- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRINGCampaign 18V332000 · 17/05/2018
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
Risk: If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:FRONT UNDERHOODCampaign 18V524000 · 09/08/2018
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Renegade, Compass and Grand Cherokee, RAM 1500 and Promaster, Fiat 500x, Dodge Journey, Challenger, Charger and Durango and Chrysler 300x vehicles, 2017-2018 Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country vehicles and 2018-2019 Jeep Cherokee and 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid vehicles. The powertrain control module may be equipped with a voltage regulator chip in the circuit board that may fail, causing a stall or a no start condition.
Risk: A vehicle stall can increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began October 2, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U87.
- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:CONTROL UNIT/MODULECampaign 22V426000 · 09/06/2022
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles. A malfunction in the antilock-brake system (ABS) module may illuminate the brake lights, and allow the vehicle to start and shift out of Park without the brake pedal being applied.
Risk: A vehicle that starts and shifts out of Park without applying the brake pedal can result in vehicle rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash without prior warning and/or injury to others outside of the vehicle.
Fix: This recall is replaced by NHTSA recall number 24V838. Vehicles already repaired under this recall will need to have the new remedy completed. The remedy includes updated HCU/ABS module software that prevents the HCU/ABS module from falsely reading pressure in the primary circuit. FCA has decided to do a two-Phase Campaign remedy schedule. Phase 1 began November 17, 2022. Phase 2 begin date has not been determined yet. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed July 28, 2020. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 29, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is Z48.
- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:CONTROL UNIT/MODULECampaign 24V838000 · 07/11/2024
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles. A malfunction in the antilock-brake system (ABS) module may incorrectly illuminate the brake lights and disable the ABS and electronic stability control (ESC). In addition, the vehicle operator may be able to start and shift out of Park without the brake pedal being applied.
Risk: A vehicle that can be started and shifted out of Park without applying the brake pedal can result in a vehicle rollaway. Disabled ABS and ESC systems can reduce vehicle handling and control in certain driving situations. Brake lights that incorrectly illuminate can fail to properly indicate the driver's intention to following traffic. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the integrated pressure transducer and update the ABS module software, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 16, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 94B. This recall replaces previous recall number 22V-426. Vehicles previously remedied under 22V-426 will need to have the new remedy completed.
- POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONCampaign 18V280000 · 01/05/2018
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Dodge Charger, Durango and Challenger, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler, Chrysler 300, and RAM 1500 vehicles. An incorrect transmission park lock rod may have been installed in the transmission.
Risk: If the incorrect park lock rod is installed, the transmission may not shift into 'PARK' and keep the vehicle from moving, increasing the risk of unintended vehicle movement and the risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install the correct park lock rod, free of charge. The recall began June 28, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U43.

I bought this car, brand new off the dealer and it has been in perfect shape until 120,000 miles. All of a sudden the check engine light comes in and turns out it was the head gasket!! 5 years old, hasn't needed a thing and the mechanic tells me I need a new engine!? What good is it if I buy a brand new car and take perfect care of it all to end up with the engine going to [XXX]. I have heard other people saying the same thing with their 3.6l pentastar engine. AT 120K...I don't see that being a coincidence if it keeps happening with the SAME engine at the SAME AMOUNT OF MILES. There is definitely a problem here. P.s won't let me upload documents on the mechanics diagnosis. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle tail light housings (3ea) are not adequately sealed and protected from the elements and allow water/debris to intrude. Water accumulation has caused dimming and shorting of lights. Dodge customer service was contacted and stated they are not currently and will not warranty repair.

The racetrack and the tail light do not work at all. I went to get my Durango inspected and they couldn't do it due to this issue. There was water coming out of the hatch when a mechanic was looking at this problem. I was told even if I spent a lot of money to fix it, it probably would repeat itself. My car has not been inspected for over month due to this issue.
- 12/26/2023· EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The sunroof bursted and shattered in what can only be described as an explosion. Driver and passenger were occupying the vehicle at the time the sunroof broke. The vehicle was operated in a standard manner and driven on a highway. The sunroof without having observed any cracks or dings shattered without warning. The resolving explosive noise scared both the driver and passenger, which in itself could lead to an accident if the driver had reacted differently. Some of the shattered glass fell on the occupants. The majority of the glass from the sunroof lifted off and crash down on the road behind the vehicle. The drivers brother was able to witness in his rare view mirror the moment when the glass lifted off and flew over the back of the affected vehicle. There were no vehicles driving behind the affected vehicle at the time, but the glass could have created a safety hazard to people behind and in the vicinity of the affected vehicle. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, but so far to the knowledge of the owners or the affected vehicle a comparable situation has not been a reported issue at their preferred dealer. The damage is still being dealt with and at this time has not been inspected by anyone. Again the sunroof bursted without any warning signs. There was just suddenly a bang that can only be compared to a gun shot.

The Uconnect Radio has started to delaminate and causes the system to randomly change between radio, satellite radio, navigation, clock, etc. This fully integrated system also controls A/C, Heat, rear backup camera, all adjustable functions in the vehicle, and is unsafe when this happens. Dealership offers to update the radio but it has nothing to do with the software it's the touchscreen. Diagnosis and repair is around $1500.00 to $2000.00 not covered under warranty. This issue is with all models of Dodge Chrysler with 8.4" Uconnet radios as seen in the online forums.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE. I LOOKED IN MY MIRRORS AND SAW A PIECE OF MY CAR IN THE MIRROR. IT WAS THE PLASTIC PIECE OFF MY DOOR. I COULDN'T STOP BEING ON THE HIGHWAY LUCKY THAT IT DIDN'T HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, SAM LEMAN IN MORTON ILLINOIS WHERE I WAS TOLD THIS HAPPENS WITH DURANGOS, BEING BLOWED OFF. TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO OTHER VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY IF A MOTORCYCLE WAS BEHIND ME. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH LACK OF CARE FROM THE DEALERSHIP, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED FROM DODGE AS IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.

I was driving to work and when I turned into my job the steering wheel became hard. I parked my truck turned it off and turned it back on and all of my dashboard lights came on and didn’t go away. The truck would not go into any gear. Initially, we thought it was a battery problem so they changed out the battery all the lights turned off but my truck is still not going into any gears. I was told due to the recall my truck is making it seem like I’m not pressing down on my break so I can’t shift gears and I cannot drive my truck. I called Chrysler and they told me that the only thing they could do was give me a rental that I had to pay $50 every day which I don’t think that’s fair because my truck isn’t working due to a recall that I didn’t cause. I don’t need reimbursement or any of that. I need a car. They told me that the car part might come in the first week of December that’s three weeks without a car. I need a vehicle.

While driving on the Thruway, the vehicle tends to misfire which results in lost power to the engine and shaking of the vehicle. The check engine light starts flashing and it becomes unsafe to maintain speeds. The issue was diagnosed as Cylinder 5 Misfire caused by camshaft and lifter failure. This sudden loss of power while driving at highway speeds could cause an accident if it happens during traffic or passing situations. This is a known issue with the 2018 Dodge Durango GT V6 and should be a recall on the vehicle. This is a major engine issue.

NHTSA recall No. 23E-019 covers the replacement of defective Hydraulic Control Unit / Anti-Lock Brake System part No. 68085397AB built with a Julian Date code between 8166 and 9106. Bullet point number 6 in the 'chronology' of 23E-019 states "suspect service parts were not used in vehicle production". I disagree. While in the dealership for recall No. 22V-426 to re-program Hydraulic Control Unit / Anti-Lock Brake System parts No. 68085397AB and 68442478AB, I was told both those parts are now bad and need replacing. The Hydraulic Control Unit / Anti-Lock Brake System part No. 68085397AB taken off my vehicle has a date code of 8201. This is within the defective date range that was not supposed to be used in vehicle production. We bought the car new and it's never been in for any brake related work. 10/28/2024 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of Defects Investigation Subject: Report of Safety Issue - Dodge Uconnect Radio Malfunction The infotainment system in my Dodge vehicle, equipped with Uconnect radio, has malfunctioned, affecting safe operation. The radio’s touchscreen has a “delaminating” defect, as described by a Dodge technician, causing erratic, uncommanded screen activity, sometimes leading to unintentional actions such as an inadvertent 911 call. This random, uncontrollable behavior affects critical functions like navigation, radio, and climate controls, creating a significant safety risk by distracting the driver. The issue also impacts the rear-view camera when the screen freezes. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a Dodge technician as a screen delamination defect, who noted this is a recurring issue with Uconnect in Dodge vehicles. No other entities, such as police or insurance representatives, have inspected the component, but the dealership quoted $900 for repairs since my vehicle is no longer under warranty. Given that this defect is widespread and the financial impact is substantial, I am filing this report in hopes of a broader resolution. No specific warning lamps or dashboard messages indicated the problem before it began. The erratic behavior first occurred during normal operation and has continued intermittently. I believe this issue should be investigated as it presents a serious safety concern for Dodge owners. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The tailgate light has gone out on my 2018 Dodge Durango R/T. Researching online has lead me to discover that this is a known issue that is costing customers thousands of dollars due to a known design flaw. The tailgate light goes out and usually leads to the brake lights and backup camera going out. I do not know when the brakes lights may glitch or go out which can cause an accident. I asked the service person at the dealership about the tailgate issue in May of 2025 when the tailgate light was intermittently going in and out. I was told to call the 800 customer service number. There’s no warning for the tailgate light failing and leading to the failure of the brake lights and backup camera.

The LCD Screen for my computer has an awkward spot in the top right corner when I bought my vehicle (which only had a very few miles on it). I thought it was just cosmetic and didn't worry much about it. Eventually, the awkward spot spread into a crack across the top of the screen. I have read online that this is a known problem that occurs on many of the vehicles of the same year and make. The screen began to perform on its own, it pushes multiple buttons constantly. This is more than an irritation it is a safety hazard for my family. The screen controls my heat and air, it turns the heat up and down, from hot to cold and hot again. I cannot defrost my windshield, as the air flow continues to switch from blower to blower. The seat warmers turn on and off. I am unable to control them, and my passengers can be burned. My backup camera does not function properly effecting the safety of everyone around us. The screen has pushed emergency call more than once. and totally controls my phone making calls and randomly hanging up on calls as well as muting or turning on and off apps. This is very dangerous for me, as the driver, trying to grab my phone and stop the emergency calls and other things. I cannot start my car using the auto start to warm up and defrost because the vehicle will not stay on defrost it will continuously switch around. The uconnect usually warns me of traffic hazards and storms in my area, as well as posting the speed limit and directions on the screen. Without these items, I put myself and my passengers at risk each time we are in the car. According to many dodge, durango, and general safety forums and blogs I have read, this is a common problem in this vehicle. This should be a safety recall for many reasons. How can I make a claim to get this replaced at no cost.

WHILE PARKED OVERNIGHT, ONE OF THE MAP LIGHTS CAME ON AND COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. THE OVERHEAD CONTROL PANEL WAS REPLACED DUE TO AN OPEN CIRCUIT. MOST RECENTLY, WHEN SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, THE "R" INDICATOR ON THE SHIFTER AND DISPLAY WOULD BLINK AND THE CAR ACTED AS THOUGH IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE ENGINE WOULD REV, BUT THE VEHICLE WON'T REVERSE. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON BOTH A FLAT SURFACE WHILE TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A DRIVEWAY AND ONCE ON A HILL WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. WHILE ON THE HILL, THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD WHILE ENGAGED IN REVERSE. WE DO HAVE A VIDEO BUT ARE UNABLE TO UPLOAD.

My radio screen cover is separating and looks like a big air bubble which causes the radio system to change stations and the system is not usable. So when you’re using the navigation system it cuts off the navigation system and the whole system starts to reboot. I was backing up in a reboot and he couldn’t and it affected the back up camera. I went to the dealer in Waldorf Maryland, and they told me that they had several people who complained about this the attendant said they had at least one a day they came here for that problem.

The radio is started to ghost touch which means that it is randomly choosing anything on the screen. Because it controls many of the cars features, it can cause things to get out of control while trying to drive. I have video which I couldn't upload.

The 8.4 inch Uconnect system will malfunction causing it to randomly press things on the screen. This can cause it to raise the temperature to HIGH with you unable to turn it off. In doing so can be detrimental to the driver because they then become distracted from the road due to the incredibly high temperatures. This is happening for all 8.4 Uconnect systems across all models.

WITH LESS THAN 4000 MILES ON MY BRAND NEW CAR, THE TRANSMISSION DROPS FROM 8TH GEAR TO NEUTRAL (AND WOULD GO FROM REVERSE TO NEUTRAL) AND LOSE ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINE WILL REV AND NOTHING HAPPENS. YOU HAVE TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO GET IT TO WORK AGAIN. IT HAPPENED WHILE MAKING TURNS (LEFT AND RIGHT), DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, REVERSING, PULLING OUT OF PARKING SPACES, ON CITY STREETS, HIGHWAYS AND INTERSTATES, AND WHILE STATIONARY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES (AFTER BEING SERVICED) AND NEARLY CAUSING ACCIDENTS. AT ONE POINT, I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 80MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, IN TRAFFIC, AND THE TRANSMISSION DROPPED TO NEUTRAL WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. THE ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT STAY ON. I HAVE DONE A LITTLE RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND WHERE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MULTIPLE NEW DODGE DURANGO OWNERS. I CAN GET COPIES OF THE SERVICE RECORDS IF NEEDED. *DT *JS *DT CONSUMER STATED ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 11/7/18*JB
