- AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:CURTAIN:INFLATORCampaign 20V446000 · 30/07/2020
General Motors, LLC. (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT5 and XT6, Chevrolet Blazer, Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500 and Traverse and GMC Acadia and Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 vehicles. The diffuser component of the Roof-Rail Air Bag (RRAB) inflator may not have been properly crimped to the inflator and could separate from the inflator during air bag deployment.
Risk: If the diffuser separates from the inflator during deployment, RRAB performance may be degraded, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the suspect RRAB modules, free of charge. The recall began September 3, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, or Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300. GM's number for this recall is N202305380.
- POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONCampaign 20V668000 · 29/10/2020
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Chevrolet Cruze and Buick LaCrosse, 2018-2020 Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Terrain, 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, 2019-2020 Buick Encore, Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Acadia, and 2020 Cadillac XT6 vehicles. The start/stop accumulator endcap may have missing bolts.
Risk: Missing bolts on the start-stop accumulator endcap could result in a transmission oil leak and may progress to a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the start-stop transmission accumulator and replace it if any bolts are missing, free of charge. The recall began December 15, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick Customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. - TIRESCampaign 21V115000 · 25/02/2021
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, XT5, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, 2018-2021 Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana, 2019-2020 Chevrolet Blazer, Silverado 1500, GMC Acadia, Sierra 1500, and certain Continental tires sold to the aftermarket for various model year 2018-2021 vehicles. The affected tires were cured for too long during production.
Risk: Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall resulting in sudden air loss or a belt edge separation which could lead to a tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tires, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 22, 2021. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. Radiator was found to be leaking. Now thermostat is sticking. This could have caused my engine to overheat and catch fire. I have had a mechanical shop replace the radiator but could not afford to replace the thermostat yet. I had been seeing warning lights and still see warnings after radiator was replaced. They said “Steering Assist Reduced” and “ESC” and the engine light came on. I went to Auto Zone Dec 9th to have them tell me what was wrong. I took to shop on Dec 13th. I have googled several complaints about Chevy blazers having this particular problems. This is apparently a widespread issue that needs to be recalled.

There seems to be a constant problem with the service driver assist error code popping up and check engine light coming on. The ac heating keeps losing temperature. I've looked for support for this issue and it seems to be a common problem for chevy owners. Why isn't there a recall on this.

The thermostat failed on a trip locking in 0 temperature reading and steering assist warning. Licensed mechanic repaired on 10/9/25 invoice is available. 67,509 miles. This could risk overheating and destroying the engine and might cause accident. Two other friends have had similar issues, appears to be a safety defect!

Where do I start. Spring of 2024 I believe, less than 55,000 miles, my transmission went out. No warning. I just went out to my vehicle to go to work and when I put it into reverse, my vehicle make a awful noise, jerked forward almost going into my garage door, then wouldn't move.. I put it back in park, tried to put into reverse again and it wouldn't go. It was stuck in park. Had to get it towed to the dealership where they advised me the transmission went out. It was covered under the drivetrain warranty, but the GM warranty doesn't cover rental. It took almost 4 weeks for GM to approve for a new transmission due to parts being on back order to rebuild my transmission. Several months later, I was driving down the road when the ESC light and then it said "shift to neutral & press start" and I lost power. I coasted into a parking lot, got it fired up, but had no air conditioning (of course it was summer). Took it to the dealer and they said my radiator and A/C Compressor had to be replaced. Luckily my extended warranty covered the $5000 repair. Now 4 months later I got "steering assist reduced, drive with care" with codes. Took to shop and the codes basically was the temp was to low, but the shop couldn't find anything wrong. Cleared the codes and so far so good, but now my ESC light pops on once a week again. I don't even have 60,000 miles on my vehicle.

New 2020 Chevy Blazer AWD Premier with OEM Continental CrossContact LX Sport tires in size 265/45R21. Car has 18,000 miles on it and tires have been rotated and inflated correctly. All 4 tires have tread depth near 2/32 and need to be replaced per tire shop. Come to find out this Continental brand of tires has no treadlife warranty at all so they don't even believe in their product. How can Chevy and Continental be allowed to put this tire on new cars to rip off the consumer. I'm going to have to buy 4 new tires on a car that has 18,000 miles on it. This should not be happening. It's also a safety concern for others on the road that aren't aware they need to check their tire tread depth so soon with these tires.

We have experienced 2 issues that are very well known issues, I will list them here. First, is the Shift to Park issue, that involves an electrical switch and wiring harness on the shifter assembly. Second, is regarding a "driver assist reduced drive with care" alert message that includes Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0128, but is actually related to either the engine cooling sensor or the cooling thermostat housing assembly. Both issues are very well known, and many owners have had these issues.
- 12/01/2024· ENGINE
Steering assist warning and engine check light are on. I had an scan done and was told it was the thermostat and coolant temperature sensor which seems to be a common problem. There are no safety concerns to my knowledge. I feel this problem needs to be addressed as repairs are very costly.
- 11/30/2023· ENGINE
The car repeatedly has an error pop up that states steering assist is no longer activated and to drive with caution. The thermostat during this is also fully on cold. The check engine comes on after. The sensor and thermostat are repaired based on the code and problem persists. Same problem all over forums but Chevy refuses to fix as no recall. This is very concerning as the car may randomly go into limp mode while driving on the highway at 70mph putting at risk for crashing. The steering assist is also out putting at further risk. This is despite fixing and clearing the codes shown. This is a known issue that Chevy is refusing to address/recall.

Questions Answered Below: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle is at a GM Dealership now and is available for inspection. I have not authorized repairs as of yet. I am being told by the dealership: The ball joint on the control arm on the left side seized snapping the axle shaft - causing the tire to to turn out. The dealership has suggested: Mechanical repair costs $1,850, Plus an additional $2,000 due to wheel well damage caused by the failure. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I am being told by the dealership: The ball joint on the control arm on the left side seized snapping the axle shaft - causing the tire to to turn out. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Due to my slow speed turning out of the parking lot ~10 mph - the vehicle came to a sudden halt. However, had this occurred while driving any faster - it would have been very dangerous and put myself and others at significant risk. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It was towed by AAA and has been inspected by the GM Dealership. That is the only inspection thus far. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Earlier in the day while pulling out of a parking spot and turning the wheel to the left I thought I felt some type of resistance then it went away as I started driving. No other symptoms or warning prior to the failure.
- 11/23/2022· POWER TRAIN
I pulled in my driveway which is on a slight incline. I turned the vehicle off but the transmission was still in drive. Not realizing this I stepped out of the vehicle and the vehicle started rolling back down my driveway across the sidewalk and into the street. Had there been anyone walking on the sidewalk the vehicle would have hit them or there could have been an accident in the street. I called the dealership where I got the car and And all they could offer was that you’re not supposed to turn off the car in drive. I know you’re not supposed to turn the vehicle off in drive but it happens and has happened several times to me and I’m sure to others also. I think this is a major design flaw as I have seen that on Ford vehicles when you turn the vehicle off in drive the transmission automatically goes into park.

Steering assist reduced message followed by check engine light came on and temperature gauge not moving from cold. Immediately took it to the dealership Hiley Chevrolet in Rockwall, TX. After $250 for diagnostic, failed thermostat is the cause and $1216 repair cost. Known issue that Chevrolet issued special coverage for 2021 Blazers, but none for 2020. When putting the vehicle into park, we are receiving a “Shift to Park” error. This issue appears to be common among thousands of General Motors vehicles. However, the dealership is unable to assist us because the repair bulletin only applies to the 2019 model year and does not include the 2020 model year. Despite this, the issue we are experiencing is identical to the one reported for the 2019 model.

I am getting the message "Shift to Park" displayed while vehicle in park after turning the vehicle off. Looking online, it seems to be a common issue with Blazers as well as other GM vehicles. I found online that "the cause of the condition may be that the park switch in the transmission control (shifter) assembly is not pulling the BCM signal low to electronically show that the vehicle is in the Park position." If this is such a common issue on similar vehicle to mine since 2018 it appears, why is this not a Recall already?!

Component/System Involved: The shift-to-park sensor in my 2020 Chevy Blazer is malfunctioning. After shifting into park, the vehicle does not detect it and displays a “Shift to Park” message. The issue is ongoing, and the component is available for inspection if needed. Safety Risk: The vehicle cannot be fully shut off or locked, increasing the risk of battery drain or unintended movement. This poses a safety risk if the vehicle is left in public or on an incline. Inspection History: The vehicle has not been inspected Warning Signs: The “Shift to Park” message appears when trying to turn off the vehicle, despite the gear being in park. This started around Fall 2024 and has occurred regularly since.

Component/System Involved: The electric power steering system in my 2020 Chevy Blazer is malfunctioning. A warning appears on the dashboard: “Steering Assist is Reduced – Drive with Care.” When this happens, steering becomes very stiff and difficult. The issue is ongoing, and the component is available for inspection if requested. Safety Risk: This creates a serious safety hazard. The sudden loss of steering assist makes it hard to turn the wheel, especially at low speeds or when maneuvering. It puts me and others at risk, especially if it happens in traffic or while turning. Problem Confirmed by Dealer: No, the issue has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer or service center. Inspection History: The vehicle has not been inspected by a dealership, manufacturer, police, or insurance. Warning Signs: The only warning is the “Steering Assist is Reduced – Drive with Care” message, which appears randomly—sometimes at startup, sometimes while driving. The issue began around 10/15/2024 and continues to be an on going issue.

Thermostat is faulty at 55k miles. Purchased 2020 Blazer RS, certified used from Chevy in October 2023. Less than 1 yr later, thermostat is stuck on cold, no ax or heat, drivers assist reduced notice. Same issues as previous documented complaints. The frustration is why this known issue is not covered under warranty or recall! I just had my 50k maintenance service done while this issue was occurring- service told me “well we cleared the codes” , 2 days later check engine is on, temp stuck on cold, fan is over worked and no a/c or heat- and driver assist turns off. The safety issues around causing more engine damage by improper cooling and reduction of driving assistance. Additionally, parking issue with vehicle not recognizing it’s in park and having to wiggle or jam the shifter- car drains battery and won’t lock until resolved. I backed my vehicle out of the garage and put it in park and stepped out of the Driver's door. I was going to put my son in his car seat in the rear seat when the vehicle started moving backwards and the opened driver's door knocked us down. I was able to push my son out of the way, but the vehicle continued and the front left tire rolled over both of my legs. The vehicle continued in reverse along the driveway, struck a trash container and went up the incline at the main road. It crossed a busy two lane road and into my neighbors yard. The vehicle came to a stop about 10 feet from our neighbor's house without striking anything else. We purchased this car used with just under 300 mile on it. During the time that we've owned it, it has randomly flashed a "Shift to Park" warning lamp on the dash when I shift it to park and turn it off. It has never done what happened to me today. A few months ago, my husband and I took the car to the GM dealership to have it checked out before the warranty expired. We told them about the "Shift to Park" warning lamp and that the car was shifting hard while driving it. They kept the car a few days and told us they were unable to find anything wrong with it.

The original issue was that the temperature gauge was pegged on cold and the A/C was inoperative. The vehicle’s fans would run continuously even when the engine was cold. This created a safety concern since the engine’s actual temperature could not be monitored, and loss of A/C affected drivability in hot conditions. The issue appears related to the engine’s coolant temperature sensor or thermostat system, which causes incorrect signals to the temperature gauge and HVAC system. The condition has been reported by multiple owners of the 2020 Chevy Blazer 3.6L. In my case, the malfunction happened suddenly and has been repeatable. There were no prior warning lamps until the issue occurred, at which point the temperature gauge stopped working properly and the air conditioning failed.
