The contact was advised that the coolant intrusion was responsible for the failure and that the engine would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.

  The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 20 MPH in a parking lot, the brakes became inoperable. The low brake fluid warning light illuminated after the failure. The driver was able to drive safely to her residence. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact called the local dealer, who confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the front driver-side and passenger-side brake hoses needed to be replaced. The mechanic replaced the parts. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.

  Car has a defect that causes coolant to leak into the engine’s cylinders, which can caused corrosion, oil dilution and contamination, and engine failure. Ford failed to disclose these defects and created a safety risk, because the lack of coolant created by the leaks caused overheating and resulted in total engine failure. Car is available for inspection. Mechanic has confirmed car needs a new engine. See attached. Car has not been inspected by any others. ' The car has multiple error codes indicating failure.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

The vehicle was then taken to a second dealer, Groove Ford (10039 E Arapahoe Rd, Centennial, CO 80112), who diagnosed that coolant was leaking into the engine oil. The second dealer determined that an unknown part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

  The coils kept popping up check engine light. And turns out it was an injector failing, and cause my car to jerk a lot, and not accelerate when needing. My car would almost try to stop accelerating while on highway and jerk so much that it felt like I was going to wreck on the middle of a freeway.

  I JUST PURCHASED A NEW 2018 FORD EDGE. THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM WITH NIGHT DRIVING, THEY ARE UNSAFE. SHOWS BARELY ENOUGH LIGHT ( NO BRIGHTER THAN A STREET LIGHT). YOU CAN BARELY FOLLOW THE CENTER LINE. AFTER 100 YEARS IN BUSINESS, YOU WOULD THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHEN PURCHASING A NEW VEHICLE. I THINK THE LOW BEAM LIGHTING SHOULD BE REPLACED WHAT A BRIGHTER LED LIGHTING. I'M CONCERNED WITH MY SAFETY AND MY FAMILY SAFETY. I CAN NOT SEE HOW HIS WAS OVERLOOKED BY THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF MAKING SURE A CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE IN ALL CONDITIONS.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 65,000.

After a visual inspection of the engine compartment, the contact observed that the coolant reservoir was abnormally low. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that there was coolant intrusion into the engine causing damage to the engine and a misfire in cylinder #4. The contact was informed that the long block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N12. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 107,000.

  The car has 64,000 mi on it. They had to change the long block because of coolant infusion into the number 2 cylinder. They denied my lifetime warranty because I had the oil changed at the dealership twice at 6 months and 2 weeks. I had the oil changed religiously at 5, 000 or less miles at the dealership where I bought the car, Ricart Ford. Also they denied it because I changed the cabin air filter on my own.

  Check engine light came on and I checked the code with a reader. The code came up to a cylinder 2 misfire. Made an appointment with local dealership for diagnostic of the issue. Before the appointment was able to happen the check engine light went off. Appointment cancelled and 2 days later the check engine light came back on so made a new appointment. Continued to drive car with no issues. Brought car in for service and received a report back that cylinder 2 & 3 misfire and was advised coolant leaking into the engine and recommended repair is a new engine. After a quick google search found that this is a widespread issue with this engine.

  In September 2024 (just over 68k miles) my check engine light came on in my 2018 Ford Edge, car overheated, smoke from tailpipe and would no longer run. I had it towed to the dealership where it was determined that it needed a whole new engine. This is the same engine that is recalled or warranty extended for the Escape but not the Edge! 2 weeks later, I paid thousands of dollars to have the engine replaced. Today, less than 3 months later and only a few hundred miles after a new engine- the check engine light is flashing and the vehicle is sputtering. This vehicle is used to transport our children and get us to/from work. This is completely unacceptable and unsafe. The vehicle is, once again, unable to be driven. I have contacted Ford Customer Service who has advised we make another dealership appointment and they are not open currently. Something needs to be done about this vehicle!

  Car went into limp mode and over temp light came on. Coolant reservoir empty. Research led to TSB 19-2346. Prior to this CEL was coming on and off and throwing code P0301 errors. Replaced plugs and coil packs at the suggestion of the dealer but made no different. Started out with rough idle but smoothed out after about 30 seconds. Dealer diagnosed issue and quoted $6,900.00 plus tax to install new long block. Safety concern is the engine started to overheat. Fortuantely we stopped before anything serious happened, but found several reports online of this causing engine fire and destroying the car.

  The headlights are so dim that the vehicle is almost unsafe to drive at night time. This is especially true while driving in rain or snow at night. I have different strengths of headlights nothing helps. My family is at the point of not wanting to ride anywhere with me in the vehicle at night time. This past weekend it was raining when we left family and driving 20 miles in rain and night on low beam my girlfriend said she will never ride again at night. We live in an area where deer and other animals are often near the road at night time. This 2018 Ford Edge has even me a military veteran almost too scared to drive the vehicle at night time!! PLEASE HELP make Ford remedy this problem before people die!!! There seems to be some sort of opaque lens in front of the low beam headlight bulb and it seems to make is so the low beam is unable to give the vehicle any good lighting on low beam at night time.

  The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated while responding. The contact stated that the failure progressively worsened. The contact also noticed that the vehicle was experiencing excessive coolant consumption. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle experienced a rough start and was shuddering temporarily. Additionally, the contact stated while attempting to drive from a complete stop onto the road, the message "Caution - Coolant Temperature Overheat" was displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The contact stated that upon depressing the accelerator pedal again the vehicle was sputtering and was significantly sluggish. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to accelerate to 30 MPH after driving for 1 mile. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion in the cylinders. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered to partially cover the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

  Only have about 13600 miles on my 2018 Edge and the battery drains down about .5 v overnight. Could not start in in my garage after 4 days of sitting, charged it up and took it to the Ford dealer where they did a load test on the battery, it tested at 89%. I did a load test with a multimeter with the same results. Dealer told me to keep a trickle charger on it because I didn't drive it enough which was a poor answer. There is a NHTSA #18V54800 out there and a Ford recall #18S25 that does not include my SUV but it could have the same problem. Looking on line there are others with the same issues with the battery going dead just by sitting and in most cases changing out batteries was not the cure and it seemed Ford offered no resolve. If this is a problem caused by a loose connection or a short it could indeed become a bigger safety issue. My vehicle was built at the same plant as stated on the Ford recall # and it should be considered a safety issue for all Edges of the model year of 2018 made a that plant. I'm not sure this is my problem but I need to start somewhere noting that it's happened to others besides me. Thank you for any help in this matter

  Ford has a known problem with Ecoboost engines can leak coolant into the engine’s valves. This happened to our vehicle and we had to replace the engine due to misfiring cylinders. The check engine light kept coming on. We intially replaced all spark plugs and coils. Then after that didn't resolve the problem, the entire engine had to be replaced.

  The vehicle would run rough and falter upon cold start. The "check engine" light activated. The code indicated a misfire in cylinder #2 "permanent". The local Ford Dealership diagnosed the issue and informed me that coolant was getting into the cylinder and could eventually cause the engine to fail and pose a safety issue. The vehicle probably had 74,000 or less when I first noticed the symptoms. Initially, I replaced all the ignition coils and spark plugs, but it did not resolve the issue. At time of engine replacement, the vehicle had 76,195 miles on the odometer.

  My ford edge has a problem where coolant mysteriously disappears a flood like it’s getting vacuumed into engine cylinders causing the engine to run rough with white smoke coming from exhaust. This is on my 2.0l turbocharged ecoboost engine and I have already seen other consumer reports about other having the same issue all over social media and Ford will not do anything about it and will charge you almost $10,000 dollars for something that was their fault. They made a mistake in creating the engine block and thus now many people are suffering because of this.

  My 2018 Ford edge is needing an engine replacement. This is related to a technical service bulletin that Ford motor company released in December of 2019. TSB, 19-2346 and TSB22-2229. I am still covered under an extended warranty and powertrain warranty but they warranty companies are telling me because I had one oil change laps by 1,900 miles that it is not covered under warranty. Regardless, if it is covered under warranty or not, this should be something that Ford motor company pays for. Considering it is a known issue, there are open class action, lawsuits, and open forms about these recalls that haven't yet been called recalls.

  When refueling and the engine is on the revolutions (rpm) go up and down and then engine will turn off by itself. It then takes 2 to 5 minutes to restart engine and then you have to raise the rpm’s until it’s drivable. During this process you can also smell fuel from gas tank area.

  2.0L EcoBoost engine - while driving the 2018 Ford Edge with approximately 50K miles, the vehicle displayed a rapid overtemp condition and then a check engine light for a misfire on cylinder 2. Coolant was almost empty and I re-filled the resivoir and dealer reset the check engine light. This happened about two more times with the coolant resivoir along with multiple check engine lights for the #2 cylinder. Each time the Ford dealer reset the check engine light for the #2 cylinder but did not give information about why the coolant level was dropping to almost zero. I went to a different dealer who referred me to the Ford TCB 22-2229. I Spoke to Ford customer service directly and the engine long block was replaced at my expense since Ford would not pay for the repair.

  The car has difficulty staying started after filling up with fuel. It does settle out but it is getting worse.. Today, it shut off while moving after just being filled up. Apparently, the fuel purge valve is going bad. This should be a recall of some sort since it seems to be a common problem with this vehicle. An expensive problem.

The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 48,570.

FORD SHOULD REPLACE THESE ENGINES BEFORE WARRANTY EXPIRE AS THEY ARE APPEAR PROBLEMATIC.

  The lug nuts are bulging and won't come off which as needed then the wheel can't as well. Just had new tires put on which the shop had to destroy one to get the wheel off. If a flat tire occurred I would not be able to take off a wheel and change it. I have heard this is a problem on the design for many Ford vehicles.

The manufacturer was notified but no additional assistance was provided and referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.

  The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the infotainment system screen displayed both the forward and rearview images simultaneously. In addition, the contact stated that the buttons on the infotainment system were lagging and were sometimes inoperable while pressed. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure was related to an unrepaired recall. The dealer declined to inspect the vehicle at the time. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact later received a call from the dealer to schedule the recall repair for June 2026, when the parts were scheduled to be available. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive with the forward and rearview images displayed on the infotainment system screen simultaneously, and the contact could not wait until June 2026. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the failure was not related to the unrepaired recall. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

  AT RANDOM TIMES (NO CONSISTENCY) AS WE ARE DRIVING OR AT INITIAL START UP, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL BLACK OUT WITH NO COMMUNICATION ALONG WITH AN OCCASION "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK" MESSAGE THAT APPEARS. RADIO IS LOST AS WELL. I HAVE RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR WARRANTY REPAIR FOR THE 4TH TIME IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS WITH NO RESOLUTION. INITIAL REPAIR WAS A LOOSE WIRE, SAME ISSUE APPEARED LESS THAN A WEEK LATER. 2ND REPAIR THE DEALER "FLASHED" THE BCM. SAME ISSUE APPEARED THE NEXT DAY. THIRD REPAIR, THE BCM WAS REPLACED. LESS THAN 2 DAYS LATER, SAME ISSUE APPEARED. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AGAIN AND I WAS TOLD THAT FORD ENGINEERING NOW HAS TO GET INVOLVED AS THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE.

  The defect involves the engine block or cylinder head design, which allows engine coolant to intrude into the engine's combustion cylinders. Coolant mixing with the engine oil will cause a catastrophic failure and can lead to an engine fire. Ford has issued Technical Service Bulletins TSB 19-2346 but it does not cover any cost and no recalls have been issued. This is a known manufacturing defect in which Ford is taking no accountability.

  I am told my torque converter clutch is slipping, and I am recommended to replace my torque converter and pump despite the vehicle having only 64,000 miles driven. Transmission parts are failing despite having a relatively young car. The vehicle was inspected at a Ford dealership and a diagnostic was performed to find this defect. I have investigated if there is an open recall for my VIN and none appear, although the torque converter on 2018 Ford Edge Titanium vehicles have recalls on them. Prior to the failure, a wrench icon as well as the check engine light were turning on and off between uses of the vehicle. These icons both turned off prior to bringing my vehicle to the dealership, indicating to me that there was no longer an issue present, though the dealership stated through their diagnostic that there indeed was still an issue with the transmission.

  2018 Ford Edge with 119K miles. Issue has been determined to be the known issue of coolant intrusion into the cylinders. The issue was noticed while stopped at a traffic light, vehicle started "reving" and showed RPM fluctuations. On two separate occasions, the vehicle lost all ability to accelerate while driving. It's also has white smoke coming out of the exhaust and has been losing coolant at an alarming rate. After multiple inspections and other attempted fixes (water pump replacement, spark plugs replaced, fuel pump replaced), it's been determined that the coolant intrusion is to blame. The vehicle is deemed unsafe to drive in the current state and extended warranty is no longer in affect due to the mileage.
