- EQUIPMENTCampaign 16V686000 · 23/09/2016
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee manufactured August 8, 2016 through August 16, 2016. In the affected vehicles, the rear tow hook bracket or tow eye bracket may be loose.
Risk: If the tow bracket is loose, the bracket may detach from the vehicle while being it is being driven, possibly becoming a road hazard. If the bracket detaches during a vehicle recovery, there may be a loss of control of the towed vehicle. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will confirm both tow hook bracket bolts are properly tightened, free of charge. The recall began on October 31, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S73.
- ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGERCampaign 17E061000 · 19/10/2017
Accessible Technologies, Inc. (ATI) is recalling certain ProCharger Superchargers, model numbers AB037A-100, AB037A-100P, and A037A-100B, sold for installation on 2012-2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 and SRT vehicles. The supercharger mounting bracket may contact and damage the ABS line, possibly resulting in a brake fluid leak.
Risk: A brake fluid leak may lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: ATI will notify owners and will replace the supercharger brackets, free of charge. The recall began on December 12, 2017. Owners may contact ATI customer service at 1-913-338-2886.
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRINGCampaign 18V332000 · 17/05/2018
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
Risk: If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.
- ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE (EGR VALVE)Campaign 20V699000 · 12/11/2020
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with the 3.0L EcoDiesel engines. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler may crack and allow pre-heated vaporized coolant to enter the EGR system. This mixture may combust inside the intake manifold.
Risk: Combustion in the intake manifold can increase the risk of a fire.
Fix: FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will replace the EGR cooler, free of charge. Dealers will also inspect and, as necessary, replace the intake manifold. Parts are not currently available. Owners were mailed an interim notification on December 21, 2021. A second notification will be mailed when parts are available, currently expected to be around March 11, 2021. The recall began March 11, 2021. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US LLC's number for this recall is W79.

THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS A "SAFETY" FEATURE CALLED AUTOMATIC HIGH-BEAMS, A FEATURE THEY CHARGE AN ADDITIONAL FEE FOR. THE FEATURE ITSELF CAN BE TURNED ON/OFF ONLY THROUGH THE UCONNECT SYSTEM OF SETTINGS, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED. THE ACTUAL FEATURE ONCE TURNED ON CAN BE ENABLED AND DISABLED THROUGH THE TURN SIGNAL STALK (PUSHING FORWARD TO ENABLE, BACK TO DISABLE) ONCE THE FEATURE IS TURNED ON VIA UCONNECT, THERE IS NO WAY TO MANUALLY TURN ON YOUR HIGH-BEAMS EXCEPT BY PULLING BACK ON THE TURN SIGNAL STALK TO ENABLE YOUR FLASH-TO-PASS HIGH-BEAMS. THIS ALLOWS THE HIGH-BEAMS TO TURN ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 SECONDS BEFORE THEY AUTOMATICALLY TURN OFF, EVEN IF YOU ARE STILL HOLDING THE STALK BACK TOWARDS YOU. THE REASON THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE UCONNECT SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY DISABLES AUTOMATIC HIGH-BEAMS AT SPEEDS OF 15MPH OR LESS. ONCE THIS FEATURE IS AUTOMATICALLY DISABLED, IT CANNOT BE RE-ENABLED UNTIL YOU HIT A SPEED OF 23MPH, AT THIS POINT THE AUTOMATIC HIGH-BEAMS IS RE-ENABLED BY THE UCONNECT SYSTEM. WHERE THIS BECOMES AN INCREASED SAFETY ISSUE IS ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS WITH SPEED LIMITS OF 20MPH. THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN ON YOUR HIGH BEAMS ON RESIDENTIAL ROADS, UNLESS YOU ARE ABLE TO TURN ONTO THE RESIDENTIAL ROAD WHERE THE LIGHTS WERE PREVIOUSLY AUTOMATICALLY ENABLED (IE DRIVING ABOVE 23MPH) AND YOU KEEP YOUR VEHICLE SPEED ABOVE 15MPH. THE ONLY WAY TO TURN ON YOUR HIGH BEAMS IN THIS SITUATION IS TO DO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: 1- BREAK THE SPEED LIMIT TO REACH 23 MPH THEN DROP BACK DOWN TO THE LEGAL SPEED LIMIT (SO NOT AN OPTION). 2- DRIVE WITH 1 HAND ON THE WHEEL, WHILE HOLDING BACK THE TURN-SIGNAL STALK TO ENABLE FLASH TO PASS HIGH-BEAMS, AND EVERY 6 SECONDS RESETTING THE STALK AFTER THEY TURN OFF. 3- STOP YOUR VEHICLE, ENTER THE UCONNECT SYSTEM ON THE RADIO, CHANGE THE SETTINGS TO TURN OFF THE AUTOMATIC HIGH-BEAM FEATURE. *TR

My 2017 Jeep Cherokee rolled away three times in one day while in Park with the Electric Parking Brake engaged. My driveway has no flat area and slopes toward a public road, creating a serious hazard for my family and traffic. The rollaways occurred suddenly with no warning lights. I had to park the Jeep sideways in a snowbank for two weeks to prevent further rollaways, creating added risks for my family in winter conditions. The vehicle remains at the dealership. During the first two days of the evaluation, the dealer confirmed brake shoe thickness (4mm), verified the EPB software was current, and found no diagnostic codes. They could not recreate the rollaway or identify a cause. No mechanical or electronic faults were found. FCA communication has been inconsistent. I experienced dropped calls, long holds, contradictory statements, and repeated refusals to provide written documentation of the inspection authorization. FCA said they could not escalate the safety case unless the vehicle was already at the dealership, yet still refused written confirmation of the purpose of the inspection, and I was not willing to bring the vehicle in without documentation. After the evaluation, when I attempted to relay the required findings per the RO instructions, FCA informed me the safety case had already been closed, leaving no record of the defect. FCA said only the rental authorization remained open and they could no longer escalate my case. I then had to re-explain the entire rollaway incident. FCA and the dealer now disagree on whether the RO is open or closed, and FCA has not explained who is responsible for the ongoing loaner or what the next steps are. The defect remains unresolved and the Jeep is unsafe to operate or park at my home.

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle went into LIMP mode and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle overheated due to the radiator not functioning properly. The check engine and brake warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart after numerous attempts. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that unknown parts needed to be replaced. There was a burning odor, which was later determined to be caused by mechanics leaving rags in the engine. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND REGULAR STREET, AND GOING UPHILL, MY JEEP'S ENGINE WILL STOP RUNNING, THE "D" ON THE DASHBOARD BLINKS AND THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD SAYS "SHIFT TO PARK". TO GET THE JEEP'S ENGINE TO START UP AGAIN, I HAVE TO PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART IT. BEING THAT THE JEEP DOES NOT RUN WHEN THIS HAPPENS I AM OFTEN STUCK ON THE FREEWAY OR IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND CAN NOT PULL OVER. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE COME CLOSE TO MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. THE JEEP DOES NOT ALWAYS START AGAIN. IT WILL STUTTER AND SHUT OFF MULTIPLE TIMES. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR MONTHS. DEALERSHIP CAN NOT FIND ANY CODES. THEY PUT A DATA RECORDER IN THE VEHICLE, THE JEEP'S ENGINE SHUT DOWN THE SAME DAY I PICKED IT UP. WHEN THIS HAPPENED I PRESSED THE RECORDER BUTTON. IT SHUT DOWN MULTIPLE TIMES IN TRAFFIC WITH THE RECORDER IN AND I PRESSED THE BUTTON TO RECORD AS DIRECTED. WHEN I BROUGHT THE JEEP BACK INTO THE BOB BAKER DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THE DATA RECORDER SAID EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. THE JEEP SHUTTING DOWN WHILE IN MOTION AND NOT TURNING BACK ON, IS NOT NORMAL AND IS DANGEROUS. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY JEEP FOR 2 MONTHS WITH NO SOLUTION IN SIGHT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM THAT I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING TO GET FIXED WITH NO RESOLUTION. I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH FCA AND THEY ARE NOT RETURNING MY CALLS AND HAVE NO SOLUTIONS. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED AND WISH I NEVER BOUGHT THIS JEEP. I HAVE LOST ALL CONFIDENCE IN THIS VEHICLE. I CAPTURED THE PROBLEM HAPPENING ON VIDEO AND NO ONE CAN EXPLAIN WHAT IS HAPPENING NOR FIX IT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE AUGUST 2019. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS THE DAY I PICKED IT UP WITH THE DATA RECORDER IN IT ON NOVEMBER 22, 2019

1. failure appears to involve the vehicle’s electrical control and communication systems, specifically (BCM), (TIPM), and/or CAN bus network. The malfunction caused multiple vehicle systems to activate or fail simultaneously, including windshield wipers, warning indicators, and the transmission shift interlock. The vehicle has been at a repair facility since the incident and remains available for inspection upon request. Nothing has been removed/discarded w/o documentation. 2. The malfunction created a serious safety risk while the vehicle was in operation. All warning lights illuminated at once, the windshield wipers activated without driver input and would not turn off, and the vehicle experienced difficulty shifting and limited drivability. The unpredictable activation and loss of control over critical systems impaired the driver’s ability to safely operate the vehicle and created a risk of becoming stranded or disabled in traffic, posing a danger to both the driver and other road users. 3. Yes. The vehicle was taken immediately to an independent service center following the incident and has remained there due to the severity of the malfunction. The service center confirmed abnormal electrical behavior and initiated further diagnostic evaluation. 4. The vehicle has been inspected by an independent service center. The manufacturer has not yet conducted a direct inspection. No police inspection was performed, as no collision occurred. 5. No warning symptoms were observed prior to the failure. The malfunction occurred suddenly and without warning on August 8. At the time of the incident, all warning lights illuminated simultaneously, and abnormal vehicle behavior began immediately.

Battery vent tube disconnected from the battery causing toxic gas to leak into the passenger compartment. Driver had been experiencing worsening feeling of suffocation for several months prior to discovery of the issue, which was found when replacing the original battery. Vent tube was reconnected and symptoms resolved completely within 72 hours. Approximately 6 weeks later, driver began experiencing the same symptoms, checked the battery vent tube and found that it was once again disconnected. Retaining feature does not appear sufficiently to retain the vent tube throughout vehicle life. Vehicle has less than 40,000 miles.

My car recently started making a grinding noise that got bad really fast. I had it towed to the dealership to get a diagnostic test done. I was told that it was my transfer case that was making the noise. Now this caught me by surprise because I had no warning lamps on my dashboard or no messages alerting me of any problems that would point to it needing servicing done it just happened out the blue. Because of this problem my car has a hard time accelerating and this is no good to me because I live in Atlanta Georgia where there is nothing but Highway and hills. My car makes a constant grinding noise no matter how fast I’m going or how hard I press on the gas. With the acceleration of the vehicle being bad I have almost been in a few incidences where people have almost rear ended me. An inspection by the manufacturer has not been done as of yet. I would just like to know what can be done about this especially because my car STILL has no warning lamps and the grinding is so bad that I can no longer drive it.

I AM A MILITARY SERVICE MEMBER SERVING IN EUROPE. I BROUGHT MY 2017 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH ME TO EUROPE IN 2018. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURE SPECIFICATIONS. EARLIER THIS YEAR (2019) WITH APPROXIMATELY 98K MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND WHILE CRUISING ON A GERMAN HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 85MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR SUDDENLY AND RAPIDLY LOST POWER. I COORDINATED FOR TOWING OF THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST JEEP/CHRYSLER/DODGE REPAIR SHOP. THE VEHICLE HAS NOW BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP FOR ALMOST FOUR MONTHS AND THE LOGISTICAL AND TECHNICAL NETWORK AVAILABLE IN THIS MEDIUM SIZED GERMAN CITY HAS PROVEN UNABLE, AT LEAST UP UNTIL THIS POINT, TO SUCCESSFULLY REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS COMPLETE VALVE TRAIN FAILURE. I'M SHARING THE DETAILS OF THE EVENT AND THE LOCATION FOR THREE PURPOSES. 1. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER COULD PROVE DANGEROUS NO MATTER WHERE IT OCCURS 2. SERVICE MEMBERS SERVING OVERSEAS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT THE FIAT CHRYSLER NETWORK IN EUROPE IS NOT ADEQUATELY PREPARED TO ADDRESS OTHER THAN ROUTINE MAINTENANCE FOR U.S, SPECIFICATION VEHICLES AND YOU COULD EASILY FIND YOURSELF IN A VERY UNCOMFORTABLE SITUATION IF YOU BRING YOUR U.S. SPECIFICATION JEEP WITH YOU OVERSEAS. 3. EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS PAST IT'S WARRANTY BASED ON MILEAGE; COMPLETE VALVE TRAIN FAILURE OF A METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED 2017 JEEP WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES IS MORE LIKELY THAN NOT A MANUFACTURING AND OR ENGINEERING DEFECT VERSUS ANYTHING THAT COULD BE CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.

Let me preface this by saying, I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars trying to get this fixed. Changed Batteries. Changed Fuel Pump. Changed Sensors. Made sure everything is tight/plugged in properly. It's gone to Jeep and other shops but no one has been able to find or fix the issue. Probably about two years ago this started. I was driving to work as normal and stopped at a red light. When I tried to accelerate, the car kind of jerked a little like it didn't want to go and then chugged on. Leaving work the same day, it did the same thing, but instead of just jerking, the car completely stopped. The dash displayed a notification that said: "Shift to Park". All of the electricity was on (lights, air, dash) but the car somehow switched itself directly into neutral even though I was in drive. Brought it to the shop, and they changed some sensors. A few months later, the same thing happened while in heavy morning traffic. I had to hurriedly put on my hazards because my car was NOT able to move. Tried starting it up after the "Shift to Park" notification displayed and it wouldn't start at all. I turned it off completely, waited a few minutes, tried to turn it on again, missed twice, and on the third try it FINALLY came back on. Every day I drive my car now, I make sure to turn off the Auto-Start/Stop button because this was the one time this happened while it was still on. Brought it to the shop - they had another, TOTALLY DIFFERENT DIAGNOSIS. More recently, I hadn't had a problem in a few months - but leaving work in 4 pm traffic the car felt like it was jerking every time I had to slow down (which was every few minutes since it was traffic time). I finally made it to the on-ramp of the GNO to cross the river and while going around the roundabout, it happened YET AGAIN. It's dangerous. I'm surprised this hasn't led to severe accidents, injuries, or even deaths yet. It's absolutely ridiculous. There are thousands of forums online with people having the same issues. HELP!

NO SHIFTING ISSUES FOR THE FIRST 49,000 MILES. NOW, AT 50K MILES, THE VEHICLE SHIFTS HARD IN ALL GEARS, BUT MOSTLY IN 6TH, 7TH, AND 8TH. THE HARD SHIFT SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE A 5 LBS HAMMER SLAMMING INTO THE METAL FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. NOT ALL SHIFTS ARE HARD. MOST HARD SHIFTS ARE WHEN HOLDING THE THROTTLE STEADY AND THE VEHICLE SLOWLY APPROACHES A SHIFT POINT. IN 8TH GEAR YOU CAN HOLD 5% THROTTLE TO MAINTAIN HIGHWAY SPEED, THEN GIVE 10% MORE THROTTLE FOR AN UPHILL AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL STAY IN 8TH GEAR, BUT BRIEFLY SHUTTER FOLLOWED BY AN OBVIOUS BANG OR JERK OF THE VEHICLE. SOME BAD SHIFTS ARE REPETITIVE WITH FOUR OR FIVE HESITATIONS AND POPS OR BANGS OF THE TRANSMISSION. THESE HARD CLUNKS HAPPEN AT 30-45 MPH, OR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 75-80 MPH. SOME FEEL LIKE BUMPS IN THE ROAD, WHILE OTHERS FEEL LIKE VIOLENT BANGS. THE ISSUE DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN GIVING THE VEHICLE 80% OR MORE THROTTLE. ISSUES ARE USUALLY AT 5% TO 35% THROTTLE. IT HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHEN ACCELERATING TOWARDS A NORMAL SHIFT POINT SLOWLY. BEFORE THE NORMAL SHIFT, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP AND BANG. ON A TWENTY-MINUTE DRIVE OF MIXED HIGHWAY AND CITY, IT MAY BANG 5 TO 10 TIMES OR MORE. VIOLENT BANGS ARE ONCE OR TWICE PER WEEK, BUT SOMETIMES TWICE A DAY. THE DRIVING SITUATION IS WHAT INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD OF FEELING A BAD KICK OR BANG. NOT ALL BANGS RESULT IN A SHIFT. SOME BANGS HAPPEN BUT THE VEHICLE STAYS IN THE SAME GEAR AS IF IT JUST SLIPPED AND THEN CAUGHT THE SAME GEAR AGAIN.

The contact stated that while accelerating from a complete stop at a stop sign at approximately 5 MPH, the contact heard an abnormally loud banging sound followed by an abnormal grinding sound coming from underneath the vehicle, near the driver's feet. The vehicle then shifted to neutral and failed to move. The contact was able to turn off the vehicle after disconnecting the ECM. The contact was able to push the vehicle to the side of the road with assistance, and the vehicle was left on the side of the road overnight. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the sheer pins and the power transfer unit (PTU) connection had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train). The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

The UConnect touch screen in my vehicle is “delaminating” causing phantom touches to the touch screen. This is an extreme safety hazard due to it causing distractions to the driver when attempting to use the touch screen/radio/etc for its intended purpose. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by Jeep to my knowledge. The component has not been inspected. There were no warning signs.
- 11/21/2024· EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The HID headlights failed and is available for inspection. Can't drive in the dark or rain, less visible to other motorists. Yes, confirmed by dealer. No other inspections. No notices were given. My friend noticed it and we drove home from an event at night with running lights. Numerous other Jeep Grand Cherokees have the same issue and do have the recall and repair available, but for some reason the Summit was overlooked and should be placed in the recall ASAP. Clearly, this is a Jeepwide problem and not limited by VIN number.

WHEN TAKING OFF AND SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING, THE RPM'S REB WAY UP, ENGINE SLOWS DOWN, EATS GAS LIKE CRAZY. HAVE TO STOP, TURN ENGINE OFF, AND START AGAIN. IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON EXPRESS WAY, VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP AND START AGAIN. REPAIRMAN CANNOT FIND PROBLEM. HAPPENS AT DIFFERENT TIMES AND TO OFTEN FOR ME. NOV 10TH WAS THE LAST TIME.

CAR STOPS AND STALLS DURING, IT CAN HAPPEN AT AN INTERSECTION WHEN DRIVING. CAR ASKS YOU TO PUT INTO PARK WHILE DRIVING-- THE SHIFTER LOCKS AND THEN IT SAYS PUT IN DRIVE AND DOESN'T RESPOND SO YOU SIT THERE FOR A MINUTE THEN YOUR ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF.!! HUGE SAFTEY CONCERN! I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY CAR SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE THIS.
- 11/16/2024· SERVICE BRAKESCrash
On [XXX], I was involved in an accident in Maryland while driving my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was raining and despite attempting to slow down, brakes performed poorly, causing my car to skid and collide with the vehicle in front of me. Fortunately, no one else was injured, but I sustained a neck injury, and my car was ended up a total loss. During the accident, I noticed the ABS warning light had activated. This, combined with prior experiences of delayed brake response, raised concerns about the vehicle’s safety. Having derive. For over 15 years without incidents, this was my first major accident and I suspect it may be linked to a mechanical issue. After learning about recent calls related ABS/brake issues in Jeep vehicles, I felt it was important to report my experience. I urge you to re-evaluate the safety of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s ABS and braking systems to prevent similar incidents in the future. Thanks INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
- 11/16/2018· STEERING
MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING WHAT IS REFERRED TO AS THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' WHEN FLAT TOWED BEHIND MY MOTORHOME AND MAKING A TURN AT LOW SPEED. THIS PROBLEM ALSO OCCURRED IN JEEP CHEROKEE AND JEEP CAME OUT WITH A FIX. THE PROBLEM WAS TRACED BACK TO THE THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WHICH WAS NEW TO THE JEEP CHEROKEE AND ALSO GRAND CHEROKEE IN 2017. THIS PROBLEM CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF PULLING INTO A ROAD AND HAVING TO STOP BECAUSE OF A RISK OF LOOSING CONTROL OF THE JEEP VEHICLE. THE ONLY WAY STOP THE SIDE TO SIDE 'DEATH WOBBLE' IS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. ON COMING TRAFFIC FROM THE REAR WOULD NOT REALIZE YOU HAVE PROBLEM AND REAR ENDING ACCIDENT IS EMINATE.

It and it had a weird knock to the engine. Did get searched five times until it was figured out. It was the lifters and camshaft that failed at 82,000. it was fixed it did stall on the highway once before that. complete fix the water pump issue. for the fuel system the EVAP code keeps showing up every few thousand miles even though it's been checked and serviced. No leaks of any kind even the very small code leak. No leaks were found in any parts of the car

I was driving on highway and the stop safely your car about to turn off popped up then my lights started flashing and the whole car shut down. I couldn't steer or brake so I had to shift into neutral and hope for the best. It scared me to death. My children were in the car. I just replaced the alternator, both batteries and had the vehicle reprogrammed and 2 days later that happened.

TAKATA RECALL UPON DRIVING MT JEEP GC ON THE HIGHWAY THIS MORNING, EVERYTHING WAS GOING FINE, I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AT STOP LIGHT AND AS USUAL, THE STOP/START ENGAGED, WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN A LIFTED MY FOOT OF THE BRAKE SO THE CAR WILL START AGAIN BUT IT DIDNT. SO I TURNED OFF THE RADIO AND AUTO LIGHT AND FORCED THE CAR TO NATURAL AND PRESSED THE START BUTTON AND CAR STARTED. ON GUAGE DISPLAY A RED BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND A MESSAGE THAT SAID " PARK CAR, VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN SOON", SO I DROVE AROUND 15MIN'S TO FIND A SAFE PARKING SPOT AND STOPPED IN SUPERMARKET PARKING LOT.. 2MIN LATER THE CAR SHUT DOWN. I CARRY WITH ME PORTABLE JUMPER SO I OPENED THE HOOD AND CONNECTED IT BUT NO POWER WAS REACHING. SO I LIFTED THE PASSENGER SEAT AND GAINED ACCESS TO THE MAIN BATTERY AND CONNECTED THE JUMPER DIRECTLY TO THE TERMINALS BUT STILL, NO POWER WAS CIRCULATING. SO I CONNECTED IT TO THE AUXILIARY BATTERY AND POWER WAS THERE. AND THE CAR STARTED. PUT NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I PICKED UP MY JEEP FOUR DAYS AGO NEW FROM THE DEALER, SO WHEN THIS HAPPENED MY CAR HAD 250MILES ON IT.

BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2017 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ALTITUDE 4X4. FROM ROUTE 1 JEEP IN LAWRENCEVILLE. IMMEDIATELY EXPERIENCED TICKING FROM THE ENGINE, FAULTY COMPUTER EQUIPMENT, AND FAULTY FUEL PROPOSITION. THE SOUND WAS DUPLICATED AND I WAS TOLD SERVICE WOULD NEED MY CAR INDEFINELTY UNTIL THE DIAGNOSIS WAS INDENTIFIEF AND A REPAIR WAS DETERMINED. ALSO EXPERIENCE PRE-MATURE STOPPING AT FUEL PUMPS. MEANING THE PUMP WILL SHUT OFF AS IF THE TANK IS FILLED WHEN IT'S NOT, HAVING TO MANIPULATE THE GAS PUMP NOZZLE UNTIL IT ALLOWS ME TO FILL. ALSO EXPERIENCE INTERNITANT ISSUES WITH THE SPEEDO AND ITS DISPLAY. SOME TIMES THE DISPLAY DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. KEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT AN OBSTACLE TO GETTING THIS RESOLVED. AND EVERY DEALER WE GO TO IS "OVERWHELMED AND UNDERSTAFFED" BY THEIR OWN ADMISSION. LITERALLY 5 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS IN A 50 MILE RADIUS GAVE US THE SAME FEEDBACK. I'M AM BEYOND FRUSTRATED , HURT , AND DISGUSTED AFTER SPENDING 40K+ ON MY 1ST BRAND NEW SUV. WAS HOPEFUL AND WANTED TO PURCHASE AMERICAN , BUT ARE WE REALLY BUYING AMERICAN WHEN THE PARTS AND CAR ITSELF ARE BEING MANUFACTURED IN MEXICO??

WAS FUELING UP TODAY AND THE PUMP WAS TURNING OFF LIKE I WAS TOPPED OFF BUT MY GAGE WAS ON 'E'. THEN WITH ME HOLDING THE PUMP GAS STARTED SHOOTING OUT ONTO ME AND MY SUV. I HAD GAS ALL OVER THE SIDE OF MY CAR AND AFTER I PAID I HAD A LARGE PUDDLE UNDER MY CAR ALSO. I ONLY FILL UP AT MEIJER AND NORMALLY GET 22 GALLONS IN MY TANK. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET 11 GALLONS IN. MY SUV ONLY HAS 4600 MILES ON IT. SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE

SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON DASHBOARD DISPLAY AND THE ORANGE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE P/D/N DISPLAY WENT OUT. JEEP WAS SERVICED AT JEEP DEALER AND DIAGNOSTICS DIAGNOSED SHIFTER BEZEL REPAIR NEEDED. PART ORDERED AND RETURNED FOR SERVICE AND SUBSEQUENTLY COULD NOT DRIVE OUT OF THE JEEP GARAGE! NOW A NEW SHIFTER UNIT IS NEEDED. THE JEEP LOCKED ITSELF IN PARK. THE TECH BROUGHT THE CAR OUT AFTER SERVICE AND WHEN I STARTED IT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I NOTIFIED THE TECH AND THEN HE COULD NOT GET THE JEEP OUT OF PARK. THEY PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO PUSH IT BACK INTO GARAGE. CHECKED CARGURUS AND MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS FILED ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. MY 2015 JEEP HAD A SHIFTER RECALL. MAYBE STILL AN ISSUE JEEP????

I was at a redlight at a complete stop. I began to turn right onto the bypass and got to 13MPH when my Jeep wouldn't catch the next gear. I rode in the emergency lane to make it to an autoparts store. My battery needed replacing so we tried that. I got back in Jeep and went to the red light and began to turn left and when my jeep got to 13MPH again it wouldnt shift to the next gear and I the car behind me had to slam on their brakes to keep from rear-ending me. I have found online a recall for 2016-2017 Jeep Cherokee where over 67,000 were recalled for transmission issues. It took me an hour and a half speaking to 4 different people at Jeep Customer Care whom all told me "well that doesnt apply to your vehicle." How does it NOT apply when my vehicle is doing the exact thing the recall was called for? I would greatly appreciate if someone would contact me about this issue. I enjoy my Jeep but I dont understand how this shouldn't be under the recall when this IS a life threatening situation.
