While driving my 2019 Audi A6 Premium Plus I received error messages: "electrical system malfunction contact service", then "start stop system malfunction contact service", then "electrical system malfunction stop vehicle safely". I went on an Audi owner internet forum and read about others with the same errors. Reports from others indicated that in about 40 miles from the first message appearing, all systems will completely shut down including the engine while you are driving. This could leave you stranded in the roadway if you are not able to pull over in time and requires a tow; the vehicle cannot be relied upon to get you to a service center at that point. My vehicle was in a parking lot at the time for a few hours. I was able to start the vehicle. It presented the first two messages immediately. I was able to drive another 10 minutes to arrive at home safely. On my way home the check engine light came on and as I got to my driveway "electrical system malfunction stop vehicle safely" appeared again. Two days have passed (where I did not operating the vehicle anymore) and I've now had the vehicle towed to my Audi dealer / service center. My service advisor called me back this afternoon saying that they confirmed starter / generator / alternator needs to be replaced. The alternator (only) is now on order for me with no ETA. He said the last one they fixed with this issue took 42 days. He said he has 6 vehicles on the lot with the same issue. This issue appears to be popping up for all early builds that has the Audi 48v MHEV (mild hybrid battery system). Other owners report they needed their 48v and sometimes 12v batteries replaced. As I mentioned earlier they only ordered the alternator at this point; I'm worried that my batteries cannot be trusted after this issue as apparently the cells in the 48v become unstable after entering this state.

The car gave me a written error message on the dashboard that there was an electrical system malfunction. I thought to myself, "Gotta get that checked out. Let's see if it goes away." I drove a short distance home and parked. The next day I began to drive to work. I got the electrical system malfunction message again. I decided to pull into a parking lot and make an appointment to get it fixed by the dealer. Then, I began to drive back home (didn't want to risk driving to work). The car then gave me a new message that the electrical system was not working and to pull over safely. I drove for 30 or so more seconds as all the systems began to shut down. The car completely stopped within a minute or 2 of the error message, stranding me in the middle of the road. It was impossible to shift it into neutral to safely move it. If I had been driving on the highway, it would have been REALLY bad! There was almost no time to get the car to a safe spot and no chance to put it into neutral to move it. The car has since been diagnosed with a faulty generator that needs to be replaced.

A yellow warning light went on stating"electrical system malfunction" start/stop is not working. Within 5 miles a red warning light went on that stated pull over when safe then within 100 yds multiple warnings went off and i lost power steering, power brakes etc. I was able to get stopped but the car would not start nor was I able to even put it in neutral to have it towed. I researched the issue and it seems to be a well known issue with the alternator. There has been several state lawsuits in regards to the issue. But no recalls or information sent to owners.

The rear electronic child safety lock on my 2019 Audi A6 does not function as intended. When activated, the lock does not reliably engage or disengage, allowing the rear door to be opened from the inside when it should be locked. We only began using the child safety lock after having a baby, at which time the malfunction was discovered. This creates a potential child safety risk, as the rear door may be opened from the inside when the child safety lock is expected to prevent this. The vehicle has not been modified, and the issue occurs under normal operating conditions. The dealer inspected the vehicle and advised that the repair would require replacement of the rear door latch/actuator but declined coverage due to the vehicle being out of warranty.

The backup camera intermittently does not engage, instead only displaying the stock car silhouette, without any camera footage of the current surroundings. This prevents the driver from being able to see anything behind the car and presents a safety hazard when backing up. It presents an additional distraction hazard because it requires the driver to either manually engage the camera using the vehicle's MMI, or to put the car in another gear and then again in reverse to engage the camera. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to have the dealership find and fix the problem over three years, I was told a software update was performed, which is the same fix for a current recall for other models with the same problem. I have only had the car back from the dealership for a week now, but I have not yet experienced the problem with the backup camera.

Warning appeared for electrical malfunction contact dealer. Within 15 minutes of driving to the dealer, electrical failure please pull over appeared. My antilock breaks, transmission, and finally the entire electric panel failed. The car entirely stopped while in traffic. I was unable to even turn on hazard lights. It would not turn back on. It required towing to audi dealership. I have been told by Audi the starter generator died.

The electrical system malfunctioned driving on the busy 422 expressway. Going at 55mph. Car dash lights up warning signs like electrical system failure, transmission, brake, power steering failure and the car shuts down in the middle of the road. Steered it to the side of road. Car would not start. Had to get it towed to dealer, Car has 33000 miles. The dealer has confirmed the failure. The component has been inspected by the dealer. Could have had a serious life threatening accident posing death or injuries to self and others.
- 12/13/2023· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
Electrical fault dash warnings (steering, transmission, braking and many other things too numerous to mention came on while driving the car and it went into limp mode and forced the car to stop and would not restart. The car had to be towed to the dealership where they diagnosed the problem to be the "alternator" which is more accurately what is known as the "belt starter generator" BSG. The BSG runs the start stop feature of the car and charges the mild hybrid 48v battery system that runs many of the critical features of the vehicle. They do not have the part in stock and do not know how long it will take to get in. I understand that there is NOT an upgraded part available that will fix this issue, only the same part that they are continuing to put on all of the V6 engine models since 2019 to today. The A6,7 and A8 and Q5,7 and Q8 models in particular are being affected. This is an extremely dangerous problem that has not been remedied by Audi/VW to this point and the NHTSA should issue a recall.

Starter/Generator Alternator failed and caused the battery to die ultimately leading to losing full power of the car on highway. Warning lamps were present and indicated "electrical system malfunction and contact the dealer for service." Car lost full power on the way to dealership and almost resulted in a crash. Component has been inspected by the Audi Dealer and confirmed to be the issue. Symptoms appeared very quickly and within 30 minutes of the symptoms the car was inoperable.
- 12/10/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
A warning message appeared that there is an electrical system problem. I arranged to bring to dealer for service the next day. While driving to dealer, multiple malfunction messages appeared on dashboard. Eventually all displays went black and shortly thereafter the engine stopped. I rolled to a stop. Car was dead. Audi stated it needs a replacement starter/generator. Very dangerous as it happened to me on an interstate. My research shows that this is a not uncommon problem.
- 12/07/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
While driving on an interstate highway, an electrical fault warning appeared. 5 minutes later, a series of warnings appeared pertaining to a whole host of Audi systems, and I suddenly lost power to the car. I coasted off the highway to the shoulder, where the car died. I was told by the dealership that the issue is a generator, and that it's a common issue affecting A6s. It was truly disconcerting to lose power, without much warning, when driving.
- 12/06/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
The electrical system failed while driving at highway speeds on the interstate. Car lost power, all safety systems shutdown and I had to navigate the car while coasting off the road. Car would no longer start and left me stranded on the side of the interstate for 2hrs. I have since learned from the audi service department that the 48V generator had failed and caused this situation.
- 12/06/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
I was driving on the interstate when the vehicle gave a warning saying "electrical system malfunction, contact dealership". I went to the dealership as I was within a couple of miles and they said it could be many things and they would need to evaluate it the following week. I left with the car and attempted to drive it back the following week on the scheduled appointment. The vehicle did not make it back to the dealership. While driving on the interstate back to the dealership, a message saying, "Electrical system failure, safely exit roadway" came on. I was able to exit off the interstate immediately into a parking lot. While I was trying to exit, multiple warning lights came on saying the crash sensors were inoperable, transmission was inoperable, camera system was inoperable, and the car started shaking as if the engine was loose under the hood and it shut off and would not restart. This took less than about 90 seconds as I was at an exit and already in the right lane on the interstate. Audi Care came and towed the vehicle and the dealer says the alternator has gone bad and it is on backorder. This is exceptionally dangerous because if I were not at an exit and in heavy traffic, this could have happened while I was in the middle of the interstate and the vehicle lost all power. I've since read Audi forum and found this exact scenario has happened to many drivers who were not as lucky to be near an exit or under warranty. Audi should recall the vehicle because it puts the driver in a very dangerous situation. I was stuck in an empty parking lot for several hours waiting for a tow but I consider myself lucky after reading the experience of other drivers. My car has been in the shop for three weeks now and I'm not sure when they will have it fixed. My warranty expires in the next few months so I may end up having to pay for repairs later because my warranty expired while the car sits at the dealer and I won't be able to test if it has been resolved.

I was driving across the George Washington Bridge towards NJ and I received warning of electrical issue, then transmission warning and the car promptly shut down, leaving my wife me stranded in the right hand lane with no shoulder. Had to call 911 to get assistance. Once at the Audi dealership I was told it is an issue with the alternator/electrical system and the car is undriveable until repaired. Unfortuately the part is back ordered and the car has been at the dealer for over three weeks. According to the service team and driver forums this is a major issue with 2019 A6, A7 and they are failing at an alarming rate. Not sure when I will receive the car back and they are not providing any loaners or rentals. This repair will cost 4,000, luckily mine is under warranty.

While out of town the car gave an electrical system fault with a yellow warning saying find a dealr soon. Then shortly after the warning went red and while driving all systems in the car started to shut down. Steering, transmission, throttle, dash, everything went crazy. Need to to cross 2 lanes of traffic to get off main road where there was no shoulder to pull onto a side road, very scary without power steering and the transmission putting itself into neutral. Easily could have caused an accident with my wife and 2 kids in yhe car. At that point the car was dead.

On November 8, 2022, I was driving my vehicle to the Audi Arlington dealership to service an "Electrical System Malfunction" alert that had recently appeared. Approximately one mile into my drive the car completely shut down while driving. This happened while I was proceeding through an urban intersection. All systems shut down on the car simultaneously, including every screen, hazard lights, engine and power steering, to name a few. I was able to coast to a stop while only partially exit the lane of traffic. As the car was entirely nonresponsive, it needed to be towed from that point to Audi Arlington. Audi Arlington determined that the issue resulted from a 48V generator.

Multiple warnings indicating to contact dealer (Lane departure, adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, etc) then 1 minute later transmission failure and engine failure imminent.... pull over immediately and contact dealer. I turned into a road off main highway within a minute of the last two warnings and as I turned, my center MMI went blank then my electronic dash went blank, transmission went into neutral and the engine died all within a few seconds. Fortunately I was able to coast to a stop in the parking lot. Flatbed towed to dealer who stated most likely the generator between the lithium battery bank and gas engine failed. They have seen several in this year for A6 and A7's with mild hybrid engines. I'm lucky to be in low volume traffic as there was no power to indicate to drivers around me that my engine quit and not even turn signals worked.

I experienced a total failure of the electric system in my 2019 A6. Car stopped running in the middle of the road. Had to use the tool in the trunk to manually switch the car to neutral so I could push it off the road. Car was towed to the Audi dealer in my area. Audi dealer reported the alternator is faulty. Yellow Electrical issue warning message showed up on, dashboard, then Red electrical issue message showed indicating the vehicle will shut down. Dealer reported “a bunch” of A6s 2019 and newer are expediting these issues and parts are on back order because of it.

While driving on highway, had complete electrical system failure. Received red message that said “electrical system malfunction”. Car went totally black and completely shut down within 2 minutes. I had to navigate 3 lanes to pull over with completely black cockpit after car shut down. Audi service says it’s the “starter generator”. Service said there is a chance of fire with moisture ingress in the starter generator. Apparently it’s a known issue with over 60 units on back order from their supplier Continental (no promise date available). Concerned this is a serious safety issue and will cause somebody to have a crash due to car shutting down and potential for electrical fire.

The Alternator had failed along with the battery and shut off the car, rendering it useless on the road. The vehicle is still under the New Car Warranty. It was a hazard as it could not be put into neutral and was stuck in park. The dealer had confirmed it was a manufacturer-wide problem with waits of up to 3-6 months for the part. The tow truck had difficulty towing it up as the car was not able to roll. Before the car shut off immediately it had given the warning "Electrical System: Malfunction! Please Contact Service, as well as Auto Start Stop System: Malfunction!".

I PURCHASED ANEW AUDI A6 ON SEP 11, 2019. IN THE FIRST 2 WEEKS, FIVE DIFFERENT TIMES, THE "START STOP SYSTEM" FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY. I WOULD BE STOPPED AND WHEN I TRIED TO START AGAIN THE ENGINE WOULD DIE. IN ORDER TO START THE CAR BACK UP, I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART USING THE START BUTTON. THIS RESULTED IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION. THE FIRST TIME, I WAS ON A STEEP INCLINE AND THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. ANOTHER TIME A FIRE TRUCK WAS TRYING TO GET THROUGH ON A TWO LANE ROAD AND I COULD NOT GET THE CAR STARTED BACK UP TO PULL FURTHER OVER ON THE ROAD. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO SERVICE TWICE. THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT KEPT AND DROVE THE CAR BUT THIS START STOP ISSUE DID NOT OCCUR AGAIN. Today, car showed electrical problem then leading to steering problem, transmission problem, all sensors shutting off, all thro flashing one by one alarms and messages on dash and then coming to a complete halt. It would not allow me to come out and locked me in. I could see that the locks were kicking in so took a micro second gap between unlock and auto lock to get out of the car forcefully. I have had situations when in traffic light, the car wouldn’t move back from neutral to drive unless I tried couple of times, but this was horrible incident. Now taking it to service to see what they are going to say, not always super helpful.
- 09/23/2019· ENGINE
THIS ISSUE HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AND THE AUTO STOP/START FEATURE HAS STOPPED THE ENGINE. MOST COMMONLY AT A STOP LIGHT AT A MAJOR CITY INTERSECTION, WHERE THE LIGHTS ARE LONGER. WHEN THE SYSTEM ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE ENGINE, IT ROUGH IDLES AND THEN THE DRIVE SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN THE ENGINE, CAUSING YOU TOO LOSE ALL POWER. THIS LEAVES YOU STRANDED, AND RISKS CAUSING SOMEONE TO REAR-END YOUR VEHICLE IF THE LIGHT CHANGES. PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, TURNING OFF THE IGNITION, AND THEN TURNING THE IGNITION BACK ON RESUMES ENGINE FUNCTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. SO FAR THE SERVICE CENTER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ROOT CAUSE.

Received a message for "Electrical System Failure" and drove ok at first but began receiving failure messages for various systems including but not limited to Start/Stop system, transmission, power steering, and crash avoidance systems. Soon after the entertainment and comfort system screens went blank followed by the dash screen and the car eventually just turned off as I was trying to find a safe place to pull over. Safety was put a risk as I was stranded on a busy road with no shoulder and because the battery was impacted my hazard lights only lasted a short time which left me and my vehicle exposed on the side of the road. The car was towed to the dealer (Audi of Albany) who inspected determined the failure was related to a faulty ignition generator. The car is currently at Audi of Albany and will be for at least 2 weeks so I am assuming it would be available for inspection. Many different warning lights appeared in the short time leading to total shutdown of the car. I recall a start/stop failure message, batter charge low, transmission failure light, power steering failure warning, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision avoidance among others. As stated above all screens in the car eventually turned off and the car fully failed on a main road and required a tow to the dealer.

This is my SECOND entry/complaint regarding the same EXTREMELY DANGEROUS steering malfunction. While driving my 2019 A6 (this time alone) in heavy rain the same warning message was displayed. The warning stated: steering malfunction, please stop the vehicle!. At which point the power steering locked-up & the engine powered down. As a result, I was unable to steer the vehicle. One again I was able to exit the highway safely. Being close to home with only a few turns, I was able to “limp” the car home, parked in my driveway and contacted Audi. Currently it’s at Nyack Audi awaiting service on Monday 9/11. This is a huge safety issue and needs to be addressed. Doing a bit of online research & reading countless Audi blogs, I found out this to be a common issue with other Audis while driving in the rain. Fist time this occurred was 6/16/22, driving a 2016 S6. Tracking # for that entry is 11543563

On my way to the dealership - about 10 minutes into the trip on a highway, driving at highway speed, all electrical systems in the car started shutting down, and quickly - air conditioning, all safety features like lane keep assist, collision avoidance, etc. The steering became very heavy, the brakes were underperforming. After slowing down safely, the car shut down and was completely immobile and inoperable.

I WAS ALL BANGED UP, CAR TOTALED! I AM STILL IN DISBELIEF...THOUGHT I HAD THE WORLD'S SAFEST CAR. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD A PROBLEM???

I was slowing down to stop at a traffic light when a message was displayed on the instrument panel that says "Electrical System Malfunction" with a yellow battery icon. A few seconds later the same "Electrical System Malfunction" with a red battery icon. Then the vehicle came to a complete stop and was inoperable. There was almo smoke coming from the hood near the positive battery terminal. The smoke had an electrical smell to it. I had no opportunity to pull over and was stuck in the middle of a very busy road right at the stop line of the traffic light. My family and I had to exit the vehicle with traffic on both sides of us and get to the side of the road safely. There was no prior indication that there was a problem, this happened all within about 5-10 seconds and I had no time to try and pull over to safety. I have found other complaints about this vehicle that are similar (see under the reliability section on Consumer Reports). The dealer identified the issue as an "internal failure" of the generator and 48v battery system, but had no explanation as to why it happened nor can they guarantee it will not happen again.

Car started by saying auto start /stop function malfunction, than Electrical Malfunction. after reading an Audi forum on Audi World there is thousand of customers complaining of the same issue. apparently its a known issue with their 48v mild hybrid system and their alternator. multiple dealerships blaming a faulty alternator. this issue has left people stranded and myself the vehicle A/C system stopped working and now parked at home until I can take to dealership. this issue is not a small one or impacting a small amount of consumers and more investigating should be done by your agency to be a Recall on this. Thx

THIS VEHICLE SUFFERS FROM A SOMETIMES DANGEROUS ACCELERATION LAG. THE TIME IT TAKE BETWEEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND THE TIME THE CAR STARTS TO MOVE IS EXCESSIVE AND IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS, DANGEROUS. IT'S ESPECIALLY EVIDENT IN CONDITIONS WHERE YOU'RE TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A LOW RPM SPEED (SLOW TRAFFIC, "CALIFORNIA" STOP, ETC) TO JOIN FASTER TRAFFIC OR MERGE IN. A PERFECT EXAMPLE IS TRYING TO GO FROM A SLOW MOVING HIGHWAY LANE TO A FASTER ONE. YOU PICK YOUR SPOT, THEN GO FOR IT. THE CAR SITS FOR 1-2 SECONDS...THEN IT GOES. THE FIRST FEW TIMES IT HAPPENED IT WAS DANGEROUS. I HAVE HAD TO ADJUST MY DRIVING TO MAKE SURE I DO NOT END UP IN A SITUATION WHERE A STANDARD THROTTLE RESPONSE WOULD BE REQUIRED. ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE THE LAG CAN CAUSE THE DRIVER TO INADVERTENTLY ENTER INTO AN UNSAFE SITUATION: -TURNING LEFT ACROSS TRAFFIC - IN-TOWN MERGE OR LANE CHANGE - TURNING RIGHT TO JOIN FASTER TRAFFIC

My water pump failed at 49,000 miles. I have been advised by Audi that it is not covered by the extended warranty for some similar cars.

CAR HAS A LANE KEEPING ASSISTANT WHICH IS AGGRESSIVE. CAR DOESN'T ALLOW YOU TO PASS PARKED VEHICLE SUCH AS A UPS DELIVERY TRUCK, PEDESTRIANS OR BICYCLISTS WITHOUT TRYING TO STEER YOU BACK TOWARD THE OBJECT, VEHICLE OR BICYCLIST YOU'RE TRYING TO PASS BY PULLING TO THE LEFT TOWARD CENTER ROADWAY LINES. ALMOST STRUCK A UPS TRUCK AFTER CAR ABRUPTLY STEERED CAR BACK TOWARD THE STOPPED TRUCK, ALSO OCCURED TWICE WHILE PASSING BICYCLISTS AND ONCE WITH A PEDESTRIAN. I ALSO HAD TROUBLE MERGING ONTO AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEED, SIGNAL LIGHTS DID NOT OVERRIDE THE LLANEKEEPING ASSIST AND I LITERALLY HAD TO FIGHT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY...CAR FINALLY CROSSED THE LINES AT A POINT WHERE I WAS RUNNING OUT OF RAMP. CAR HAS BEEN RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIME, FOUND FAULT CODES WITH CAMERAS AND CAR WAS REPROGRAMMED. PROBLEM IS NOT RESOLVED AND VERY DANGEROUS. AUDI CORPORATE UNRESPONSIVE. I HAVE MANUALLY DISABLED THE SYSTEM. NOTE: REPORTED DATE BELOW IS THE DATE THE CAR WOULD NOT MERGE ONTO I87 SOUTH IN ALBANY NY. NUMEROUS OTHER OCCURENCES OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTH. AUDI ALBANY SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS NUMEROUS REPAIR ORDERS. CAR IS IN AUDI CORPORATE REMEDATION AS A LEMON BUT NO CONCLUSION YET. CAR SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND RECALLED SERIOUS HAZARD TO PEDESTRIANS AND BICYCLISTS.

The car was purchased in 2019, brand new from Audi dealership. Last service showed a serious issue: REPLACE WATER PUMP VACUUM LINES WITH SOLENOIDS AND VACUUM RESERVOIR. Dealership claims out of warranty and wants to charge $5000. VW settled class action lawsuit with consumers due to faulty water pump, and there is a Technical service bulletin dated 11/21/2023 that states the water pump leaks coolant and needs to be repaired. Consumer should have been made aware that vehicle was at risk of faulty water pump that could have been replaced at time of bulletin issue because it would have been under the 4 year mark.

I HAVE A 2019 A6 3.0T QUATTRO WITH A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN EXITING THE DRIVER DOOR WHILE AUTO IS IN PARK WITH ENGINE RUNNING. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER ON 15 JULY WITH AUDI TECH SERVICE SUGGESTING TO REPLACE DOOR LATCH AND STATING VEHICLE OPERATES "NORMALLY AS DESIGNED" WHEN COMPARED TO SIMILAR VEHICLE. THE SAFETY ISSUE STILL EXISTS WITH HAVING TO PULL DOOR LATCH TWO, THREE AND FOUR TIMES TO EXIT THE AUTO AND OCCASIONALLY HAVING TO KILL THE ENGINE TO EXIT. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. THREE WITNESSES FROM THE DEALERSHIP VERIFIED MY STRUGGLING TO EXIT MY AUTO WHILE IN PARK. I WAS TOLD THE 2019 A6S AND A8S HAVE THIS ISSUE AND THE A8 ON THE DEALERSHIP FLOOR IS WORSE THAN MINE. I CONTACTED AUDI CARE ADVOCATE LINE ON 27 JULY AND A CASE # WAS CREATED. SINCE THEN I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE. MY AUDI DEALERSHIP SAID NO AUDI CONTACT WAS MADE TO THEM, AS I WAS LED TO BELIEVE WOULD TAKE PLACE BY THE ADVOCATE. AS A 30+ YEAR HUGELY POSITIVE AUDI CUSTOMER WITH MY PRESENT A6 AS MY 11TH AUDI YOU CAN IMAGINE MY DISAPPOINTMENT IN AUDI'S LACK OF CONCERN AND LACK OF RESPONSE. I HAVE SINCE POSTED ON THE AUDI USA FACEBOOK AND WAS IMMEDIATELY ASKED TO PM THEM. I BELIEVE THE DRIVER DOOR HAS A "DESIGN FLAW" WHICH CAUSES AN ISSUE WITH THE NEED TO EXIT IN AN EMERGENCY. AUDI IS REFUSING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND HAS CLAIMED TO HAVE "DOCUMENTED" MY "SENTIMENTS AND FEEDBACK". AUDI CORPORATE IS IGNORING AND DISMISSING WHAT SEEMS TO BE A HORRIFIC NEW DESIGN FLAW. VERY SCARY!!

Rearview camera (or various combinations of between 1 and 4 of the surround view cameras -- no rhyme or reason to which camera(s) fail in a given incident) frequently fails and displays a black screen instead of rearward facing view. This happens roughly one of every ten times I start my car, and is resolved only after I turn my car off, lock it, and leave it alone for several minutes. This has been the case since the car was new to me (I am the second owner of the vehicle, having purchased it 8 months and 10k miles after the original owner). This severely compromises rearward visibility and is in direct violation of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111. Without the mandated backup camera, I am unable to see immediately behind my vehicle, increasing the risk of a collision with a pedestrian, another vehicle, or an animal/other object. The problem has been reproduced by two separate Audi dealers (Audi Marin and Audi Palo Alto), but they have been unable to resolve the issue upon repeated inspection of my vehicle. There are no warning lamps or errors prior to the failure. The only indication of failure is when I shift into reverse and see a black screen. This issue is consistent with other owners' experiences (see [XXX] ) who own vehicles on the same infotainment infrastructure (2019-2020 Audi A6/A7/A8/Q7/Q8). Similarly, it is consistent with the issue underpinning Compliance Recall 91DZ, affecting the same vehicles of the 2021 model year onward. 1 / 2 · Purchased 2019 Audi A6 Prestige sedan in August 19, 2023 Issue #1: Transmission Issue · Day after purchase, transmission error appeared on dashboard during highway driving · Car acted up a little, so quickly got off highway and drove home. Emotionally scared · Called tow company to haul to dealership the next day · In the shop for few days and didn’t have a replacement vehicle. · Also got some message about air bags · I have email communication about these issues with Audi Issue #2: Three safety recalls and periodic electrical warnings between 2019-2022 including... · Inaccurate fuel level indicator o 6-7 months between recall notice and fix o Consistently thinking about range #3: Issue Alternator · 6/22: Warning message appeared on dashboard indicating battery issue, take for service · Friday, 6/23: Took to an widely recognized car shop (specializing in imported vehicles) close by to check it. Mechanic summarized that the alternator voltage output is low. Battery test good. · Recommendation was to replace alternator. Car shop couldn’t get replacement due to supply backlog. o 1:00 PM: On the drive back on highway, frequent warning messages appeared on dash and the car suddenly started accelerated/decelerating. Immediately pulled onto the breakdown lane. o 2:30 PM: After 1.5 hours, Tow truck came to pickup vehicle and take it home o 2:30 – 4: Struggled to get car started to pull off trailer. VEHICLE, WHICH I HAVE OWNED SINCE FEBRUARY OF 2019, WAS STATIONARY. AS I OPENED THE TRUNK LID BY PULLING UP ON THE HANDLE, I LEANED SLIGHTLY INTO THE TRUNK TO VIEW AN OBJECT. AT THIS POINT, THE LID STARTED TO CLOSE, TOUCHING THE BACK OF MY HEAD AND NECK. THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED LATER IN THE DAY TO ANOTHER PERSON.
