  • 12/26/2025· UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I am filing a safety and health complaint regarding a known rear window water intrusion defect on my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with approximately 56,000 miles. Despite the severity of the issue, the dealership has refused to provide a permanent repair. This defect is widely documented and has resulted in a recall in Canada, yet no recall exists in the United States—despite significantly more of these vehicles being sold here. The inconsistency in recall coverage is deeply concerning. My vehicle experiences substantial water intrusion that has saturated the rear headliner, rear seat area, and carpeting. This creates a serious health concern, particularly for rear-seat passengers, including children. Prolonged moisture intrusion creates a high likelihood of mold growth beneath interior components, which General Motors has failed to address. There is also a serious safety risk. The rear sliding window heater module is mounted directly to the rear window. It is well known that when this module is exposed to moisture from the leak, it can cause the rear window to shatter or explode. The dealership has acknowledged this risk. A rear window shattering while occupants are in the vehicle could result in serious injury. When covered under bumper-to-bumper warranty, the dealership’s only solution is a “reseal” of the rear window. This is not a permanent repair, and many owners report repeated failures after resealing. This issue is easily verified through widespread consumer complaints. These trucks are expensive vehicles, and owners should not be forced to accept temporary fixes for a defect that presents clear health and safety risks. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue and take appropriate action.

  • 12/22/2023· POWER TRAIN

The Transmission Oil Cooler line separated at the crimp joint from the rubber hose to metal pipe. This sprayed trans fluid all over my hot exhaust(fire risk) and caused and immediate loss of propulsion as I was accelerating to merge onto the highway. I was lucky enough to have multiple vehicles swerve to avoid hitting me. This defect left me on the side of the expressway.

  • 12/14/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES

My truck continously displays service trailer brake system error on home screen. I have researched the error and found replacing the switch is a simple fix. However in my case this didn't work. I have tried 2 different switches, 1 being GM brand without success. Not sure what else to do. I tow a bumper pull travel trailer and fear this could cause an accident when my family and I are on a vacation.

  • 12/09/2023· SERVICE BRAKES

I purchased this vehicle brand new from Lunghamer Chevrolet in Pontiac, MI. I park my truck on a hill every day and as of around a week ago the emergency brake system won't disengage properly. I know it has been engaging since, my gas milage has decreased significantly. Then, a warning light came on the dash, so I took it to Wally Edgar Chevrolet in Lake Orion for diagnosis and they told me that the actuators and wiring harness need to be replaced. They said that there seems to be corrosion on the connector to the harness, and the actuators need to be replaced. Since, my warranty is expired they will not cover the repairs and they quoted me $2,125. I only have 48,428 miles on this vehicle! If the emergency brake is engaged, couldn't it completely stop my vehicle without warning? I drive the highway every day! Isn't this a safety concern? I don't go off road, I don't abuse this truck and I keep it clean as much as possible! Yes, I live in Michigan but, GM has been producing vehicles for quite a long time and I cannot believe they can't keep the wiring connector from corroding. I also went online to see if there were others that have experienced this, and I found one owner of the same model that had to fix it twice! [XXX] . I'm sure I could find more complaints but, I stopped there since I am so disappointed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • 12/08/2020· STEERING

AT SPEEDS ABOVE 58MPH THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES TERRIBLY. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP 16 HOURS OUT OF THE LAST 20 DAYS I HAVE OWNED IT. THEY HAVE DONE OVER A DOZEN ALIGNMENTS AND TIRE BALANCES WITHOUT MAKING IT ANY BETTER. I HAVE ASKED FOR TIRE REPLACEMENTS OR OTHER CHANGES TO THINGS THAT WOULD MAKE IT VIBRATE AND THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE TIRES. SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE STUMPED ON WHAT TO DO OTHER THAN CONTINUING TO BALANCE THE TIRES.

Truck on its own Shift from Park to Drive on its own while at idle. Summary: My 2020 Silverado 2500HD was in the driveway idling in Park. The vehicle was empty and I was checking the garage for screws from a project I had just completed and I wanted to make sure they were all picked up before I parked the truck in the garage so that I did not get a flat tire. After looking for screws and assuring myself everything was cleaned I proceeded into the third bay of our garage and right behind me by an inch the truck proceeded into the garage at a good rate of speed and crashed into the house. I quickly ran through the third bay and to the vehicle as it was still wanting to proceed into the house. I quickly shifted it into Reverse from Drive backed up about 2 to 3 feet and placed the truck back into Park again and placed the emergency brake on and shut the truck off...

I WAS DRIVING IN A SNOW STORM AND THE HEADLIGHTS PACKED IN VERY THICKLY WITH HEAVY WET SLUSHY SNOW AND NO LIGHT WENT THROUGH AND I COULD NOT SEE THE ROAD. THE HEADLIGHT LENS AND THE SURROUNDING TRIM FORM A V-SHAPED TROUGH AROUND THE LIGHT THAT DOESN'T ALLOW THE SNOW TO SLIDE OFF FROM WIND AND BUMPS. THE SHAPE ACTUALLY ENCOURAGED SNOW TO ACCUMULATE AND COVER THE ENTIRE LENS AND THE LED LIGHTS RUN SO COOL THEY DON'T CAUSE ANY SNOW TO MELT. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND CLEAN THE HEADLIGHTS MANUALLY TWICE DURING A 26 MILE TRIP.

  • 12/01/2021· SERVICE BRAKES

The brake pads which were installed from the factory are known by GM as being defective. This was acknowledged when technical bulletin 20-NA-020 was released. The brake pads were know to contain low scorch friction material which can lead to premature wear. When this was discovered, GM began installing new pads which have a high scorch friction material and feature a new lining shim on the backing plate. GM failed to notify their customers of this problem. GM has done this deliberately since once the vehicle reaches over 7,500 miles, the pads are no longer under warranty. I discovered my vehicle was effected from this due to increasingly hearing a high pitch screeching sound coming from the vehicle. After immediately noticing the issue, I scheduled a service appointment and conducted my own research of this issue. This is when I discovered the technical bulletin. Due to my vehicle having over 7,500 miles, I was advised the cost for replacement is my responsibility. The cost for replacement including parts and labor from Chevrolet is approximately $750-$800. This issue is a direct safety concern and a known problem which GM failed to notify their customers of. GM deliberately withheld this information to shift the cost burden of replacement to customers beyond the 7,500 mile warranty period.

MY FOOT WAS LIGHTLY ON THE ACCELERATOR, MAINTAINING SPEED, AS I HAD JUST PASSED THROUGH A TRAFFIC CIRCLE ABOUT A MILE PRIOR, AND WAS IN A SMALL LINE OF "TRAFFIC" TRAVELLING ON THE ROAD. THE REAR WHEELS BEGAN TO LIGHTLY SHAKE (IT FELT SIMILAR TO DRIVING ON RUMBLE STRIPS) FOR APPROXIMATELY 3-5 SECONDS, THEN SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIT UP AND THE TRUCK VIOLENTLY "JERKED" THEN PULLED AND DRIFTED ONTO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD, ONTO THE SHOULDER. THE TRUCK THEN SPUTTERED AND STALLED. I DID NOT ATTEMPT TO RESTART OR MOVE THE VEHICLE, INSTEAD WORKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO OBTAIN A TOW TRUCK.

Since this has been done 3 days later started doing same thing again . Now it is causing brakes to stick at low speeds and is becoming a safety issue and concern for me and my family riding in our truck.

I am writing to express my serious concern and frustration regarding the unresolved recall on my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 (VIN: [XXX] ). Despite multiple visits to multiple dealerships, I was repeatedly told that the necessary parts to complete the recall repair were on back order and instructed to “wait for parts.” No interim solution or assistance was ever offered. As a result of this delay, my vehicle broke down without warning, leaving me stranded on the side of the road. This created a hazardous situation and significant disruption to my day. To make matters worse, I had to pay out of pocket to have the truck towed to a repair shop in an effort to get it operational—an expense I should never have incurred given the known recall and repeated attempts to have the issue corrected by Chevrolet. I have been a loyal Chevrolet owner and have always trusted the brand for its quality and dependability. However, this delay and lack of proactive support is causing significant inconvenience and eroding that trust. This situation is unacceptable for several reasons: 1.Safety Risk and Recall Obligation: Chevrolet acknowledged the defect by issuing a recall, yet I have been forced to operate a vehicle that does not meet your own safety standards for months. 2.Repeated Service Attempts with No Resolution: I followed the proper process and visited an authorized dealer multiple times, only to be turned away each time with no solution beyond “wait for parts.” 3.Breakdown and Financial Loss: The vehicle failure and subsequent towing expense are a direct consequence of Chevrolet’s inability to provide timely parts or alternative accommodations. Numerous times since first taking possession of new vehicle trucks electronic emergency braking system has activated while driving all on its own without warning. several times while on slower side roads and several times while at Interstate speeds, twice coming very close to a head on collision and once coming close to being rear ended while towing a car on a trailer by a semitrailer. The last time there was a message on the drivers information center that stated "service parking brake" The truck has been out of service use to several dealers to diagnose the problem to no avail. I've explained to the dealers its like having a blown tire, you can't predict when it will happen. Its a very dangerous situation. Second the goodyear wrangler tires tend to slide on curves in wet weather. This happens whenever the road is wet and you are on a curve. Both these defects have been reported to the manufacturer as well as servicing dealers. Very dangerous truck.

I had yet ANOTHER TIRE with a bubble. Tried to order another tire but come to find out that Good year discontinued this style of tire. I know they did it because of how bad a tire they have. So I had to order a full set of four new tires. So now I have one tire with less than 8000 miles and another with less than 500 miles and I had to pay for four new tires. I think Goodyear should pay for their mistake not write it off and make another tire without any recourse.

We received a recall on this truck 2/2025 showing that there was a transmission control valve defect that was causing excessive wear on the gears. We took it into Sands Chevrolet and they did a repair under warranty. Within a few weeks, the truck again lost power, would not go over 30 MPH and caused a safety issue as it happened while on the highway. We immediately took the truck back to Sands who informed us of the recall and that the transmission needed to be repaired because of the excessive wear under the recall. Sands Chevrolet told us it would be 2 months before they could repair it. However, there was another local shop that could so we took it there and had it repaired within days. The dealership told us to submit our invoice and credit card statement showing that we paid the $5575 out of pocket that we were told we would be reimbursed for. Now, Chevy is denying that there was even a recall on the vehicle.... but I have the letter from GM showing the recall and the local Sands dealership is the one that told us to go get it fixed. I have the scan of the safety recall, but it is not letting me upload it here. It is GM Recall # N242454440
