  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANELCampaign 24V051000 · 30/01/2024Over-the-air fix

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2012-2023 Model S, 2016-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, 2019-2024 Model Y, and 2024 Cybertruck vehicles. An incorrect font size is displayed on the instrument panel for the Brake, Park, and Antilock Brake System (ABS) warning lights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems" and 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk: Warning lights with a smaller font size can make critical safety information on the instrument panel difficult to read, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla began releasing an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-00-003.

  • FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERACampaign 21V846000 · 29/10/2021Over-the-air fix

Risk: Unexpected activation of the AEB system may cause the car to stop suddenly, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla Service has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. The recall began October 25, 2021. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-21-00-004.

  • BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARECampaign 21V035000 · 29/01/2021

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2012-2018 Tesla Model S and 2016-2018 Model X vehicles with a center display equipped with a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and an 8GB eMMC NAND flash memory device. When the 8GB eMMC NAND flash memory device for the center display reaches lifetime wear, the eMMC controller will no longer be able to maintain the integrity of the filesystem, causing a failure in some of the center display functions.

Risk: The eMMC controller wear-out condition can cause the loss of the rearview camera display, defrost/defog control settings, and exterior turn signal lighting, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Owners should ensure their vehicles are operating firmware release 2020.48.48.12 or newer, which will alert owners if the eMMC is approaching lifetime wear. Tesla will notify owners, and will replace the VCM daughterboard with one containing an enhanced eMMC controller, free of charge. The recall began March 29, 2021. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-21-21-001.

  • SEAT BELTS:FRONT:WARNING LIGHT/DEVICESCampaign 24V376000 · 28/05/2024Over-the-air fix

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2012-2024 Model S, 2015-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles. In the event of an unbelted driver, the seat belt warning light and audible chime may not activate as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk: A seat belt warning system that fails to alert occupants of an unbelted seat belt can increase the risk of injury during a crash.

Fix: Tesla will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update. Owner notification letters were mailed July 26, 2024. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-00-008.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ADAS:AUTONOMOUS/SELF DRIVING:SOFTWARECampaign 22V037000 · 27/01/2022Over-the-air fix

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2016-2022 Model S and Model X, 2017-2022 Model 3, and 2020-2022 Model Y vehicles. The "rolling stop" functionality available as part of the Full Self-Driving (Beta) software may allow the vehicle to travel through an all-way stop intersection without first coming to a stop.

Risk: Failing to stop at a stop sign can increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla will perform an over-the-air (OTA) software update that disables the "rolling stop" functionality, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 28, 2022. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-22-00-001.

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Model S, Model X, and 2017-2020 Model 3 vehicles equipped with Autopilot Computer 2.5 and operating certain firmware releases. The rearview image may not immediately display when the vehicle begins to reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk: A delayed rearview camera image reduces the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla will perform an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 17, 2022. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-22-00-004.

  • STEERING:AUTOMATED/ADAPTIVE STEERINGCampaign 23V085000 · 15/02/2023Over-the-air fix

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2016-2023 Model S, Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles equipped with Full Self-Driving Beta (FSD Beta) software or pending installation.  The FSD Beta system may allow the vehicle to act unsafe around intersections, such as traveling straight through an intersection while in a turn-only lane, entering a stop sign-controlled intersection without coming to a complete stop, or proceeding into an intersection during a steady yellow traffic signal without due caution. In addition, the system may respond insufficiently to changes in posted speed limits or not adequately account for the driver's adjustment of the vehicle's speed to exceed posted speed limits.

Risk: FSD Beta software that allows a vehicle to exceed speed limits or travel through intersections in an unlawful or unpredictable manner increases the risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge.  Owner notification letters were mailed April 15, 2023.  Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752.  Tesla's number for this recall is SB-23-00-001.

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling 2012-2023 Model S, 2016-2023 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles equipped with all versions of Autosteer leading up to the version(s) that contains the recall remedy. In certain circumstances when Autosteer is engaged, the prominence and scope of the feature's controls may not be sufficient to prevent driver misuse of the SAE Level 2 advanced driver-assistance feature.

Risk: In certain circumstances when Autosteer is engaged, and the driver does not maintain responsibility for vehicle operation and is unprepared to intervene as necessary or fails to recognize when Autosteer is canceled or not engaged, there may be an increased risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 10, 2024. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-23-00-008.

The horn on the steering wheel stopped working recently. Horns are important safety features on any vehicle, and electric vehicles are especially quiet so the horn is essential. The other buttons and scrollers on the steering wheel also stopped working. It's unclear if the airbag still functions.

2018 MODEL X IN THE JUNKYARD. HAS NOT BEEN IN A CRASH, COMPLETELY UNDAMAGED EXCEPT FOR THE BACK WHEEL JAMMED UP IN THE WHEEL-WELL AND GONE WHOMPY. TESLA TSB ADVISES THAT CERTAIN EARLY MODEL YEARS MAY HAVE WEAK SUSPENSION LINKS THAT MAY FAIL AND CAUSE "EXCESSIVE CAMBER" BUT THEY CLAIM THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE! I am writing to you once again to emphasize and provide additional details regarding the critical safety issue I previously addressed concerning the Tesla Model X vehicles, which is similarly affecting Tesla Model S models. My personal experience underscores the severity of this problem: I have had to replace five tires due to accelerated inner wall wear. This specific wear pattern is a direct result of improper camber alignment, an issue that Tesla has continuously refused to rectify. This problem is not isolated to my vehicle alone. A growing number of Tesla Model X and Model S owners have reported similar experiences, indicating a widespread and systemic issue. The accelerated inner wall tire wear poses significant safety risks, as it can lead to unexpected and dangerous tire failures on the road. Despite the clear evidence and numerous complaints from Tesla owners, Tesla has consistently declined to address this issue adequately. It appears that the company’s reluctance is rooted in the fact that proper repair or recall to fix the camber alignment is not cost-effective from their perspective. However, this cost-cutting measure is putting drivers and passengers at risk. Given the scale and gravity of this issue, I urge the National Highway Safety Institute to take immediate action. It is essential to investigate these recurring problems with both the Tesla Model X and Model S models. The safety of Tesla drivers, passengers, and the general public is at stake, and a thorough investigation could compel Tesla to take the necessary corrective actions. Thank you for your attention to this urgent safety matter. I trust that the National Highway Safety Institute will act promptly to ensure automotive safety and hold manufacturers accountable for their vehicles’ reliability and safety.

Dealing with 2 major safety issues and innumerable minor issues with our Model X. The first major safety issue involves our right falcon wing door. It will not properly open because it is sensing an obstruction that’s not there. The mobile tech told us that something inside the door has become disconnected causing the issue - clearly something that is occurring frequently. I’m struggling to get the vehicle repaired with Tesla and very worried that my kids will become trapped in an emergency. The second major issue is the front axles grinding down over time. My car is only 3.5 years old. My front axles have already been replaced once. They are beginning to make the “clunking” sound loudly enough that it is clear they need to be replaced again. Again, Tesla will make it incredibly difficult to get in and get the needed repairs on my vehicle.

TIRES ARE SEPARATING INTERNALLY AFTER 27K MILES. CONTINENTAL TIRES. THIS TIRE SHOULD BE GOOD FOR 45K MILES. IT HAS NO OTHER PROBLEMS. TESLA SAYS THEY HAVE LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THOSE TIRES. • 12/03/2019· SEAT BELTS

MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER CLIMBED INTO THE 3RD ROW OF OUR TESLA MODEL X WHILE IT WAS PARKED. SHE WANTED TO SIT IN THE BACK SEAT AND USE A "BIG GIRL" SEAT BELT, INSTEAD OF HER CAR SEAT. SHE ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE SEAT BELT ON AND EVEN CLICKED IT INTO PLACE WITH THE STRAP OVER HER LAP. HOWEVER, SHE SOMEHOW GOT THE CHEST/SHOULDER STRAP WRAPPED AROUND HER NECK. MY DAUGHTER & WIFE THOUGHT THAT LETTING THE BELT RETRACT A LITTLE WOULD ALLOW THE REMOVE THE TENSION AND ALLOW THE BELT TO BE FULLY EXTENDED. THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. LUCKILY, ONE OF MY CHILD'S ARMS WAS IN A RAISED POSITION AND PREVENTED THE SEAT BELT (NOW IN A LOOP AROUND HER NECK) FROM LITERALLY STRANGLING HER. MY WIFE CALLED ME IN A PANIC AND HURRIED HOME. MY DAUGHTER SAT IN THE BACK SEAT CRYING AND IN A PANIC. I MET THEM IN THE STREET WHEN SHE ARRIVED. THE CAR WAS STILL ON WHEN I JUMPED IN THE BACK SEAT. I INITIALLY THOUGHT I COULD LET THE SEAT BELT RETRACT A BIT AND THEN THE TENSION WOULD RELEASE SO THAT I COULD REMOVE HER. THE PROBLEM IS THE BELT NEVER ALLOWED ME TO EXTEND IT. INSTEAD, THE SEAT BELT CONTINUED TO REMAIN TIGHT AND ENGAGED EVEN AS IT WAS RETRACTED. IN THE END, I HAD TO HOLD THE SEAT BELT IN PLACE SO IT WOULDN'T GET ANY TIGHTER AND MY WIFE RAN INTO THE HOUSE AND GRABBED SCISSORS. ONCE I HAD SECURED THE SEAT BELT AND HAD SCISSORS IN HAND, I ASKED MY WIFE TO TAKE A CELL PHONE VIDEO OF IT. I CAN SHARE THAT VIDEO WITH YOU IF YOU LIKE. ULTIMATELY, WE HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT. WE HAVE NOT ALERTED TESLA OF THIS ISSUE AND WE HAVE NOT YET HAD THE CAR REPAIRED. I'M NOT FAMILIAR WITH SEAT BELT SAFETY REQUIREMENTS, AND I REALIZE MY DAUGHTER IS VERY YOUNG AND HAVING THE SEAT BELT WRAP AROUND HER NECK IS LIKELY AN UNCOMMON SITUATION, BUT IT SEEMED ODD TO ME THAT THE BELT PERFORMED IN THIS MANNER. I'M ALERTING THE NHTSA IN CASE THIS IS A PRODUCT SAFETY ISSUE THAT WARRANTS ACTION.

ON NOV 17, 2018 AT 4:50 PM, I WAS DRIVING MY TESLA X SLOWLY WITH AUTO PILOT OFF AND AUTO STEER OFF ON A SURFACE STREET IN SAN CLEMENTE, CA. I WAS TRYING TO DO A U TURN. I VERIFIED THAT THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC, THAT THERE WAS AN AREA WHERE CARS WERE NOT PARKED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE STREET AND COULD USE A PARKING DRIVEWAY ON THE RIGHT THAT WILL ALLOW MORE SPACE TO PERFORM THE U TURN. I GENTLY PRESSED THE BREAK TO FURTHER SLOWDOWN AND THEN VEERED A LITTLE TO THE RIGHT INTO THE DRIVEWAY AT LESS THAN 5 MPH. I STARTED TO TURN TO THE LEFT WHILE STILL GENTLY PRESSING THE BREAK. AS SOON AS THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL LEFT THE DRIVEWAY AND BEFORE I HAD COMPLETED THE U TURN, THE TESLA ALL OF A SUDDEN, ON ITS OWN SPONTANEOUSLY ACCELERATED TO FULL POWER (A TESLA X CAN GO FROM 0-60 MILES IN APPROX. 4 SECONDS). MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BREAK, I DID NOT MOVE IT AND THEREFORE I DID NOT PRESS THE ACCELERATOR. THERE WERE NO OBJECTS OBSTRUCTING THE PEDALS. IN A SMALL FRACTION OF A SECOND, THE TESLA TRAVELED AT FULL SPEED TOWARDS THE TACOMA CAR PARKED AHEAD ON THE LEFT (LESS THAN 20 FEET). SOMETHING IN THE TESLA SYSTEM TRIGGERED THE SUDDEN SPONTANEOUS FULL ACCELERATION RESULTING IN THIS COLLISION. THE TESLA HAD MAJOR DAMAGE IN THE FRONT, THE AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. I HAD A MAJOR BRUISE ON MY ABDOMEN AND SEVERAL SMALL BRUISES ON MY CHEST. THE TACOMA SUFFERED DAMAGE IN THE FRONT, MOVED BACKWARDS AND HIT THE CAR PARKED BEHIND IT. THERE WERE NO PASSENGERS IN THE OTHER VEHICLES. IT IS MY FIRM BELIEF THAT THIS ACCIDENT OCCURRED DUE NOT TO A DRIVER'S ERROR BUT TO A TECHNOLOGICAL ERROR WITHIN THE TESLA VEHICLE. I FOUND MORE THAN 60 COMPLAINTS FOR SPONTANEOUS SUDDEN ACCELERATION FOR TESLA VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN FILED TO NHTSA. WHAT THESE COMPLAINTS HAVE IN COMMON ARE THAT VEHICLES ARE TRAVELING SLOWLY TRYING TO PARK OR MAKE TURNS AT LOW SPEED WHEN SUDDEN SPONTANEOUS FULL ACCELERATION WAS TRIGGERED.

DRIVER DISTRACTION ISSUE WHEN I BOUGHT THE TESLA MODEL X, BASIC VOICE COMMANDS WERE AVAILABLE -- E.G., TO CALL USING A SMARTPHONE, LINKED TO THE CAR VIA BLUETOOTH. THE OPERATION, AS NEW, WAS STRAIGHTFORWARD, AND MATCHED THE THEN-CURRENT MANUAL, AVAILABLE IN 2018. AS IS KNOWN, TESLA UPDATES ITS CAR SOFTWARE, &, IN FACT, MAKES IT MANDATORY THAT THE CAR'S SW BE UPDATED, OR RISK VOIDING THE WARRANTY. NORMALLY, THE NEW SW UPDATES IMPROVE THE OPERATION OF THE CAR. HOWEVER, STARTING IN DECEMBER 2019, THE SW UPDATES, & EACH TESLA 'OWNERS MANUAL' THAT CORRESPONDS, FELL OUT OF SYNC. THE MANUAL WOULD DESCRIBE FUNCTIONALITY, AND THE ACTUAL SOFTWARE, SIMPLY DID NOT HAVE THE FUNCTIONALITY. I'VE READ EACH OF THE UPDATED "MODEL X OWNERS MANUAL NORTH AMERICA", (JANUARY 2020 & OCTOBER 2020), DOWNLOADED FROM THE TESLA WEBSITE. IN EACH CASE, THE CAR FAILS TO CONFORM TO THE OPERATIONAL DETAILS EXPLAINED AT, E.G., THE OCTOBER 2020 (2020.44) MANUAL, PAGE 53. ON THAT PAGE, TESLA EXPLAINS, TWICE, THAT A WAY TO ACTIVATE A VOICE COMMAND, IS TO 1. PRESS THE VOICE BUTTON; 2. STATE THE VOICE COMMAND, E.G., "CALL JOHN DOE" 3. PRESS THE VOICE COMMAND. TWICE, ON THE SAME PAGE 53, TESLA WRONGLY INSTRUCTS THE DRIVER TO 'TAP THE VOICE BUTTON AGAIN' OR 'PRESS AGAIN'. IN HUNDREDS ATTEMPTS TO MAKE THE MODEL X TO RESPOND TO 'BOOKEND' PRESSES OF THE VOICE BUTTON, IT HAS FAILED TO OPERATE IN THE MANNER DESCRIBED IN THE MANUAL, SINCE DECEMBER 2019. HOWEVER, THE CAR DOES RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING SEQUENCE OF INPUTS, WHICH THE MANUAL ALSO DESCRIBES: 1. PRESS THE VOICE BUTTON; 2. STATE THE VOICE COMMAND, E.G., "CALL JOHN DOE" 3. WAIT, UP TO 5 SECONDS ...CONTINUED IN ATTACHEMENT

Tesla wiper stopped working during drive, rendering it impossible to view the outside. I had to pull over on the side of the road and shut the car down. After rebooting the car, the driver side wipers came back functional, the passenger side is non operable. This happened while driving, while there was moderate amount of rainfall - thereby creating a totally unsafe condition for myself and other people on the freeway. When I contacted Tesla for service, they have given me an appointment 1 month from today to rectify the problem - this is needless to say unacceptable and the expectation that I continue to drive a vehicle without functional wipers goes against current FMVSS regulations that I am aware of.

THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING I AM CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY AND I'M SURE THAT LOOSE DRIVER SEAT IS DANGEROUS. • 11/10/2023· FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURECrash

The Full Self Driving System failed to operate correctly. This caused my car to hit another car. I have asked Tesla for the data they use to tell what the driver was doing when the system was on but the Tesla staff who respond to my requests plead ignorance of what data I am referring to. I am not ready to spend the money it would cost to hire a lawyer to force Tesla to hand over the data from their system. I have video from the Tesla camera showing what happens. I will try to upload it. Here is a quick run through of what happened: I entered the freeway and got into the left lane. Once I was safely in the left lane and up to speed I turned on the FSD keeping my hands on the steering wheel. After a few moments the car veered to the right, I tugged against the pull of the FSD and got it back in the lane when all of a sudden it turned my wheel hard right into a minivan. It happened so fast that the wheel turned even with my hands on it. I have been trying to talk to someone at Tesla but it is difficult to break through the front lines as they deflect contacts away from anyone who might be able to answer my questions about getting the FSD incident data. The video is .mp4 so it is not allowing me to upload. Please let me know how to send you the video.

  • 10/27/2023· LANE DEPARTURE

On Oct. 26 at approximately 5:45 p.m. on HWY 26 near Sandy, OR the autopilot system failed by abruptly turning the car into the upcoming turn lain (marked with solid white line) and towards oncoming traffic. I had to immediately take significant corrective action to move the car back into the lane I was traveling. I firmly believe that the car could have cross into the lane going the opposite direction. I definitely was very unsettled by this event. This type of spontaneous autopilot error has occurred numerous times in the past to me (have driven a Model X Tesla since 2016) and I now very seldom use the feature while driving. I have taking no further action regarding this event or others because while under warranty Tesla always come up with rationale that they couldn't find a problem because of loss of connectivity, could not detect a problem, etc. I thought that through the years with their hype and over-the-air updates things would get better but they have not! Thank you for your time. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • 10/17/2022· SUSPENSION

The rear suspension has design problem that even within the alignment spec and normal driving conditions, the inner side of the rear tires are wearing off in an astonishing speed. This is s a known issue to all customers. Just in my personal case, the inner side of the rear tire wear off to thread within about 5000 miles driving and began leaking. This has extremely serious potential danger in local and highway driving situations. Since the normal car maintenance work hardly could take it nner side tire data. Very high percentage of drivers are driving the car with danger now on the road without any knowledge and preparness for the danger. This put not only the Tesla MX driver in danger, but also everyone around the vehicle, which leads this to a imminent public safety issue. Also, the manufacturer's scheduled maintenance is way inadequate, especially they deny any liability on n this problem, and never officially remind the consumer until the problem surfaced. This policy is also extremely unfair to Tesla's frontline workers. They have experience hostile environments from real world to execute this dangerous company policy. A immediate mandatory recall is highly suggested to inspect all MX models affected. Before a sound technical solution is perfected, consumers should be advised with options to safely drive this car, or this car should be banned from public roads.

The suspension is very loud, and sounds like it is going to break. A Tesla technician who was fixing another issue indicated that it is the Upper Control Arm, which seems to be a constant issue with this car. While we did schedule this to be fixed (for next week - they have estimated the cost of repair is over $1000), I fear that it could be a significant safety issue if there were a failure of the upper control arms. No warning light or any other type of warning occurred, which could lead others to not know they need to get this fixed. Tesla has issued a recall in China for this issue.

TESLA MODEL X DIES TWO TIMES. 1) AT APX 1K MILES (WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF NEW PURCHASE OF NEW VEHICLE, 1ST OWNER), IT DIED ON FREEWAY WITH NO POWER AND STOPPED. DUE TO SPACING FROM THE REAR CARD, NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED AND HENCE NO FATALITY. TESLA SERVICE CENTER FOUND NOTHING WITH THIS ISSUE. NO RESOLUTION ON DIAGNOSIS AND OR DID NOT CARE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. 2) AT 9K MILES IDENTICAL ISSUE BUT WITH AN ADDITIONAL ISSUE OF MODEL X GOING IN FORWARD DIRECTIONS WHEN IT SHOWED REVERS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. EVERYTHING IN CAR WAS FROZEN ONLY OPTION WAS FORWARD DIRECTION AT LOW SPEED BUT WITH REVERSE MODE SIGN!! I HAD NOT OTHER CONTROL OVER THE TESLA MODEL X. I HAVE TAKEN VIDEO AT THIS TIME FOR AN EVIDENCE. TESLA STATES THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUE AND DOWN LOADED DISPLAY DRIVER AGAIN!! I FIND IT AN EXCUSE AND TESLA DOES NOT UNDERSTAND SERIOUSNESS IN SAFETY ISSUE. ME AND FAMILY IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR AFTER TWO INCIDENTS.

THIS IS ANOTHER COMPLAINT ABOUT THE FRAGILE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS ON TESLAS. I HAVE HAS TO USE THE VIN OF ANOTHER WRECKED TESLA BECAUSE THE AUCTION LISTING OF THE CAR IN QUESTION DOES NOT PROVIDE THE NUMBER. HERE IS A TESLA FOR SALE BY THE INSURER. HTTPS://WWW.COPART.COM/LOT/52625009/PHOTOS CLOSE UP PHOTOGRAPHS SHOW THAT ALMOST EVERY COMPONENT OF THE REAR SUSPENSION HAS SNAPPED IN HALF. THE CAR HAS NOT SUFFERED AN IMPACT THAT WOULD ACCOUNT FOR THE DAMAGE. ONE POSSIBLE EXPLANATION IS THAT WHEN A TESLA HAS A GLITCH OR LOGIC LOCKUP CAUSING FULL ACCELERATION THEN THE TRACTION CONTROL APPLIES THE BRAKE ON THE SPINNING WHEEL. THE SUSPENSION IS TOO WEAK TO TAKE THE MASSIVE TORQUE AND GETS WRENCHED OFF. IT SEEMS HIGHLY PROBABLE THAT THIS SCENARIO HAS CAUSED SEVERAL FATAL CRASHES. UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, CRASH, INFERNO. I PETITION NHTSA TO LAUNCH AN INVESTIGATION.

The fender garnish on both the driver and passenger side of the car is falling apart. The adhesive on the fender garnish fell apart and was hanging off the side near the wheels. It was replaced by Tesla on 8/2/21(driver side) and 9/11/21(passenger side), and now on 10/4/21 both fender garnishes are falling apart yet again! On 10/5/21, The Tesla technician looked at the replaced fender garnishes and is ordering another set. This continues to be a safety risk because the fender garnishes are detaching near the wheels and can cause an accident. Since the purchase of this vehicle the Safety Restraint System Fault Alert intermittently pops up while I am driving the vehicle. Tesla has owners make service appointment in an App which I have done multiple times in the past few years but each time the alert has gone away and the service appointments have been canceled. Turns out now, 4 years later, we have been driving with a faulty restraint system and there is a disconnect between the system and the wiring. Essentially this is a safety issue in that the notification system is faulty and incorrectly and only intermittently warns of possible failure as well as a possibility of the restraint system actually failing in a driving scenario. This problem is particularly concerning because they are unable to correctly diagnose which seats are affected and that includes seats that may have car seats attached.

Falcon doors failure to open on numerous occasions since Dec. 2020. This is a very frequent issue and I've had it into Tesla 6 to 7 times, they say can't replicate issue, same this past week and 30 min after I got it back same issue. Heat and Sun cause the doors to not open and it's getting worse. Aug 28, 2023 at 10:39 am and on thru Aug 30, 2023 on road trip to and from Phoenix, AZ in Indio CA I stopped for my kids to use the bathroom and neither door would open, override doesn't work and just shows "obstruction" even when there is nothing there, because my kids couldn't get out they were extremely stressed and almost wet themselves, every rest stop same thing, in Phoenix something, on the return trip samething every rest stop and this time one of my kids was sick, thinking he needed to throw up and again the falcon doors wouldn't open. If I was able to find some shade I could get them to work however they would only open far enough so my kids ages 20 and 14 at the time could crawl in and out of them like a snake. This is totally unacceptable, What If My Passengers Needed To Get Out In An Emergency, they couldn't. This past week I had it into Tesla and once again they are not fixed and the same issue again and again, I went so far as to tell Tesla to replace the sensors at my expense to see if that would fix the issue, they refused telling me they don't want to replace parts unless they are sure the parts are defective, Tesla once again just told me to bring it back if it happens again, 30 min after I picked it up the door issue returned but Everytime I take it in they always say they cannot replicate the issue. This is a major safety issue and I would like the help of the NHTSA to assist me in this very serious issue, once again I'm very sure it's the sun and heat that are affecting the sensors, Tesla doesn't seem to really care

THE VEHICLE FEELS AS THOUGH A TIRE HAS BEEN BLOWN, BUT THE TIRE SENSORS DO NOT INDICATE ANY TIRE PRESSURE ISSUES. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE MANUFACTURER'S SERVICE CENTER, THINKING INITIALLY THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DRIVETRAIN RELATED. HOWEVER, THE SERVICE CENTER HAS NOTIFIED US THAT THE PROBLEM LIES WITH BOTH REAR TIRES HAVING ISSUES, BOTH INTERNAL SEPARATION AND INTERNAL BUBBLES. THE SERVICE CENTER HAS NOTIFIED US THAT WE MUST PAY FOR REPLACEMENT OF THESE TIRES, WHICH ARE THE VEHICLE'S ORIGINAL TIRES WITH APROX. 25,000 MILES. ALL RESEARCH WE CAN FIND ON INTERNAL SEPARATION AND INTERNAL BUBBLES INDICATES A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. WE ARE GRATEFUL THE ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURED, BUT WONDER WHY THE CONSUMER IS ASKED TO PAY FOR WHAT APPEARS BY ALL OF OUR RESEARCH TO BE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. SHOULDN'T THE VEHICLE'S MANUFACTURER ALSO BE AWARE OF THIS? AND IF SO, WHY WOULD THEY ASK THE PURCHASER OF THE VEHICLE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A DEFECTIVE PART, WHETHER IT BE THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S OR ORIGINAL COMPONENTS PROVIDED BY A 3RD PARTY, SUCH AS THE TIRES? WE HAVE NOT YET FINALIZED A RESOLUTION, BUT WANTED TO FILE THIS IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THERE IS A RECORD OF SUCH TIRE DEFECTS IN CASE IT IS A COMMON DEFECT FOR SAID TIRE.

Captain seats in Tesla Model X cars do NOT support a standard child's car seat tether. The headrests are attached. The manual says to route the tether around the headrest, but it's at an angle causing the tether strap to slide down. I do not believe the tether will function in an accident because moving the car seat forward causes the tether to slip off. This is unacceptable— all cars should support a standard child's car seat. My Model X is a "six-seater" and all six seats are captain's seats with attached headrests. There is nowhere to put a car seat with a tether, yet child car seats require a tether strap in the forward-facing position. Please make all car manufacturers provide the safest possible car seat installation. The owner's manual even shows a picture of how to route the tether strap— but the picture is NOT accurate about the shape of the seat. It shows a level place for the tether strap to sit while routed around the headrest, but there is NO level or safe place for the tether strap to sit. It slides down onto the floor.

While the vehicle was parked in my garage, after I removed a car seat from the rear driver side passenger seat, the door would not lock and stay closed. Because of this the vehicle would stay on and continue to give me a drivers side rear passenger door open alert. When I attempted to drive the vehicle, it would constantly give me a warning that the door was open and a distractive noise alert would activate that hindered or disturbed my ability to concentrate on the road. I went to the tesla Pomona service center and they insisted that it was safe to drive and road worthy. While on the freeway I could hear air come into the vehicle and I could also smell diesel exhaust. Whenever I parked the vehicle, the vehicle would remain on and unlocked, which would drain the battery.

The passenger side middle row seat stopped locking in place. We drove out of our driveway with my 3 year old in his car seat when this happened, and he went flying into the back of the front passenger seat. Had we been driving any faster, he would have been seriously injured. Tesla sent a technician to our home for a mobile service visit. He wasn’t able to fix the problem and said ‘If it were me, I wouldn’t put my child on this seat.’ We then took it to the Long Beach service center, where we were told the seat locking mechanism ‘works’ but it eroding. They wanted to send us home, and I said no. I wanted it repaired. They said that we have to replace the entire seat for $750. I said absolutely not, this is a manufacturer’s defect and a huge safety issue and should not be failing. They did not care. A child is going to get injured.

Driving into a car wash, I placed the car in NEUTRAL. The instrument cluster confirmed as much with an 'N' symbol, while I was stopped, in the single-track for the car wash to push/pull the car through the apparatus. The car was pulled into the car wash about half-way (roughly 25-35 seconds of N). Then, the car spontaneously shifted to PARK, and indicated as much with a 'P' in the instrument cluster. No cars were behind me in the car wash, this time. And I was able to re-engage NEUTRAL for the remainder of the wash (about another 35-40 seconds). It is unknown if the car would revert to parking by itself, if I had not activated DRIVE to exit the wash. If it makes a difference, I was in the driver's seat the entire time -- as is the usual custom at this self-serve tracked car wash. This has happened 3 or 4 times before -- usually in connection with the car wash. It is very unclear if this is poor software or a sensor that is to blame. In my other Tesla, it tends to go to PARK without conscious user input when a body lifts out of the driver's seat. So this could be a simple sensor that is a bit touchy in this Model X that is the subject of this report.
