- AIR BAGSCampaign 25V432000 · 26/06/2025
General Motors (GM) is recalling certain 2018 GMC Sierra 1500, 2019 Sierra 2500, 3500, Chevrolet Silverado 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab vehicles. The left or right-side roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator or the inflator sidewall may rupture.
Risk: A detached end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape and project the end cap or fragments of the inflator into the vehicle, increases the risk of injury or crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the left and right side RRAB modules, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 23, 2025. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N252513060.
- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR/TONE RINGCampaign 19V761000 · 24/10/2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
Risk: Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

THE BRAKE PEDDLE WENT SOLID HARD AND LOSS OF BRAKING HAPPENED WHILE BACKING A BOAT TRAILER DOWN A BOAT LAUNCH RAMP. WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED THE DASH FLASHED SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST. LOSS OF POWER BRAKES CAUSED THE TRUCK TO NOT STOP EVEN WITH PUSHING DOWN ON THE PEDDLE AS HARD AS POSSIBLE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE COASTING IN REVERSE OFF OF THE THROTTLE USING THE BRAKE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE AND BOAT DOWN WHILE GOING DOWN THE LAUNCH RAMP IN REVERSE. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. I MANAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AT THE WATER LINE BY APPLYING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED REPLACED THE VACUUM PUMP UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO WEAK VACUUM. I LOST POWER BRAKES AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHEN BACKING DOWN AN INCLINE ON MY DRIVEWAY AT LOW SPEED. THE DASH FLASHED SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST AGAIN. RETURNED TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING AND TOOK A TECHNICIAN ON A TEST DRIVE WITH ME. SHOWED TECHNICIAN LOSS OF POWER BRAKES AND SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST MESSAGE ON DASH WHEN BRAKING IN REVERSE ON AN INCLINE. CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY CONTACTED CHEVROLET TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND REPLACED BRAKE BOOSTER AND REPLACED VACUUM PUMP FOR THE SECOND TIME. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK NEW IN NOVEMBER OF 2018. IT HAD 4 MILES ON IT. MY PREVIOUS TRUCK I OWNED FOR 10 YEARS. A 2000 GMC SIERRA, WHICH I MAINTAINED METICULOUSLY. I SOLD IT 452K MILES ON THE ORIGINAL ENGINE. SINCE I PURCHASE THE TRUCK THE TRANSMISSION HAS SHIFTED HARD ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS. I WON'T WRITE A REVIEW EXACTLY LIKE ALL THE OTHER TRANSMISSION REVIEWS, BUT THEY ARE SAME PROBLEMS I AM HAVING. GM NEEDS TO RECTIFY THIS ISSUE DUE TO THE NUMBER OF UNSATISFIED CUSTOMERS WITH A SUB PAR PRODUCT. I COULD HAVE BOUGHT ANY TRUCK I WANTED, AND I UNFORTUNATELY BOUGHT A SILVERADO WITH A TRANSMISSION THAT DOESN'T FUNCTION THE WAY A NEWER ONE SHOULD. ASIDE FROM THE MECHANICAL ISSUES IT CAUSES, IT IS EXTREMELY EMBARRASSING WITH PASSENGERS IN THE TRUCK. IT NEVER FAILS, THEY ALL SAY THE SAME EXACT THING...'WHAT WAS THAT?'...... Since purchase in 2018, my pickup truck has had a ticking and banging sound which includes rough idling and a check engine light. During routine maintenance, oil changes, etc. I have continued to ask about the noise but GM technicians have said nothing is wrong. In November 2025, i took the truck to a local shop for an oil change and that’s when I learned it has lifter issues. Upon investigating whether other Chevy Silverado truck owners are experiencing the same thing, I’ve learned about various recall and extended warranty programs offered by General Motors. I’m wondering when or if my 2018 Chevy Silverado might be included in a recall or could i be offered an extended warranty?

Bought the truck new. Never towed a trailer till well after warranty. Service trailer brake light keeps coming on continuously. Then no trailer lights or trailer brakes. Found 2 blown fuses but now the same thing is happening again. After my research I found tons of information that lots of other people are having the same issues. I have not pulled my RV since because I'm worried about it not having brakes. It's quite large and without them this truck would not be able to stop in case of a quick emergency.

I purchased this vehicle from Galles Chevrolet in Albuquerque New Mexico as a certified pre owned vehicle. Couple of days after I noticed a vibration coming from the front steering and drivetrain I immediately took it back to Galles and they told me nothing was wrong with it and that the aggressive tires was what I was feeling. So I took it back and drove it for a couple of weeks and the vibration started getting worse so took it back again they rotated and balanced the tires and said it was fine. A few weeks passed and it started again took it back and told me tires were out of round and that was what I was feeling 21/2 months it sat in the back lot until they figured out who was gonna replace the tires. Finally got the truck back and it was ok until the new tires started cupping again and the vibration was back in total I took it in about 8 times in past 18 months for the same issue and to this day has not been resolved. According to GALLES CHEVROLET the technician stated that that was normal for a 2500 4 wheel drive truck with aggressive tires drives and assured me that there’s nothing wrong with the vehicle. Now look at the video and tell me if that’s normal for this truck For some reason it’s not letting me load a video of me moving the wheel up and down side to side where it moves about 3” with the steering wheel locked wheel is very very loose

Driving on highway 70 mph with out prior warning the truck begins to shake, backfire, lunging, loss of power, all the lights on the dash starting going crazy, cars behind me trying to avoid hitting me ,it wouldn't speed up, having a hard time getting it off the road and out of the way of highway traffic before getting rear ended by traffic behind me. The truck only has a little over 60000 miles on it which is just beyond the 60000 mile warranty, The truck lost compression because of a lifter failure in the motor. After this I have no interest in ever buying another Chevy product, If they cant build a motor that will last more than 3 years maybe they should rethink their future in the auto industry.

Entire system (everything) shut down without warning, sometimes kick back on, and other times not at all. Extremely dangerous as it will occur no matter traveling on highway or turning a corner in a parking lot. There are discussion boards in which many people have experienced this problem and clearly it is because of "Bad Battery Cables" and common within the 2014-2018 models. My truck is currently in a dealership garage to have the cables replaced and I have to have a rental car while the cables are on backorder for 5 to 10 days (maybe longer). How is this not a "recall" when so common and so dangerous? Dealership could see in a diagnosis that power had been lost and communication lost, over and over and over. There has never been a dash warning light come on at all.

Which included front bumper, left headlamp assembly, left front fender, left upper control arm, damage to front and rear doors, bedside panel, rear bumper and both wheels, and tires. SERIOUSLY CONSIDER TRADING AT THIS POINT TO AVOID ANY MORE CONFLICT.

The brakes failed to work when I was in a parking lot. As I was pulling into a parking spot, the brakes did not work even when I pumped them. I was going approximately 3mph. It startled me, so I put the truck in neutral and then into park. Then I turned the vehicle off. Fortunately, this happened in a parking lot and I was able to avoid hitting anything, including a pedestrian. Also, this put my husband and me at great risk because if I had not chosen to go back into a parking lot, and had gone into an intersection and been unable to stop, I could have entered the intersection and been in a serious accident. The truck functioned well enough to get to my dealership. I avoided driving it for a couple of weeks until they could run diagnostics. Between the time it first happened and bringing it to the dealership, the problem did not occur. However, when the technician was driving it into the shop, it happened to him too. They did perform diagnostics and found a problem with a brake Pump 3.280 (Part No. 12696313). I had it repaired at my own expense ($587.65) on Nov. 22, 2022. NOTE: This truck has only 25,673 miles on it. There has been a recall for this problem on Silverados from this year, but my VIN number was not included in the recall. There were no warnings prior to this event. I would like to have this repair cost reimbursed.

My 2018 chevy silverado started making weird squeaky/popping sounds it almost sounds like something is rubbing against something else when stepping on the break pedal. When driving at any rate of speed the pedal seems to not make the squeaking noise but when I make a complete stop for example at a traffic light and let go of the break pedal and press again I can hear that noise loud and clear even passengers can hear it, Another example would be going in a drive thru of a restaurant that pretty much break pedal is used every 3 seconds as you pulling forward there the noise becomes constant every time stepping and letting go of the break pedal. My silverado has about 80,000 miles on it

THE EIGHT SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION STUTTERS AND ACTS LIKE IT DOESN'T KNOW WHAT GEAR TO GO INTO UNDER LIGHT TO NORMAL ACCELERATION. THIS OCCURS WHILE COLD AND DURING THE WARMING PERIOD, (NORMALLY UP TO AROUND 180 DEGREES), BUT TENDS TO RESOLVE AFTER THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY WARMED UP. THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS CONTINUOUS AND HAPPENS EVERY TIME AFTER THE VEHICLE SITS ALL NIGHT OR IF IT HAS SIMPLY SIT FOR A FEW HOURS. IT IS VERY APPARENT, OTHER PASSENGERS ASK WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN THEY RIDE IN IT. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW, BUT WHEN I TOOK THE TEST DRIVE IT WAS ALREADY WARMED UP. THEREFORE I WAS UNAWARE OF THE ISSUES PRESENT. I WENT BACK TO THE SALESMAN TO DESCRIBE THE PROBLEM AND WAS INFORMED THIS HAPPENS WITH ALL THE 2018 EIGHT SPEED SILVERADO'S HE HAS DRIVEN ON THEIR LOT. I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THESE TRANSMISSIONS HAVE A LEARN CYCLE, SO I DECIDED TO GIVE IT SOME TIME TO SEE IF WAS A LEARNING CURVE WITH THE COMPUTER. IT NEVER CLEARED UP. I LATER BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE INITIAL SERVICE AND DESCRIBED WHAT HAD BEEN HAPPENING WITH IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I LEFT THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT SO THE TECHNICIAN COULD DRIVE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AND PERFORM AN SERVICES. THE NEXT DAY I WAS CALLED AND TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS READY. UPON ARRIVAL I WAS INFORMED THE TECHNICIAN WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS I DESCRIBED, BUT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE EIGHT SPEED TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, IT BECOMES WORSE TO BRING IT BACK IN FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. I CALLED GM, THEY ALSO LOOKED INTO THE CASE FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THEN CALLED BACK AND STATED THAT IS NORMAL FOR THE TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW WITH ABOUT 2,500 MILES ON IT, (DEMO), AND HAVE HAD IT ONLY A FEW MONTHS. IT CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON IT.

I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH ON I65 IN TENNESSEE, WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 76MPH. I WAS NEAR MILE MARKER 27 ON A STEEP INCLINE WHEN A CAR MOVED IN FRONT OF ME CAUSING ME TO TAP THE BRAKE TO COME OFF CRUISE CONTROL AND SLOW DOWN. WHEN THE CAR MERGED RIGHT, CLEARING MY PATH, I TOUCHED THE RESUME BUTTON TO REACH-ENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. I IMMEDIATELY FELT THE OVERDRIVE KICK IN, WHICH SEEMED NORMAL BECAUSE I WAS GOING UP HILL, BUT IT JUST WENT CRAZY. THE ENGINE RACED TO NEARLY 5000RPM, AND I WAS GOING OVER 100MPH WITH NO ABILITY TO STOP IT. I TURNED OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL USING THE STEERING WHEEL BUTTON, AND IT HAD NO AFFECT. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, IT HAD NO AFFECT. SO I MOVED TO THE SHOULDER TO AVOID TRAFFIC, AND I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE HARDER. I SAW THE SPEEDOMETER REACT, SO I PRESSED THE BRAKE AS HARD AS POSSIBLE AND MANAGED TO GET IT STOPPED AND IN PARK. THE ENGINE WAS STILL SCREAMING AT NEARLY 5000RPM, SO I TURNED THE KEY OFF. AFTER 30 MINUTES, I STARTED IT, IT RAN FINE, AND I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE MY DRIVE TO PENSACOLA WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. A TRULY TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. THANK YOU.

I have done some research and found other trucks same year and make have had the same problem and have had recalls but the problem is when I hit the break the lights will all flash like the truck is going to stall and it will say service trailer break system and stablitrak system and will even shut my truck off while I’m driving causing me to have to either pull of the side of the road and start my truck back up

Twice now GM has recalled the block heater for my truck. The first remedy did not fix the issue and had to be recalled again. This was back in July 2021. It is now the end of November 2021 and nothing more has been done. My truck requires a block heater in order to start in the upcoming cold months. This will make two years in a row I cannot use my truck when the temperatures fall below freezing. It directly affects my livelihood because I need a truck for work. What more can I do to speed this process up? How is it GM can still sell new diesel pickups with working block heaters, but are not required to fix the older diesel pickups?
