The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan has electronic sliding doors. The doors do not always shut when the button is pressed or handle is pulled. Sometimes it takes 4 to 10 tries to get the sliding door to shut and latch. The Chrysler owner's forum says this problem can be fixed by having the dealer reprogram the door software to make the door close with a little more force. This problem started at 36000 miles, I now have 46700 miles on the van. One owner van that I bough brand new in 2018.

  • 12/26/2018· POWER TRAIN,ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)

VAN INITIALLY PARKED AND OFF. I PRESSED THE BRAKE AND THE START BUTTON TO TURN IT ON AND IT ENTERED INTO A CONFUSED UNKNOWN-GEAR-STATE (ALL TRANSMISSIONS LIGHTS P, D, R, ETC. ILLUMINATED). IN THIS STATE, THE VAN IS STUCK. NOTHING WORKS BECAUSE IT DOESN'T THINK IT IS IN PARK. SPECIFIC EXAMPLES: VAN CANNOT BE PUT INTO NEUTRAL OR PARK (TRANSMISSION KNOB/DIAL IS STUCK WHEN VAN IS IN THIS STATE), LIFT GATE CANNOT BE OPENED, POWER SLIDING DOORS MUST BE OPENED MANUALLY, VAN CANNOT BE TURNED OFF, VAN CANNOT BE DRIVEN OR MOVED. THE VAN IS EFFECTIVELY IMMOBILIZED AND CAN ONLY BE MOVED BY A A FLATBED TOW OR A TOW TRUCK WITH A SPECIAL DOLLY. BECAUSE THE VAN CANNOT BE TURNED OFF, ITS BATTERIES WILL EVENTUALLY DIE. I'M UNSURE IF THIS HAS ANY DELETERIOUS EFFECTS ON THE HYBRID BATTERY. THE PROBLEM IS HARD TO REPRODUCE AND INTERMITTENT. BECAUSE OF THAT, MY GUESS IS THAT IT IS A TIMING RELATED SOFTWARE/SYSTEMS BUG, BUT THAT IS ONLY MY GUESS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN ABOUT 7MONTHS OR SO OF OWNING THE VAN THAT THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED. THE FIRST TIME, WE WERE STRANDED HOURS AWAY FROM HOME ON A FAMILY ROAD TRIP. THE DEALER WE TOOK IT TO COULDN'T (OR DIDN'T TRY HARD?) TO FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE AND CLAIMED THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE BATTERY DIED (THE BATTERY DYING IS A RESULT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, NOT THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM!). THEY PUT IN A NEW BATTERY AND SENT US ON OUR WAY. NOW, HERE WE ARE A FEW MONTHS LATER WITH THE ISSUE OCCURRING AGAIN. IT TAKES ONLY A LITTLE IMAGINATION TO THINK ABOUT ALL THE HORRIBLE THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN A CAR LEAVES YOU STRANDED IN THE WRONG PLACE OR IN ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS. THIS ISN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN WITH A BRAND NEW CAR.

The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The contact stated while driving approximately 75 MPH in hot weather, the vehicle went into a "Turtle Mode" and decelerated to 38 MPH. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V077000 (Hybrid Propulsion System) and the vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Town Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (1001 N Miller St, Wenatchee, WA 98801) for the recall repair. However, the dealer was unable to fully drain the battery for the recall repair after several attempts. The dealer informed the contact that the battery could not be drained as needed and because the engine was continually activating. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

THIS MORNING I ENTERED THE CAR WITH A PASSENGER AND NEITHER FRONT DOOR WOULD LATCH SHUT. THE DOOR WOULD REGISTER TO THE CAR AS CLOSED WHEN PULLED SHUT, BUT IT WOULD NOT PHYSICALLY LATCH. THE CAR WAS TURNED ON AND OFF, THE DOORS WERE LOCKED AND UNLOCKED, AND THE DOOR WAS REPEATEDLY OPENED AND SHUT, AND IT STILL WOULDN'T LATCH. AFTER ABOUT 4-5 MINUTES, THE DRIVER DOOR SUCCESSFULLY LATCHED. ANOTHER 5-10 MINUTES WAS REQUIRED ON THE PASSENGER DOOR BEFORE IT SUDDENLY STARTED LATCHING. THERE WAS NO OBVIOUS MANEUVER THAT PROCEEDED THE PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE LATCH. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE 23F THIS MORNING AND DRY. IT WAS DAMP THE NIGHT BEFORE AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOVE FREEZING, BUT DID NOT RAIN OVERNIGHT. CAR WAS GARAGED INDOORS THE DAY BEFORE BUT LEFT OUTSIDE IN THE DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT. THERE WAS A SLIGHT SOUND OF FROST GIVING WAY WHEN THE DOOR WAS FIRST OPENED THIS MORNING, BUT NO ICE BUILDUP.

  • 12/18/2019· STRUCTURE

I OPENED THE HOOD TO CHECK SOMETHING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AND AFTERWARDS THE HOOD WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT. NEITHER THE PRIMARY OR SECONDARY LATCH WOULD HOLD THE HOOD DOWN. SINCE I WAS TRAVELING, I LOCATED A TOOL TO TRY TO MANEUVER DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE LATCH MECHANISM TO ATTEMPT TO GET IT TO HOLD. IT WAS VERIFIED THAT THE CABLE TO OPEN THE LATCH FROM THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF OPENING AND CLOSING AND PUSHING ON VARIOUS LATCH PARTS, THE HOOD FINALLY LATCHED SHUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER UPON MY RETURN HOME, AND THEY REPLACED THE LATCH MECHANISM.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE EMITTED A BURNING ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LIA CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM NORTHAMPTON (263 KING STREET, NORTHAMPTON, MA 01060, (855) 315-8182) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE BURNING ODOR. THE DEALER FOUND THAT THE BATTERY WAS DISCHARGED. THE BATTERY WAS RECHARGED, BUT NOT REPLACED. THE ODOR RECURRED WHILE DRIVING HOME AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BAYSIDE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (212 NORTHERN BLVD, BAYSIDE, NY 11361, (718) 229-8700) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS CLOGGED AND WAS NOT PERFORMING NORMALLY. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V740000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THIS PAST MONDAY/TUESDAY WE HAVE THE U94 RECALL SERVICE PERFORMED, WE ALSO HAD THE FIRST RECALL UPDATE DONE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. U94 WAS COMPLETED, AND NO ISSUES WERE NOTED WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. CAR WAS PICKED UP TUESDAY, BUT WEDNESDAY MY WIFE (WHO NORMALLY DRIVES THE VEHICLE) NOTED THAT IT SMELLED A BIT LIKE BURNING RUBBER WHEN SHE WAS DRIVING. I DROVE THE CAR TODAY TO CHECK THINGS OUT AND AFTER ABOUT 45 MILES OF DRIVING WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR A BIT DEEPER TO MAINTAIN HIGHWAY SPEED DURING A MEDIUM GRADE CLIMB I DIDN'T NOTICE ANY INCREASE IN POWER. AT THE SAME TIME I HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND WHICH I INITIALLY THOUGHT WAS ME RUNNING OVER SOMETHING IN THE ROAD (THERE WAS TRUCK TIRE DEBRIS). I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR MOMENTARILY TO CHECK THE ROAD AND ENSURE I WASN'T HITTING ANY RUBBER DEBRIS. I AGAIN PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR, BUT AGAIN ONLY ELECTRIC MOTOR POWER, AND NO EXTRA GRUNT FROM THE ICE. I EVEN FLIPPED THE HYBRID INFO SCREEN TO THE ONE THAT SHOWS THE BALANCE OF POWER FROM THE ELECTRIC MOTOR AND ICE. I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR A 3RD TIME AND SAW THE ELECTRIC MOTOR INDICATOR GO TO 100% POWER, AND AFTER A SECOND OR SO THE ICE INDICATOR ALSO WENT TO 100%, BUT STILL NO EXTRA BOOST OF POWER. AT THIS TIME I HEARD ANOTHER LOUD POP OR TWO, AND STARTED TO SMELL SMOKE. I REALIZED THERE WAS SOMETHING SERIOUS GOING ON WITH THE CAR. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND ONCE THE CAR WAS NO LONGER IN MOTION WITH AIRFLOW UNDER THE HOOD I COULD SEE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I JUMPED OUT AND POPPED THE HOOD AND WHAT I SAW WAS THE ENTIRE EXHAUST MANIFOLD / CATALYTIC CONVERTER AREA WAS GLOWING BRIGHT ORANGE AND SMOKE WAS EMANATING FROM SOMEWHERE DEEPER IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I CALLED 911, FORTUNATELY CAR DID NOT CATCH FIRE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER.

On [XXX], my vehicle produced a large red wrench and a turtle warning on a busy highway and I was forced to pull to the side with my [XXX] son in the car, as the vehicle lost motive power. It was towed to the dealer and after several days, they told me the issue was due to normal wear and tear in the transmission. I had to escalate to a service manager to even get a diagnosis after 5 days in the shop. I believe my transmission issue is due to a failure of the fix implemented in the 03A/NHTSA 23V-010 recall. It has been documented that the software update did not fix the issue. My vehicle experienced the exact series of failures described in the recall. Chrysler is refusing to fix my vehicle, even though they had extended the warranty on my Pacifica to unlimited miles/unlimited years because of all of the transmission issues the model has experienced. I would appreciate it if someone could look into this and Chrysler's unwillingness to stand behind their products and provide fixes for their recalls that work. The dealership failed to correctly implement the Z11 recall after I informed them that I had doubts that the recall was performed properly. The first time that the recall was attempted, they returned the vehicle with 0% charge on the batteries. This indicated that they did not fully perform the recall per the instruction. The second time they attempted the recall, they were not able to charge the vehicle. When they informed me that the vehicle was ready I was skeptical that the recall was fully performed since the amount of time between the failure to charge and it being ready was far too short to perform the recall properly. Today I was informed by Chrysler that the recall was indeed improperly performed. Chrysler put my family and home at risk through their ineptitude and carelessness when performing their own recall.

While driving at 60mph, vehicle shut off and would not allow me to accelerate. Error message displayed on speedometer, vehicle must be in park to shift gears. The PRNDL blue LED was flashing as well. Several indicator lights on my dashboard illuminated too. Vehicle has approximately 9300 miles on it. This is a pacifica e-hybrid. After pulling off the road I was able to restart and the van worked in “limp home” mode with the red turtle displayed. I then limped the van to a gas station, shut off the van, topped off the fuel tank which had been at 1/4 full, and after a few minutes restarted. After restart, only the yellow check engine light was displayed and the van operated normal. I have read a safety recall exists but Chrysler is saying it is not an active recall for my specific VIN even though I am experiencing the same problems as other owners. I am pretty sure it is associated with one of: 19V348000, 18V049000, or 18V524000. The dealer won’t repair this under recall since all my “active recalls” have been fixed. I can’t drive the vehicle safely but how can I get it fixed if Chrysler won’t repair the issue I am having. With no error codes saved, the dealer said unless it replicates while they have it they won’t be able to diagnose.

On Sunday, November 5, 2023, our 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid caught fire in our garage. Please refer to the attached PDF which details the incident. I have pictures and videos of the incident as well as a report from the fire department is being prepared. We have placed home and auto claims with our insurance provider, and we are also working with a disaster recovery company who is compiling a report on the damages and losses. - What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? My educated guess from what I witnessed and discussions with the firefighters is it was the car’s electric battery. - How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Refer to PDF; further would this have happened at night and as discussed with the fire department, the toxic smoke, heat, and fire/explosion would very likely have caused the situation to have a much more catastrophic outcome. - Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I do not know specifically; however, please note PDF related to NHTSA Recall # 20V-334 we had completed in September 2023. - Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Refer to PDF; after the fire was extinguished and at the directive of the fire department, the car was taken to a local salvage yard for safety/risk of reigniting. - Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Refer to PDF; no, there were no warning signs other than the smell that morning and the service charging system notification after I unplugged the vehicle. We had driven the van the previous day with no issues, and when my wife left the house around 930 that morning through the garage, she did not notice a smell or anything unusual.

I have a Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid which has had multiple recalls for the battery causing fires with no resolution. The NHTSA website said to submit a complaint "If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner". The most recent recall was in July without resolution but the battery has been recalled multiple times over the last few years without actual fix being done.

MY CAR PURCHASED IN 2018 FROM REED JEEP CHRYLSER IN OVERLAND PARK KANSAS. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2020, THE VEHICLE WAS IN HYBRID/ELECTRIC MODE AND STOPPED RUNNING AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. WE WERE DRIVING SLOWLY AND ABLE TO COAST TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WERE ABLE TO SAFELY LEAVE IT ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE RELATED TO THE STARTER OR BATTERY. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM WAS REVIEWED BY THE ENGINEERING TEAM WITH CHRYSLER AND IT WAS FOUND TO BE A COMPUTER ELECTRICAL HYBRID COMPONENT. ORIGINALLY, CHRYSLER ADVISED THEY HAD NO REPLACEMENT PART ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY. AFTER TWO WEEKS, THEY ADVISED THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO GET A COMPONENT FROM THE COMPONENT MANUFACTURER BUT THAT IT WOULD TAKE TIME. THE CAR REMAINED IN THE SERVICE CENTER FOR AT LEAST TWO ADDITIONAL WEEKS. THEY REPLACED THE REGULAR BATTERY AND PERFORMED RECALL ON OTHER COMPONENTS DURING THIS TIME AS WELL. A LITTLE OVER A MONTH LATER, THE SAME FAILURE/PROBLEM OCCURRED. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE AGAIN ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AND LEAVE IT. A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER, WE WERE ABLE TO START IT AND GET IT BACK TO OUR RESIDENCE. WE TRIED TO CHARGE IT USING THE 240V CHARGER WE HAD BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT TAKE ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGE EVEN THOUGH NOT FULLY CHARGED. THREE DAYS LATER, WE RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT AND WERE TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. OUR OVERARCHING CONCERN IS SAFETY, AS THERE IS NO WARNING AS TO WHEN THE CAR WILL SHUT DOWN.

Hi, I have owned this Chrysler Pacifica since 2018 and there have been multiple problems regarding the electrical system every single year and in 2022 it is twice. Every time it goes in for an electrical problem it takes greater than one month to fix the car. The current issue is the recall. My dealer says every other car with recall has been fixed in 2-3 days. Mine is already at 2 weeks. I have filed a Customer complaint with Chrysler and the current one is: 84472903. The one from earlier in 2022 is 82927664. Please contact Chrysler for the complete list of remaining customer complaints on this Chrysler of one each in 2021, 2020, 2019, and 2018

I was driving on a local road and car suddenly stopped running; accelarator unresponsive; power steering not working either. I was able to pull to side. Car said shift P to start , gear change didn't do anything and blinking, check engine light came up. And “check charging system” light came on. It was very dangerous. After 3-4 minutes I was able to get my car turn off and on and then it drove normal. So I decided to take it in nearby open parking area. It would restart but not do anything even if switched into drive or reverse. Check charging system light on and no power steering again. I had to get it to get it towed the next day from that lot. First tow truck unable to tow due to steering being locked. 2nd tow truck needed help to move car due to steering. Been at dealer for 30 days. They changed charging port but it didn’t work. Now they are changing battery. I don’t want this car back and don’t want to keep making payments on it either. It’s not a safe car.

PLEASE LOOK AT THE FACEBOOK GROUP "CHRYSLER PACIFICA HYBRID-FIRE RISK: READ GROUP ANNOUNCEMENT" FOR MULTIPLE PEOPLE REPORTING ABOUT THE ISSUE. The unresolved recall with no remedy stems from an earlier recall is entering its fourth month with no further communications from the manufacturer about the status of the remedy. There has been no compensation provided to car owners with increased carrying costs due to the manufacturing failures, decreased car valuation due to repeated failed attempts to remedy the same recall, nor indirect costs of extended stress and fear. I am unable to park my car by my house due to the fire risk, which has required me to buy monthly parking passes. I am unable to charge my car, which has caused increased gas costs. I previously paid to install a level 2 charger in my home, which I am unable to use. Additionally a concerning electrical noise has started to occur when starting the car or long after turning the car off. I am continually anxious about driving this car with my children, but I have no other choice to continually put all of us at risk. MY FAMILY AND I WERE RIDING ALONG AT 70 MPH AND SUDDENLY, THE LEFT SIDE ENERGY CONSUMPTION METER STARTED BOUNCING UP AND DOWN. SOME BURNT RUBBER SMELL CAME THROUGH THE VENTS AND THEN THE CAR JUST START SLOWING DOWN. I WAS LUCKY THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND ME AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT ACROSS 4 LANES TO THE RIGHT HAND SIDE SHOULDER. ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH WERE LIT BUT THE ENGINE DEPARTMENT OBVIOUSLY DEAD. I POWERED THE CAR DOWN AND TRIED TO CRANK IT AGAIN BUT THE COMPUTER WAS CONFUSED ABOUT WHICH GEAR I WAS IN. NOW, THE DASH ONLY SHOWED THE ENGINE LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT. AFTER TRYING THIS SEVERAL MORE TIMES, I GAVE UP AND CALLED THE FCA TOW TRUCK WHICH WAS A HORROR STORY ALL ON ITS OWN. TOOK ME LONGER TO GET AND FCA REP ONLINE AND CONVERSATION FINALIZED (30 MIN) THAN IT TOOK THE TOW TRUCK TO GET TO MY LOCATION (15 MIN). BEFORE THE TOW TRUCK GOT TO MY LOCATION, I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR IN GAS MODE AFTER IT DIED 45 MINUTES AGO AND HOBBLED OVER TO A GAS STATION A 200 FEET AWAY. THE SMELL WAS STILL PREVALENT AT THIS POINT. THE TOW TRUCK TOWED THE VAN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE I BOUGHT THE VAN (COVERT IN AUSTIN) WHICH JUST HAPPENED TO COINCIDE WITHIN THE 10 MILES TOWING LIMIT FOR MY CASE. THIS HAPPENED 10/6/2018. IT'S BEEN 9 DAYS AND MY VAN HASN'T BEEN LOOKED AT YET. APPARENTLY THERE AREN'T ENOUGH HYBRID TECHS TO GO AROUND. COVERT WHICH IS A LARGER FCA DEALERSHIP IN THE AUSTIN AREA ONLY HAS 2 TECHS. IN THE MEAN TIME, COVERT LENT ME A LOANER SINCE THE DAY I DROPPED THE VAN OFF. NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS OR WHEN IT WILL BE FIX. BUT THIS DOESN'T LOOK PROMISING.

Ours acted up under warranty, but the dealer was unable to reproduce it and later quoted us over $600 to replace it. This affects the ability to be seen during the daytime, is not covered under extended warranties, and we were not offered other remedies.

CAR REMAINED PURPENDICULAR TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC FOR APPROXIMATELY 2-4 MINUTES WHILE I TRIED TO RESTART ENGINE. 7-8 CARS BEGAN TO BACK UP ON EACH SIDE OF CAR CONTINUING TO CAUSE A INCREASINGLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. PURCHASED THIS CAR BASED ON SAFETY RATINGS AND HYBRID FEATURE WITH HOPES OF DRIVING IT FOR A MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS. COMPLETELY TERRIFIED TO PUT MY FAMILY BACK IN THE CAR AS THEY COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED DUE ONLY TO CAR MALFUNCTION, AS COULD HAVE THOSE THAT WERE IN THE PATH OF UNRESPONSIVE CAR. UNDER THE CALIFORNIA LEMON LAW I AM EXPECTED TO PUT MY FAMILY BACK INTO A CAR THAT IS DANGEROUS ONLY TO PROVE THAT IT ONCE AGAIN PUT MY FAMILY IN A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE TAKE THESE DANGEROUS CARS TO CAR MAX OR SELL THEM PRIVATELY, WITHOUT FULL DISCLOSURE, SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO PUT THEIR LOVED ONES AT RISK WITHOUT COMPLETELY LOSING $50,000.
