartening to report that I had to endure a three-day wait to have the necessary repairs carried out. The delay in rectifying this crucial safety feature is highly concerning, as it exposes both the driver and passengers to unnecessary risks. Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. Shortly after the airbag issue was addressed, the engine light illuminated on the dashboard. Despite my efforts to troubleshoot the problem myself, the light remained illuminated, indicating a persisting issue with the engine. Not only did this cause me considerable inconvenience, but it also raised concerns about the overall reliability and safety of the vehicle. The most alarming incident occurred on October 2, 2023, when my car unexpectedly broke down while I was driving on the freeway. This unexpected failure not only posed a significant risk to my safety but also left me traumatically shaken by the experience. I cannot emphasize enough the fear and anxiety I felt as I navigated the dangerous situation caused by the vehicle's sudden malfunction. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of quality control and the subsequent safety hazards that have plagued my 2020 Mustang. As a consumer, I have a reasonable expectation that the vehicle I purchase will be safe and reliable. It is distressing to find myself in a situation where my safety and wellbeing are compromised due to these issues. I have taken my concerns up with CARMAX and I am waiting for a response. It is my hope that they will investigate the matter and take measures to address it. I will not stop fighting for the safety of my family and myself.

DEALER DOING WARRANTY WORK HAS RUN THROUGH ALL FORD RECOMMENDED TESTS AND REINSTALLATION OF AS BUILD DATA - NOTHING WORKS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW; I NOW HAVE 19,000 MILES ON IT. FORD DOES NOT HAVE A TSB FOR THE 2020 GT MUSTANG WITH THIS PROBLEM. I CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.

  • 09/17/2025· POWER TRAIN

Description of the issue: The transmission has a recurring problem with shifting. When placing the vehicle into Reverse, it engages with a harsh and sudden jerk. When shifting from Reverse to Drive, there is a noticeable delay in engagement before the vehicle responds. These problems occur under normal operating conditions and are repeatable. Safety risk: This creates a significant safety hazard. The harsh jerking when shifting into Reverse can cause unintended movement, risking collisions or injury. The delayed engagement when shifting into Drive leaves the driver vulnerable in traffic situations (such as backing out of parking spaces or entering traffic), increasing the chance of an accident. Inspection/confirmation: The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealership. However, it has not been permanently resolved. Ford has issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) addressing this known transmission problem through a software update. Manufacturer/dealer involvement: When the vehicle was already connected to Ford’s diagnostic system for a Body Control Module recall, the dealer refused to apply the available TSB update for the transmission without charging an additional $280 “diagnostic” fee. This was despite the fact that Ford has officially acknowledged the issue and issued a TSB to address it. No permanent fix has been provided. Availability for inspection: The vehicle and transmission are available for inspection upon request.

THE ACTUAL GETRAG DEFECTIVE AND FAULTY MANUAL TRANSMISSION ON FORD MUSTANG 2020 STILL CAUSING SERIOUS PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUES NOWADAYS. IN MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES, DOWNSHIFTING GEARS ON A RELIABLE, EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT TRANSMISSION 'PART', IT'S A SERIOUS AND DETERMINING FACTOR AT THE MOMENT THE DRIVER NEEDS TO SLOW DOWN SAFELY OR EVEN STOP THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY ON LONGER DOWNHILL ROADS SO BRAKE OVERHEATING AND POSSIBLE FAILURE OF THEM CAN BE AVOIDED OR IN THE EVENTUAL CASE OF TOWING A LOAD... After driving for 2 blocks, my car would not drive when hitting the gas pedal, the engine only reved. Unable to move the car in any gear, pedestrians helped push my car out of the middle of the road. Towed the car to a Ford dealership because the Ford app on my phone said "shift solenoid stuck in off position". Upon diagnosis the dealership said yes the solenoid is stuck in the off position but now the gears are slipping and you need a brand new transmission. This is the 10r80 automatic transmission that has had problems like this nationwide. I don't understand how this has not been recalled yet. With 63,000 miles a transmission should not be failing. There have been hundreds of documented cases of this specific transmission failing for countless reasons involving internal components.

    1. 2020 Mustang Ecoboost is equipped from factory with redesigned block to minimize/eliminate coolant intrusion and or head gasket failure. I still had the dreaded "ecoboom" issue with coolant intrusion on two cylinders as a result of a broken head gasket and poor engine block design. Regular maintenance was perfomed and use primarily Top Tier 93 octane fuel. 5K mile interval 5W-50 oil changes according to manual using Ford spec oil full synthetic. Cold Start Misfires and excessive engine shaking are still occurring despite short block replacement by Ford and they won't diagnose properly. 2. Electrical/Audio. Issue with crackling audio, audio skipping and both iPhones and Androids having disconnection issues. Factory reset the Sync module twice, attempted reset by unplugging car battery and also checked alternator. Replaced car battery with fresh battery and issue persists. 3. Powertrain: The 10R80 Auto Transmission is extremely jarring and does not shift smoothly. Hesitates throughout gears, sluggish gears changes. Gives whiplash effect even after a filter and oil change for the transmission with OEM fluid and filter. Premature Transmission gasket housing failure as well causing ATF to leak onto ground.

Two issues actually 1. Back up camera gives the blue screen. Says unavailable and contact dealer. I have not yet as this just started. I am seeing a bunch of complaints on this though. 2. When I roll all the windows down then roll them up, the back triangle windows don't go up all the way. I have to get out of the car and pull them up all the way. Dealer said I just need to lube the edge and the groove they sit in. Which was tried. Didn't work. Could be a safety issue if I have to pull over and get out of the car to pull the windows up.

Transmission issue. Transmission is leaking fluid. Vehicle is currently at my home waiting to go to dealership during normal business hours. Car started smoking and running hot while getting off the interstate. I was in a travel lane when this happened. Huge safety risk. Fire department was called to ensure there was not a fire that started. Car was towed to my home until it can be towed to a dealer during working hours. General vehicle inspection done by fire department to ensure there was not a fire. They advised the car not be driven until it has been inspected by Ford. No warnings or indications there was a problem other than the smoke billowing from the engine.

WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH HEAVY PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO BRAKE PEDAL CAUSING THE BRACKET HOLDING THE BRAKE PEDAL LEVER TO SNAP. THE BRAKE PEDAL THEN SUNK TO THE FLOOR CAUSING THE BRAKES TO NO LONGER BE FUNCTIONAL. THE ENTIRE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY WAS THEN DANGLING FROM THE ONE OF IT'S CONNECTION POINTS. A PIECE OF THE PEDAL BRACKET HAD SNAPPED FROM THE PIVOT POINT AND WAS THEN LOOSE ON THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE. EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD TO BE APPLIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT CAUSED. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATAL ACCIDENT.

2020 Ford Mustang with the 2.3L EcoBoost engine. The vehicle has a documented history of coolant loss with no visible external leak, consistent with the known coolant-intrusion defect in Ford's 2.3L EcoBoost engines where coolant leaks internally into the cylinders. The vehicle previously threw a cylinder misfire code (P0301) and now shows a crankshaft/camshaft timing correlation fault (P0017). A scan tool confirmed the exhaust camshaft is approximately 18–19 degrees out of correlation. A new variable valve timing oil control solenoid was installed and did NOT resolve the fault, confirming the problem is mechanical — a worn/stretched timing chain. This wear is consistent with the oil dilution and contamination caused by internal coolant intrusion. The problem has been confirmed by an independent service center via scan data. The vehicle is available for inspection. Warning symptoms included the check engine light, a loud rattle on cold startup, and occasional hard/no-start conditions. This is a safety concern because internal coolant loss can cause overheating, cylinder head cracking, and potential engine failure or fire while driving. Repair cost quoted at approximately $2,000. Mileage approximately 54,400.

A 2020 Ford Mustang eco boost premium 2.3L L4 DOHC 16 valve 6-speed manual with push button start convertible top burst into flames on [XXX] at about [XXX]. The entire car and the black box were consumed by flames that spread to my carport, shed and mobile home. From what I read; it might have been designed for a road racing car. I am [XXX] , and requested a small car from Enterprise and this is the only car they had for me. Zero to 60 mph: 4.9–5.7 sec Zero to 100 mph: 13.5–15.5 sec Standing ¼-mile: 13.4–14.3 sec Top speed: 145–155 mph. Why would they have put [XXX] in this car? I drove it as cautiously as I drive my 2011 Taurus. I did nothing to cause this fire. I have reached out to FMC and Enterprise and have finally come to terms that I have to ask for charity to get the home livable. We run a gas generator for one air conditioner, small frig and well pump for water. The roof leaks, the firefighters puled every outlet in the rooms near where the fire entered my home. The electric meter was pulled off my pole as is standard procedure in my county. Now I am begging for a new roof and a new 200 amp box and all new wiring so the county will allow the electric to be connected again. FMC did not design this car well. It caused a disaster for me and my family. I cannot afford a new home, I just want to get this one livable. Entreprises had RIMKUS do a complete investigation which revealed nothing. Intermittent loss of throttle with wrench light. Engine goes into derate, have to shut off car, let sit for 3-5 minutes, restart then ok until it occurs again. Loss of throttle at any time is unsafe. Two Ford dealers have tried to repair with no luck. They have replaced the throttle pedal assembly, the throttle body, and now the PCM. Problem is still present. Have an ongoing Ford customer service case #CAS44568044-D6G8F8. Still awaiting resolution. Vehicle is still under 3/36 Base warranty. Problem has been ongoing for a little over a year now.

I suspect an electrical problem/short is causing my passenger side window to open and close about half an inch uncontrollably. This has been a minor inconvenience but last time it happened, it triggered the passenger door to open when driving. I had to pull over to manually secure the door. Very troubling safety issue.

Caught in stop and go traffic at night for 45 minutes. Car started moving forward even though my foot was only on the brake pedal. My first thought was I'd accidentally pressed both the brake and gas pedals, but I could see my foot on the brake pedal since the under-dash area is lit in the Premium model. It happened for about one minute the first time, then happened again a couple minutes later. I hit the bumper of a tour bus during the second instance at about two mph. The tour bus driver apparently didn't notice the hit and changed lanes a few minutes later. I didn't see any damage to the tour bus, but my license plate bracket and license plate were bent, and the middle part of my bumper didn't snap back together correctly. The Ford dealer was unable to duplicate the problem, and the brakes and vacuum pressure module didn't show any leaks. The service advisor said it was impossible for the transmission to engage without pressing the gas pedal, but I suspect the 10-speed transmission since the engine rpm didn't appear to change. There were no warning lights before or after the incident and the service advisor said no codes had been set. In retrospect I should have tried putting the transmission in neutral, used the emergency brake,or turned off the ignition (but a tractor trailer was about ten feet behind me).

No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that upon inspecting under the hood of the vehicle, he noticed that the clutch fluid line had shifted back and forth causing the failure. Additionally, the contact stated that he smelled a burning fuel odor inside the engine. The contact stated that he was able to restart the vehicle and drove the vehicle in 1st gear. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,923.

  • 08/03/2026· POWER TRAIN

The 10-speed automatic transmission on my 2020 Mustang failed internally at approximately 18,073 miles. The vehicle began shifting harshly at low speeds with an intermittent clunk. While driving, the transmission would slip slightly and then either surge forward or hesitate with a dull thud before engaging. The behavior was unpredictable and worsened over time. No warning lamp ever appeared and no diagnostic trouble codes were stored, so the driver gets no advance notice of this condition. This is a safety hazard when pulling into traffic, turning across an intersection, or merging. When power arrives late, abruptly, or not at all, the driver cannot judge a gap in traffic reliably. An authorized Ford dealer verified the concern on a test drive, confirmed the vehicle failed the CDF clutch cylinder leak test, and documented an internal tapping noise in Drive and Reverse. Fluid level was in spec. The dealer performed Ford TSB 25-2475, which addresses harsh and delayed shifting on this transmission: the unit was removed, torn down on the bench, the CDF cylinder replaced, and the unit reassembled and reinstalled. It did not correct the concern. The dealer's written notes state the concern was still present, the TSB did not cure it, and the transmission has an internal failure requiring replacement. Independent transmission specialists I consulted all recommended full replacement rather than rebuild, citing known problems with this transmission in this model year. Ford has revised multiple technical service bulletins on harsh and delayed shifting for this transmission over several years. My vehicle failed at roughly 18,000 miles, far under the 60,000-mile powertrain warranty limit, but Ford declined assistance because the five-year time limit had passed.

On [XXX], I was involved in a front-left collision while driving my 2020 Ford Mustang GT (VIN: [XXX] ) with my [XXX] daughter in the front passenger seat. She weighs approximately [XXX] and was properly seated with her seatbelt fastened. The only airbag that deployed was the driver’s knee airbag. The front passenger airbag did not deploy at all. After the accident, the FordPass system reported multiple “Restraints Indicator Lamp Warning” alerts, all timestamped the day of the crash, stating: “Your Air Bag Warning is on due to an issue with the front passenger air bag system. The front passenger airbag may not work properly.” This alert was not visible on the dashboard prior to the crash and was only discovered after checking the app. This failure of the airbag system placed my daughter at serious risk. A properly seated child passenger of sufficient weight should have been protected. The vehicle had approximately 19,177 miles at the time of the accident and had no prior airbag-related service or known damage. The crash occurred at normal road speed during a left turn when another vehicle impacted my front driver-side area. My vehicle is currently with the insurance company and available for full diagnostic inspection by NHTSA or the manufacturer. The passenger-side OCS and SRS systems should be investigated for sensor failure, deployment failure, or manufacturer defect.
