General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks. The battery positive (B+) cable rings may have been manufactured with excessive glue, potentially causing an intermittent electrical connection between the B+ cable and alternator.
Risk: An intermittent electrical connection between the B+ battery cable and the alternator could cause the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. The intermittent connection could also lead to electrical arcing, which could generate sufficient heat to damage surrounding material, increasing the risk of a fire.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect for the presence of glue or other contamination at the B+ cable attachment to the alternator and clean the connection and reattach the B+ cable connection, as necessary. If arcing has damaged the cable, nut, or alternator, the dealer will replace the damaged components. All services will be performed free of charge. I am writing to formally express my frustration regarding the ongoing issues with my vehicle. The vehicle continues to overheat, the check engine light repeatedly comes on, and it has cut off unexpectedly. The tire air pressure sensors as well. These issues have persisted despite multiple repair attempts. I initially brought the vehicle to the dealership in December 2024, and again in March 2025 and now the vehicle is having the same issues to date December 2025. On both occasions, the vehicle remained at the dealership for over a month for repairs. Unfortunately, the problem has not been resolved. Each time I inquire, I am given different explanations as to why the issue cannot be fixed, which has been extremely frustrating and concerning. Additionally, I am being charged for services that I do not fully understand or agree with, especially given that the original problem still exists. Due to the lack of resolution, I have also contacted GMC directly to file a formal complaint. At this point, the ongoing delays, lack of clear communication, and unresolved mechanical issues are unacceptable. I requested a clear explanation of all charges, as well as a concrete plan outlining the steps needed to finally fix my vehicle. Please provide the appropriate point of contact and advise on how this issue will be resolved promptly. I expect immediate attention to this matter. Thank you.

AS I LEFT TO HEAD TO THE STORE THIS EVENING I IMMEDIATELY HAD 3 CODES COME UP ON MY DASH AFTER I TURNED THE IGNITION ON. (BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. 62MPH TOP SPEED. SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM. SERVICE ESC). I THOUGHT IT WAS A GLITCH SO I BACKED DOWN MY DRIVEWAY WITH RESISTANCE OF THE BRAKES. I HAD IT IN 4X4 DUE TO SNOW SO I ASSUMED ITS JUST FEELING ROUGH FROM THAT. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE DOWN THE STREET I LIVE ON TO A MAJOR ROAD AND WENT STRAIGHT INTO CROSS TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. I NEARLY DIED FROM A SNOW PLOW COMING. I PUMPED THE BRAKES ONCE I DIDN'T FEEL THEM WORKING AND IT FELT LIKE I WAS PUSHING ON A CEMENT BLOCK. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS I HAVE COME CLOSE TO DYING IN A RECALLED COBALT BEFORE BOW I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS TRUCK SINCE THERES NO ACTIVE RECALL-JUST LIKE THE COBALT!!! I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND MY AUTISTIC CHILD'S LIFE AS THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION TO OUR DOCTORS. THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND I CONTACTED MY FRIEND WHO WORKS IN SERVICE TO ALSO DOCCUMENT WITH HIM WHEN IT OCCURRED.

My truck is at Hubler Cevrolet in Greenwood, IN with engine oil cooler lines leaking at 40,000 miles. GM Customer satisfaction program for some vin numbers expired in 2023 (N212326940). My vin was identified as being ineligible. Upon my own further research these trucks are known to have issues with leaking or rupturing oil cooler lines leading to catastrophic engine failure. I suspect that the manufacturer of the previously covered lines is the same although the part application number may be different. The manufacturer produced a defective oil cooler line that is previously know to fail especially in cold climates. I am Indianapolis, IN where temperatures have been below 0 at times and is frequently below freezing during winter. My lines starting leaking after the first freeze, about 4 weeks ago. I closely monitored the oil level until I was able to take it to the dealer for further inspection, it always remained above half on the dipstick. I wrongly assumed that the leak was from an overtightened oil drain screw from the previous oil change. I had my oil changed at XpressPro a few days before I took my truck to the dealer because their technician identified the leak was from the oil cooler lines. The tech at Xpresspro showed me a video he took on his personal cell phone showing the oil covering the engine oil cooler lines. The dealer is quoting 1400 for the repairs and they are not covered by powertrain warranty even though the engine would seize if they ruptured while driving. I reached out to GM customer service and spoke with Kaylee she advised me to contact Hubler to inquire about cost assistance and use my case number she gave for reference (XXX). I beleive this should be covered by a recall as it could have ruptured while driving causing the engine to lock and stop all forward momentum. 2019 Chevy Silverado RST turbo. 46K miles. Truck would feel like it skipped a gear a few times for a few months; I chalked it up to needing a new air filter. Had that and the oil changed. Ran normal for about 3 weeks. Check engine light came on and began flashing, service esc and service parking brake lights came on. Truck would vibrate while at an idle. Truck would not get up and go and when it go to 30mph, it would violently shake and stutter. Changed the 4 spark plugs, with number 4 being the worst, then 1, then 2 and 3. Mind you, the truck only has 46K miles. Got them replaced, removed the negative battery terminal to reset the codes and now the heat isn't working.

1st Time I was idling for 30+ minutes, truck was also making strange knocking noises, pulled on to a major highway and rear end locked up, cars were slamming on brakes, almost got killed. Took to shop left for 2 weeks, they said they could find no issues. I assumed they fixed problem, because there was no knocking any more. 3 weeks later, was idling for about 45minutes, pulled into traffic, dark, raining, rear en locked up. Almost got killed a second time. Took in for service and left truck. This needs to be investigated before someone gets killed!

I BOUGHT A 2019 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500HD USED AND EVERY SINCE I'VE HAD IT, IT HAS A VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I'VE HAD IT BACK TO CHENOWETH FORD WHERE I BOUGHT IT TWICE NOW AND THEY SENT ME TO HARRY GREEN CHEVROLET DEALER AND NO ONE HAS A CLUE WHAT IS CAUSING IT. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE AND HAVE FOUND ALOT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE THAT THEY ARE CALLING THE "CHEVY SHAKE" WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2014 THROUGH 2020. I EVEN FOUND A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THIS ISSUE. THE TRUCK HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT AND I WOULD SAY THIS IS THE REASON THE PREVIOUS OWNER TRADED IT OFF. I WAS GIVEN A RENTAL CAR ONCE WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR BECAUSE THEY HAD IT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. WHICH WHEN I PICKED IT UP THEY SAID THAT THE VIBRATION WAS 90 PERCENT GONE BUT THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO GO AWAY COMPLETELY AND THAT THEY HAD 3 DIFFERENT MECHANICS WORKING ON IT.

Component or system failure: The engine valvetrain (camshaft and lifters) sustained severe internal damage, including camshaft scouring, confirmed during inspection and teardown by an authorized Chevrolet dealership. In addition, the rear differential was found to contain no gear oil when the fill plug was removed during inspection. The vehicle and components are currently at a Chevrolet service center and are available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The vehicle experienced persistent drivetrain vibration and abnormal operation that worsened over time and ultimately rendered the vehicle non-operable. Internal engine damage and a rear differential without lubrication present a risk of sudden drivetrain failure, loss of propulsion, or loss of vehicle control, particularly at highway speeds. The vehicle is currently unsafe to operate. Problem confirmed: Yes. Engine damage has been confirmed by the dealership during teardown. The absence of gear oil in the rear differential was directly observed during inspection. Inspections by others: Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership and by third-party inspectors associated with the extended drivetrain warranty administrator. Two inspections have been completed, and a third inspection has been ordered. No repairs have been completed as of this report. Warning lamps or prior symptoms: Beginning around approximately 21,000 miles (2022), the vehicle developed drivetrain vibration. The vehicle was taken to a Chevrolet dealership at that time, but the cause was not identified or corrected. No warning lamps or messages are recalled.

EVERY TIME I HAD TO STOP I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TWICE AND ON THE SECOND TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED I WOULD GAIN APPROXIMATELY 50% BRAKING POWER. TRUCK HAS ALREADY HAD ALL RECALLS PERFORMED AND SPECIFICALLY, THE RECALLS RELATED TO "FIXING" THIS EXACT ISSUE. DEALER PUT THE TRUCK ON THE COMPUTER AND EXPLAINED ONLY A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD BEEN ACTIVATED DUE TO THE BRAKE SYSTEM BUT COULDN'T SAY WHAT HAPPENED. DEALER ATTEMPTED TO HAVE ME DRIVE THE TRUCK HOME, 40 MILES ON THE FREEWAY, AND BRING BACK IN 3 DAYS FOR AN APPOINTMENT. FEELING THIS WAS AN UNSAFE OPTION I REQUESTED THEY KEEP THE TRUCK UNTIL IT COULD BE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED AND TO PUT ME IN A LOANER OR PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION WHICH THEY DID.

When I shift the vehicle to “Park” and shut off the engine, a “Shift to Park” message comes on the dash and the electric components won’t turn off and the vehicle chimes until it will randomly stop. Sometimes it does not stop and will drain the battery completely. This happened once at a wedding venue in the middle of nowhere and I was left stranded. No matter how many times I restart the vehicle and shift to different gears, the message continuously comes up and only way to avoid battery draining is to disconnect it, which is a major inconvenience.

WEIRD BRAKE AND STEERING FEEL WHILE DRIVING. SPEED DID NOT EXCEED 35 MPH IN NEIGHBORHOOD DRIVING. DIC READ: BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE MAX SPEED 62 MPH SERVICE ESC TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD TO PUSH AND UNRESPONSIVE AT TIMES. FELT LIKE WE WERE DRAGGING THE BACK END AT TIMES. STEERING WAS INCONSISTENT. PARKING BRAKE WAS OFF. STOPPED AND STARTED 3 TIMES, RESET THE VEHICLE A FEW TIMES. PRIOR TO A BIG DOWNHILL, THE LAST RESTART CLEARED THE ISSUE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. DROVE HOME AND PARKED. TO BE HONEST, FELT UNSAFE TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY WITH MY SON AND WIFE IN THE CAR. LUCKILY WE ONLY HAD A SHORT 3 MILES HOME. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ONSTAR REPORT RECEIVED IN EMAIL

REPEATED ATTEMPTS BY JONES CHEVY, SUMTER SC, THEY HAVE NOT IDENTIFIED THE VIBRATION PROBLEMS WITH MY NEW VEHICLE. 22+ DAYS IN REPAIR, MULTIPLE VISITS, AND GM CLASSIFIES HARSH VIBRATION AS "NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC" AND CLOSED THE CASE, SAYING ITS FINAL. I HAVE CONTACTED GM CEO WITH CERTIFIED LETTER, DISCUSSED WITH EXEC. CUSTOMER SUPPORT TEAM, AND POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA TO FIND ANY SOLUTION. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORSE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. SO FAR DEALER HAS CONDUCTED TRANSMISSION DRAIN AND FLUSH PER A TSB, CHANGED TORQUE CONVERTER, EVALUATED VIBRATION WITH PICO SCOPE, AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND PERSIST. NOW TODAY IT'S BACK AT DEALER FOR A PROP SHAFT SWAP, FROM A NEW TRUCK. MY VEHICLE NOW HAS 6K MILES, AND PROBLEM STARTED AT 5K AFTER THE DRAIN AND FLUSH. GM SAYS THE VIBRATION IS NORMAL BECAUSE OF THE DFM, DYNAMIC FUEL MGMT. SYSTEM. I SAY BS. THEY ARE WRONG, AND NO VEHICLE SHOULD VIBRATE AT LOW OR HIGH SPEED TO THE POINT YOU FEEL IT THROUGH THE SEAT, STEERING COLUMN, STEERING WHEEL AND HARMONIC DISTORTION IN THE CAB. GM KNOWS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, THEY JUST DON'T WANT TO ADMIT. NEXT STEP, ARBRITRATION? ANY FEEDBACK IS MUCH APPRECIATED TO SOLVE THIS VIBRATION ISSUE. GM - DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. REMEMBER THE IGNITION PROBLEM? THIS PROBLEM ISN'T GOING AWAY.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 45-50 MPH, the oil pressure gauge suddenly dropped to zero(0), and a message stating that the oil pressure was low and to turn off the vehicle was displayed. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. Upon inspecting underneath the front end of the vehicle, the contact noticed that oil had sprayed underneath the engine compartment, onto the axle, and the front driver's side tire. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a claim was filed with the dealer. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance in adding the VIN to GM Customer Satisfaction Program Number: N212326940 (Engine Oil Cooler Lines Detaching from Crimp), which the contact related to the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

WHILE REVERSING ON OUR DRIVEWAY THE TRUCK LOST ABOUT 90% OF ITS ABILITY TO BRAKE. THE PEDALS WERE PRESSED HARD AND ALL THE WAY DOWN UNTIL IT SLOWLY CAME TO A STOP. WE TURNED OFF THE TRUCK AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. TOOK IT IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY WERE VERY DISMISSIVE SAYING NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. AT THE DEALERSHIP WE DROVE IT AGAIN AND THE BRAKES WERE WORKING NORMALLY. LEFT THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP EVEN THOUGH THEY DIDN'T WANT TO CHECK IT. THE TRUCK ALSO HAD TWO RECALLS THAT NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED. ACCORDING TO THE DOCUMENTATION THEY CHECKED THE BRAKES AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. MY MAJOR CONCERN IS WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY OR STREET? MY FAMILIES SAFETY IS NOTHING TO BE DISMISSIVE ABOUT.

BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM. SERVICE ESC. TURNED THE TRUCK OFF THEN BACK ON. NO CHANGE SAME CODES. PROCEEDED TO GET THE TRUCK BACK HOME WHEN I NOTICED I HAD ALMOST NO BRAKES. NEXT MORNING AFTER STARTING THE TRUCK I DIDN'T HAVE ANY CODE MESSAGES BUT DID HAVE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT. TRUCK DROVE AND STOPPED AS IT NORMALLY DID.

I WAS DRIVING UP A HILL AT APPROX. 5 MILES AN HOUR, WITH COWORKER IN VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION COULD NOT FIND A GEAR AND THE VEHICLE LOST MOMENTUM AND ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN THE HILL. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BREAKS BEFORE I HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. WE WERE AT KAISER HOSPITAL ASSISTING WITH THE COOLING TOWERS OF THE HOSPITAL. I HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN ON, AND SLOW MAKE MY WAY TO THE PARKING AREA. MY COWORKER WAS EXTREMELY WORRIED AND FELT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE, AS DID I. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.

In November of 2021, There was a water leak found inside the truck, on the passenger side rear cab. Chevy repaired in accordance with GM bulletin # 18-na-383. After six month, leak came back. They replaced the rear window, in accordance with GM bulletin # 18-na-383. All work was done under warranty. Now after a month since last repair, the leak is back and worse then it was. Returned to Chevy dealer and they want to replace both parts again. This time not under warranty. Further research of the internet, yielded thousands of people over many years having the same issue.

While operating my vehicle at normal capacity the engine lost power and jolted very hard and the vehicle began shaking. I heard knocking noises coming from within the engine. The truck only has 68k highway miles on it with regular maintenance done by the dealer. My 2010 version of this truck lasted longer than this one. Gm is telling me I need a $7800.00 dollar repair that I am on the arm for. There was nothing out of the ordinary that could have caused this. I am aware of others having the same problem. It would not be safe if I was traveling faster.

THE 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION SOMETIMES GETS HUNG IN BETWEEN GEARS OR SHIFTS VERY HARD AFTER IT INTERMITTENTLY COMES OUT OF GEAR. THIS WEEK, I WENT TO CROSS A ROAD ON DRY ROAD CONDITIONS AND THE VEHICLE CAME OUT OF GEAR, THE ENGINE REVVED AND I WAS WITHOUT A GEAR FOR 2-3 SECONDS, CAUSING THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO BE UNCOMFORTABLY CLOSE BY THE TIME I REGAINED POWER AND WAS ABLE TO CROSS THE ROAD. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER TIMES THAT I HAVE BEEN AT A STOP SIGN AND I GO TO TAKE OFF AND THE ENGINE REVS UP AS I HIT THE GAS BUT IT IS NOT IN GEAR AND THEN ABRUPTLY SNAPS INTO GEAR, CAUSING THE TIRES TO ACTUALLY SQUEAL. SO THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE TRUCK IS STILL MOVING AND ALSO WHEN IT WAS AT A STOP SIGN AND NOT IN MOTION,
