- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR/TONE RINGCampaign 19V761000 · 24/10/2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
Risk: Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.
- AIR BAGS:FRONTALCampaign 17V437000 · 10/07/2017
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
Risk: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, 3500 HD, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac Escalade ESV vehicles and 2014-2017 Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500, Trax, Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicle, GMC Sierra 1500, Buick Encore, and 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse, Chevrolet Spark EV and SS vehicles. In the affected vehicles, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test.
The recall began on October 13, 2016. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. - SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:VACUUMCampaign 19V645000 · 06/09/2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.
Risk: As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.
- CHILD SEAT:TETHER: CONNECTOR/CLIPCampaign 17V487000 · 03/08/2017
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks. The owner's manual for the affected vehicles may be missing instructions on how to use the tether anchorage and child restraint anchorage systems. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 225, "Child Restraint Anchorage Systems."
Risk: If the instructions are missing from the owner's manual, the child seat may be installed incorrectly and not be properly secured, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will provide a corrected insert for the owners manual, free of charge. The recall began on September 25, 2017. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 17307.

Started car via remote start. When I went out to the car I noticed smoke in the cab. I then observed the rear power slide window to be smoking and further discovered the rear defroster wires the be smoldering creating considerable smoke. The tempered glass then began to spider and completely cracked. There is a former recall on the rear slide window involving fire hazards and the wiring components. It should also be noted that our 9 month old’s car seat is directly below the window and defroster wiring were the smoldering took place. No warnings lamps were observed prior to the incident.

WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY, I EXPERIENCE A SHAKE/SHUDDER WHEN AT SPEEDS OF 50 MPH AND HIGHER. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER DID SHUDDER. DEALER CHANGED TRANSMISSION FLUID AND I WAS ADVISED TO DRIVE FOR 200 MILES TO SEE IF PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. SHUDDER STILL REMAINS AND NOW THE VIBRATION IS CONSTANT AT 70 MPH. I CALLED DEALER AGAIN WHO SAID THAT IT WAS PROBABLY A TIRE BALANCE ISSUE. I ARGUED WITH THEM AND STATED I HAD NO SUCH ISSUE BEFORE FIRST BRINGING VEHICLE IN. DEALER IS SETTING UP APPOINTMENT FOR ME TO TAKE IN AGAIN. VIBRATIONS HAVE LITERALLY CAUSED MY 6 YR OLD DAUGHTER TO VOMIT ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHEN IN THE VEHICLE. SHE HAS ONLY BEEN IN VEHICLE 5 OR 6 TIMES. VEHICLE FEELS UNSAFE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS ONLINE STATING THIS ISSUE IS ON MANY VEHICLES GM HAS MADE. THERE IS A SHUTTERING IN THE TRANSMISSION AS THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO CLIMB SLIGHT/STEEP GRADES AT SLOW TO MEDIUM SPEEDS. AROUND 1500 RPM THE VIBRATION IS SENT THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE VEHICLE. HAVING TO INCREASE ACCELERATION TO ALLOW THE TRUCK TO SHIFT PROPERLY TO OVERCOME THE LACK OF POWER HAS CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE NAVIGATING UP SNOWY/ICE HILLS. THE VEHICLE ALSO PERFORMS A LURCHING OR SUDDEN SPEEDING UP WHEN DOWNSHIFTING WHEN SLOWING TO COME TO A STOP. DEPENDING ON ROAD CONDITIONS THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN APPROACHING ICY/SLIPPERY INTERSECTIONS.

My 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali started shaking violently and the rpm gage began bouncing 1/4 to 1/2 inch in a very short amount of time. I ran a maintenance facility in Europe with 317 local national and 25 U.S. employees. Two of my brother-in-laws, and one of my nephews are mechanics. Two run their own auto repair facilities. All three reported having to replace torque converters on multiple gmc/chevrolet 1500 trucks. Many at somewhere between 40 and 60 thousand miles. If this is such a systematic problem, and from the number of vehicles they have had to repair it is, why hasn't a recall been issued. Second, in most cases dealerships first charge excessively for replacing the transmission fluid (approximately $900) and then end up replacing the torque converter. The owner has to pay for the transfluid replacement out of pocket because it is considered maintenance instead of replacing the torque converter at company expense...especially if you purchased and extended warranty through a third party. If this is recalled, owners should be reimbursed if they had to pay for it themselves and they should be required to replace the transmission fluid filter as a part of the repair,

I ALREADY HIT A DEER WITH MY BRAND NEW TRUCK BECAUSE I COULDN'T SEE IT WELL ENOUGH IN ADVANCE OF THE COLLISION. GMC SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR PUTTING SUCH A LOW POWER, POOR QUALITY AND UNSAFE HEADLIGHT IN THEIR $70,000 VEHICLES. FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANTLY MY BRAKES ARE MY MAIN ISSUE AND SAFETY PROBLEM. I NEARLY RAN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. MY TRUCKS BRAKES LOSE PRESSURE AFTER THE FIRST INITIAL STOP COMING TO ANY TRAFFIC LIGHTS, STOP SIGN, SLOW TRAFFIC, PARKING LOTS ETC... NO MATTER HOW SLOW OR FAST THE TRUCKS MOVEMENT IS. FIRST BREAK ATTEMPT IS OK BUT 2ND STARTS LOSING PRESSURE AND 3RD ATTEMPT IS COMPLETE LOST OF PRESSURE ANF AND THE TRUCK JUST ROLLS UNTIL IT SLOWLY COMES TO A STOP. I WORRY ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND OTHERS MOTORIST REGARDING THIS ISSUE. MY SECOND COMPLAINT IS MY DRIVER SIDE MIRROR. EVERY TIME I GET INTO MY TRUCK AND START IT. MY DRIVER SIDE MIRROR MOVES OUT OF ITS SETTING AND I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO FIX IT.

I HAD THE ROTORS REPLACED ON MY NEW TRUCK AT 6000 MILES AND PAID FOR REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET. I CONTINUED TO HEAR BRAKE NOISE. ON MY WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THE WEEKEND I WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE BRAKE NOISE INVESTIGATED AND TO HAVE AN OIL CHANGE DONE, I HAD CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE. A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME MADE A LANE CHANGE INTO MY LANE AND THEN SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AT A GREEN LIGHT COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP FROM 40 MPH TO 0 IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. A CAR HAD PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF HIM CHANGING LANES FROM THE LEFT LANE TO RIGHT. I MASHED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP IMMEDIATELY AND MY BRAKES WENT SOFT AND TO THE FLOOR ON THE SECOND PUSH. WHEN I WASN'T STOPPING. I SLAMMED MY EMERGENCY BRAKE WITH MY LEFT FOOT AND INJURED A FEW TOES ON MY LEFT FOOT TRYING TO STOP BEFORE MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. INSTEAD, MY VEHICLE SKIDDED AND LIGHTLY TAPPED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME DOING MINOR BUMPER DAMAGE TO BOTH OF OUR VEHICLES. HOWEVER THERE WAS A TOYOTA TRUCK BEHIND ME, AND STRUCK MY VEHICLE DIRECTLY WHILE I WAS AT A STAND STILL, WHILE THE DRIVER WAS DOING OVER 70 MPH WHEN HE COLLIDED WITH MY SIERRA. MY SIERRA HAS THE PIN OR PART OF THE CALIPER THAT MOVES THE BRAKE PADS, COMPLETELY PUSHED THE PISTON INTO THE ROTOR. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD BRAKE ISSUES SINCE I PAID TO HAVE THE BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED AT 6000 MILES. I HAVE RECORDS OF THE INCIDENT AND THE BRAKE FAILURE FROM A MECHANIC AND AUTO BODY SHOP DOCUMENTING THE COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE BRAKES. DIRECTLY AFTER THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED WITHIN ANOTHER 8000 MILES THE BRAKE BOOSTER ON THE VEHICLE WENT BAD AND WAS REPLACED AS WELL.

This complaint is about General Motors not allowing their Dealer Marty's Chevrolet of Bourne Ma. to recalibrate the odometer and speedometer and other parameters in the computer to match new 18"wheels and tires. The truck was built and set up for 20" wheels from the Factory. The previous owner installed 22" wheels immediately after leasing the vehicle. They never adjusted the computer for this change and as a result the odometer reading read 28700 when I purchased it in August 2023. As a result the engine hours do not correlate to the low miles and the speedometer reading is incorrect. This truck has about 75 to 80 thousand actual miles. When Marty's installed the new wheels that I bought, GM refused to authorize the computer adjustments for the new wheels. GM previously required this adjustment, but no longer does it. This is a safety risk and actual fraud because of the inaccurate miles recorded. I hope you can require them to authorize this adjustment.Attached is an old instruction from GM to dealers for this wheel size change work order.

On Friday, December 6, 2024, my “check engine light” illuminated on my 2017 GMC Sierra pickup. The engine is the gasoline version of the 5.3 liter. I took my truck to Brogden Buick/GMC in Olathe, KS. They informed me the trouble code was 219a, indicating there was a problem with the fuel/air ratio. On Monday, December 9, 2024, I was contacted and informed the fuel injectors needed to be replaced at a cost of approx. $2700. Based upon research I’ve conducted GM’s fuel injectors have been a service concern since approximately 2014. Service bulletin DCS5097 (N182198000-Special Coverage Engine Fuel Injector) was issued on July 26, 2019 that included my engine configuration. However, this particular bulletin does not appear to cover my Kansas based vehicle. I just had my vehicle at Brogden for a previous check engine light two weeks ago. This required replacing the fuel cell pressure sensor at just over $700. These repairs seem to be related. I’m reading that 2023 and 2024 Chevrolet and GMC trucks are also having fuel injector issues. This seems to be an ongoing problem that GM does not appear to be appropriately addressing. My truck is relatively low mileage with only 58,786 miles. It has never towed, is garage kept and is maintained in a pristine condition. I’ve never experienced fuel injector issues any any previously owned vehicle .

I purchased my vehicle in January 2022. On 11/18/22 I captured a photo across my dash stating that the trailer brake system needed to be serviced (photo attached) . This was the second time this message appeared within days. The vehicle continued to beep and flash for a long period of time clearing out my dash screen making it UNSAFE TO DRIVE. The beeping noise startled me, almost causing an accident on the freeway. I did not know what the warning meant as I wasn't towing a trailer. I wasn't towing anything and could not turn off the beeping sound or the flashing screen, in spite of hitting the dismiss button. I don't know why the message continued to go on and assuming there is an electrical shortage somewhere with the wiring. This needs to be recalled and fixed as it is a manufacturer issue. I do not have any aftermarket parts installed in this vehicle. This same alert message appeared again yesterday 12/5/22 as I was driving back from the airport. It continued for almost 2 hours while on the freeway and again I was not pulling or towing anything. I pulled over, checked my tailgate, turned off the vehicle and turned it back on and the message continued until I got home. It is very alarming and annoying and scared me. This is a big safety hazard and almost caused an accident again as the alert is very loud and flashes across, clearing out your screen, causing you to take your eyes off traffic looking ahead. This time, I was traveling in heavy traffic. Please investigate this further. Thank you

While in a parking lot, I tried to slowly move forward and then come to a pause. My brakes didn't work quite right and the vehicle didn't stop for an additional 15-20 feet from where I would have liked to stop. Luckily I was just moving forward to get out of the way of another vehicle trying to drive behind me and I didn't have anything directly in front of me that I needed to stop before. If I was trying to stop for a pedestrian I would have certainly hit them. If I was trying to stop behind a vehicle who suddenly stopped I would have ran into the back of their vehicle. There has been a recall on similar vehicles; same make, model and year as mine for what appears to be the same issue. I remote started my truck and entered the vehicle with my girlfriend approximately 3mins after remote starting. We immediately smelled smoke that smelled like an electrical fire. I heard sizzling/static-like/electrical short sounds coming from back seat and when I looked back, I saw thick white smoke pouring out of the the small black plastic trim piece on the rear power sliding window that covers the electrical connections between the sliding pane of the power sliding window and the solid, non-moving pane of glass on the passenger side of the rear window assembly. I immediately shut the truck off and climbed into the back seat with a flashlight to investigate. While looking at the rear window, the passenger side non-moving pane of glass in the rear window EXPLODED very loudly, which actually hurt my ears. The glass stayed intact but spider webbed the entire pane. I immediately pulled the fuse for the rear defroster and cleared the tremendous about of smoke that had filled my cab. The window continued to make sizzling and static like noises for the 20min ride home. Upon investigating this issue online, I discovered that GM has issued a recall on this defect for all of Canada and only certain US states that are above a certain longitude, which doesn’t include my state of PA. I am terrified to use my remote starter on the vehicle now or even preheat the truck manually for fear of burning mu truck down. I contacted a GM dealership who told me my truck didn’t have any active recalls on it and to file an insurance claim. I have since filed a complaint to GM customer service who is investigating my claim to determine if they will cover the repair. They said up to 30days to make determination! This is a huge safety hazard that is known and acknowledged to be in every Silverado and Sierra with a power sliding rear window within the model years 2014-1017

WHEN REVERSE IS ACTIVATED AT NIGHT, THE BACKUP CAMERA COMES ON AT FULL BRIGHTNESS AND IS NOT DIMMABLE. THE BRIGHT SCREEN PREVENTS VIEW OF THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR AND SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCES VISIBILITY IN THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR WHILE REVERSING. THE SCREEN CANNOT BE DEACTIVATED AND BLINDS THE DRIVER. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE.

GMC SIERRA WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR EXISTING RECALL REGARDING BRAKING. DEALER INDICATED RECALL HAD BEEN RESOLVED. WHILE BACKING THE TRUCK ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SINCE RECALL ADDRESSED, BRAKES BECOME MUCH LESS RESPONSIVE WITH CLICKING SOUND. BRAKES BECOME HARD TO PRESS AND DO NOT STOP VEHICLE COMPLETE. THIS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE TOWING A BOAT DOWN RAMP. THE VEHICLE HAS 28,000 MILES AND THE ISSUE DID NOT OCCUR PRIOR TO ABOUT A MONTH AGO. THE MOST RECENT TIME WAS TONIGHT WHILE BACKING ON LEVEL GROUND INTO GARAGE. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT AS A RESULT OF THIS, BUT THE RECALL WAS NOT ADEQUATELY PERFORMED OR DID NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE.

VACUUM PUMP ISSUE WITH GMC SIERRA - I NOTICED A PROBLEM BRAKING MY PICKUP, SPONGY BRAKES, HARD STOPPING. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER (PORTSMOUTH CHEVROLET, PORTSMOUTH, NH). THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A PROBLEM WITH THE VACUUM PUMP AND REPLACED THE PUMP UNDER WARRANTY. I WANTED TO ALERT YOU BECAUSE I SAW A NOTICE ON FOX NEWS THIS EVENING ABOUT YOUR INVESTIGATION OF THE PROBLEM WITH EARLIER MODELS AND WANTED TO ALERT YOU THAT MINE IS A 2017. YOU MAY WANT TO EXPAND THE INVESTIGATION TO INCLUDE LATER MODEL TRUCKS AND SUVS. LUCKILY I CAUGHT IT IN TIME, NO ACCIDENTS, NO INJURIES.

The trucks power source starts failing when going at about 15 mph and turning a bit, it happens when coming to a stop or when you’re about to park. The steering wheel starts getting super stiff and all the power buttons and lights start going dim and the truck shuts off. The truck can turn on right after but at times it takes about 15 minutes for the system to reboot and then the truck will finally turn. When this happens you can’t turn on hazard light making it a dangerous situation at night! I’ve talked to other gmc owner with the Denali models and they have stated as well that they’ve had the same issue occur at least once to them, this truck currently does it very often and even more in the cold weather! There has been a recall on earlier an earlier year of the same model truck but just not this one making it tedious to try to get it fixed. I’ve took it to the mechanic and they’ve changed the ground wires, it made the problem just happen less frequently, but it still occurs.

My complaint number 11461471 , I made this complaint on 04/20/2022 about my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500.my truck is have the same problems that the GMC trucks recalled. As I stated when I filed my complaint with NHTSA and GMC. I carried my truck back to the dealership 7 times and complained about the problem. Once my warranty expired no one want to talk about the problem with the transmission. I started having problems in September 2017 my truck had 6,949 miles. I have paperwork every time I carried it to gmc dealership. NHTSA need to look at the problem with the 2017 Sierra too.
