THE WINDSHIELD ON OUR 2019 SUBARU LEGACY CRACKED ON SATURDAY 12/21/2019. THERE WASN'T ANY CRACK IN THE MORNING WHEN I DROVE TO THE OFFICE. THE CAR WAS PARKED AT A COVERED PARKING SPOT THE WHOLE DAY. IN THE EVENING, I NOTICED A CRACK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHILE I WAS DRIVING BACK. THERE WAS NO IMPACT ON THE WINDSHIELD WITH PEBBLE ETC WHILE DRIVING DURING THE DAY. WHEN I RESEARCHED ONLINE, I FOUND OUT THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE NOTICING THEIR 2017-2019 SUBARU CAR WINDSHIELDS ARE CRACKING LIKE MINE. SO I AM BRINGING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION. I HAVE TO PAY $500 DEDUCTIBLE TO MY INSURANCE THIS WEEK AND GET IT REPLACED.

Main infotainment display delamination, this causes a safety concerns, as the screen can become irresponsive, and even black out during reverse making the backup camera, nonfunctioning. The other safety issue at risk is that because of the delamination it causes "ghost-clicking" on the screen, and makes the screen irresponsive, veering the drivers attention away from the road, potentially causing accidents as the main display controls all radio and bluetooth, and navigation. There are no indication or warnings from the manufacturer that the vehicle could be a risk to drive. When I called Subaru of America, I was told by the agent that they could not assist, when I brought up, based on my research this was a known issue, Subaru of America offered to pay $600 towards the replacement of the head unit. The head unit dependant on the dealer and labor time can vary from $1400-2200 for the repair.

Subaru Starlink system constantly drains battery, leaving driver and passengers stranded. The Starlink is constantly looking for a 3G network, and my area has updated all 3G networks to 5G. After shutting car off, the Starlink will continuously search and drain battery so it will not start. The only temporary fix is to remove the fuse and disable the module. The Starlink is supposed to help in the case of an emergency, but it cannot help if the battery is dead. dealerships have acknowledged the problem but will only offer a fix for the replacement of the module for a sum of about $ 1,300.00.
- 12/09/2024· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The Starlink screen becomes uncontrollable and begins changing screens on its own making driving very distracting and losing all control of vital functions such as radio, gps and phone. I have no control over it. I have video of the incident but cannot figure out how to upload it. I k low previous year models were recalled for the same situation and I believe there is a class action lawsuit.

Vehicle was using the self driving feature of the Subaru Eyesight system. With the system engaged, the vehicle is supposed to accelerate and apply brakes accordingly as to keep a distance from the vehicle in front. Today, that system failed. The vehicle, with the Eyesight system engaged, accelerated right into the vehicle in front. There was no warning. The vehicle will be go for repair on 12/5/23. I have used the Eyesight system since purchasing the vehicle in 2019 with no issues, except for today. Luckily, I was driving at a very low speed but this safety concern can cause catastrophic injuries if it is not fixed.

- 11/26/2025· FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I am reporting a safety issue with my 2019 Subaru Legacy that hesitates and nearly stalls when accelerating from a stop and is now undriveable due to stalling and shaking. I bought the car new from AutoNation Subaru Carlsbad in 2019. It has about 65,000 miles and I have driven it less than 2,000 miles since its last dealer visit in August 2025. Since around August 2025, the car has intermittently lost power under light acceleration from a stop or low speed, especially while pulling into or through intersections. Pressing the accelerator sometimes produces very little power, the engine feels like it may stall, and traffic behind me must brake or go around me, creating a risk of a rear‑end collision in intersections. In August 2025 I took the car to AutoNation Subaru Carlsbad and reported that the symptoms seemed like a fuel pump problem (my independent mechanic agreed). The dealer kept the car for about two weeks, experienced the hard‑starting/turn‑over issue, but did not test or replace the fuel pump. They performed other services, charged me $1,956.21, and returned the vehicle without fixing the safety issue, even though they later acknowledged the fuel pump is covered under an extended warranty. One day after picking the car up, the same hesitation and loss of power recurred in an intersection. On November 26, 2025, the car again became disabled: it cranks, briefly starts roughly, shakes, and then stalls, and will not stay running. I believe this is a defective low‑pressure fuel pump or related fuel system component, similar to known Subaru fuel pump defects that can cause stalling and loss of power. No crash or injuries yet, but there have been near‑misses due to unexpected loss of power in traffic.

The "infotainment system" screen is delaminating. I can not see my surroundings when in reverse. The system is paired with my mobile telephone and randomly calls persons in my contact list without my requesting it do so. The radio can not be turned off and it consistently makes noises as if it is attempting to scan different radio stations. These defects first appeared at 34,000 miles, well below the 36,000 mile warranty period.

I HAD 4,000 MILES GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2 TIRES WHEN I EXPERIENCED A SIDEWALK BLOWOUT ON THE EXPRESSWAY IN ANOTHER STATE. WE HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED WHILE TRAVELING. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID IT WAS SUSPECT SINCE THERE WASN'T A FOREIGN OBJECT OR PUNCTURE, IT WAS JUST THE SIDEWALL THAT BLEW OUT. THERE WERE NO POTHOLES AROUND. FAST FORWARD 5 MONTHS AND ANOTHER TIRE DEVELOPED A BULGE IN THE SIDEWALL. I HAPPENED TO NOTICE IT WHEN I WAS AT THE GAS STATION. LUCKILY IT DIDN'T BLOW OUT. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY TIRE EVER BLOWING OUT OR BULGING IN ALL THE MILES I DRIVE. I'M ON THE ROAD ALMOST EVERY DAY FOR MY SALES JOB. TO ME THIS SEEMS LIKE A QUALITY ISSUE. I STILL HAVE THE SECOND TIRE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LOOK AT IT. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER I TOOK IT TO COULDN'T BE BOTHERED WITH A WARRANTY ISSUE. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO MY WHEEL AT ALL AND I DIDN'T HIT A POTHOLE OR ROAD DEBRIS.

On the beginning of a trip the screen, Infotainment system started jumping, and shaking. We had been using the system for guidance while driving in unfamiliar area. The screen then started randomly selecting buttons while we were still trying to use directions from the screen. Then it called a contact on my contact list 8-9 times, and I had to keep hanging up in order so it would stop. Finally I had to shut down the entire screen. We lost control of the Infotainment and then after I had to turn it off, I tried several times again to turn it back on with no luck. The screen would not respond and continues to be completely frozen. As I have discovered this is a common problem that Subaru dealers have heard about from thousands of customers. Subaru needs to issue a recall.

ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS I WAS STARTLED BY A LOUD POP KIND OF NOISE COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD AREA WHILE DRIVING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS AROUND TO CAUSE THIS EITHER TIME AND NOTHING WHATSOEVER HAS HIT THE WINDSHIELD SINCE I'VE OWNED THIS CAR. I AM THE SOLE DRIVER. ON BOTH OCCASIONS, I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STRAIGHT ROAD GOING 50MPH ON MY WAY TO WORK (A 10 MINUTE COMMUTE). THE MORNING AFTER THE SECOND OCCURRENCE, I GOT INTO MY CAR TO FIND A CRACK ON THE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE OF MY WINDSHIELD ABOUT 2/3S OF THE WAY DOWN AND STARTING FROM THE OUTER EDGE. THERE HAD BEEN NO CRACK OR ANY HINT THAT SOMETHING WOULD HAPPEN WHEN I LEFT MY CAR THE DAY BEFORE. HOW DOES A CRACK JUST APPEAR OVERNIGHT WITH ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO CAUSE IT? I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE HAD THIS HAPPEN. THE CAR WAS ABSOLUTELY STATIONARY, NO NEARBY TREES OR ANYTHING THAT COULD CAUSE ANY IMPACT. DUE TO COVID, THE CRACK SAT FOR QUITE SOME TIME, WHEN I FINALLY GOT TO MAKE IT TO THE SUBURU DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT MY CAR, THEY DENIED MY CLAIM. THE TECHS SAID THEY COULD FIND NO CHIP OR ORIGINATION FOR THE CRACK... (BECAUSE THERE WASN'T ONE) THE TECHS AGREED IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY BUT SUBURU STILL DENIED MY CLAIM. The radio, which is also impacts screen, is defective. It is available for examination. The radio jumps stations with beeps, the sound can’t be eliminated by turning down the volume. It indiscriminately jumps from satellite to FM. It will hold a station for a while but then it jumps around. I get a few seconds of a music or talk station and then it jumps. It is a safety hazard since the beeps distracts the driver. It doesn’t recognize AppleCarPlay that is used for GPS navigation. The screen when it manages to show the menu, does not respond to touch so you can’t use GPS or access other vehicle processes such as clock, brightness, etc. I can’t use the phone for navigation while charging only seeing turn-by-turn directions, no map. The dealer has ordered a replacement radio but it is back ordered. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other than Dan Perkins Subaru in Milford, CT. No warning indicator, it just started exhibiting the jump problem. The experience started gradually and would go back to working order. It got worse over several months, first appearing 7 months ago. Internet search shows this is an issue with several Subaru models and years.

Touch screen driver information system has random display and audible warnings. Audio and navigation display cannot be controlled and does random radio channels and map displays. The screen developed bubbles under the front panel that appears to activate the touch sensor for the display. This condition is very distracting to the driver and might cause unsafe vehicle operation. The display changing and beeping during driving causes an unsafe situation. It also impacts the ability to use and see the rear view camera as the display is distorted due to the delamination/bubbles. This problem was identified by many Subaru Legacy and Outback owners in 2018 which led to a recall and warranty extension for repairs. The radio/nav display is manufactured by Harmon. It was widely reported in 2019 and the problem persists. Subaru contends that the display bubbles are caused by liquid contamination of the display, but this has not occurred in our vehicle, and dealers will not accept responsibility for the defective displays.

Dealer ordered a replacement over a year ago and I have still not gotten a replacement because they keep telling me it is back ordered and that they put a rush on it. Still nothing in over a year. This problem also causes the battery to drain while parked. I had to put a brand new battery in and it still drains.
