  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANELCampaign 24V051000 · 30/01/2024Over-the-air fix

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2012-2023 Model S, 2016-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, 2019-2024 Model Y, and 2024 Cybertruck vehicles. An incorrect font size is displayed on the instrument panel for the Brake, Park, and Antilock Brake System (ABS) warning lights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems" and 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk: Warning lights with a smaller font size can make critical safety information on the instrument panel difficult to read, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla began releasing an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-00-003.

  • FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERACampaign 21V846000 · 29/10/2021Over-the-air fix

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2017-2021 Model S, Model 3, Model X, and 2020-2021 Model Y vehicles operating software version 2021.36.5.2. A communication error may cause false forward-collision warning (FCW) or unexpected activation of the automatic emergency brake (AEB) system.

Risk: Unexpected activation of the AEB system may cause the car to stop suddenly, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla Service has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. The recall began October 25, 2021. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-21-00-004.

  • BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARECampaign 21V035000 · 29/01/2021

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2012-2018 Tesla Model S and 2016-2018 Model X vehicles with a center display equipped with a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and an 8GB eMMC NAND flash memory device. When the 8GB eMMC NAND flash memory device for the center display reaches lifetime wear, the eMMC controller will no longer be able to maintain the integrity of the filesystem, causing a failure in some of the center display functions.

Risk: The eMMC controller wear-out condition can cause the loss of the rearview camera display, defrost/defog control settings, and exterior turn signal lighting, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Owners should ensure their vehicles are operating firmware release 2020.48.48.12 or newer, which will alert owners if the eMMC is approaching lifetime wear. Tesla will notify owners, and will replace the VCM daughterboard with one containing an enhanced eMMC controller, free of charge. The recall began March 29, 2021. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-21-21-001.

  • SEAT BELTS:FRONT:WARNING LIGHT/DEVICESCampaign 24V376000 · 28/05/2024Over-the-air fix

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2012-2024 Model S, 2015-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles. In the event of an unbelted driver, the seat belt warning light and audible chime may not activate as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk: A seat belt warning system that fails to alert occupants of an unbelted seat belt can increase the risk of injury during a crash.

Fix: Tesla will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update. Owner notification letters were mailed July 26, 2024. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-00-008.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ADAS:AUTONOMOUS/SELF DRIVING:SOFTWARECampaign 22V037000 · 27/01/2022Over-the-air fix

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2016-2022 Model S and Model X, 2017-2022 Model 3, and 2020-2022 Model Y vehicles. The "rolling stop" functionality available as part of the Full Self-Driving (Beta) software may allow the vehicle to travel through an all-way stop intersection without first coming to a stop.

Risk: Failing to stop at a stop sign can increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla will perform an over-the-air (OTA) software update that disables the "rolling stop" functionality, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 28, 2022. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-22-00-001.

  • LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCHCampaign 21V00B000 · 21/12/2021

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2014-2021 Model S vehicles. The front trunk latch assembly may be misaligned, preventing the secondary hood latch from engaging. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 113, "Hood Latch System."

Risk: If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could open unexpectedly, obstructing the driver's view and increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla Service will inspect and reposition the latch assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 18, 2022. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-21-11-003.

  • STEERING:AUTOMATED/ADAPTIVE STEERINGCampaign 23V085000 · 15/02/2023Over-the-air fix

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2016-2023 Model S, Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles equipped with Full Self-Driving Beta (FSD Beta) software or pending installation.  The FSD Beta system may allow the vehicle to act unsafe around intersections, such as traveling straight through an intersection while in a turn-only lane, entering a stop sign-controlled intersection without coming to a complete stop, or proceeding into an intersection during a steady yellow traffic signal without due caution. In addition, the system may respond insufficiently to changes in posted speed limits or not adequately account for the driver's adjustment of the vehicle's speed to exceed posted speed limits.

Risk: FSD Beta software that allows a vehicle to exceed speed limits or travel through intersections in an unlawful or unpredictable manner increases the risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge.  Owner notification letters were mailed April 15, 2023.  Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752.  Tesla's number for this recall is SB-23-00-001.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ADAS:AUTONOMOUS/SELF DRIVING:SOFTWARECampaign 23V838000 · 12/12/2023Over-the-air fix

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling 2012-2023 Model S, 2016-2023 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles equipped with all versions of Autosteer leading up to the version(s) that contains the recall remedy. In certain circumstances when Autosteer is engaged, the prominence and scope of the feature's controls may not be sufficient to prevent driver misuse of the SAE Level 2 advanced driver-assistance feature.

Risk: In certain circumstances when Autosteer is engaged, and the driver does not maintain responsibility for vehicle operation and is unprepared to intervene as necessary or fails to recognize when Autosteer is canceled or not engaged, there may be an increased risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 10, 2024. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-23-00-008.

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2017-2021 Model S and Model X vehicles. The electronic power assist steering (EPAS) system may experience a loss of power steering assist when driving on rough roads or after hitting a pothole.

Risk: A loss of power steering assist can require greater steering effort, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Tesla has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update to recalibrate the EPAS system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 31, 2022. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-22-00-014.

In February 2022, I struck a downed tree limb which caused damage to my vehicle. The vehicle was repaired at a Tesla Service Center and the entire front suspension was replaced and paid for by my insurance. The car seemed to drive fine after this incident. In December 2023, I took the car in to a Tesla Service Center for an unrelated issue (the coolant level was low). After completing the service, I received a call from the service center stating that the service technician noticed that the vehicle was "swaying heavily to the right" and that it was not safe to drive. The service center performed diagnostic work and told me that the left fore link had detached from the ball assembly and that both the left and right fore links showed excessive wear. The service center initially told me that I would need to pay for this repair. Had them verify that the same components had been replaced recently and that only 6600 miles had been driven on the new suspension. After I told them that I would contact my insurance company, the service center quickly changed their tune, said they would cover the repair, and completed the repair within hours. Assuming their diagnosis was not fraudulent, and that the suspension was correctly replaced the first time, I find it deeply concerning that a key component of the suspension would fail after 6600 miles. I have copies of both service invoices and my chat history with the service center that I am happy to provide to substantiate this report. I was not able to attach them to this form so please contact me if you would like to obtain copies.

I WAS DRIVING THROUGH AN EXIT RAMP AND I FELT SOMETHING BREAK ON THE VEHICLE AND THEN WHEN I TRIED TO TURN THE VEHICLE, IT CONTINUED TO PUSH STRAIGHT. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW, THE REAR TOE ARM OF THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR SUSPENSION BROKE. THIS FAILURE CAUSED THE REAR WHEEL TO BE ABLE TO TURN LEFT AND RIGHT.

  • 12/24/2024· SUSPENSION

Car rattles when driven and makes loud sounds when going over bumps. Took to Tesla with 50k miles on it and they said it needs new air spring modules on front left and right. Did not do repair as it was over $3000. My car was built in the Fremont factory, the same as the cars in china that were recalled for the same reason. My car was a Tesla fleet car when I purchased it May of this year. Tesla had to know there was a problem and that’s why they wholesaled it to a different car dealership to be sold.

  • 12/24/2024· EXTERIOR LIGHTING

I don't have this problem anymore because I had the circuit board replaced. The issue I have observed is the auto high beam feature doesn't work properly. They get stuck in the high setting and don't adapt to on-coming traffic. It's primarily in model y cars but all models have been observed. This might be as simple as needing the adaptive setting to be default or in my case a new control board replaced. The remedy before I got it fixed was to not have high engaged with the stock. I don't think there is a manual solution with the y or any newer teslas.

  • 12/21/2021· SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCECrash

The contact owns a 2017 Tesla Model S 75. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the brakes were seized while on autopilot. In addition, there was a warning error the contact was unable to remember. The contact mentioned the emergency brake engaged independently and the contact was unable to control the vehicle which caused the vehicle to crash into the guardrail. A police report was not filed. The air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was towed to a service center where a diagnostic was not attempted but the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 21v846000 ( forward collision avoidance). The approximate failure mileage was 54,504. Vehicle was not listed on the recall.

  • 12/21/2018· POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROLCrash

OUR TESLA HAS HAD TWO INCIDENTS IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS OF UNCONTROLLABLE ACCELERATION....ONCE SLOWLY GOING INTO A PARKING PLACE AND ONCE BACKING OUT OF OUR GARAGE. THE FIRST ONE RESULTED IN A COUPLE OF CRACKED RIBS (WITH SEATBELT ON) AND $18,000 IN DAMAGE. THE SECOND INCIDENT: THE TESLA, WHEN BACKING UP WENT TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL BY ACCELERATING AND IT BARRELED ACROSS THE STREET AND KNOCKING DOWN A TREE BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THE TESLA IS NOW IN THE REPAIR SHOP WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE REAR OF THE CAR. NOT SURE YET OF THE DOLLAR AMOUNT. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT IN THE TESLA MODEL S.

  • 12/20/2021· STEERING,SUSPENSION,WHEELS

Reversing from my driveway it appears links or bolts on the steering and wheel suspension system failed. The wheels came into contact with the wheel cavity liner causing the steering to lock, the frame to protrude through the wheel cavity casing and the car to shut off or lock. The car is no longer safe to drive. The car is in my driveway, is available for inspection before I bring it back into Tesla for repair. Having just completed a highway drive, I dread to think what could have happened had this failure occurred on that journey at higher speeds. My car only has 40,000 miles and this issue or critical part failure appears to be premature. I have taken Video of the wheel moving independently to the car chassis structure. There was no warning in advance of the failure. I welcome an NHTSA or secondary inspection prior to repair by Tesla. I intend to deliver the car back to Tesla on 1/5/22.

After the latest software update, the intermittent settings on the windshield wipers no longer work. At 10:15am on December 11, the Tesla Service group confirmed in a message that this is a known firmware characteristic. There is no ETA on a new firmware update to correct the issue. There notice states that it is an issue with the auto wiper feature, but the wiper does not work in manual mode either. Initially, they stated that they could inspect the car in a few days. Now they have pushed my appointment 2+ weeks.

PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP IN A PARKING LOT, THERE WAS A NEW RATTLE AT THE LEFT FRONT OF THE CAR, BUT THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY. MADE A RIGHT TURN ONTO A STREET AND SLOWLY APPROACHED AN INTERSECTION. DROVE THE CAR 100 FEET BACK INTO THE PARKING LOT. CAR WAS TOWED TO TESLA SERVICE CENTER. TESLA REPLACED BOTH FORE LINK ASSEMBLIES. THERE IS A NOTATION ON THE REPAIR INVOICE THAT "FOUND BOTH FORE LINKS REVISION A'S. REPLACED BOTH FORE LINKS WITH REVISION B'S." I STRONGLY FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL, AS I FIND MANY BLOG ENTRIES WHERE THE SAME PART HAS FAILED OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS AND TESLA REPLACED THE ONE THAT HAD NOT FAILED WITH THE NEW REVISION.

I GIVE UP ON THE CAMERAS WORKING AND STOP USING CRUISE CONTROL -AT 12:31PM IN THE SHASTA AREA STREAMING FAILS AND THEN THE WHOLE MCU SHUTS DOWN. WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN I AM FORCED TO REACT AND OPEN WINDOWS TO KEEP THE WINDOWS FROM FOGGING UP WHILE DRIVING AT 70MPH. OTHIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE UPDATED MY NHTSA COMPLAINT TO INCLUDE THESE SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS. -7:48PM 11/23, WHILE SUPERCHARGING IN EMERYVILLE THE MCU COMPLETELY FROZE. I WAS HAD TO FORCE A REBOOT. 2ND REBOOT IN ONE DAY -5:28PM 11/24 MCU CRASHES WHILE DRIVING AGAIN! HOW DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THE SAFETY IMPLICATIONS OF THIS?! THIS IS THE 3RD CRASH IN 2 DAYS!. I WILL MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND EXPECT YOU TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE MY NHTSA COMPLAINT REGARDING THESE SAFETY ISSUES UNTIL TESLA RESOLVES THEM. My car hardly functions anymore and the Tesla service center is saying I need a new Infotainment Upgrade. This issue causes the car to not function properly.

  • 11/28/2020· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

EXPERIENCING REGULAR BLACKOUTS OF MAIN SCREEN FORCING ME TO STOP DRIVING AND WAIT FOR REBOOT (UNLESS TRIGGERED MANUALLY AS PER TESLA SC ADVICE). COMPLETE BLACKOUTS HAVE HAPPENED REGULARLY ABOUT 5-7 TIMES OVER THE LAST 2 MONTHS, LATEST BEING NOV 17 AT 6:30PM. TESLA SERVICE CENTER RAN DIAGNOSTICS ON LATEST OCCURRENCE AND CLAIM FIRMWARE ISSUE AS OPPOSED TO EMMC FAULT AS PER EXTENDED WARRANTY COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM TESLA ABOUT A MONTH AGO. ACCORDING TO SC DIAGNOSTICS SHOWED 'MCU USING A HIGH AMOUNT OF RESOURCES' AT THE TIME OF FAILURE AND REFERRING TO FIRMWARE ISSUE. NO UPDATED FIRMWARE ETA GIVEN. ASKED ABOUT CHARACTERISTICS THAT DISTINGUISH MCU FAILURE FROM FIRMWARE ISSUE WITH NO RESPONSE FROM SC. SEEMS LIKE TESLA IS AVOIDING AN UNDERLYING MCU FAULT BY CLAIMING FIRMWARE. I AM FINE WITH A NEW FIRMWARE TO FIX THE EXPERIENCED PROBLEM. HOWEVER, I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH JUSTIFYING FAULT WITH FIRMWARE ISSUE BUT NO SOLUTION. THIS MUST BE A WELL KNOWN ISSUE AT TESLA WHICH SHOULD HAVE TRIGGERED AN IMMEDIATE FIRMWARE SOLUTION. NO FIRMWARE SOLUTION TO ME INDICATES AN UNDERLYING PROBLEM. WITH THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE MCU IT IS CLEAR THAT TESLA HAS BEEN FORCED TO RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, WITHOUT ACTUAL SOLUTION FOR CUSTOMER. BLACKOUT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING. INVESTIGATION OF FIRMWARE ISSUE RELATED TO BLACKOUT PROBLEM NEEDED AND FURTHERMORE, WHAT DISTINGUISHES CHARACTERISTICS OF BLACKOUT GENERATED BY MCU (EMMC) AND FIRMWARE ISSUE.

TESLA MCU FAILS INTERMITTENTLY- RENDERING AUTOPILOT AND ALL SAFETY FEATURES ASSOCIATED USELESS. ALSO CAUSES EXTREME SCARE TO DRIVER WHEN FAILURE OCCURS, AS THEY BELIEVE CAR IS OFF/NOT WORKING. OCCURS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, BOTH ON STARTUP AND WHILE DRIVING.

MY MCU IS CONTINUING TO POWER OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING AND THE SMALL SCREEN TAKES LONGER TO BOOT UP. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN SURFING STILL BEFORE I START OUT OF MY GARAGE.

The car was on park for charging. When charging was at 75%, when it was complete, the car was put on drive. Auto-steering disengaged message came up. The steering was stuck and could not be turned. After multiple tries, called Tesla road side assistance which resulted in car getting towed to service station. The steering rack had to be removed and replaced. I cannot imagine if this happened when the car was on a higher speed road.

THE SAME ISSUE IS OF RECURRING; BLACK OUT OF MCU DURING DRIVING LASTING 20-30 SECONDS THAT RENDERS TURN SIGNAL AUDIBLE NOTIFICATION MUTE AND BACK UP CAMERA INOPERABLE; DELAYED START UP OF VEHICLE IS BETTER NOW BUT NOT COMPLETELY RESOLVED. REQUEST FOR MCU 2 INTEL UPGRADE DENIED AS IS A PURCHASABLE UPGRADE.

TESLA ONBOARD COMPUTER CRASHED, NO BACK UP CAMERA WHEN REVERSING, INDICATOR LIGHTS DIDN'T WORK, NO NAVIGATION, RADIO, BLUETOOTH, UNABLE TO CONTROL AIR CONDITIONER. TSLA UPGRADED "DAUGHTER BOARD" A FEW MONTHS AGO, BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TAKING IT TO SERVICE IN DEC. HOPE THEY UPGRADE THE CHIP INSTEAD OF INSTALLING THE SAME OLD EMMC THAT HAS BEEN CREATING THE PROBLEM.

CENTER DISPLAY FREQUENTLY GOES BLANK OR DOES NOT ACTIVATE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, WHEN STARTING THE CAR, DISABLING THE DISPLAY THAT SHOWS THE BACKUP CAMERA. THIS HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN 30 TIMES. TESLA SENT A LETTER SAYING OWNERS AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM (EMMC FAILURE) ARE ENTITLED TO A FREE REPAIR, YET THEY DECLINED TO REPAIR MY CAR BECAUSE THEIR REMOTE DIAGNOSTICS COULD NOT DETERMINE THAT A PROBLEM EXISTED. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THIS OCCURS, MOST VEHICLE COMFORT FEATURES ARE DISABLED, INCLUDING CLIMATE CONTROL. IT IS A VERY LARGE DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER WHEN THE SYSTEM COMPLETELY FAILS LIKE THIS WHILE DRIVING.

  • 11/26/2024· STEERING

The power steering motor prevents proper movement of the steering wheel by forcing it back to the center if moved in either direction, making turning impossible. The wheel allows only about 5 degrees of movement before violently snapping back to center. When I attempted to replicate the issue at startup, the steering initially operated normally, and I was able to turn the wheel approximately 90 degrees. However, it suddenly and forcefully snapped back to center, striking my hand. This occurred while the car was stationary. The malfunction in the power steering motor or its control system makes the car undrivable, as the steering wheel actively resists turning. The first incident occurred while driving in a parking lot, but thankfully at low speed. The car had to be towed. This presents a significant safety issue.

  • 11/26/2024· STEERING

The vehicle at low speed unexpectedly lost power steering making it impossible to steer. The resistance was greater than on a vehicle without power steering as if the steering mechanism was working to prevent steering. This is the second incident for me -- the first occurring in September, but immediately resolving itself.

WHILE IN MOTION, THE LARGE SCREEN GOES BLACK AND ALL AUDIO IS LOST, EVEN THE SOUND THE BLINKER MAKES. I CAN NOT RESTART IT, IT JUST TAKES TIME AND USUALLY RESTARTS ITSELF. BUT WHENEVER IT RESTARTS ITSELF, AUDIO STILL DOES NOT WORK. SOMETIMES IT NEVER COMES BACK ON DURING THE DRIVE. IT APPEARS TO BE THE MCU AND EMMCU CHIP. APPARENTLY TESLA KNOWS ABOUT THIS, I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND HAVE ASKED THAT THE CHIP BE REPLACED. THEY HAVE SO FAR REFUSED AND KEEP DIAGNOSING THE ISSUE WITH NO RESOLVE. THEY WANT ME TO UPGRADE TO AN INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM, WHICH THEY SAY WILL FIX THE ISSUE, BUT THATS $2500.

TOUCH SCREEN IS COMPLETELY BLACK MULTIPLE TIMES PER WEEK. USUALLY AT BEGINNING OF TRIPS, BUT OCCASIONALLY SUDDENLY OCCURS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRIPS. BLACK OUT CAN LAST UPWARDS OF 10 MINUTES (PER SMARTPHONE STOP WATCH). TOUCHSCREEN BLACKOUT LIMITS ACCESS TO FOG LIGHT CONTROLS, BACK UP CAMERA, GARAGE CONTROLS, PASSENGER AIRBAG STATUS INDICATOR, AND ALL AUDIBLE WARNINGS INCLUDING EMERGENCY BRAKE ALERT AND TURN SIGNAL NOISES. THE VEHICLE IS COVERED UNDER TESLA'S NEW EXTENDED WARRANTY. I REQUESTED SERVICE ON 10/17. WAS SCHEDULED TO BRING CAR IN ON 11/12 (NEXT AVAILABLE). THEY SAID IT WAS DONE ON 11/13 AFTER ONLY COMPLETING A DIAGNOSTIC AND A FIRMWARE FLASH. NO HARDWARE MODIFICATIONS WERE COMPLETED. SAME SYMPTOMS REOCCURRED ON 11/23. I CONTACTED THEM THAT SAME DAY AND THEY GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT OF 12/18. TODAY (11/24) THEY CONTACTED ME TO RECOMMEND I CANCEL THE APPOINTMENT AS THE ISSUE IS (THEY SAY) SOFTWARE BASED AND THEY "FOUND NO ISSUES WITH THE HARDWARE" VIA REMOTE DIAGNOSTIC. VIDEO LINK BELOW OF A RECENT 7 MINUTE BLACK OUT. HTTPS://PHOTOS.APP.GOO.GL/3BDBAFQ7YLVJTXFU7 I HAVE ATTEMPTED MULTIPLE FORMS OF RESET/REBOOT WHEN THIS OCCURS WITH NO NOTABLE IMPROVEMENTS.

I HAVE REACHED OUT TO TESLA TO FIX THE PROBLEMS I'VE BEEN HAVING WITH MY MCU, MULTIPLE TIMES. THEY ALWAYS TRY TO COME UP WITH SOME EXCUSE NOT TO REPLACE IT WITH THE MCU2. ONE SERVICE TECH ACTUALLY TOLD ME THAT MY PROBLEMS WOULD BE SOLVED IF I PURCHASED THE 'INFOTAINMENT UPGRADE' THAT GIVES ME THE NEW MCU. ANOTHER TECH TOLD ME THAT THE MCU ISN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AT ALL. I REFUSE TO PAY $2500 FOR AN 'UPGRADE' TO FIX MY PROBLEMS, WHEN THIS SHOULD BE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE CAMERA FAILURES RESULTING IN DRIVER AID FUNCTIONALITY BEING REDUCED OR ELIMINATED ALL TOGETHER, AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS BY RECALIBRATING THE CAMERAS. I HAVE HAD DOOR HANDLES STOP WORKING AT RANDOM TIMES, THAT END UP REQUIRING A FULL RESET OF THE CAR TO REPAIR. MY CENTRAL SCREEN CRASHES/REBOOTS AT RANDOM, WHETHER OR NOT THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. WHEN THAT HAPPENS, NONE OF THE CONTROLS ON THE TOUCHSCREEN ARE USABLE, AND SOME OF THOSE ARE WHAT I CONSIDER TO BE ESSENTIAL CONTROLS. FOR INSTANCE, CLIMATE/DEFOGGING ABILITY IS REDUCED OR ELIMINATED. I HAVE BEEN IN FOR SERVICE MULTIPLE TIMES NOW, ALMOST ALL OF THE APPOINTMENTS WERE FOR THINGS CONTROLLED BY THE MCU. THEY ALSO HAVE TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR THE EMMC WARRANTY REPAIR/REPLACEMENT, BECAUSE IT ONLY COVERS 'END OF LIFE' COMPONENTS. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE FULL WARRANTY AS WELL. I HAVE ANOTHER OUTSTANDING SERVICE APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 1ST. I HAVE REQUESTED A NEW MCU AGAIN, BUT WILL NOT BE SURPRISED IF THEY DENY ME. I HAVE MANY PHOTOGRAPHS AND SCREENSHOTS AS EVIDENCE.

WE WERE IN A PARKING LOT OF "KIDQUEST MUSEUM" IN BELLEVUE , WA. , TAKING OUR GRAND DAUGHTER, ONE YEAR OLD, TO THE MUSEUM. OUR CAR WAS IN STATIONARY POSITION. WE WERE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE TO PARK. DURING THIS TIME, OUR MODEL X, TOOK OFF WITH UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND WE COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR. IT WAS INSTANTANEOUS, OUR CAR WENT AND HIT A PARKED CHEVY VAN. THIS VAN FWENT UPSIDE DOWN AND WENT OVER THE FENCE INTO THE LOT NEXT TO IT. AFTER THE IMPACT OUR CAR WENT AND HIT ELETRIC POLE, WENT INTO BUSHES AND OVER AN ELECTRICAL BOX OF 5 BY 5. I COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR. THERE WAS SMOKE IN THE CAR (MY WIFE THINKS SMOKE MIGHT HAVE STARTED WHILE THE CAR WAS ACCELERATING"). MUSEUM STAFF CAME AND OPENED THE PASSENGER DOOR. AFTER SHE GOT OUT, FIRST THING THEY DID WAS TO OPEN THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND TOOK OUT OUR GRANDDAUGHTER. I CAME OUT THRU PASSENGER DOO. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS HURT. MANY OF THE AIRBAGS CAME OUT. WE ARE UNBELIEVABLY LUCKY. THE PARKING LOT IS APPROXIMATELY 100 FT X 100. THIS IS THE PARKING LOT USUALLY WHERE MANY KIDS ARE IN THE LOT. FORTUNATELY THAT MOMENT THERE WAS NONE. ACCIDENT HAPPENED AROUND 4:20 P.M . WEATHER WAS GRAY BUT NO RAIN. WE STILL CAN NOT COMPREHEND HOW CAR CAN TAKE OFF AT THAT SPEED. NONE OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM OR THE CAMERAS WORKED TO STOP THE CAR

THIS IS A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE ABSOLUTE MADNESS OF TESLA AUTOPILOT. HERE IS JUST ONE MORE EXAMPLE OF HOW DANGEROUS THIS SO CALLED AUTOPILOT REALLY IS. FROM TODAY'S FORUM POSTS. HTTPS://TESLAMOTORSCLUB.COM/TMC/THREADS/NAG-REDUCED-WITH-2017-46.102558/ D21MIKE, TODAY AT 6:01 PM BERTX SAID: ↑ HOLD THE WHEEL LIGHTLY WITH ONE HAND JUST ABOVE THE FLAT PORTION AT THE BOTTOM, ALONG THE SIDE, JUST LETTING THE WEIGHT OF YOUR HAND BEAR DOWN. DON'T STEER, BUT DON'T KEEP THE AP FROM STEERING. YOU WILL NEVER, EVER GET A NAG. IF YOU NEED TO DO SOMETHING WITH YOUR HANDS, THEN DO IT AND PUT ONE BACK WHEN YOU CAN. SWITCH HANDS IF YOU NEED TO. PROP YOUR ELBOW ON THE CONSOLE. THIS IS WHAT I DO AS WELL. WORKS REALLY WELL. *** THIS IS CONTRARY TO THE ADVICE GIVEN BY EVERY DRIVING SCHOOL AND EVERY REGULATORY AUTHORITY IN THE WORLD. HAVING ONE HAND LOOSELY RESTING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WHEEL WILL NOT ALLOW THE DRIVER TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE . THE MARKETING OF THIS AUTOPILOT FEATURE HAS BEEN GROSSLY IRRESPONSIBLE AND THE CLAIM THAT IT IS 40% SAFER THAN A HUMAN DRIVER IS SIMPLY LUDICROUS. INTERNET FORUMS AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS SHOW THAT OWNERS ARE PUTTING LIVES IN DANGER BY USING THIS FEATURE ON NARROW WINDING ROADS AND IN INAPPROPRIATE SITUATIONS. TESLA WILL ALWAYS CLAIM THAT AUTOPILOT WAS NOT ENGAGED AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH BECAUSE IT DISENGAGES THE MOMENT BEFORE IMPACT. THIS IS NOT A LAUGHING MATTER. PLEASE STOP THIS MADNESS BEFORE MORE LIVES ARE LOST.
