- BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARECampaign 25V442000 · 27/06/2025
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, MKX, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.
Risk: A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 4, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:TRACTION BATTERY:MANAGEMENT SYSTEM/ENERGY CONTROL MODULE (BMS/BECM)Campaign 23V440000 · 23/06/2023
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Fusion PHEV vehicles. The battery energy control module (BECM) may become damaged due to excessive voltage and current flow.
Risk: A damaged BECM can result in a loss of drive power or fire, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Fix: Owners are advised not to charge their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Dealers will replace the battery and update the BECM software for free, or Ford will repurchase the vehicle. If your vehicle is currently operating normally, Ford has authorized dealers to replace the fuse block and a software update as an interim repair before the availability of remedy parts for the final repair. This repair will be free of charge (parts and labor). As an alternative remedy, Ford is offering a vehicle refund. Please see Ford's owner notification letter or contact Ford for full details. Owner notification letters were mailed May 15, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S33.
- EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:ENGINE BLOCK HEATERCampaign 25V685000 · 10/10/2025
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Lincoln MKC, 2016-2023 Explorer, 2019-2020 Fusion, 2019-2024 Ranger, 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair, Escape, 2021-2024 Bronco, Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
Risk: An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Fix: Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded blanking plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed December 3, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated September 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25SA4. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 15, 2025.

Although there is an existing recall in place by Ford Motor Co, a solution is not expected for another year. In the mean time, I am worried about a vehicle fire or vehicle going dead everyday. In addition, by not using the battery charger, my mileage has dropped from 54 mpg to 32 mpg. This past summer, I had three instances where my check engine light went on and the car would not start.

Purchased the hybrid fusion to save on gas . Received a recall with no time as to when they will have a fix. The car is now only able to be used as a gas car because we Were advised you cannot charge the vehicle as it may go on fire. I now have to fill up every week as opposed to every 4-6 weeks. Gas is very high now and the car is not what I wanted without the hybrid mode . Car is lackluster in gas mode and my gas bill is not 5-6 times what I was paying and want to pay .

I am filing a complaint regarding Ford Safety Recall 23S33 (NHTSA Campaign 23V440) for my 2020 Ford Fusion Energi. I brought my freshly purchased vehicle to my local authorized dealer, Sheehy Ford, to fix the high-voltage battery replacement recall. The dealership told me they had to order the part before they could schedule the repair. They have since stated that Ford corporate is experiencing low stock and is not allocating the necessary remedy parts to the dealer network, and referred me to call Ford corporate. Purchased this vehicle on 21 March 2026; took it to dealer to get the recall fixed on 23 March. Dealer said it would be delayed due to the recall being started in [XXX] (where the vehicle was shipped from via carmax, and sold to me in [XXX]). After a month, the dealer opened a case with Ford corporate (XXX). I called to check status, was put on hold for 20 minutes, then transferred, and was then disconnected. It has been 4 months since I took it in to get the recall repaired. The manufacturer is failing to provide a timely safety remedy as required by federal law, leaving me to drive a vehicle with a documented risk of fire and sudden loss of motive power. In my 2020 plug-in Fusion, Stop Safely Now appeared on the screen as I drove on the freeway. While driving 70 mph, I suddenly had difficulty accelerating, and my air conditioner stopped working and began blowing hot air. By using hazard lights, I was able to slowly exit the freeway. The system disabled the engine and prevented the vehicle from starting. After being stranded on the off ramp, we were towed home. The cost of which exceeded $100. Without displaying any warning messages when we arrived home, the car started right up. After letting it sit for a few days, I tried to drive it again. In my attempt to accelerate, I reached 50 mph, but again the same warning appeared and I was unable to accelerate. It is ridiculous to not be able to trust a car that is less than five years old to drive safely and confidently. I paid too much for this luxury brand from Ford to cause this kind of issue. It clearly is related to the active recall that Ford doesn’t have a solution for.

The center console display unit acts as though "ghost fingers" (internet term) are continuously exercising the display, since at least December 2023. If on climate, it will turn the climate controls on and off, and if on phone, it will attempt to delete phone contacts. The only screen that is safe to leave the display at, is navigation, so that it continually flickers and moves the map around the state, country and world. I cannot turn off the steering heater, or change climate direction to vent or floor without accessing the climate screen while driving. I have had to unpair my phone, and so 911-assist is no longer available. Periodically while driving, the screen will switch over to climate controls, and then I have to switch it back, pressing navigation multiple times until it responds, while driving. These actions make driving the vehicle UNSAFE. The dealer acknowledged an internal bulletin in January, that said a software update was needed to address this known issue, but none was available. They have been unwilling to provide any of that in writing. Please contact me for a 165Mb video of the the screen, which includes my attempts to access screen functions.

I am aware of the recall on the ford fusion plug in hybrid and for that reason I do not plug it in. We are supposed to use this as a regular hybrid until the fix comes out. That said, my car turns off randomly in traffic. All the warning lights turn on and the car fully shuts down and has to restart. This happens without warning, while in traffic. Last week it happened 3 times on one single drive home from picking up the kids from school. This is not supposed to happen if we aren’t plugging it in, but it’s happening and ford said they think it’s related to the recall (they’re holding on to it for the next five days and I’m on my own for car rental fees). Totally unsafe to just stop working in traffic, even when not using EV mode. This is going to hurt someone.

Five months after buying our 2020 Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid, Ford issued a recall stating that it was unsafe to plug it in. Now, going on 10 months later, Ford still has not corrected this safety issue. They continually say they're working on it, but I paid for a car that I didn't get. This car is not a plug-in hybrid if life-threatenting risk of fire or "loss of motive power" means I can't plug it in.

This is a PHEV Fusion. Prior to the recall I noticed a red light coming from the "box" that is part of the charging cord. I disconnected the charging cord from the wall outlet. Upon a closer inspection I found that there had been a fire inside the receptacle box that had burnt a hole in the box and destroyed the receptacle. I replaced the receptacle and box and continued charging the battery and suspected that there had been a fault in the receptacle. However, I received recall 23S33 in July 2023 and now think the fire I experienced might have been due to the Battery Energy Control Module as referenced in the recall. I no longer am charging the battery as suggested in the recall. It has been 8 months since I received the recall and the only thing I have heard from Ford is a check for $250.00 to help with the added fuel cost due to not being able to use the plug in capability.

Ford has issued a recall for which they have offered no remedy. The recall recommends not using the DEFINING feature of the vehicle; the entire purpose for which it was purchased: i.e. the short but meaningful electric range. Ford say the vehicle should not be charged due to an engineering fault that may lead to a fires. The issue has led to thousands of dollars in extra fuel cost and, in my state at least, Ford is refusing to buyback the vehicle.

Ford reached out in June 2023 with a recall stating to not charge the vehicle and provided a small check to "help with gas." It has now been 7 months with no resolution. I have had no issues in the past from charging my vehicle even though my standard battery did just need to get replaced.
