Subject: Potential Issue Related to Recall N202314870 for GMC Sierra 1500 Problem Description: I own a 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 (VIN# [XXX] ) and have identified a potential issue related to the drive shaft. Although my VIN does not appear in the official system as affected by recall N202314870, the vehicle exhibits the following symptoms: 1. Unusual and consistent vibrations in the drivetrain while the vehicle is in motion. 2. Noises coming from both the front and rear differentials. 3. Concern regarding the integrity of the drive shaft, as these issues align with the details described in the recall. Given that this issue potentially affects the safety of the vehicle, I kindly request a review to determine if my unit should be included in recall N202314870 or any other related campaign. I appreciate your consideration of these symptoms for a proper evaluation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have a 2019 gmc sierra 1500 elevation. The dash indicated low oil with 60lbs of oil pressure. I stop park my vehicle and see there is a puddle of oil underneath my truck. It appears to be leaking (extremely high flow rate) from the oil cooler lines where the rubber has given way from the metal crimping. Apparently after calling the dealership and reading online there isn't any type of recal for this issue even tho there is a Customer Satisfaction Program N212326940 implemented for Alaska and Canada due to the cold weather climate causing the failure. I live in western Pennsylvania and currently had a cold snap of 11°F. The dealership wants me to pay out of pocket and take my vehicle in to get diagnosed for service , which also means paying to have it towed to the dealership since it is un-drivable . Then pay for the very obvious service and file to see if I can be potentially reimbursed. This vehicle has less than 70,000 miles on it and is outside of the warranty. However this is a reported common issue online and even through the service department in Zelienople Pennsylvania because the tech. Told me they have the parts in stock because they do alot of them when I was inquiring into the issue.

BRAND NEW TRUCK, AT4, 15K MILES, 5 MONTHS OLD. WAS VERY COLD TODAY OUTSIDE, WAS IN A STORE AND STARTED VEHICLE REMOTELY. CAME OUTSIDE TO A RUNNING VEHICLE, SAT IN DRIVERS SEAT AND PRESSED START BUTTON. NOTICED MULTIPLE WARNING SOUNDS/LIGHTS, DASH READ "BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE 62MPH TOP SPEED", SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM", STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED DRIVE WITH CARE" SERVICE ESC". THE ABS, CHECK ENGINE, BRAKE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS WERE ALSO ILLUMINATED. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY LOCAL GMC DEALER (WHO IS 5 MILES AWAY) AND READ THEM ALL THE MESSAGES AND ASKED IF THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE TO THEIR LOCATION. AFTER A BRIEF HOLD, THE SERVICE TECH STATED THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE OVER. I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE OUT ONTO RT6. WHILE STILL IN THE PARKING LOT, TRAVELING APPROX 10-15MPH I WAS BARELY ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IT TOOK MY FULL POWER ON THE PEDDLE TO STOP, AND APPROXIMATE 20-30 FEET OF DISTANCE BEFORE IT STOPPED FULLY. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE SERVICE TECH BACK AND INFORMED HER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WITH 5% OR SO BREAK CAPACITY. SHE PROVIDED THE GM NUMBER FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO THEIR SHOP A SHORT TIME AGO AND I AM AWAITING THEIR FEEDBACK. ON A SIDE NOTE, I WAITED IN THE TRUCK AS I DID NOT WANT TO SHUT IT DOWN, I WANTED THE SERVICE TECH TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT WAS ON THE SCREEN. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINS, WITH ME IN THE DRIVERS SEAT WITH THE KEYS, THE TRUCK SHUT ITSELF OFF. WHEN IT RESTARTED THE MESSAGES WERE GONE, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED. LUCKILY I TOOK PHOTOS AND VIDEO RECORDED THIS ISSUE PRIOR TO. THE LOSS OF BRAKES FOR ANY ISSUE SHOULD BE TREATED WITH THE UTTERMOST CARE FOR SAFETY OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THIS SEEMLY KNOWN ISSUE WILL (IF NOT ALREADY) RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH IF NOT CORRECTED QUICKLY.

BRAND NEW 2019 GMC SIERRA AT4, JUST UNDER 14K MILES. UPON STARTING THE TRUCK, THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS CAME ON. "BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE 62MPH TOP SPEED", SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM", STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED DRIVE WITH CARE" SERVICE ESC" CHECK ENGINE" I TURNED THE TRICK OFF, OPENED AND CLOSED MY DOOR, THEN RESTARTED. UPON RESTART, EVERYTHING WAS GONE, NO WARNINGS. APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES LATER I WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (70MPH) WHEN ALL THE MESSAGES RETURNED. I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE, PEDAL WENT NEARLY TO THE FLOOR. I ONLY SURVIVED THE INCIDENT BY SHIFTING INTO MANUAL, DOWNSHIFTING TO ENGINE BRAKE, AND STANDING ON THE WHAT I'M GUESSING WAS 5 OR 10 PERCENT BRAKE PEDAL. LUCKILY THERE WAS AN EMPTY LANE FOR ME TO DO THIS IN.

The rear window on the 2019 GMC Sierra SLT leaks water into the cab. This presents a serious concern to the owner of the vehicle because unless you are specifically looking for the leak you may not even know there is one. Upon noticing the leak, one can witness a steady drip of water behind the rear seat, drivers side. My personal concern is that what happens after the water has leaked and had gone unnoticed for an extended period of time, does mold start to grow? Does my truck have mold growing in it? With two young children in the vehicle I am concerned about their health and safety. My frustration with this issue is that GM refuses to acknowledge that there is an issue. My dealer has brought this issue up with GM but the claim has been denied. I have no idea how long the leak has been happening but it’s a manufacturing problem that exists and it certainly shouldn't be the owners responsibility to fix the problem. More importantly, it shouldn't be my young childrens health that is affected by the manufacturers incompetency and ignorance.

RANDOM INTERMITTENT VEHICLE BRAKE FAILURE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED RANDOM BRAKE FAILURE FOR 45 MINUTES AT A TIME ON MY SIERRA. NO CODES OR WARNINGS ARE SHOWN WHEN IT HAPPENS. OCCURS WHILE DRIVING, AND RANDOM. CONDITION CREATES AN EXTREMELY HARD PEDDLE WITH EXTREMELY REDUCED BRAKING POWER. SAFE STOPPING DISTANCE IS INCREASED AT LEAST 3 FOLD. VEHICLE BRAKES WILL START WORKING AGAIN IF TRUCK IS LEFT PARKED AND IGNITION OFF AFTER 30 MINUTES. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK INTO THE SERVICING DEALER, THEY DROVE IT 30 MILES AND A WEEK LATER, GM INSTRUCTED ME TO PICK MY TRUCK BACK UP AFTER NO REPAIRS DO TO THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. I EXPRESSED EXTREME CONCERN ABOUT SAFETY, AND GM STANCE IS, "NO CODES NO PROBLEM". I WAS INSTRUCTED BY GM TO SIMPLY BRING IT BACK IN WHEN MY BRAKES FAIL AGAIN. 2 WEEKS LATER, MY BRAKES FAILED AGAIN, CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. ONCE AGAIN, THE TRUCK CORRECTED ITSELF AFTER SITTING WITH THE IGNITION OFF FOR 30 MINUTES. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER, AND THEY DROVE IT AND "COULD NOT DUPLICATE CUSTOMER CONCERN" ONCE AGAIN. ONCE AGAIN I WAS INSTRUCTED TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK IN WHEN THE BRAKES FAIL DURING THEIR OPEN BUSINESS HOURS SO THAT THEY CAN SEE IT FOR THEMSELVES. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION, AND THIS TRUCK SHOULD BE OFF THE ROAD AND CONCERNING TO GM, BUT IT IS NOT. THROUGH RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME TRUCK YEAR AND MODEL WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS, AND GM IS NEGLIGENT TOWARDS OUR SAFETY AND THE INNOCENT PEOPLE ON THE ROAD. THIS NEW "E-BOOST" BRAKING SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE MY FAMILY OR OTHERS ARE KILLED OR INJURED BY THIS DEFECTIVE SYSTEM. BRAKE FAILURE OCCURRED BOTH TIMES WHEN ATTEMPTING SLOWING DOWN FOR CURVES AND STOPPED TRAFFIC AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND PERSISTED AT ALL CONDITIONS UNTIL IT RESET ITSELF AFTER SITTING OFF FOR 30 MINUTES.
- 12/11/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The rear window defogger is smoking and sizzling. The connection on the passenger side glass that connects the moveable harness for the center glass smokes and sizzles when the rear defogger is on. There is a recall on these vehicles in Canada for this issue. My concern is that it may start a fire. The connector is right behind the right rear passenger seat, imposing a threat to the occupant of that seat. Also, the rear defogger comes on automatically with heated mirrors when remote started. I cannot use remote start, mirror defogger, or rear glass defogger currently due to this defect. I noticed a sizzling sound while driving the truck. I pulled over and began searching. I found smoke being emitted from the connector attached to the rear glass on the passenger side. This is a serious issue. It is a fire hazard. The vehicle could catch fire while driving or while remote engine start has been activated in temperatures lower than 40 degrees. There is a difference in an uncommon electrical short and a known problem. General Motors is aware of this issue and there has not be a notification to owners in the United States nor are there any recalls or suggested repairs. The safety of consumers is in jeopardy with this known problem occurring in multiple lines of their vehicles. Any with a power sliding glass could be affected.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE 21OCT2020 IT STARTED WHINING AND JERKING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED THEY COULDN'T SEE US, SO WE TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT GMC DEALERSHIP THAT SAID THE CODES HAD NOT BEEN UPDATED, THEY PREFORMED THE RECALL AND SAID IT SHOULD BE FINE. TWO DAYS LATER IT STARTED JERKING AGAIN AND SHUT OFF WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE GMC DEALERSHIP WE BOUGHT IT FROM ON THE 28OCT2020 AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRUCK WAS FINE, AND THAT THE DIAGNOSTICS SHOWED NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. THE TECH SAID HE WOULD DRIVE IT OUT OF THE BAY, IF BRITTANY WOULD OPEN THE DOOR AND BEFORE HE COULD DRIVE IT THROUGH THE GARAGE BAY AREA AND OUT THE GARAGE BAY DOOR THE TRUCK MADE A CRAZY LOUD NOISE, JERK TO A SUDDEN STOP AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT RESTART AT ALL AND HAD TO BE TOWED OUT OF THE BAY DOOR. THE 2019 TRUCK HAS HAD 5 RECALLS FOR SAFETY ISSUES AND WITH 40,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WENT ALL THE WAY OUT AND THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING THERE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER A MONTH WAITING ON THE NEW TRANSMISSION TO COME FROM GMC. I GO IN AND SEE THE TRANSMISSION RECALL ON SO MANY 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION WHICH THIS TRUCK HAS, AND NOW I FEEL LIKE I WAS SOLD A LEMON AND NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE. % RECALLS AND THE TRANSMISSION GOES OUT COMPLETELY AT 40,000 MILES. I AM SO UPSET ABOUT IT THAT I DO NOT EVEN WANT THE TRUCK ANYMORE. IT IS GOING TO RUIN MY RESALE VALUE AND THE LEMON LAW SHOULD APPLY ON A TRUCK ONE YEAR OLD. I HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS WITH THE DEALERSHIP, AND NOW ON THEIR FRONT DOOR IS A SIGN THAT SAYS THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY POLICIES ON ANY VEHICLE THEY SOLD AFTER NOVEMBER 15, 2020. OF COURSE THEY SOLD ME ZURICH EXTENDED WARRANTY TOO, AND I CAN PROMISE I WILL NEVER BUY GMC AGAIN. I ALSO HAVE A 2017 PATHFINDER ALMOST PAID OFF, THAT I AM GIVING TO MY DAUGHTER, AND I WAS GOING TO GET AN GMC ARCADIA BUT NOT A CHANCE NOW.

I was on the highway going 60mph and the engine light came on and it said “low oil pressure, turn off engine”. I could not safely pull over and had to drive a half mile to do so. The vehicle was towed to the service station near my house that I’ve used before and the problem was a blown high pressure oil line. Technician said that the hose came undone at the crimp joint and that he’s recently seen other Sierras with the same problem. I checked my GMC app and there were no recalls so I authorized the repair and paid the $919 bill. A few days later I did a google search for 2019 GMC Sierra oil line problems and got several hits from the GMauthority.com site. It’s a known problem in Canada and Alaska (cold weather) and GMC will repair it at no charge if the vehicle was bought there and the repair is done by a GMC repair facility but they won’t reimburse me because I bought mine in MA. It was 24 degrees the day the line blew. The problem is that the part is faulty and fails at cold temperatures. There should be a recall on the high pressure oil lines for all vehicles sold in cold weather states.

The truck has 50,000 miles, purchased new. I don't tow or go off road. I take it to the dealer every 5,000 miles. While driving 65-70mph on the interstate (4-lanes), my dash lit up with five messages and the "Brake, Traction Control and Engine" lights illuminated. I applied brakes but the pedal went to the floor and the steering veered to the left causing me to move out of my lane. The truck then went to limp mode and I was unable to go above 43mph the remainder of the trip home. After taking it to my dealer the next day, I was told they "found air in the brake fluid system due to secondary seal failure in brake master cylinder, and was quoted a new cylinder (PN 86788482) for $1708.06. RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS: >Component failure: brake master cylinder (eBoost Brake Unit Assembly) / Brake System Failure >It was just me in the vehicle - brake failure on the highway put me and others on the road at major risk >Yes - After paying to diagnose, I was told this was brake master cylinder failure. ...GM issued a Customer Satisfaction Program (N202324120) for a limited number of MY2021 Silverado/Sierra trucks (mine is a MY2019) for dealers to replace the eBoost brake unit assemblies due to failure >Part has not been inspected by my insurance rep./I do not know if anyone else has inspected >The warnings illuminated on the dash at the time of brake failure while on the interstate 1. At around 28,000 miles the truck started having intermittent electrical issues. The head unit will show a blue screen. Safty systems will automatically disable. Camera system failures. Even though the truck is a 2019 model it only has around 31,000 miles on it and is now out of warranty and I can’t afford to have the dealership chase electric issues. GMC should be ashamed of putting out such an unreliable vehicle.
- 11/27/2019· EXTERIOR LIGHTING
PUTTING VEHICLE IN REVERSE TURNS THE INTERIOR DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS (REVERSE CAMERA) ON AS BRIGHT AS IT GOES, LIKE A FLASHBULB GOING OFF RIGHT IN YOUR FACE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT AND LEAVES TEMPORARY BLINDNESS WHICH AFFECTS THE ABILITY TO SEE OUT INTO THE DARKNESS AFTERWARDS. THERE IS NO ABILITY TO ADJUST THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE INTERIOR DISPLAY. I CAN EVEN TURN THE DISPLAY OFF AND SHIFTING INTO REVERSE TURNS THE CAMERA BACK ON WITH MAXIMUM BRIGHTNESS.

Issue 1: Driver side front seat airbag connector separated disabling the airbag. (repaired at my cost) Issue 2: Transmission (10 speed auto) developed stutter and skip consistent with complaints resulting in recall of 2020 (next model year truck) due to risk of rear wheel lock up. GM needs to include the 2019 models that were built as 2019 (as 2020) in one of the plants while they continued to build the 2018 as 2018 "classics" during the changeover. My cost to repair will be $3600 and there is not guarantee that the new valve body is any better or if GM is simply giving me another 46k miles to wait for another failure.

While driving on a two lane road I proceeded to pass a slow moving vehicle, after accelerating from 45 MPH to 60 MPH my Check Engine light, Service Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Service Electronic Brake System lights illuminated on my display. My RPMs increased before shifting gears and I noticed a significant loss in power. Thankfully there was not an accident when the incident occurred; however, if an oncoming vehicle or bad weather it could have been a different outcome. I took my vehicle to a GMC dealer to diagnose the issue where I found out my lifters for my valves are bad and my fourth cylinder is inoperable along with a bad CAM. A new vehicle at 65K miles on it should not be having mechanical issues that can pose a danger while driving, putting others and my safety at risk. GM needs to reevaluate the products and materials their using to build engines to ensure there are no flaws starting with the valve lifters.

My end of year 2019 produced GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 V8, 4WD X31 4 door truck had a serious malfunction that could have caused great harm. I was driving down my driveway at approximately 20 mph when the truck's rear wheels locked up, stopping the truck instantly, sending me into the steering wheel narrowly missing the windshield with my face. After a moment, I attempted to drive again to move the truck out of the travel path. When I did, the truck back wheels completely locked up again (when I reached 6mph). I had the truck towed to my local shop and was told that it was the transmission locking up making the wheels lock up. The part (transmission) that was ordered for repair was on national backorder and took over two months to get my truck repaired and functional again. I was fortunate to have a warranty (now expired) and pay a percentage of the repair fee, however, the total repair fee was near 12,000. This was paid for by myself and my warranty company. Considering the part was on national backorder, I know that these types of problems are occurring with many of these trucks. I learned of the recall for this same problem that my truck had and checked the recall for my vin. To my complete surprise, my truck was not listed as being recalled, even though the EXACT same problem occurred with my truck. I would like to get the cost of the repairs refunded considering it took GM so long to recall the problem leaving me to pay for their errors. This is not a cheap automobile and was expected to be built well. I am very fortunate that I was not on a major highway or traveling at a high rate of speed when this happened. It was a very scary ordeal being propelled into the windshield of your vehicle when driving due to abrupt, extremely unusual 100% mechanical failure of no fault of your own. This recall should be expanded to include ALL vehicles that have the faulty transmission, including mine. Repair receipts can be provided. I appreciate your time and consideration.

When the transmission downshifts the rear wheels lock up and the truck skids out of control. I have to be very careful with gas pedal pressure to not allow the transmission to downshift by 2 or more gears. This is virtually impossible in mountain terrain, where I visit routinely.

THE BACKUP CAMERA ON THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM IS BLINDINGLY BRIGHT AT NIGHT. WHEN YOU PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE THE BACKUP CAMERA POPS UP ON THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN AND BLINDS YOU MAKING IT A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AS YOU CANNOT SEE ANYTHING OUT YOUR MIRRORS. THIS NEEDS CORRECTED SO THERE IS A BRIGHTNESS CONTROL TO ALLOW THE SCREEN TO BE DIMMED SO THAT YOU CAN SEE WHEN BACKING UP.

I put my truck in break. Service mode to replace the brake pads. I began changing the pads And could not get the piston to retract all the way, I hooked uon a c clamp to retract the piston. In the event i moved the rotor to another spot and the brake service mode turned off and the piston extended. My fingers nearly got caught in the caliper. When put in brake service mode, it should not automatically extend when turning the rotor. Someone will get hurt bad at some point in a swrvice garage or at home when wirking on brakes.

Rear window is leaking water inside cab and may cause mold
- 11/13/2023· UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The frame of the rear window cracked which allowed water to enter the cab. Water made its way onto the rear anchor strap of a car seat and saturated it which could have caused it to possibly not perform properly, which could have injured a child. Since the rear window can be opened electrically it is possible that a short could occur due to the water intrusion. GM has a service bulletin out about resealing the window but will not cover the repair or replacement of the window if it is outside the 36,000 mile warranty period. Obviously this is a manufacturer defect that has numerous occurrences or there would not be a bulletin created for it.
