2018 HONDA CIVIC LX CONDENSER LEAKED OUT ALL ITS FREON. CONDENSER HAS NO DAMAGE FROM FOREIGN OBJECTS OR IMPACT. VEHICLE IS ONLY TWO THOUSAND MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. MANY OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES HAVE CONDENSER RECALLS BUT HONDA REFUSES TO PAY FOR REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY SAY MY VIN IS NOT ON THE LIST.

  • 12/28/2018· AIR BAGS

ON 11/28/2018, I WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY AND THE AIR BAG IN MY CAR DEPLOYED WITH NO REASON. I SENT THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR INVESTIGATION. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE AIR BAG IS DEPLOYED BECAUSE THEY FOUND A DENT ON THE REAR CONTROL ARM WHICH I FOUND HARD TO BELIEVE. WHEN THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, THERE WAS NO COLLISION, I WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY, SO THERE IS SURELY NO BUMPS ON THE ROAD. EVEN IF THEY FOUND A DENT ON THE CAR, THERE IS NO PROOF THAT THE DENT IS MADE ON THE SAME DAY THAT THE AIR BAG POPS UP. HYPOTHETICALLY IT CAN CAUSE THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY, IT JUST MEANS THE CAR HAS DESIGN PROBLEMS BECAUSE SCRATCHING THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR CAN HAPPEN VERY OFTEN. IT IS TERRIFYING TO KNOW THAT WILL TRIGGER THE AIR BAG TO EXPLODE. THAT IS THE REASON I FEEL IT IS SUSPICIOUS AND IT IS NECESSARY TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I HAVE REQUESTED THE DEALER TO PROVIDE THE INVESTIGATION RESULT REPORT, BUT THEY HAVE REFUSED. THEY CLAIM THE REPORT WILL ONLY BE PROVIDED TO THE INSURANCE BECAUSE MY INSURANCE HAD PAID FOR THE REPAIR. I HAVE CONFIRMED WITH MY INSURANCE AND THEY DID NOT RECEIVE ANYTHING EXCEPT THE ESTIMATION, MEANING THE DEALER IS STILL HOLDING THE INVESTIGATION RESULT AND DID NOT SHARE WITH ANYONE.

  • 12/17/2024· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The standard OEM key fobs for Honda Civics, for several model years, and possibly for other Honda models, have a "feature" that seriously affects driver and passenger safety, and that cannot be disabled. If two buttons are depressed simultaneously on the key fob for a period of time, all of the windows go down and the doors unlock. I have encountered dozens and dozens, perhaps hundreds, of owner complaints about this "feature" on various Internet bulletin boards. Typically, the stories go, "I parked downtown in an unsafe area and I came back to my car and found that it was unlocked with all of the windows open and someone stole everything from my car," or "I parked outside just before a rain storm and I returned to my car to find all of the windows open without my knowledge and the interior of my car was soaked." Single women could encounter this problem and be attacked by people hiding in the back seat. Apparently, if anything in one's pocket depresses the keys on the fob, without one's knowledge, this occurs. It has happened to me, where I'll bend down to tie my shoe and walk away and I'll return hours later to find all the windows open during a rain storm or in a bad part of town. I've asked American Honda numerous times for a way to disable this unwanted "feature" and they've said that they've not interested in addressing it unless they're forced to do so by the government. This is a serious safety issue, not only implicating potential crime, but a wet soaked car interior could affect electrical and navigation systems in a life-threatening way. If you respond, I can upload several Internet pages with owner comments and complaints about this problem.

Safety concern: I am a single mom and three instances while my child was in the vehicle the car has self corrected it’s steering towards other vehicles in traffic. Yes, problem has been reproduced. Both codes received from service center 12/2/2024 and diagnostics ran by dealer 12/9/2024 (first available appointment.) Honda dealership has diagnosed (can provide documentation) and Honda Corp has been made aware of this 12/3/2024 initial contact to NHTSA & Honda Corp with suspected issue and called both 12/9/2024 with confirmation upon receipt of diagnostics. This occurred in January 2023 and the entire steering system was replaced. Upon replacement the issue has not acted up again until around 11/29/24. The replacement did not make a full two years before reoccurring failure.

  • 12/04/2023· STEERING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Turning the steering wheel requires more force because there’s resistance. It’’s possible to turn the wheel to the left, let go of it and it’ll stay in that direction instead of rotating back. This causes major issues on the highway and during heavy rain. The slightest adjustment causes overcorrection. It’s also accompanied by this creaky/clicking noise.

  • 11/29/2017· STEERING

THE ISSUE IS WITH THE "ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION" (RDM)SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM MAY HAVE BEEN WORKING AS DESIGNED: BUT IF SO IT CREATED A CORRECTION THAT MAY HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THE ISSUE OCCURRED AT A POINT WHERE THE ROAD ABRUPTLY CHANGES FROM A SINGLE LANE TO A THREE-LANE ROAD. THE THREE-LANE ROAD HAS A SOLID DIVIDER BETWEEN THE THREE WEST-BOUND LANES AND THE THREE-EAST BOUND LANES. THE NORMAL PROCEDURE IS TO ENTER THE THREE-LANE GOING STRAIGHT AHEAD AND THEN MOVE TO THE RIGHT AS DESIRED TO GET INTO THE MIDDLE OR RIGHT-HAND LANE. IN OTHER WORDS THE SINGLE-LANE ROAD MERGERS INTO THE LEFT-HAND LANE IF YOU KEEP THE STEERING STRAIGHT AHEAD. AS I APPROACHED THE TRANSITION POINT THE RDM SUDDENLY PULLED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT (CREATING ABOUT A 30 DEGREE CHANGE IN DIRECTION) AND APPLIED HEAVY BRAKING. IF THAT ACTION HAD OCCURRED ON A TWO LANE ROAD WITH A CAR ON MY RIGHT IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A COLLISION. SINCE THERE WAS AN ABRUPT CHANGE IN LANE MARKINGS AND THE SOLID CENTER DIVIDER CLOSE AHEAD; I SUSPECT THE RDM INTERPRETED THAT SITUATION AS "I WAS ABOUT TO CRASH INTO SOMETHING". THE OWNER'S GUIDE SAYS IT WILL DO EXACTLY WHAT IT DID. BUT IN THIS CASE IT COULD HAVE REPLACED ONE TYPE OF CRASH WITH ANOTHER TYPE OF CRASH; OR MORE IMPOTENTLY CREATED A CRASH THAT WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED AT ALL !!

EVEN AFTER PULLING OVER AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT COME BACK ON FOR MILES AND THEN COMES IN AND OUT UNTIL IT FULLY REBOOTS. WILL MAKE A TONE AND SHUT DOWN THE ENTIRE SCREEN DURING NAVIGATION AND AFTER PULLING OVER AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, WILL SOMETIMES NOT RE-ENGAGE NAVIGATION AT ALL, UNTIL NEXT DAY.

SINCE SHORTLY AFTER I GOT MY CAR, BRAND NEW, IT STARTED TO STALL A LITTLE BIT AS I WENT TO TURN, IF I HAD TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN BEFOREHAND. IT GOT WORSE AS TIME WENT ON. I TOLD HONDA BEFORE MY FIRST YEAR WAS UP AND HE TOLD ME TO JUST TAKE OFF ECO. I DID, BUT EVENTUALLY IT STARTED DOING THAT WITHOUT ECO. I'M AFRAID IT'S GONNA DO THAT WHEN I HAVE TO TURN LEFT ONTO A BUSY ROAD AND NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY FAST ENOUGH. BOTH ECO AND NON ECO SHOULD WORK EFFICIENTLY. THE DATE BELOW IS AN ESTIMATE OF WHEN IT STARTED. IT'S BEEN A COUPLE YEARS.

I was informed of recall on my 2018 Honda Civic. I have called my local dealership - Lees Summit Honda, since receiving the recall notification. I was told there was a national shortage on parts and my vehicle could not be fixed and to call back next month. I have been calling monthly since receiving the recall notification. I just received an "Important Safety Recall" notice in the mail from Honda detailing the safety consequences of not repairing my vehicle and advising "parts are now available and you can bring your vehicle in for a free repair." I again called my local Honda dealership and was told the parts are not available. I advised that I have been experiencing an acceleration issue after slowing down, such as when I slow down to make a turn. I was told that I could bring my vehicle in for diagnostic but if it is the recall issue they have to keep my car for safety. They do not have loaner vehicles but offered a rental for $50/day and no indication how long it would be before my vehicle would be repaired. Currently I have been waiting 10+ months (300+ days). If the repair takes another 300 days that would cost me $15,000 plus my monthly car payment. I believe Honda is encouraging people NOT to bring in their vehicles for repair, instead to continue driving a vehicle with known safety concerns.

Received safety recall in mail for fuel pump module. Letter from 10/2024 says that "parts are now available and you can bring your vehicle in for a free repair." Called Honda Oakland to get part replaced. Honda Oakland worker Colin said letter is incorrect, that no parts are available and to wait for another letter in mail. Called San Leandro Oakland because thought that Colin's comment was strange. Letter already says "parts are now available." It wouldn't make sense for me to wait for another letter. Turns out Colin from Honda Oakland provided misinformation, which could have gotten me into a car accident waiting for another letter that would never come and waiting for months and months to get my fuel pump replaced. Thankfully, confirmed with San Leandro Oakland that parts are available and ok to take car in immediately. Honda Oakland needs to provide correct info to customers, and not tell them to "wait for another letter." They should have just said to check with another dealership if they didn't have the part available. Although, it's strange they don't have the part available, when the Recall Letter I received says "parts are now available." Please contact Honda Oakland to stop misinforming customers to "wait for another letter in the mail," which doesn't even make sense, since I already got a letter saying parts available. Dangerous comment to customers. Perhaps Honda Oakland just doesn't want to deal with recalls? Need to file this complaint to protect other customers who might have listened to Colin and waited several more months for another letter that would never come. They should just tell customer to check with another dealership.

IN JULY 2020 I TOOK MY CAR TO LANCASTER HONDA IN LANCASTER, CA FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. THEY POINTED OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND THEY WOULD ORDER THE PART AND CALL ME TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE REPAIR. NOTHING HAPPENED. IN OCTOBER 2020 I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE RECALL REPAIR STATING EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED DONE. THE DAY BEFORE THEY CALLED TO CONFIRM THE APPOINTMENT. I TOOK THE CAR IN ON THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT DAY AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT SAID NO PART HAD BEEN ORDERED AND THE REPAIR COULD NOT BE DONE. I SAID YOU CONFIRMED THE APPOINTMENT WITH ME SO WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT IF YOU DID NOT HAVE THE PART. HE APOLOGIZED AND SAID THEY WOULD ORDER THE PART AND CONTACT ME TO SCHDULE THE APPOINTMENT TO PUT IT IN. IT IS NOW MID NOVEMBER AND I HAVE STILL HEARD NOTHING FROM THE DEALERSHIP.

  • 11/13/2024· STEERING

I previously submitted a report to your agency on May 31, 2024 regarding my 2018 Honda Civic Sedan (VIN# provided) relating to what has been widely called a "sticky" steering action. After having one of their dealerships confirming there is a problem with my steering, I wrote Honda America on June 1, 2024 and advised them of that problem and requested my vehicle be added to a recall program that has included other Honda Civic's in the same manufacturing date range as my vehicle. Honda refused. To further confirm and document that my vehicle suffers from this problem, I took my vehicle to another local Honda dealer, who also confirmed my vehicle suffers from this problem. By letter of October 30, 2024 I again wrote Honda America and appealed for them to repair this dangerous steering problem. I must continue to drive this vehicle with this serious problem, and I am writing this to document my communications with Honda, and hope that your agency will intervene with Honda to add my vehicle to a recall program. To be clear, the internet is full of owners of the same year and make of my vehicle who are having the same problem with their steering. Thank You

MY 2018 HONDA CIVIC IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD AND HAS AROUND 5,000 MILES. I DROVE 25 MINUTES TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER. I PARKED ON A CITY STREET. IMMEDIATELY, AS I SHIFTED THE CAR INTO PARK, PEOPLE ON THE STREET STARTED SCREAMING AT ME TO GET OUT OF THE CAR BECAUSE IT WAS ON FIRE. THE UNDERNEATH OF THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. AS I WAITED FOR THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT, THE FIRE SPREAD TO THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE CAR AND ENGULFED IT. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY SOMETHING MECHANICAL. THERE IS A POLICE REPORT BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO OBTAIN A COPY YET. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES/PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR LEADING UP TO THE FIRE.
