Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Accord Sedan, Accord Hybrid, and 2019-2020 Insight vehicles. A software error may cause intermittent or continuous disruptions in communication between the Body Control Module (BCM) and other components. This may result in malfunctions of various systems such as the windshield wipers and defroster, rearview camera, exterior lights, audible warning of a stopped vehicle, and power window operation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems" and number 111, "Rear Visibility" as well as FMVSS numbers 104, 108, 114, 118, and 305.

  • 12/30/2024· FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

My vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall Number 23V-858, Honda Campaign Number YGK, Service Bulletin Number 24-009. I have received multiple notifications via US mail from the American Honda Motor Co, Inc., Automobile Division notifying me of a recall of the fuel pump. The first notice was received in February 2024 with instructions to contact my local dealer as soon as possible. I first began contacting my local Honda dealers (Findlay Honda, Henderson, NV; Centennial Hills Honda; Honda West) in the Las Vegas, Nevada in March 2024. Each time, I was informed that none of the dealerships had the fuel pump and to call back in May 2024. I called in May 2024 and was instructed to call in July 2024. I called in July 2024 and was instructed to call in October 2024. I called in October 2024 and was instructed to call in November 2024. I called a week before Thanksgiving 2024 and was instructed to call in December 2024. Last week, I attempted to contact each dealership again about the fuel pump. The service departments of Findlay Honda, Henderson NV and Centennial Hills Honda would not answer the telephone. Honda West placed me on a fuel pump wait list. My vehicle has been on a recall list for almost a year with no repairs. I do not have any confidence that Honda will reimburse the cost of the repair if I utilize another mechanic.

The dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the parking brake switch needed to be replaced. The contact had a second appointment scheduled with the dealer to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 95,400.

  • 12/28/2022· FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Noticed there is already an investigation open. My car is literally afraid of shadows and other objects that just aren't there. It will slam on the brakes as it detects that there is an impending crash despite any cars near me. It has almost caused 3 accidents with the cars behind me. I took it to my local honda dealership and they told me nothing was wrong with my car and everything was fine.

  • 12/28/2019· VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES

ON APRIL 13, 2019, MY BRAND NEW, 2019 HONDA ACCORD SPORT 2.0T ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 55 MPH, WITH MERE/MILD RAIN BROUGHT AN ALERT OF COLLISION MITIGATION WARNING ONTO THE DASH. THE CAR HAS SINCE ALERTED ME OF THE SAME PROBLEM ABOUT 5 TIMES, IN BOTH WET AND DRY HIGHWAY CONDITIONS. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THE CAR HAD NO RECORDS OF THE ALERT. NOT KNOWING IF THE HONDA SENSING SYSTEM WILL WORK IS VERY ALARMING AND I HAVE BECOME SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS I CAN NOT TRUST THAT THE VEHICLE WILL PERFORM AS ADVERTISED. I AM PAYING FOR A SERVICE THAT IS NOT SAFE TO USE OR NOT SAFE FOR OTHER MOTORISTS AS MANY OTHER ACCORD AND HONDA OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ON THEIR CARS.

  • 12/27/2022· EXTERIOR LIGHTING

I have had (2) headlight assembly replacements on my Touring due to water infiltration into the housing causing obscurity of the beam. I am now having a third headlight assembly problem due to water infiltration. This is under standard wear conditions and no damage to the components. I've heard other drivers having the same issue. Honda is refusing to resolve the issue for me.

No one was injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an auto body shop that repaired the physical damage to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle but could not diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired, however, the contact concern was that failure could reoccur. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,504.

PURCHASED NEW 2019 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN ON 07/17/2019. WHILE DRIVING ON VACATION IN SEPTEMBER 2019 ON INTERSTATE GOING AROUND 75 MPH REACHED OVER TO PUT CUP IN HOLDER AND LIGHTLY BUMPED GEAR SHIFT. THIS MOVED GEAR SHIFT BACK FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL. DID NOT TOUCH BUTTON ON FRONT OF STICK TO CHANGE GEARS! PUSHED BACK ON STICK TO PUT BACK INTO DRIVE AND IT MOVED BACK INTO DRIVE WITHOUT BRAKING OR USING BUTTON ON STICK TO CHANGE FROM NEUTRAL TO DRIVE. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN LATER IN SEPTEMBER ON INTERSTATE WHILE GOING 60 MPH BY HITTING GEAR STICK WITH MY KNEE WHILE REPOSITIONING LEGS IN SEAT DRIVING. ALSO ONCE AGAIN IN DECEMBER ON INTERSTATE WHILE DRIVING AROUND 60 MPH ALSO BUMPING BACK OF GEAR STICK. I HAVE HAD NO REPAIRS. DID ASK SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT PATTY PECK HONDA WHY THIS WAS OCCURING AND THEY DENIED THAT IT WAS EVEN POSSIBLE.

USUALLY WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLDER SAY BELOW 50 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, A LOUD HUM EMITS FROM THE SPEAKER SYSTEM WITH OR WITHOUT MUSIC ON IF I AM GOING LESS THAN 40 MPH. IF I CRACK A WINDOW OR THE SUNROOF/MOONROOF OR A WINDOW, THE SOUND GOES AWAY TOO. I ALSO DON'T NOTICE THE NOISE IN THE SUMMER/WARMER MONTHS HERE IN THE NORTHEAST NOR DO I NOTICE THE HUM WHEN I AM TRAVELING FASTER THAN ABOUT 40 MPH, SUCH AS DOING 50/55 ON A HIGHWAY. SOME FOLKS BELIEVE IT MIGHT BE PART OF ACTIVE NOISE CANCELATION TO DROWN OUT THE SOUND OF THE ENGINE IN THE CABIN. ON 11/22, WHEN MY CAR WAS IN ACCESSORY MODE, THE STEREO SYSTEM WAS FLICKERING AND THE WARNING SIGN SAYING THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH MY BRAKE SYSTEM APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD. I ALSO NOTICED MY BREAK PEDAL WAS PULSATING. I TOOK IT TO HONDA AND THEY CHANGED THE BATTERY OF MY CAR ON 11/30. I CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY TOLD ME THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT. TWO DAYS AFTER I GOT MY BATTERY CHANGERS, THE TOUCH SCREEN WENT OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND CAUSED THE STEREO SYSTEM TO REBOOT. TODAY, I WAS AT THE STOP LIGHT WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN. THERE WAS NOT A CAR INFRONT OF ME AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL AND THE CAR STARTED TO MOVE. ABOUT TWO SECONDS OF MOVING THE CAR, THE CAR BREAKED BY ITSELF AND THE HAZARDS LIGHTS CAME ON- THIS HAPPENED ON 12/14. A CAR BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING ME.

HIGH PITCHED NOISE PRESENT SO LONG AS ANY POWER IS DRAWN ANYWHERE IN THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE IS A CONSTANT 15KHZ NOISE WITH SPORADIC NOISES OCCUPYING THE 15-20KHZ RANGE. NOTICED IN THE DAYS AFTER BUYING THE BRAND NEW CAR. TAKEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES, HONDA FLOWN OUT ENGINEERS TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID IT'S AN ISSUE BUT IT IS PRESENT IN ALL MODEL YEAR HYBRIDS, SO THEY DO NOT INTEND TO FIX. MOST PEOPLE LOSE THE ABILITY TO HEAR SOUND IN THIS RANGE BY AGE 40. UNFORTUNATELY OF YOU CAN HEAR THIS NOISE IT IS VERY LOUD AND SO HIGH PITCHED THAT I NOW REQUIRE HEARING PROTECTION IN MY LEFT EAR TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. HONDA CLAIMS IT IS NOT AN ISSUE BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE CAN NOT HEAR IT. I HAVE READ STUDIES OUT OF AM AUSTRALIAN UNIVERSITY NOTING THAT EVEN SOUNDS OUTSIDE OUR RANGE OF HEARING CAN CAUSE SIGNIFICANT HEALTH ISSUES (MIGRAINES, HEARING LOSS, NAUSEA ETC.) THEY ARE REFUSING TO RESPOND TO ME IN ANY CAPACITY. I NOW HAVE TO SET UPON THE TASK OF TRADING IN MY CAR WITH LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON IT JUST SO I CAN DRIVE WITH MY EARS UNPLUGGED. I AM TOLD TO EXPECT A LOSS OF AT LEAST $10,000 ON MY TRADE. I HAVE ATTACHED TWO PHOTOS OF A SOUND ANALYSER APP I USED TO CATEGORIZE THE NOISE. FIRST PICTURE SHOWS A CONSTANT BOLD LINE AT 15KHZ RIGHT AS I TURNED MY CAR ON. THE SECOND SHOWS SOME ~20KHZ "CHIRPS" I NOTICED WHILE DRIVING. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. I FEAR NOT ONLY FOR MYSELF AND THE MASSIVE FINANCIAL HIT I WILL NO DOUBT SUFFER AT THE END OF THIS, BUT FOR THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THOSE DRIVING THESE CARS. THANK YOU, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

  • 12/10/2019· POWER TRAIN

HONDA 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION REVERSE GEAR LOCK OUT SAFETY MECHANISM FAILED TO WORK UNTIL NOW. THE PROBLEM IS STILL EXISTED ON MY VEHICLE. AFTER MY CAR WAS SERVICED AT HONDA DEALER FOR ENGINE BLOCK REPLACEMENT (FAILED AT 3400 MILES), REVERSE GEAR LOCK OUT DO NOT WORK. HAVING THE REVERSE GEAR GATE LOCATED AT FAR RIGHT, THERE MUST BE ELECTRONIC LOCK OUT MECHANISM NOT ALLOWING THE SHIFT SELECTOR PASS THE 5TH AND 6TH GEAR COLUMN WHEN CAR IS MOVING FORWARD AT CERTAIN SPEED. SINCE SUCH FUNCTION HAS FAILED ON MY CAR, I CAN EASILY MOVE THE SHIFTER TO THE COLUMN WHERE REVERSE GEAR IS AT ANY SPEED. PROBLEM IS IF I SHIFT FROM 5TH TO 6TH, SHIFTER SLIDE INTO REVERSE GEAR GATE AND GRINDS AT HIGH SPEED. IT CAUSED ANOTHER SHIFTING PROBLEM AND IT MAYBE POTENTIALLY SAFETY ISSUE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WHEN I SHIFT FROM 4TH TO 5TH, AGAIN SHIFTER SLIDES PASS THE 5TH GEAR GATE, AND ENDS UP MISS SHIFT SINCE THERE IS NO FORWARD GEAR ON TOP OF REVERSE GEAR SELECTING COLUMN. I FEAR THE GRINDS SHIFTING TO 6TH. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITHOUT OVERDRIVE FOR MORE THAN 1 MONTH.. IT COULD CAUSE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION ACCELERATING AT RAMP TO MOTORWAY. THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT TIME DELAY ACCELERATING WITH HIGHER GEARS ON FREEWAY. HAVE BEEN TO HONDA DEALERS 3 TIMES. UNFORTUNATELY ALL OF SERVICE ADVISORS AND TECHS WERE AWARE OF THE GEAR SHIFTING SAFETY FEATURE WHICH IS CLEARLY PUBLISHED IN OWNERS MANUAL PAGE 490.

  • 12/08/2022· FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

2019 Honda Accord LX I purchased this car late September in 2022 from Mclarty Honda in Little Rock, Ar with less than 25,000 miles. To date the brakes have locked up multiple times on my way to work for no reason whatsoever and I have a witness to every time. I would be driving down hwy46 headed to Sheridan, Ar and the brakes would engage for no reason and completely stop my car in the middle of the road. Nothing would be in the road for it to sense/detect or whatever to even need to apply the brakes. I recorded a video of the brakes smoking like my car was on fire just yesterday morning when i got to work. I’ve called the dealership multiple times and they have no response or reason for why my car is doing this, I have even scheduled it to be repaired two times and the dealership hasn’t been able to fix the problem and it pisses me off they are even able to sell such a piece of shit vehicle. The dealership along with honda should be held accountable, apparently they have known about this issue since 2015 and yet to do anything to correct the issue just swept it under the rug and left the consumer to deal with their problems. Whats even worse is Congress has made it a law that new vehicles are required to have this worthless piece of technology installed on each vehicle, smh like they have any clue what the American people want or need lol and why is it taking so long for NHSTA to get a response from Honda? This is ridiculous and the people who are in charge need to get off their butt and get something done for the people instead of their pocketbook. Real talk

CAR HAS GONE INTO LIMP MODE TWICE. FIRST TIME WAS WHEN I HAD IT FOR 2 WEEKS. I WAS DRIVING 65MPH AND THE CAR JUST STOPPED IN THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD TO KEEP FROM GETTING HIT AND CAUSED SOME UNDERCARRIAGE DAMAGE. THE CAR WAS TOWED. HONDA "FIXED" THE LIMP MODE ISSUE BUT REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY OTHER DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE CAR GOING INTO LIMP MODE. LAST MONTH I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AT 2:30 AM AND THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE AGAIN. THE CAR WAS TOWED FOR A SECOND TIME TO A DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY STATED THERE WAS NO WAY THE FIRST DEALERSHIP FIXED THE CAR. THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS NOTED THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM, THE FUEL INJECTOR AND ALL OF THE CYLINDERS HAD TO BE REPLACED. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE METAL SHAVING NOTED IN MY OIL AND THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM CAUSING FURTHER ENGINE DAMAGE AS TIME GOES ON. HONDA HAS ALSO REFUSED TO PAY FOR MY RENTAL CAR DURING THIS PROCESS EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE ON 6/7/19 ALSO STATED THAT IF THE CAR GOES INTO LIMP MODE AGAIN AND I GET HIT, ALL ADDITIONAL DAMAGE CAUSED FROM THE ACCIDENT WILL BE MY RESPONSIBILITY.

Mid October 2023, we driving on the freeway and the car started to slow down on its own. We could not accelerate to match the speed of cars around us or to get the speed limits in a 55 to 65 zone, making it dangerous for us and others to continue driving on the freeway at extremely slow/low speeds. We towed it the dealership, who said it was defective spark plugs. This car was only 4 years old with extremely low millage and the spark plugs should've last a lot longer. They changed the spark plugs under warranty. Late November 2024, we were getting off the freeway and the check engine light came on but there were no service codes. Everything was running normally except for the engine was making a loud noise. We parked at a shopping center and approximately 30 minutes later, restarted the car and all these messages and icons appeared for: Vehicle stability assistant system problem, Hill start assistant problem, ACC, Collision Mitigation breaking system problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, Emissions system problem, TPMS, Brake system problem, Electric power steering system problem. Towed it dealership and after an hour of diagnostics testing, they said it’s the spark plugs again! Just a little over a year and 2 out of 4 spark plugs are bad again. This is not right. We hardly drive this car and it’s only a little over a year since the spark plugs were replaced and a little over 5 years since we got the car brand new. Spark plugs are supposed to last 10 years or 100,000 miles and we’re not close to either. This time they said it's not covered under warranty and is over $800.

Car makes a highly audible hum resonance at 45-55 mph. This sounds like a very load wheel bearing issue but it apparently related to auto noise reduction system putting the sound through the speakers. This is a known Honda issue they need to fix, shouldn't happen on a nearly new car.

  • 12/02/2020· UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

I WAS AT A RED STOP LIGHT ON A LOCAL STREET. IT WAS A CLEAR, SUNNY DAY. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I STARTED TO PROCEED. I WAS IN THE LEFT HAND TRAFFIC LANE (THERE ARE TWO LANES FOR A LEFT HAND TURN AT THIS SPOT). AS I PROCEEDED TO MAKE THE TURN, THE BRAKE MITIGATION SYSTEM ACTIVATED THE BRAKE. THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WAS A CAR BEHIND ME AND TO MY RIGHT. I DRIVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION SO THIS ACTION CAUSED MY CAR TO STALL. LUCKILY THE CAR BEHIND ME DID NOT HIT ME. I TRIED TO RESTART MY CAR QUICKLY. I HAD A HARD TIME RESTARTING THE CAR AS THE PARKING BRAKE MUST BE ON TO START THE CAR AS WELL AS THE CLUTCH DEPRESSED AND FOOT BRAKE PRESSED. AS THIS ALL HAPPENED SO QUICKLY AND I DID NOT EXPECT THE CAR TO STALL FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I DO NOT LIKE THE MITIGATION SYSTEM AS YOU HAVE TO TURN IT OFF EACH TIME YOU START YOUR CAR. FOR A CONSCIENTIOUS DRIVER YOU DO NOT NEED THIS SYSTEM. IT IS ONLY A BURDEN AND A HAZARD. I CALLED A LOCAL DEALER TO ASK ABOUT SHUTTING THIS SYSTEM OFF PERMANENTLY AND THE ADVISOR TOLD ME SHE HAD A HONDA THAT DOES THE SAME THING AT A CERTAIN ROAD SHE DRIVES WHERE THERE IS A DIP IN THE ROAD. PLEASE CHECK TO SEE IF HONDA IS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE MITIGATION SYSTEM.

  • 12/01/2021· FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

On 11/30/21, I was driving approximatley at 25 mph when my car suddenly came to a complete stop for no apparent reason. My foot was on the accelerator, an orange warning on the dash flashed and my head and neck snapped. This is the third incident this year. Other incidents were 11/18/21 and 2/6/21. Both were reported to NHTSA. Complaint number for 11/18/21 is 11442365. The Complaint number for 2/6/21 is 11395658. I do plan to take the car to the dealer again for diagnostic tests even though the tests performed on 2/10/21 showed "no system failure was detected at this moment". I fully expect to be told the same thing regarding this incident.

  • 12/01/2021· FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Twice in the last 4 weeks ( 11/18/21 and 11/30/21) my 2019 Honda Accord came to complete and sudden stop for no apparent reason. My foot was on the gas, my speed was approximately 25mph, an orange warning light on the dash was activated very briefly. Cars behind me had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me. Going from 25 mph to Zero, caused my neck to snap forward and back and forward again which was very painful. The mileage on my car was approximately 6,650. This exact problem first occurred on 2/6/21. Subsequently, I took the car to the dealershipd where they performed and scanned the vehicle and no codes or error messages were found. Ran air fuel system test etc. and they advised me that no system failure was detected. I reported the incident to NHTSA on approxamately 2/10/21. My Complaint Number for the 2/6/21 incident is 11395658.

  • 11/29/2024· UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I am experiencing severe paint peeling on my 2019 Honda Accord sport in areas that are not typically exposed to environmental wear and tear such as inside the trunk, under the hood and inside the door jams. This appears to be a defect in the paint or application process, as these areas should not be vulnerable to such deterioration under normal use . Despite bringing this issue to Honda’s attention they declined to guarantee the quality of a potential paint repair job. As a result, I had no choice but to repaint the car and my own expense to prevent further damage. I am filing this complaint in hopes that others that have experienced similar issues with their Honda vehicles will report them and that Nhtsa will investigate this apparent defect. This could help ensure that Honda takes accountability and provides assistance to affected owners in the future. This defect not only affects the aesthetics but could potentially lead to long-term issues with rust and corrosion in the areas where the paint is peeling . I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue to protect other consumers and encourage manufacturers to address and resolve such quality concerns.
