GATE BRUSHED CHILD'S BACK AND CONTINUED TO CLOSE . OWNER THEN PLACED SEVERAL INAMINATE OBJECTS UNDER REAR OF CAR PROTRUDING FROM CARGO HOLD AND ENGAGED THE LIFT GATE. GATE CLOSED EACH TIME UNRESTRICTED TRAPPING THE OBJECT. CALLED KIA REPORTED PROBLEM.

  I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP DEC 09 2019 (MILEAGE 56176) AS INSTRUCTED BY SERVICE TECH IN ORDER FOR THEM TO CHECK REASON THIS VEHICLE IS USING A LOT OF OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. SERVICE TECH CHECKED OIL AND FOUND OIL WAS DOWN 1.25 QTS. SERVICE TECH OPENED TECH LINE CASE AND SENT PICTURES TO KIA. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO RETURN TO DEALERSHIP TO RECHECK OIL LEVEL IN 1000 MILES. TODAY, DEC. 30 2019, (MILEAGE 57231) I RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP. OIL WAS DOWN 1 QT. AFTER 1055 MILES. IF YOU DO THE MATH, ENGINE ONLY HOLDS 5.5 QUARTS OF OIL, IF I GO THE ENTIRE 7500 MILES IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGE(AS PER OWNER MANUAL) I WOULD BE OUT OF OIL.SERVICE TECH ADDED 1 QT. OIL AND PUT IN A SEALED DIPSTICK SO I CANNOT CHECK OIL LEVEL. HOW AM I TO KNOW OIL LEVEL? I PARK VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE. WHEN I QUESTIONED TECH ABOUT THIS HE SAID IT WAS ON KIA'S LIABILITY IF SOMETHING WERE TO HAPPEN. I WOULD KNOW WHEN THE ENGINE IS OUT OF OIL, THE ENGINE WILL START KNOCKING, AND HE MADE THE KNOCKING SOUND ON THE COUNTER. THAT IS REALLY HELPING MY HUSBAND AND I COMFORT LEVEL, IF SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED, WHAT DOES IT MATTER? THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROADS THAT COULD BE INJURED OR KILLED IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE COULD CATCH ON FIRE, CAUSE INJURIES OR DEATH TO US AND / OR OTHERS. SERVICE TECH WOULD NOT SAY WHAT KIA IS DOING ABOUT THIS MATTER WHEN I ASKED HIM. HE JUST SAID KIA IS LOOKING INTO IT. HE GAVE MY HUSBAND AND I THE IMPRESSION HE KNOWS WHAT IS GOING ON, HE SAID HE WAS NOT AT LIBERTY TO DISCUSS ANY FURTHER. THE SERVICE TECH ALSO STATED THAT IT IS UP TO THE OWNERS TO CHECK THEIR OWN OIL LEVELS. NOW I CANNOT CHECK THE OIL LEVEL, IT HAS A SEALED DIPSTICK. HE IS CONTRADICTING HIMSELF, MAKE NO SENSE.

  I bought my Sorento new in 2017 and had been taking it in to the dealership for regular maintenance. It started drinking oil a few months ago and an in-warranty oil consumption test was done. It's still using a lot of oil AND now it has a bad cylinder and needs a new $5,000 engine. It's out of warranty now and I'm disappointed that regular service appointments over the last five years didn't prevent this. It makes them seem pointless in retrospect.

  The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph when the vehicle began to lag in acceleration when attempting to go uphill. The driver noticed a spark within the instrument panel directly behind the steering wheel. The driver then immediately pulled over and both the driver and the passenger (the contact) exited the vehicle. The vehicle then caught fire. The fire department showed and distinguished the fire. A report was made. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure. A case was opened regarding the matter. The approximate failure mileage was unknown

  THE STEERING ON MY SORENTO EX FEELS 'STICKY' AND UNSAFE. WHENEVER DRIVING, WHETHER IN THE CITY, ON THE HIGHWAY, OR IN A NEIGHBORHOOD, IT FEELS AS THOUGH THE STEERING WHEEL IS CONSTANTLY GETTING STUCK FOR HALF OF A SECOND AND NEEDS CONSISTENT READJUSTMENT. THE PROBLEM IS ESPECIALLY EVIDENT WHEN DRIVING AROUND A TURN, BUT IT IS VERY NOTICEABLE EVEN WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD OR HIGHWAY.

  I was driving and heard a loud noise. The car started to hesitate and was making a knocking noise. I pulled over and had it towed where I was told it was a rod bearing failure and I needed a new engine. It had 130,000 miles. I have been reading online and found a lot of vehicles with the same engine as mine where this has happened and there are no recalls. Engines size 3.3L V6. Right now the car is sitting. I still owe on it and can’t afford to have it fixed. The oil was changed regularly. It was changed four weeks before this happened. No warnings.

  1 WEEK AFTER PURCHASING MY 2017 KIA SORENTO FE AWD FROM ROCHESTER TOM KADLEC KIA IN AUGUST 2019, I WENT TO USE MY CRUISE CONTROL AND IT WOULDN'T SET. "CRUISE" CAME ON, BUT COULD NOT BE SET TO MY SPEED. ISSUE HAPPENED AROUND 1-2 TIMES A WEEK ON 45 MILE COMMUTE ON HIGHWAY. LATER ON ABOUT A MONTH LATER, I SET MY CRUISE CONTROL AND ONCE SET, THE SPEED BEGAN TO CLIMB. STARTING AT 65, AND GOING UP TO 70 BEFORE I HAD TO USE MY BRAKES TO TURN CRUISE CONTROL OFF AS THE BUTTONS DIDN'T WORK. ON DEC 16TH, MY CAR SHOWED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEN STALLED AFTER PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE FROM REVERSE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, THEN BACK ON AND DROVE "NORMALLY". TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP SAME DAY FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY READ THE CODES, "P2106, P2110, P063 LIMP MODE AND THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL RANGE" THEY ALSO NOTED MY VEHICLE HAS A TIMING COVER GASKET AND OIL PAN GASKET LEAK, AND MY BATTERY TESTED AT 12.39VOLTS AND 339CCA OUT OF 640CCA. RECOMMENDED BATTERY REPLACEMENT. MY SHOP ASKED ME TO CHECK THE DEALERSHIP FOR MY WARRANTY, AND IT'S 5 YEARS OR 60,000 MILES. I CAME INTO THE SHOP AT 62,334 MILES. THE KIA DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO LOOK INTO THE ISSUE UNLESS I PAID 160 FOR THEIR OWN INSPECTION, AND EVEN THEN, IT'D BE HIGHLY UNLIKELY THEY WOULD DO ANY GOODWILL REPAIR. REPLACED BATTERY 12/26/19 AFTER MULTIPLE FAILURES AND JUMPS TO START, AND FINALLY WOULDN'T TAKE A CHARGE OR JUMP.

  TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO METRO KIA OF MADISON (5442 WAYNE TERRACE, MADISON, WI 53718) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V907000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, ENGINE). THE DEALER REPLACED THE KNOCK SENSOR. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE TRAVELING 45 MPH, THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR FLASHING. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN A NEW UNKNOWN RECALL. THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN THE POSSESSION OF THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.

  VEHICLE WAS PARKED, AND RUNNING, ON SLOPED DRIVEWAY. MY WIFE, WHO HAD EXITED THE CAR, RETURNED TO TURN THE CAR OFF. SHE OPENED THE DOOR AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. THE CAR THEN BEGAN ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. THE CAR DOOR WAS STILL OPEN AND MY WIFE ENDED UP RUNNING BACKWARDS WITH THE CAR, WHICH WENT INTO A STREET AND HIT A CURB. THE DOOR HIT MY MY WIFE IN THE HEAD CAUSING HER TO FALL. SHE SUSTAINED ROAD RASH ABRASIONS ON HER HIP AND SHOULDER. SHE HAS NO RECOLLECTION OF THE INCIDENT. SHE SPENT A NIGHT IN THE HOSPITAL AND HAD TO UNDERGO A CT SCAN, BRAIN MRI, EEG AND HIP XRAY. ALL THOSE TURNED OUT NEGATIVE. THE DIAGNOSIS FROM THE DOCTOR WAS TRANSIENT GLOBAL AMNESIA.

  AS I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN ON TO A BUSY HIGHWAY, MY GAS PEDDLE STOPPED WORKING AND I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. MY CAR WAS TAKEN TO KIA AND HAD A WIRE REPLACED THAT CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER. A FEW DAYS LATER AS I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE MY CAR WAS TRYING TO DRIVE ITSELF. MY CAR WAS TRYING TO EXCEL FASTER THAN I WANTED IT TO GO. I WAS BEHIND A TRACKER TRAILER AND I WAS SCARED I WAS GOING TO HIT IT. MY CAR IS NOW AT KIA SERVICE. THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE THE FULL THROTTLE BODY BUT THEN RECEIVED NOTICE TO PUT A HALT ON THAT BECAUSE OF ANOTHER ISSUE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE PUTTING MY CHILDREN BACK IN THIS VEHICLE.

  The vehicle is in immacutlate condition and when I went to wash it yesterday I noticed what appear to be a spot. When I sprayed with water the paint peeled off and I noted that it is dowing this on other spots on the bumper. I take excellent care of this car and to see paint peeling off when the car has not even done 100,000 miles is very disappointing. Only to find that Kia has had compaints and it is documented that many customers have had issues with the snow white pearl paint peeling. Why has Kia not offered to rectify the situation. the vehicle is available for inspection but it is my understanding that Kia only warranty's the paint for one year. I have sent photos to indicate how well the car has been mainatined as well as the peeling paint. The system will not allow me to upload files it skips to personal info. Photos available

  DECEMBER 19,2019 OUR 2017 KIA SORRENTO WITH 37K MILES ON IT WOULD NOT START. THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW ZERO AND THOUGHT THAT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT. INITIALLY THE CAR TRIED TURNING OVER BUT AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS, IT STOPPED DOING ANYTHING. WE WORKED THROUGH A NUMBER OF PROBLEM SOLVING STEPS AND AFTER A WHILE CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY TOWED THE CAR TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP WHERE WE LEASED IT FROM. ON DECEMBER 23, WE CALLED FOR A STATUS AND WERE TOLD THE ENGINE IS SEIZED. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THE OIL DRAINED WAS BLACK AND SLUDGE. THEY WENT ON TO SAY WE DID NOT CHANGE THE OIL AND WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A NEW ENGINE AND LABOR. THE OIL WAS CHANGED ON TIME AS THE KIA REMINDS YOU OF THE SERVICE. THERE WAS NO NOTICE OR INDICATION THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE, JUST SEIZED. AT APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES ON THE CAR, THE TRANSMISSION BLEW AND NEEDED THAT REPAIRED AS WELL. SEEING OTHERS DESCRIBE A SIMILAR ISSUE MAKES ME THINK THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW. KIA SHOULD MAKE THIS A RECALL AND PROVIDE RESTITUTION.

  My Kia Sorento uses roughly 2-4 quarts of oil every week or 2. The smell of oil is so strong in the car it’s almost unbearable. Just this week the the alert about a door being open is going off and the locks are malfunctioning. It locks and unlocks at random and it keeps sayings a door is open when it isn’t. The cruise control also stopped working.

  Consistent excessive oil consumption from about 90k until it died at 127k while on the highway going 65+mph. Oil Light flashed. Check engine light flashed. Made it onto the exit ramp and exited the vehicle very shook up. Vehicle would not start unless using two feet. One to flutter the gas while other on the break to be able to throw it into gear and chug the 2 miles home from the highway. Towed it to the Kia dealership in vestal Ny in June 2023. They had my vehicle for over 2 months before we had a plan. We called Kia with no response. No email followup no snail mail followup. Called again in October to be told my vehicle did not have any compression in 2 cylinders but it couldn’t pass or fail the test therefore they couldn’t determine the cause. Because they could not determine the cause my vehicle would not be covered at all. My Sorento had regular oil changes and maintenance done at the dealership as that’s where I purchased the Sorento new in 2017. After we rolled over 100k when the warranty was up we began shopping around for oil changes due to the dealership being outrageous. My vehicle has been sitting dead while I lay $555 a month on the existing loan. I will never buy a Kia again and will be telling everyone else the same. Thank you.

  The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle was then towed to Kia at Williamsburg (3012 Richmond Rd B, Williamsburg, VA 23185) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced; however, the replacement part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 77,571.

  The oil pressure switch sensor is going bad. Common problem with the 3.3 Lambda V6 engine. The oil light comes on when the vehicle is at idle. I now have an oil leak which is another symptom of the sensor going bad. Costly repair, sensor located deep in the engine between the two cylinder banks. This is a fire hazard with oil pooling on top of the engine if not repaired.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,100.

  Steering has a sticky or notchy feel. When going around bends/curves the vehicle proceeds to turn without the need of hands on the wheel. Steering feels like you have to break it out of place, which leads to oversteering out of lane. The issue is constant . Vehicle is not only putting myself at risk, but other drivers if not able to turn or avoid traffic. Problem has been reproduced and confirmed by dealer. Dealer advised to replace entire steering column which is about $2,600. There are no warning lights but issue was noticed after first buying the vehicle. Vehicle has no history of accidents nor indications of damage.

  We bought this vehicle on September 23, 2023 It had 72,935 miles. On October 15, 2003 After three weeks of having it, the check engine light came on. We took it a mechanic to diagnose the problem, he said it was the intake camshaft position sensor. We had it replaced o, and the engine light disappeared. We though that was the end of it but no. About a month later (mid November) the check engine light came on again, We contacted a local mechanic who said it might be the crankshaft or the time chain, he was supposed to call back with an estimate, but he didn't. We continued to drive it while trying to figure out what to do next, and two weeks later, on Dec 6 while driving home after picking my son from school, I heard a laud rattle noise, the vehicle slowed down, I though it was going to die completely, many lights on the dashboard came on, I don't remember which ones, (only the battery light) I knew it should not be the battery since we had just bought one brand new. Anyway, I pulled over to the side of road. I turned it off. After a minute or so, I turned it on again, and was able to make it home. The loud noise continued so turned on the hazard lights on and slowly drove it home. I was not that far. Next Saturday I had it towed to a mechanic we trust and he said the engine had plain failed and that it would be better to replace it. We decided to have it towed back to us. We made an appointment with a Kia dealership to have them confirm what our mechanic said, but they gave us an appointment until January 22, 2024 In the mean time it just sitting there in our garage. We know it had two previous owners. From the Carfax report we know it was serviced regularly. I don't think a vehicle with only 73,000 miles should have a failing engine.

In addition, the vehicle lost motive power, and the engine seized. No warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure was due to the detached crankshaft bearings. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the dealer disassembled the engine and the transmission. The contact stated that when the vehicle was released back to the contact, several parts were missing from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that several of the parts of the vehicle were missing. The vehicle was being repaired. In addition, the contact stated that she had owned three Kia vehicles, and each vehicle experienced the same failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

  SHORTLY AFTER BUYING THE KIA IT DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD STICK WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT. IT TAKES A LITTLE EXTRA EFFORT TO MOVE THE WHEEL PAST THESE STICKING POINTS MOSTLY AT 12 O'CLOCK POSITION AND IT GRADUALLY BECOMES MORE DIFFICULT THE FASTER THE CAR TRAVELS. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS IS QUITE TROUBLESOME AND DANGEROUS AS THE PROBLEM IS AMPLIFIED. WHILE TRAVELING IN TRAFFIC AT HIGHER SPEEDS,WINDY CONDITIONS,SEARCHING YOUR MIRROR TO CHANGE LANES,ETC., IF THE CAR WANDERS SOMETIMES IT CAUSES ME TO OVER CORRECT WHICH IN TURN CAUSES ANOTHER OVER CORRECTION TO RETURN TO THE LANE . I HAVE HAD THESE PROBLEMS ON THE HIGHWAY AND CANNOT FIND A WAY TO ADJUST. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM BUT IF IT HAPPENS IT STAYS FOR THE DURATION OF THE DRIVE, IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE THERE NEXT TIME. A RECENT INCIDENT HAS CAUSED ME TO NOTIFY KIA AND NHTSA. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT NO ONE WAS HURT BUT OVER CORRECTING CAUSED AN INCIDENT THAT SHOOK UP MY WIFE AND I AS I COULD HAVE EASILY LOST CONTROL ON THAT HIGHWAY, IN TRAFFIC AT THAT SPEED AT NIGHT. WE ENDED UP TAKING BACK ROADS. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR BUT THEY FOUND NOTHING. A TECHNICIAN TOLD ME TODAY THAT I PROBABLY NEED TO GET USED TO THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. AFTER A YEAR NOW? HE APPARENTLY KNEW SOMETHING AND HAS ANSWERED SIMILAR QUESTIONS AS I BELIEVE THAT NOT ALL KIA'S HAVE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. IT AMY ALSO BE WEATHER RELATED SINCE IT SEEMED TO RETURN AS THE WEATHER HAS GOTTEN COLDER. I HAVE SEARCHED ON LINE AND HAVE FOUND OTHERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH HYUNDAI AS WELL. I'M LEAVING THE CAR WITH A KIA DEALER 12/26.

  Headlights intermittently turn off when set to the "auto" setting while the vehicle is in use. I received a warranty notification from Kia for the issue and attempted to have it fixed through a Kia dealership. Kia dealership did not have the part to fix it and does not know when they will have the part. This issue first started happening in October 2023. Visit to the dealership was November 22, 2023. Issue is still not resolved.

  The engine threw a rod through the block, it is available upon request. I had driven it to my destination earlier that day, it stayed parked until later in the evening as we were getting ready to go we checked the oil and headed on our way. After 10 min of driving on the highway there was a loud ugly clunk noise, lots of smoke coming from the car and the oil and check engine light turned on and shut off, the engine had no power. We started to pull over we began seeing flames coming from under the hood, the engine had caught on fire before we had completely pulled over and come to a stop. It can't be driven anywhere, we found pieces of piston/connecting rod that were broken and mangled in the engine and later found the hole underneath the car at the bottom of the block. Since the fire was out by the time the officer arrived, he gave us an incident report and drove us home. The car wasn't making a weird noise, wasn't driving funny, it had less than 90k miles on it, no warning lights of any kind on the dash were on until mid accident but they turned off as fast as they came on. It was the LAST thing we expected to happen considering the mileage and no warnings or any kind before that night. Opened a case with Kia Customer Care Center and was told my case was escalated to nationals and they would reach out to me, I called back several times as they didn't have a number to give to me and each time I called i was told there was no update, there is still currently no update or anything, I had to call to reopen my case because an employee had closed my case-reason unknown.

  COMPLAINED ABOUT STEERING WHEEL STICKING FOR THE LAST YEAR. DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH YESTERDAY MOVED INTO THE LEFT LANE TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. I'M NOW IN THE LEFT LANE ABOUT TO PASS THE OTHER VEHICLE AND I NEEDED TO MAKE A LANE CORRECTION TO THE RIGHT HOWEVER THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STUCK AND I HAD TO PULL HARD ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE STEERING WHEEL BROKE LOOSE AND MY VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND CAME WITHIN INCHES OF STRIKING THE VEHICLE I WAS PASSING. SAFETY ISSUE

  I was driving our 2017 Kia Sorento 2.4 liter, on I-94 in Detroit, MI when suddenly, the vehicle would not go over 50 mph when the engine suddenly lost power on Friday 11/28/2025 ..We towed the vehicle to the Auto Repair Shop a few days later. On Tuesday 12/9/2025 the Auto Repair shop contacted us and said that their was plenty of oil in the vehicle but Cylinder 3 misfired and there is a loss of engine compression. Auto shop says cylinder 3 failed and now only 3 cylinders are now working on the 2017 Kia Sorento now mileage is now 94, 971 miles. I have not taken it to the dealer yet because even though there was a class action lawsuit, the Auto Repair shop has informed us, as well as other information online, that the dealer will sometimes try to avoid replacing the engine. I did contact the dealer on 12/10/2025 and informed that we do have maintenance records and have the vehicle towed there this weekend, however, my initial conversation with the Service rep did not sound promising to date.

  I ALWAYS USE AUTO HEADLIGHTS MODE TO OPERATE MY CAR. THE HEADLIGHTS COULD GO DARK FROM 2 TO 6 SECONDS AND THEN THEY WILL GO BACK ON AUTOMATICALLY. IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 7-10 TIMES IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM EXIST DURING DAYTIME BECAUSE IT IS BRIGHT OUT THERE. BUT WHEN IT IS DARK AND THE LIGHTS SUDDENLY GO OFF IT BECOMES A SAFETY HAZARD. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BUT THE ONLY THING THEY TOLD ME IS TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALER. I DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS BECAUSE I FEEL THAT IT WILL BE SO HARD FOR THE DEALER TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND FIND OUT POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS, SO MY TIME WILL BE TOTALLY WASTED AT THE DEALER.

  AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 25MPH TO 70MPH I MUST CONTINUALLY ADJUST THE STEERING WHEEL TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. THE CAR WILL DRIFT TO EITHER THE LEFT OR RIGHT AND FEELS "STICKY" TO TRY TO BRING BACK TO STRAIGHT. STEERING BECOMES UNSTUCK AND THERE IS AN OVER-CORRECTION AND MUST BE REPEATED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. IT FEELS LIKE WEAVING GOING DOWN THE ROAD.SNOW OR ICY CONDITIONS EXAGGERATE THE OVER-CORRECTION.THERE IS 14,000 MILES ON VEHICLE BUT HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE HAVING 5000 MILES. LEASED VEHICLE NEW JULY 2017. SPOKE TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. NO RECALLS OR BULLETINS FOR THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM.VERY CONCERNED STEERING WILL LOCK UP IN A CURVE.

  My name is [XXX] and live in Topsham, ME. I purchased a 2017 Kia Sorrento from Bill Dodge Auto Group Westbrook a few years ago with a warranty that covers it to 100K miles (I am now at 83.699K). About 9 months ago I noticed that the vehicle started to go through large amounts of oil when I by chance decided to check it. I began to notice that it would go through a quart in about 500 miles of normal around town driving. After extensive effort I was able to make an appointment at Bill Dodge where they did a test and determined this was the case. They did do a cleaning and did improve it slightly but I brought it back to them for a thousand mile check although half of this was a highway trip. They measured and said that it was just under a quart after a little over a thousand miles and stated Kia states that this is normal oil consumption. I retested myself and found that I easily burn over a quart within a thousand miles of driving around town. I contacted the warranty administrator and they stated unless there is a failure of some kind then this is not covered under the warranty. I am sure I have no oil leaks. It is obvious to me that the engine is defective and Kia is not taking ownership as I have read online forums that many people have similar problems including engines blowing, sometimes without the warning lights coming on.   While driving 40mph+, steering appears to "stick" and driver has to make a more forceful jerk with the steering wheel to "unstick" the steering. Driver ends up over compensating for stuck steering and is jerking the car on the road. Steering appears to not "stick" as much when going under 40mph. Steering sticks more often going around bends or small turns on the open road.

  OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS, MY ENGINE HAD BEEN BURNING OIL EXCESSIVELY. I HAD TO ADD 5 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1-2 WEEKS. 3 WEEKS AGO, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR BEGAN TO SLOW, THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH WERE BLINKING AND THE CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING. WHEN I WAS IN A SAFE AREA, I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR AND IT DID NOT START. KIA DIAGNOSED THE CAR WITH WORN BEARING RODS. THE CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS 136,000 HIGHWAY MILES.

  ON OCTOBER 10 2019 MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE KIDS TO SCHOOL IN OUR 2017 KIA SORENTO AND BEFORE SHE COULD GET OUT OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD THE CAR STARTED TO JERK UNCONTROLLABLY AND LOST ALL ACCELERATION BEFORE IT CUT OFF. SHE THEN TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR SEVERAL TIME BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFULLY IT IT STARTING BACK UP BEFORE IT STALLED OUT. AFTER THE CAR WAS LEFT ALONE FOR A WHILE I WENT OUT TO THE CAR AND IT STARTED BACK UP AND SEEMED LIKE IT DROVE FINE. WE DID NOT TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT TIME. AFTER THAT MY WIFE SAID THAT SHE FELT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVING LIKE IT SHOULD. SHE SAID THAT YOU BASICALLY HAD TO FLOOR IT FOR IT TO GET UP TO CRUISING SPEED. APPROXIMATELY 6 WEEKS LATER MY WIFE STARTED TO HAVE MORE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. SHE STATED THAT THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM WAS VERY NOTICEABLE AND WAS SCARIED THAT IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT AGAIN BEFORE SHE COULD GET HOME THAT DAY. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET HOME SAFE THAT TIME. LATER ON THAT DAY SHE HAD TO GO BACK OUT AND SHE SAID THAT IT STARTED UP FINE AND DROVE FINE UNTIL WITH OUT WARNING IT JUST SHUT OFF WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSINESS INTERSECTION. THE CAR STARTED UP JUST FINE ONCE IT SHUT OFF AND MY WIFE DROVE IT TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT WHERE IT SAT UNTIL IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE VEHICLE ABOUT 3 WEEKS NOW AND ARE UNABLE REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY HAVE DONE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. SINCE THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO CODES THEN THEY THINK THAT THE VEHICLE IS FINE. SIN E THE CAR CUT OFF ON MY WIFE TWICE IN SIX WEEKS SHE IS SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR IN FEAR THAT IT WILL SHUT OFF ON HER AGAIN. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY KIA. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR THIS COULD HAVE VERY EASILY RESULTED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT
