The abs module started throwing a code and had to be replaced in 2022 which cost me around 900.00 dollars and the same module has malfunctioned again in 2023. This seems to be a very common problem with 2017 and 2018 ram 2500 trucks. This module should be recalled for parts and labor.

my truck has 130,000 miles on it currently. At approximately 37,000 miles the ABS and Stability systems stopped working due to a faulty Hydraulic pump. I paid $800 to have the pump and control module replaced at the dealership. The brakes worked normally for approximately 20,000 miles. Around 60,000 miles the ABS and Stability systems stopped working again with the same fault codes as before. The pump has failed again due to a stuck brush in the motor. repair parts are not available and I've been forced to continue driving my vehicle with reduced braking and handling performance for the last 90,000 miles. The manufacture needs to get it together and produce parts that will not fail and they need to be replaced at their cost.

A Hydraulic Control Unit malfunction resulting in multiple warning lamps flashing on and off intermittently - including the ABS, the EBS, the Traction Control, and the Cruise Control. This is apparently a known issue with this model year truck and is inclusive of a class action lawsuit, yet there has been no recall. This failure results in unpredictable breaking and/or the ability to break and operate, especially in slippery conditions. This replacement repair is estimated at $1,100-1,300 on top of incredible uneasiness to operate the vehicle.

ABS Module and or HCU finally quit working. Loss of cruise control, ESC (traction control), 4x4 and speed sensor not registering. Had now storm around the 1st of December and got stuck on road in front of house due to loss of traction control and 4x4 not engaging. Dealer had said 4x4 was working when they informed me the ABS module needed replacement. It currently at a private diesel repair shop and they confirmed the ABS module needs replacement. Currently awaiting a ship and repair service to see if the module will work and fix the loss of above. There were two warning lamps on the dash lit up. The ABS and Traction Control light. I am hoping that all I need is the module repaired and that I don’t need the HCU replaced. This is super frustrating because there is a recall on the parts but the dealer and the company are in no hurry to find a remedy for the issue.

It seems that there is a failure problem with a ABS component on these trucks. I have already replace the hydraulic control unit once on my truck at about 27,000 miles and now I am experiencing the same problem again at about 45,500 miles. The ABS and traction control warning lights have come on again indicating a problem. It will flash service anti-lock braking system and service electronic braking system but never really stays on all the time, these lights also will cause the cruise control to shut off. Usually only comes on while driving on bumpy roads, but will come on and go off a very excessive amount while driving. This seems to be a problem with a lot of people with this truck as I have seen from my research into the problem and I think the Ram needs to address the issue with a recall and not make people pay $600-$800 to have the vehicle serviced to fix the issue that I'm having for the second time!

I am writing to formally demand that Stellantis replace the drag link assembly on my 2017 Ram 2500 at no cost to me. The welding performed during Safety Recall V06 in 2019 has rendered my vehicle unable to receive proper wheel alignment, creating an ongoing safety issue and causing premature tire wear. Background In 2019, my vehicle was brought to dealer to have Safety Recall V06 performed. The recall procedure involved welding the jam nuts to the adjuster sleeve on the drag link. I was not informed at the time that this welding would permanently prevent future alignment adjustments to the drag link. Approximately three months ago, I purchased new tires for my vehicle. When I took my truck to have a wheel alignment performed, I was informed that the alignment cannot be completed because the drag link jam nuts are welded and cannot be adjusted. The alignment is significantly out of specification, causing uneven tire wear and compromised vehicle handling. Current Situation I contacted Hendricks Ram in Cary NC regarding this issue. The dealership has confirmed that: 1.My vehicle cannot be properly aligned due to the welded drag link 2.Ram/Stellantis is refusing to break the welds and replace with the new adjustable drag link kit 3.I am being asked to pay approximately $2,000 out of pocket to correct a problem that was directly caused by Stellantis's recall repair Legal and Regulatory Basis for This Demand October 2023 TSB Update: Stellantis issued revised Technical Service Bulletin instructions for Recall V06 in October 2023 (RCRIT-19V021-0837). This TSB provides that vehicles should be inspected and, depending on conditions found, either have the nuts permanently welded OR the drag link replaced. My vehicle's alignment is out of specification and cannot be corrected—this clearly qualifies for drag link replacement under the revised procedures.

This has been going on since May of 2022 Every time I start my truck I get a warning that my ABS is not working and that my electronic braking needs to be serviced. While these lights are active, I have no ABS, traction control, or cruise control. After about 10 to 15 minutes of driving, the warnings go out. The lights sometimes will stay off for twenty to thirty minutes, but normally flash on between off and on at random intervals. I also noticed that I immediately loose ASB and traction control during emergency braking. The lack of ABS has recently caused me to lock up the wheels on wet concrete while towing a camper as a car cut me off to exit the highway. The lock-up caused the trailer to jack-knife, and nearly roll over an embankment. I

Purchased truck used Fall 2021 with only 27k miles. After less than year and about 8k miles. ABS warning lights and sound randomly and erratically became an annoying problem. The cause is a defective Hydraulic Control Unit. Ram truck owners have posted hundreds if not thousands of complaints on the internet regarding this. Anyway, I had to disconnect the fuse for the ABS Module to prevent the annoying, interfering malfunction. The truck brakes safely but there is not the additional safety of the ABS system. The newer version of the Hydraulic Control Unit is not available and backordered until at least the end of January, 2023. Dodge Ram owners of these trucks can't even pay high dealer repair prices because no one has the part. I believe 2019 and newer models have the same problem but Ram has issued a recall for those model years.

Completed a hard stop, but ABS system did not appear to work correctly. Once stop was completed, had two malfunction lamps and a "service ABS warning". Lights and warning went away once I resumed driving. In a separate incident, I took off from a stop in wet conditions and the traction control system did not appear to be working, vehicle spun the rear tires an abnormal amount. Once this happened, the warning lights and error message returned, but went away upon further driving. I visited the dealer and had them pull the error code and it was "C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE". There is an active technical bulletin stating the issue is with the hydraulic control unit (HCU). It appears to me that this problem disables the antilock brakes as well as the traction control system. The danger here is that the warning lamps and error messages go away, leading one to believe the system is functioning normal when in fact it is not. I was advised by the dealer that the replacement part is unavailable and could be for several months.

THIS IS FOR A DIESEL ENGINE VEHICLE. PERIODICALLY (EVERY FEW DAYS), FOR 2 TO 5 MINUTES AT A TIME, UNTREATED DIESEL EXHAUST GASES ENTER THE CABIN THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AIR VENT WHEN THE VENTILATION FAN IS ON. THIS OCCURS GENERALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AT LOWER SPEEDS OR NOT MOVING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IF I STOP THE VENTILATION AND OPEN THE WINDOWS, MORE EXHAUST GASES ENTER THE CABIN THROUGH THE WINDOWS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I HAVE STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WALKED AROUND AND SMELLED THESE GASES AT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, UNDER THE HOOD, BUT NOT AT THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN COINCIDENTALLY WITH A REGEN CYCLE. STOPPING THE VENTILATION WITHOUT OPENING THE WINDOWS, STOPS THE SMELL IN THE CABIN, BUT NOT IN THE ENVIRONMENT OUTSIDE OF THE CABIN, THE SMELL IS DEFINITELY PURE UNTREATED DIESEL EXHAUST. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NEARBY DEALERSHIP WHO DID SOME QUICK TROUBLESHOOTING BUT DID NOT FIND THE ISSUE. I DID SOME QUICK SEARCHES ON THE INTERNET AND EASILY FOUND A LARGE NUMBER OF POSITIVE HITS FOR THE SAME ISSUE WITH A SIMILAR OUTCOME AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE, AND PEOPLE MENTION THAT THEY TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE MECHANICS ARE UNABLE TO FORCE A REGEN AND TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. SOME PEOPLE REPORT THAT CHRYSLER SAYS THAT THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION AND RECOMMENDS TURNING OFF THE VENTILATION. I HAVE NOT TALKED TO CHRYSLER MYSELF, I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ONCE. I HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS TRUCKS STEERING BEFORE. Complaint#11253556. The recall on the DRAG LINK, which effects steering, has NOT been corrected even tho the recall "weld fix" was done. The truck STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT. I have had 4 wheel alignments. There is NO room for any alignment to be effective. I complained about this problem BEFORE the recall and it NEEDS TO BE FIXED. The dealer has done nothing to help.

My 2017 Ram 2500 diesel pickup truck has a failure code of C0020-01 - ABS Pump Motor Control General Electrical Failure. This is for the antilock brakes. I had an outside repair shop check the code with a scan tool along with a Ram dealership. The warning light & alarm goes on and off non stop when driving or even sitting still (very annoying) which also means my antilock brakes are not working. In Michigan, that is a very helpful safety feature when driving on snow and ice. I have contacted the factory Ram customer service number 4 times now and all I'm told is it is out of warranty. I could see that if the truck had, say 100,000 miles on it, but it only has 22,000 miles on it and the antilock brakes need to be worked on already? I'm not asking for new brake pads here. This is a safety issue and Ram Trucks should be forced into a recall about it. I am not the only one. Google it and you will find many, and I mean many trucks having the same issue and many comment, why isn't there a recall on such a safety item as antilock brakes. When talking to the service rep, he said they don't have the parts in stock and they do not have an ETA when any will be available. Makes me wonder if so many others are buying them, they cannot get enough to keep up with demand. We all want safer roads. So I ask, why do we have auto manufacturers install antilock brake systems on new vehicles and then not stand behind them? I realize my truck is out of warranty, but 22,000 miles on my truck and I need serious brake work already? Unexcusable Ram!

RAM has 18,000+ REAL miles on odometer when ABS / TRACTION CONTROL warning lights came on. Which means no ABS nor Traction assist. Research tells me this is a VERY common problem on several years of RAM trucks. Parts (like ABS modul ) are nearly impossible to get and many replacements have failed thereafter. This is a serious issue affecting many RAM trucks. This is obviously a design / manufacturing issue with this ABS system. No ABS on vehicles made to safely carry loads is lethality looking for a place to happen. The vehicle has been looked at by multiple mechanics and any obvious issues were not observed. Wiring connections were in pristine condition. This vehicle has never been used off road nor in snow / icy conditions. This is absolutely a safety defect that does not even offer OEM replacement parts and when gotten, those gotten fail again!

1. Failure to Address a Safety Recall Promptly When scheduling the appointment, I informed the dealership of an open safety recall (Recall V06, NHTSA 19V-021) involving the steering linkage jam nut (a defect which can cause loss of steering control). This recall is critical for safety, yet I was told on the phone that the dealership “could not work on it yet” due to unspecified changes being made by the manufacturer. Upon arrival, I asked again about this recall. The service advisor stated it would require a separate appointment with a “special mechanic” and thus declined to even inspect the vehicle that day. This is extremely disheartening – a known safety defect (announced in January 2019) remains unaddressed on my truck almost seven years later, and the dealership made no effort to expedite or even evaluate the need for repair. As a loyal Dodge customer, I am very concerned that an authorized dealer would postpone a safety recall inspection, leaving me driving a potentially unsafe vehicle. Safety recalls should be handled with urgency, and I urge Dodge to ensure that this recall (V06) is rectified on my truck immediately. It is unacceptable that I must continue driving with a defect that “can result in a loss of steering control… causing a crash without warning,” according to the recall description I found on your site.

ABS breaking failure/warning on an intermittent but ongoing basis. Specifically, repeated failures of anti-lock brake modulator valve that causes ABS system to not function properly. Sometimes the ABS warning light flashes on and off, sometimes it stays on for weeks. RAM knows about the problem with part number 68143491AA. They replaced it for me once on 3/1/2022 at 50,650 miles but put in the exact same failing part. It started to fail again September 2, 2023. I had it diagnosed 11/21/2023 (as soon as I could get it in). It's the exact same issue. These vehicles are hazardous to drive. They have a replacement part now 68143491AB, but they refuse to pay for the repair leaving customers to to afford the expensive repair, drive the vehicles in an unsafe condition, or not use the vehicle at all.

While traveling westbound on I-64 at highway speed (~65 MPH), I experienced a complete tire failure of the driver's side front fire. It was first experienced as severe front-end vibration that made control of the vehicle difficult; there were no warnings or other indications of imminent failure. Fortunately, I was able to get the vehicle to the roadway's shoulder without injury or accident. Upon exiting the vehicle, I noticed that the left front tire was flat, and a portion of the tire's tread was protruding above the surface of the tire. Because of vehicle's location/proximity to the interstate, both vehicle occupants were at risk of serious injury if a crash were to occur; the vehicle was also a hazard to passing traffic. Minimizing some risks, we were assisted on scene by the Virginia State Police as well as a VDOT Motorist Assist vehicle until the vehicle was able to be towed away. Tire information: COOPER Discoverer AT3 285/60/20 purchased on 10 July 2021 Mileage at time of installation 56,707, mileage at time of failure 78,622 total miles on tire: 21,915 Tire is available for inspection

I have code C0020-01-ABS Pump motor control on in my 2017 Ram 2500 for almost two years. I bought it used at a dealership in Maryland in June 2022 and each time I check with them, the part to fix it is backordered or not available. According to a Star online publication dated 4/28/20 from FCA, when this code is on the HCU and the ECU should be tested and replaced, but the abs module is on parts restriction. Also, NHTSA ODI (NEF-102ig PE22-012) sent a letter to Head, vehicle safety compliance FCA, on January 23, 2023, notifying them that NHTSA had opened a Preliminary Evaluation to investigate allegations of intermittent or permanent loss of braking performance in my truck type and year. I feel this is a severe safety Hazzard and a fix to repair should be immediately available, and a recall issued so the solution is free of charge to owners. At the time of the letter there were 134 reports, but can only imagine there are plenty more by now. Also, I’m sure there are thousands of owners who don’t know about this yet. Thank you.
