TODAY (12/30/18) OUR BRAND NEW 2018 ACURA RDX'S SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING ( STRAIGHT ROAD, NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED, EXCELLENT WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LIGHT TO NO SUNDAY MORNING TRAFFIC). THE SOUND WAS A LOUD AND INTENSE POP OVERHEAD......THE GLASS SUNROOF WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. WE IMMEDIATELY CLOSED THE HEADLINER ROOF SHADE TO PROTECT US. WITHIN A MINUTE OR SO THE GLASS STARTED TO BREAK APART AND HIT THE HIGHWAY. WE GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AS SOON AS WE COULD. THEN GOT OUT TO ACCESS THE DAMAGE. NO SIGN OF ANY EXTERNAL IMPACT! WE THOUGHT IT HAD TO BE A FREAK ENGINEERING DEFECT IN THE GLASS. WE EXPECT ACURA TO TELL US THAT "THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING BEFORE" WHEN WE BRING THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP IN THE MORNING. WE'LL SEE HOW HONEST THEY ACTUALLY ARE. NOW I KNOW WE ARE NOT THE FIRST THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED TO! THANKFULLY ONLY A LITTLE BLOOD LOSS CLEANING OUT THE GLASS FROM THE ROOF. CALL IT LUCK? THE SCARE ALONE COULD GIVE YOU A HEART ATTACK!

My car's original security alarm goes off randomly without any reason. When parked and locked in a parking lot next to a street, the alarm goes off intermittently. After unlocking using FOB, the alarm will turn off and then goes off again in a few minutes. This will go on for hours at a time until it stops for a few days and then reoccurs again! Very stressful and frustrating. The mechanic says it's caused by faulty Body Control Module and will cost over $1,000 to fix. I see that many people are having the same issue and have to pay over $1,000 to repair. This faulty reequipment should be recalled so owners can recoup their damage.

I have received the recall notice from American Honda Motor company regarding the recall number 23V-858 for my Acura RDX 2018 fuel pump recall. My car had symptoms described by the recall: could not start the engine as well as losing drive power. I didn't record the exact days the incident occurred but it was early in 2024. Acura told me the fuel pump replacements were available and sent to their dealers but it was not the case. I have contact local Acura dealers in San Diego and they said they have not received the Acura RDX fuel pumps from manufacture. I also contacted the Acura dealer in Tustin where I bought the vehicle. The service manager, Jennifer Flores, told me they have never received the Acura RDX fuel pumps replacements as promised from American Honda Motor. Please help me to ask American Honda Motor why they said fuel pumps are available but none of their dealers received it. I called the American Honda Motor and they said the fuel pumps are available but dealers said otherwise. What is going on with American Honda Motor? They are putting their customer lives in jeopardy. Please help me as well as other American fellows too.

Stopped at a red light, I was waiting for the opportunity to make a right turn. When the right lane was free of traffic I began to turn into that lane, but an approaching car made a lane change as it neared the intersection, and I let my foot off the accelerator for a split second before I realized I was too far into the lane. I tried to accelerate quickly to avoid getting rear-ended, but my Acura RDX's transmission hesitated and the engine raced in neutral. Fortunately the appoaching car was able to swerve back into the left lane and thus avoid hitting me. Not all drivers are as attentive as that driver had been, and I felt very fortunate to have not been hit. My husband and I have taken the car into the dealership multiple times, but they are unable to duplicate the transmission problem, though it continues to occur. We feel this random hesitation in the six-speed transmission during a crucial accident avoidance manuever could easily result in a collision.

THIS IS RELATED TO COMPLAINT #11143782. TWO MONTHS AFTER MY GAS TANK WAS REPLACED DUE TO A FAULTY CONNECTION BETWEEN IT AND THE FILLER PIPE, THE BOLTS HOLDING THE REAR PROPELLOR SHAFT CAME LOOSE AS I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY CITY STREET, MAKING THE CAR UNDRIVABLE. AT THAT TIME, MY CAR HAD 3761 MILES ON IT. THE CAR HAD TO BE FLATBED TOWED TO THE ACURA DEALER, WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE BOLTS HAD "BACKED OUT AND THE SHAFT WAS RUBBING ON SAFETY HOLDERS." THE BOLTS WERE REPLACED WITH OEZM BOLTS WITH LOC-TITE.

THEY FOUND THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE FILLER PIPE AND THE GAS TANK. BOTH HAD TO BE REPLACED ON A CAR WITH 3,037 MILES ON IT. IN THE PROCESS, I WAS GIVEN FALSE INFORMATION ABOUT THE WORK THAT WAS DONE, WHICH I DID NOT DISCOVER UNTIL A SECOND INCIDENT IN WHICH THE REAR PROPELLOR SHAFT CAME LOOSE FORCED THEM TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED.

My 2018 RDX has started to jerk when I stop and then restart. I have noticed some hesitation and a bit of jerky driving but today it was very noticeable. I could barely go above 40 miles an hour after I started driving after a stop light and the car was very jerky. It seems to be either a fuel pump or transmission issue. I am going to check with the RDX dealership where I bought the car in 2018 but I wanted to report the issue. I also looked up the VIN on my car for a recall and the system said my car had not been recalled. Not sure why my 2018 RDX is different from other 2018 RDX models that were recalled.
- 09/25/2025· ENGINE
The torque converter is defective in my 2018 Acura RDX. I have received flashing warning lights on my dashboard in Red " Check Transmission." This warning light is due to Acura's defective torque converter. The torque converter affects the shifting of power during driving and cause hesitance or shuddering when attempting to accelerate.which causes my vehicle to sometimes to have a decrease in power . This affects my safety while driving my 2018 Acura RDX. Acura is aware of this defect and safety risk. Acura Client Relations informed me that Acura was mandated by the government to provide a Warranty Extension for the 2017-2018 Torque Converter. I received one of these notices and took my car for the repair. I left my car with the dealership for 6 days. The dealership decided that they will not repair my car because they have determined my car has a "branded title." I purchased my vehicle used from an Auto Body Shop. My vehicle was declared to be salvaged. My engine/transmission/torque converter is the original on my Acura RDX. and was never damaged or repaired. My RDX torque defect should be a safety recall because it affects my safety.

I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN DEC 2017. SINCE DEC 2017, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE CENTER AT THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR A TOTAL OF 2.5 MONTHS DUE TO SOUNDS WITH THE STEERING COLUMN - SPECIFICALLY THE LOCATION OF THE DRIVER AIRBAG WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN UNDER THE HORN. THE SOUND WAS IDENTITIED WITHIN THE FIRST 2,000 MILES OF BEING A NEW VEHICLE. THE SOUND BECOMES PRONOUNCED WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS ROTATED 180 DEGREES AND FEELS LIKE IT IS PULLING ON AN ITEM UNDER THE PLASTIC COVER ABOVE THE AIRBAG. THE AIRBAG WAS REMOVED FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AND WHEN THE AIRBAG WAS MOVED AROUND, THERE WAS A SOUND SIMILAR TO THE SOUND FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNED. THE ACURA TECH TEAM HAS BEEN INFORMED. THIS SOUND WAS EVIDENCED TO BE IN ACURA MODEL YEARS 2017 AND 2018. THE SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN/AIRBAG LOCATION BECOMES EVEN MORE PRONOUNCED AS MORE MILES ARE PUT ON THE VEHICLE. ACURA WILL NOT INVESTIGATE FURTHER AS THE MODEL HAS BEEN REDESIGNED AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN ADDITIONAL RECALLS. I HAVE DRIVEN NUMEROUS OTHER ACURA LOANER VEHICLES AND NO OTHER ACURA VEHICLES HAVE MADE THIS SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN/AIR BAG. THE SOUND STARTS TO OCCUR AFTER THE STEERING COLUMN HAS BEEN ROTATED TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT 180 DEGREES - SUCH AS GOING UP OR DOWN A PARKING RAMP. ONCE THE SOUND HAS STARTED, IT PERSISTS AND CONRINUES TO GET LOUDER OVER TIME. I HAVE ONLY 7800 MILES ON MY VEHICLE, BUT THE SOUND WAS ALSO RECORDED IN VEHICLES WITH OVER 20,000 MILES. I FEEL THIS SOUND COULD BE THE AIRBAG BEING CAUGHT IN THE ROTATION OF THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CONCERN IS THE AIRBAG WILL ARTIFICIALLY DEPLOY AFTER USE, AS THE SOUND BEING HEARD IS COMPARABLE TO A BAG BEING TWISTED OR AN ELEMENT WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN RUBBING AGAINST ANOTHER ITEM.

There is acceleration hesitation every time when I'm driving. The car seems to "catch" as it's accelerating and is very "jerky". The issue has gotten worse over time. I take my care to Acura for a second time next week to see if I can get it officially diagnosed; however, I've already been told there are no parts available and I'll just be "put on a list". This recall was announced in Dec 2023 and it's now Sept 2024 so I don't understand how this delay is acceptable. The additional details that I need to provide below only allow me to enter one date. I started noticing the issue last year and as I said it's gotten progressively worse. I last drove yesterday so used that date but it's been going on for about a year.

Hard, jerking shifting at approximately 20 mph. Potential problem moving in close traffic such as from traffic light or entering traffic. No diagnostic warning/error lights. I’ve taken my car to Crown Acura 14080 Brookpark Rd, Cleveland, OH on July 11, 2022 for diagnosing and servicing the problem. It’s an intermittent problem so they couldn’t replicate so they couldn’t diagnose the problem. They flushed and changed the transmission fluid, bc and did a complete servicing. The service report does not show the transmission fluid filter was cleaned or replaced. I’ve found the problem mentioned a on the internet a number of times., but the mechanics were not aware of any transmission problems. I find it hard to believe Acura isn’t aware of the problem and how to fix it. The problem is intermittent and has been happening for over a year. The problem still hasn’t been diagnosed. I’m concerned my transmission will be damaged if the problem isn’t fixed. Most recent shifting problem was 4 times in about 30 min starting at ~9:30pm on July 21, 2022

- 07/03/2023· SEAT BELTS
Not sure where to direct this, so please redirect if this is the wrong inbox. I recently went into a local service appointment to have our passenger seat belt buckle replaced at Acura Concord. We had noticed that the belt was not seating securely in the buckle, and could be removed with minimal-to-moderate effort (would guess 15-30 lbs of force) - certainly not safe in a collision. It started to stick intermittently, and slowly got worse over time until it got to a point that it was clearly unsafe. We were concerned and I proactively paid to have it replaced. The service technicians suspected that something might have entered the belt and was preventing the mechanism of working correctly. However, upon replacing the buckle, the service technician reported that the belt buckle had no foreign objects inside it, and appears to have been mechanically failing. This was alarming, and I quickly searched online to find the current seatbelt recall. However, my vehicle is not a part of that, but maybe should be given the technician's findings. The technician's report can be found through Acura of Concord, and has a reference number of RO#203423 / Tag# 172B. I asked the technician for the faulty belt and currently have it in my possession (pictures of it sticking are attached, this is the first and only time I've touched it since the appointment). Please let us know, we'd like to make sure these vehicles are as safe as they can be for all purchasers. Appreciate your time and attention here.

Vehicle Information: 2018 Acura RDX AWDAffected System: Power Train / Automatic Transmission / Torque ConverterAssociated Code/Bulletin: DTC P0741 / Acura TSB B23-029Complaint Description:The vehicle is experiencing a documented manufacturer defect covered under Acura Warranty Extension TSB B23-029, where the internal torque converter lock-up piston cracks, causing hydraulic fluid pressure to bleed down. A professional diagnostic scan confirmed active Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0741 alongside a flashing transmission "D" indicator on the dashboard. This mechanical component failure creates a severe, immediate safety hazard. Because the cracked piston allows the torque converter clutch to continuously slip under load, operating the vehicle at sustained highway speeds generates extreme internal friction and excessive hydraulic heat. This thermal buildup presents a high risk of sudden, catastrophic transmission failure, fluid vaporization, or powertrain lock-up while operating on public roadways. The manufacturer is actively exacerbating this safety hazard. Because there is no Acura dealership within a 90-mile radius, Acura Corporate Client Relations (Case #164446080) and the nearest authorized Acura dealership service manager have explicitly instructed me to drive the malfunctioning vehicle over 90 miles on the highway to reach their facility for service. The manufacturer is refusing to provide safe flatbed transport for this all-wheel-drive vehicle, forcing the consumer to choose between incurring massive private towing expenses or operating a vehicle with a known transmission overheating hazard on high-speed interstate systems. I am requesting an investigation into the unsafe logistical barriers the manufacturer is enforcing to avoid safely honoring this powertrain defect campaign.

Computer diagnostics shows the 2018 Acura RDX Control Unit part number 38320-TX4-A31 is faulty. This part is backordered and likely will not be available in the near future. The intermittent starting failure poses a safety risk and could leave a driver stranded.

The transmission went into limp mode one day after coming to a stop. When I safely got home, I turned the car off. Upon restarting, the issue was gone, but this has now happened several times. Each time, putting the car into park, shutting it off, and restarting it "resets" whatever was going on. Eventually the CE light came on, got the code, and it came back as P0873. The CE light was off after once again shutting the engine off and then restarting. I've purchased the necessary materials to complete the repair, but I've read on many forums this is a common issue, with some even reporting it recurring even after replacing the pressure switch. Acura should issue a recall and absolve all consumers of costs incurred. URLs provided below from Reddit threads and an Acura discussion forum regarding similar issues all over. [XXX] on [XXX], traveling 70mph on busy highway, blind spot monitoring failed, gear display failed, and check transmission message flashed across display. Had to guide car safety off road and into parking lot. This was first time ever happened. Did not know what was going on or what was happening; safety features like blind spot monitoring (especially after becoming accustomed to) failing all of sudden could have caused a major accident by inadvertently cutting someone off, decrease in speed, etc. Turned vehicle off and all lights disappeared. Had car looked at by Honda Dealership next morning; notified it was a P0741 code and failed torque converter. These systems apparently always go down with this code. Told it was associated with known issue of SB23-029 after they consulted with a local Acura dealership. They were told Acura sees this all the time and a torque converter would repair issues I had. Stuck with almost $5k repair bill for a global issue because out of mileage extended warranty. Spoke with Honda representative Naomi (claim#[XXX]) advised of situation, was asked to provide a bunch of personal information not containing to claim over nearly two weeks, and then told I was denied assistance because system wouldn't take, I was not original owner, and out of mileage. This should not be a SB; THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL! I'm seeking legal representation and looking at options to recover losses from Honda negligence. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED, RUNNING AND UNOCCUPIED ON THE STREET. MY WIFE ENTERED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE REACHING IN TO RETRIEVE SOMETHING FROM THE CENTER CONSOLE. SHE PRESSED THE START/STOP ENGINE BUTTON TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS DOWN A HILL, KNOCKING MY WIFE TO THE GROUND CAUSING INJURY. CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL UNTIL IT STRUCK A TREE.
