Electronic throttle body will go into a limp mode and has no power to accelerate. This happens while driving down the street or highway and you might have enough power to pull to side of the road or street and not get run over. I have seen other reports of this and Ford extended their warranty on some vehicles to 10 years or 150,000 miles. These are mainly the eco boost motors. My vehicle has 88,000 miles and is regularly serviced. One occurrence was on a road under construction with no place to pull over quickly when this happened.

My Expedition was set to 45 mph via cruise control in a work zone, at night, on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. While in the first tunnel in the northbound lane with 2 way traffic, I heard a slight pop, then rough running feeling and completely lost acceleration. The power train wrench warning light came on. Since I was on an incline in the tunnel with no way to pull over and the vehicle was going forward at a snail's pace, I decided to continue as far as I could since it was the safest thing to do for all drivers in the tunnel. The Expedition finally crept out of the tunnel and I was able to pull off to the side to let traffic pass. As soon as we had cell phone service, I had my daughter call the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to let them know that we were disabled and in need of assistance. I decided to see what would happen if I turned the vehicle off and restarted. Everything reset and I had power, but for how long? The CBBT police agreed that the safest course of action for all vehicles on the road was to tow my vehicle to the other side as it is dangerous to breakdown on the CBBT, especially in one of the tunnels. I was able to drive home after the tow. However, the following day, I tried to drive it again and it did the same: ran rough, wrench sign, no pop that time, total loss of acceleration. Restarted and made it back home. My husband tested it a few days later after re-cleaning battery cable terminals that had been corroded before we replaced the factory battery, and it did the same thing with him on the highway! If we had been trying to get into traffic, turn where we had to cross traffic or any number of other situations and the Expedition lost power like that, the outcome could be deadly. The CBBT would have records since they towed me and wrote the VIN down.

The blend door actuator has failed on multiple occasions. There was a recall last August and we had the equipment repaired at the Ford dealership in Ayden. Just after one year it is not failed again. I called and the warranty for the equipment was 12 months. I am disappointed that we are now stuck with paying to repair what is a known equipment issue. My concern is there could be a fire or electrical concern throughout the truck. There are no warning lights, only a constant clicking sound in the rear of the truck where the blend door actuator is housed.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the blower motor had failed. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V648000 (Visibility, Electrical System). The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer and the blower motor was replaced; however, the blower motor failed several days after the repair. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as a frayed connector or pigtail that was the original connector to the blower motor that had been replaced by the dealer during the recall repair. The contact called the dealer and was informed that the manufacturer had a specific note in the recall information that only the blower motor was to be replaced and that the pig tail connector would not be covered under the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 126,986.

The contact was shown how to tap the connector wires which were hanging under the dashboard on the passenger side to start the blower functioning. The contact stated that she would have to perform the action anytime the A/C or the heater needed to be activated. The vehicle had been inadequately repaired. July 30, 2023, I was in car wreck with my Ford Expedition, 2017. The other car ran red light and hit my Ford in left front ahead of front wheel. Other car traveling approx 35 mph, by police report. Side airbag fizzled with smoke an did not deploy. Neither front airbag deployed. No airbags deployed. Ford was considered a total loss by both insurance companies involved. This vehicle has 5 star safety rating and that was considered in my purchase. I purchased Ford in Oct 2016, new. It was always serviced by Ford dealer here. This vehicle does not deserve 5 star rating.

While driving, the speedometer began to bounce around. This caused erratic shifting. At one point the speedometer went to zero while we were still moving. I pulled over put it in park and it would not go into gear. During this the air bag light came on. After turning the vehicle off and back on again, everything went back to normal. Over a period of days, it would do the same thing again, but not as bad as the time listed above. The speedometer will bounce around while driving and cause moderate shifting issues. I took the vehicle into a shop, and they ran the code as being Output Speed Sensor. After research, it appears Ford had a recall on output speed sensors for 2014 F-150 vehicles (Recall Reference Number 24S37) which use the 6R80 transmission. I contacted my local Ford dealership and Ford corporate via chat, and both told me my 2017 Expedition was not covered under that recall. Since my vehicle uses the same transmission, I inquired as to what they did to fix the output speed sensor issue. They could not provide me with that information. I have several videos of the speedometer bouncing around, but am unable to upload them here.

Vehicle has 124,058 miles. On this date - Oct 14, 2021, brake pedal got soft, audio and visual warning saying low brake fluid level. Luckily was just slowly pulling into driveway after driving at 55-60 on US 341. Checked brake fluid level. It was indeed very low. Added DOT4 fluid. Drove vehicle slowly in back area and depressed brake pedal several times. Pedal still not quite right. Thought maybe had air in lines. But soon audio/visual warning came on. Checked brake fluid level. Low again. Looked underneath for any obvious leaks - none. Check fire wall - nothing. So assumed fluid was going in to booster. Looked on internet and found other complaints just like this. This is EXTREMELY dangerous. Has anyone been killed yet? The brake parts need to be built like aircraft parts.

We were on vacation and on our way back to the hotel from hiking on our last night in North Carolina. The check engine light came on and the car started sputtering and the accelerator would not work. We were slowing down and the car just would not go. We put it in park and turned the car off and sat there for 10 minutes. We turned the car back on and and then the wrench light came on. We had to keep turning the car on and off for the last 5 miles of the drive home which took us over an hour with letting the car cool off and turning it back on. When we did manage to go, we could only drive 25 mph. This was on a holiday weekend. We had to pay another $150 to stay where we were to get the car towed to the dealership. We then had to wait for the dealership to open to take the car and fix the problem which then cost me $800. Now prior to even going on vacation, I had the car completely checked over and service done. Nevermind, that the warranty had just expired on it. But who thought that with actually taking care of your car, it would break down and as soon as weeks after the warranty is up. I looked online and saw that this issue has been an ongoing issue for thousands of other Ford Expeditions. I would like my money back and this to be recalled. I've attached all the paperwork. It is due to an inoperable throttle sensor where the throttle then fails to work. Please recall this issue and have them return my money.

While driving today my vehicle lost power and went into limp mode. the warning wrench came on. This is very dangerous, especially on the freeway. Throttle body failed and vehicle unexpectedly lost power while driving home from the airport at night. I did not initially realize it went into limp mode. The wrench light illuminated on the dash and I had to stop in the travel lane of a busy 45 mph street. I could not pull to the shoulder due to traffic. Other motorists were visibly angry and honking at me. After a little time I tried putting the vehicle in park, shutting it off and tried starting it again. It started with no issue and then died again a few blocks later, fortunately that time it was in a better location with no traffic. I took the vehicle to a Ford dealer the following morning, where I already had an appointment for preventative maintenance including new coolant and spark plugs. I suspected the throttle body failed after researching the issue and found a history of similar problems with other Ford products. The dealership also diagnosed a throttle body failure and charged me for a repair, which involved replacing the throttle body assembly. It is my understanding that Ford has extended warranty coverage on other models and that there may have been a recall campaign involving other models. My 2017 Ford Expedition XLT appears to have had the same issue. This problem could have been EXTREMELY dangerous if it happened on the highway or if a less experienced driver was operating the vehicle. The failure was sudden and unexpected.

SINCE THE THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON 3.5L ENGINES I BELIEVE THIS IS A MATTER OF DEALER NOT BEING ABLE TO GET PAID FROM FORD RATHER THAN NOT BEING ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. 60K EMISSION WARRANTY APPLIES VEHICLE MILEAGE 53K. BELOW PLEASE FIND MY ACCOUNT OF A VERY FRIGHTENING EVENT THAT TOOK PLACE WHEN MY 2017 FORD EXPEDITION MALFUNCTIONED. IN LATE AUGUST, 2018 WE WERE ON VACATION IN SEATTLE, WA., VISITING MY SON AND HIS FAMILY. FIVE OF US WERE IN MY EXPEDITION AND MY SON WAS DRIVING. WE PULLED UP TO PARK BY HIS HOUSE ON A STEEP ROAD. HE PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE, REMOVED THE KEYS, AND PROCEEDED TO GET OUT. THERE WERE THREE ADULTS AND TWO CHILDREN (AGES 7 AND 4). ALL THREE ADULTS GOT OUT AND WERE HELPING THE CHILDREN OUT WHEN THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD ON ITS OWN. I WAS OUT OF THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I TRIED TO HOLD THE DOOR HANDLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING BUT IT TOOK OFF. MY SON WHO WAS OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE ALSO REALIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING, JUMPED BACK IN, AND APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR. IT ROLLED ABOUT 12 FEET DOWNHILL BEFORE HE COULD STOP IT. THE TWO CHILDREN WERE STILL IN IT. THE STREET WAS ON A VERY STEEP INCLINE THAT I WOULD GUESS TO BE ABOUT 25 DEGREES. IF MY SON HAD NOT STOPPED THE CAR IT COULD HAVE ROLLED ABOUT 100 YARDS THROUGH TWO INTERSECTIONS AND INTO A HOUSE WITH THE TWO CHILDREN IN IT. I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO THEM. WE TOOK THE EXPEDITION TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN SEATTLE (FORD OF KIRKLAND) TO GET IT CHECKED OUT. THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. AFTER RETURNING HOME FROM VACATION, WE TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP (BOLTON FORD, LAKE CHARLES, LA. WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW) AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. WHAT DO I DO NOW? CAN FORD EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED AND REASSURE ME THAT IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN?

VEHICLE WILL COUNTER STEER CAUSING LANE CHANGES, INCREASED STEERING EFFORT, RANDOM CHANGES IN DIRECTION OF TRAVEL. DRIFTS TO BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT WITH NO WARNING OR NOTICE. THIS APPEARS MORE NOTICEABLE AT LOWER TO MID SPEEDS 25-60. ITS AS IF IT'S COMPENSATING FOR A DRIFT OR IRREGULAR ROAD SURFACE BUT IT OCCURS ON FLAT LEVEL SURFACES. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT SEEM TO REMEDY AFTER THREE VISITS.

WHILE DRIVING THE 2017 EXPEDITION EL ON A LOCAL STREET, THE ENGINE SUFFERED AN EXTREME REDUCTION IN POWER AND LIMITED SPEED TO ONLY 5 MPH. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER, IT WAS DETERMINED THE IT WAS A FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BODY.
- 10/06/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
We went to local dealer to get remedy on blower motor recall. They found the pig tail on resister that supplies power tot he blower motor was melted. Ford has stated that its not a part of the blower motor recall and wants us to pay for repairs. Seems like the electrical fire would start from the power source giving the motor power.... ecspecially since ours got so hot apparently it melted this wires together .This issue should be part of that recall.

- 09/29/2017· EXTERIOR LIGHTING
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ONLY REACH OUT ABOUT TWO VEHICLE LENGTHS. I'VE HAD IT BACK TO FORD ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS BUT THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I'VE REPLACED THE BULBS WITH ONES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO REACH OUT AN ADDITIONAL 120 FEET BUT THEY ARE JUST AS BAD.

My brake fluid is low warning light came on and I checked it and my brake fluid was completely empty there was no apparent leaking from anywhere within eye sight. I refilled it and a week later the same thing happened. Then I get a letter in the mail saying there is a recall about leaking break fluid and no dealer ship in my area has any availability within a reasonable amount of time. I have two kids and work full time I cannot go without a vehicle and I do not feel save driving it my breaks stopped working due to the leaking fluid which is FORDS fault.

We were on family trip and we were going up A hill and out of no where our expedition starting losing power and started to make A rattle noise and luckily we were able to pull off exit where the check engine light came on and almost turned off before we parked … just left me and my husband and my two kids stuck on the side of the road for three hours there was no warning no leaks no indications there was any problems with the vehicle we paid $275 to get it towed to the only place that was taking a vehicle on a Saturday they quoted us $16,000 that our motor was gone… So we called Ford … Pay $1200 to get it transported to the dealership where we paid $10,500 to have a whole new motor built they said it was a fluke accident they don’t have a real reason for it to happen our warranty just expired last year we had just had the oil change there before we left so there was no lack of maintenance done to the vehicle then I had to spend $550 to get a rental car to get family home … I have seen where they have recalls on the eco-boost motor for every other vehicle except for expedition my expedition is the eco-boost and Believe the issue stems from the eco-boost motor my vehicle was just barely out of powertrain warranty at 69,000 miles…. Also I have received two recalls now for the brake system which I have replaced rotors twice already which may been a part of the recall they’re just now sending us and the other recall is for the climate control front blower motor may overheat which I’m not sure if that could cause issues with our engine as well I would just like to have some help with my vehicle
