On 10/14, I was driving the car to my job, when the car suddenly switched from its electric battery power to its internal combustion engine. The vehicle's information screen only showed that the battery was unavailable. I was able to operate the car on only the internal combustion engine to arrive at work. However, when I went to leave several hours later, the car would not start. The car was towed to a dealership and apparently repaired after about a week. However, the repair, a software reset, did not fixt the underlying issues, and on 10/27, after having the car for five days, the car again failed on my way to work, displaying a "Shift to Park" message and not starting. I towed the car to the same dealership, and they had it until 11/04. I recovered my car and drove it again to work that same day, but the car failed again due to the dealership not correctly diagnosing the issue, which appears to be the BECM, a failure related to bulletin N232432680. Due to this issue, I was left stranded on a busy highway for several hours on multiple occasions, and have not have a working vehicle since 10/14, meaning I have had to call off of work on multiple days, losing non-trivial amounts of income and undue economic hardship, due to this issue. Neither the dealership nor General Motors have offered any kind of help or support, and have generally attempted to avoid responding to my repeated phonecalls. Prior to this issue, there were no warnings or symptoms that I observed.

My 2017 Chevrolet Volt has had issues with failing to start for years. Many times when the car did start I would receive an error message saying “propulsion power reduced,” resulting in the vehicle being less responsive to the accelerator. I have taken it to get serviced many times only for the issue to persist. Now the car has completely broken down and will no longer turn on at all. The car is currently at a Chevrolet Dealership where a service technician has diagnosed the problem as being related to a faulty BECM (battery energy control module) and that I need to spend thousands of dollars to replace this part. A simple google search showed me that this problem is incredibly common with other Volt drivers, so much so that there is even a class action lawsuit against GM now for this issue (which I received no notice of). I feel like I was sold a faulty car and I now have to pay a price for GM’s negligence.

  • 12/28/2023· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Failure of the BECM and “Shift to park” message. The vehicle will spontaneously produce a shift to park message when starting up the vehicle and turning it off. The vehicle will also show a 0 mile EV range and use the engine where a message saying “propulsion power reduced”. This will also cause the car to shut off randomly. The vehicle has not been inspected by a shop or the dealership. There is no warning or message when this happen. Check engine will appear once the vehicle has these issues.

  • 12/28/2023· POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Loss of Motive Power due to EGR Valve. I was driving down the highway when I experienced a loss of motive power and the Volt entered a reduced power state while in moving traffic. After the EV battery ran out and the ICE turned on, the following message showed up on the instrument panel "Propulsion Power Is Reduced" and the check engine light turned on. The Volt slowed down and would not accelerate to the speed of the moving traffic. I was able to get off the highway and drive home under reduced power which was still not safe. The engine ran very rough on the way home and was not able to maintain speed high enough for the flow of traffic on the roads. The dealer diagnosed the issues as a failed EGR Valve. The part was on backorder for about a month. In that time, a GM trained technician deemed the car operable (according to GM standards) and said that I could take it back and drive it on electricity only. Unfortunately, that meant that the EV range is about 40 miles in winter after a full charge and running out of electricity would again result in a hazardous loss of power. The behavior of the car under this reduced propulsion is Identical to the one in investigation PE23022 - Loss of Motive Power due to the Battery Energy Control Module. The Chevy Volt EGR Valve issue is a common problem reported in other NHTSA complaints and Volt forum posts and I am surprised that there has not been a recall. I hope that this issue is investigated same as the BECM issue. On [XXX] my 2017 Chevy Volt was having propulsion issues, and later would not start at all. This was not the first instance of propulsion issues, fortunately I was able to pull the vehicle into parking lots. The vehicle was towed to Midway Chevrolet, 2323 W Bell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85023. On Friday [XXX] the dealership called me to let me know the vehicle was ready for pickup. After my arrival at Midway the car was driven one last time and must have experienced trouble, so it was checked out. Midway then informed me that one of the 32 Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) was not producing enough voltage to propel the vehicle and not drivable. Midway ordered the replacement BECM and when I inquired several days later I was told the BECM was on backorder and they hoped to have the BECM in September 2024. In September I was told that part might be available in December 2024. I have checked with the GMPARTSCENTER and other component distributers and told the part was on national back order. Although I was fortunate the vehicle didn't die completely while I was driving it, it was certainly a concern. The vehicle has now been at Midway for 6 months and the lack of availability of the replacement BECM is a concern. What if another section of the battery has a voltage issue once I get the vehicle back? I will be placed in an unsafe situation and facing months of having the vehicle at the dealership waiting on parts. • 12/27/2023· POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

The latest episode with my 2017 Chevy Volt is a culmination of years of issues with the low clearance on the vehicle causing continual damage and unsafe driving conditions that require expensive repairs due to the design flaw (note - I had a 2014 Chevy Volt that had NONE of these problems). My son was driving the car a week ago and the Engine Control Module (GM part # 12700116) fell OUT of the car. This led to the car to stop driving instantly - if he had been anywhere other than a quiet residential street it could have been catastrophic. Upon having towed the vehicle to the dealership, I was informed that the wiring harness failed which led to the ECM falling onto the street. I drive this car strictly in city limits and on major highways, and despite this the bottom undercarriage is constantly damaged because it is simply to low to the ground. In addition to the repair bill of $3K+ (my 4th repair required due to this defect), the harness isn't even available and GM cannot provide an ETA for when it will be. I experienced a similar issue 6 months ago when a part was backordered for 3+ months and this is compounded by the fact that their dealerships no longer have loan car inventory. Note that there was no warning before this happened. I have tried escalating to GM but their response is essentially that I am SOL. Again - this is a design flaw of the vehicle that should have been addressed but never was. Note that this doesn't include the other continual issues (well documented) that continue to plague the car after other recall service (loss of propulsion, shifter issues that frequently make it impossible to actually turn the car off, etc.)

so we inspected your vehicle and it needs a battery module, that part is on back order and we have no ETA when it will come in. That is what the dealership sent me. There are people on Chevy Volt forums saying it's the EGR valve and they've been waiting months with non-working cars. Is anyone doing their job around here?

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET VOLT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GAS ENGINE TURNED ON WHILE THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF BATTERY RANGE LEFT. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT HAD TO COAST THE VEHICLE DOWNHILL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE GEAR INTO DRIVE; HOWEVER, THE GEAR SHIFTER DID NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE. INSTEAD, THE GEAR SHIFTER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE FORWARD OR IN REVERSE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ALLEN GWYNN CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 1400 S BRAND BLVD, GLENDALE, CA 91205, 818-528-8597) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE REPAIR WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND OPENED A CASE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,066.

Vehicle periodically throws P0964 and P0AC4 related to TSB PIC6330. Recently, this has led to poor running of internal combustion engine and low/undrivable power, almost leaving me stranded. Took multiple restarts before I could drive the vehicle. The TSB indicates to replace part# 24285319 (internal transmission solenoid control harness) however GM indicates they have discontinued manufacture of this part. How am I supposed to get my 6 year old car fixed if GM doesn't supply the part?

This is a safety issue for Chevy Volt. After seven years of good operation, our 2017 Chevrolet Volt stopped running in traffic while we were driving on [XXX]. The Check Engine Light was on, and "Reduced Propulsion" Message on dashboard panel. We brought it to the dealer from whom we purchased the vehicle. Tech Report paraphrased, Customer states CK Engine Light is on and "Reduced Propulsion" Message on dash Fault Codes: P0030, P0031, P0054, P0135, P0403, P0405, P0443, P0458, P0489, P0597, P0598, P06DA, P06DB Found fuse [F03] blown for EGR valve Likely EGR Valve sticking and causing fuse to blow. The technician stated the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve is defective, and needs to be replaced. Replacements are scarce, on backorder, and can be many weeks or months to wait for a part. Many report their Volt unusable, sitting idle, waiting for EGR replacement. EGR valve replacement cost is quoted as $2800, which is quite expensive for a valve replacement. This has been happening in recent time to many Volt owners. There are many reports in online forums and no the GM forum website. [XXX] There has been no diligence, interest, nor cooperation from GM. The cost of replacing the defective valve is usurious, outrageous, indefensible. This is a problem well known by GM, who neglects their obligation to contact owners of a safety hazard inherent in their vehicles. The Volt's EGR valve can cause the car to shut down by blowing the "walk home" [F03] fuse, which was our experience. This is a safety issue. My 2017 Chevy Volt is having Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) issues. I receive the occasional error message of "propulsion is reduced" and engine fault codes of P1E00, U2619, U2620, U2621, U2622, U2623, and U2624. GM issued a Special Coverage bulletin (N232432680) extending the warranty for the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) on 2016-2018 Chevy Volts to 15 years/150,000 miles. My Chevy Volt is within this year and mileage range, but for some reason my Chevy Volt VIN is not included in this Special Coverage (N232432680), which means that this special coverage for some reason doesn't apply to my 2017 Chevy Volt, even though it has the same issue. Is there a way that my 2017 Chevy Volt VIN can be added to this Special Coverage bulletin (N232432680) so that I can get warranty repairs? Thank you.

All of a sudden while braking on a freeway offramp, the check engine light came on and a reduced propulsion warning came on my screen. The car ran weird for about a day, then it wouldn't start. I had it towed to a dealer, they diagnosed the BECM went bad, now my car has been there 2.5 weeks and there's no estimated ship date for the part, much less repair date. If they said they had enough parts for BECM failures, they're either lying to you or they're lying to me.

I had to get the car towed to the dealership for the repair. The dealership repaired the issue for free since I was still under warranty.

On Sunday night, I was driving around 65 mph on the 405 freeway to take my friend to the airport. I noticed that the car started to give a weird feedback sensation on the pedals and had started to jerk us forward. As I merged onto the two-lane on ramp to the 10 freeway, the car started to rapidly lose power and then completely died and went dark. I was unable to use the hazard lights as the car had just gone dark but then it turned back on but would not let me shift it into drive. As I was on a two-lane on-ramp with no shoulder in the dark, we just had to pray that no one would hit us. In doing research, I suspect that this was yet another BECM failure that has been repeatedly happening with this year of Chevrolet Volts. There was most recently a class-action lawsuit filed for this very issue. The car is currently at the dealership awaiting inspection but I am terrified to drive that car again if it even becomes drivable. Especially since there were no warning lights or signs on the vehicle to indicate that this could be an issue and to have it die on the freeway in the way that it did, putting my life and many other lives at risk, I am shocked that there hasn't been a recall for this issue.

I PURCHASED A NEW 2017 CHEVROLET VOLT EQUIPMENT WITH AUTOMATIC PARKING ASSIST. ON NOVEMBER 1, 2017, I WAS DRIVING ON BATH STREET IN SANTA BARBARA. I DECIDED TO PARK ON BATH AT PUEBLO STREET. THE FIRST TIME, I ENGAGED THE APA FEATURE TO ASSIST WITH PARALLEL PARKING, I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE DASHBOARD. AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTION TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO REVERSE. THE MOMENT I COMPLETED THE SHIFT AND I LIFTED BY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UNEXPECTEDLY IN REVERSE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED TO THE RIGHT, AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE OUT OF CONTROL UNTIL IT HAD JUMPED THE CURB AND SIDESWIPED A TELEPHONE POLE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A CHEVY DEALER AND FILED A CLAIM FOR PRODUCT DEFECT WITH GENERAL MOTORS. GENERAL MOTORS HAS SUBSEQUENTLY DECLINED THE CLAIM.

The check engine light came on followed by a loss in propulsion power of the engine. During freeway driving, a sudden loss of power posed a significant risk to both driver and other drivers on the road as the resulting sudden loss of acceleration forced other drivers to swerve around the vehicle to avoid hitting the car. The problem was reproduced when the engine came back on after 2 attempted repairs. I am very scared and concerned with my life/safety.

Due to the failure, the vehicle stalled, and the contact coasted the vehicle to the shoulder of the highway. Due to the failure, the vehicle was initially towed to the residence then to the dealer. The vehicle was kept in dealer possession where repairs were made to the ECM (Electrical Control Module). Since the repair, the contact stated that the vehicle intermittently failed to start up while depressing the START/STOP button. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

Consistent BCEM failure with volt. Power Reduced even if battery has full charge and gas is in tank. Forward Collision made unavailable without reason whilst driving. I rely on the forward collision system while driving at night in my area because of drivers cutting each other off constantly, so losing this feature without knowing why it failed feels unsafe to me. Forward collision would also activate when no vehicle is infront of me causing the car to suddenly stop and jerk on the road. Propulsion power is reduced is an extremely common occurrence in my volt. It happens randomly while driving and even while charging. When I'm on the highway the car would slow down when the warning came on; even with cars right behind me. I'm scared one day the car's system will cause an accident because of it's unpredictability. Regular maintenance has been performed and no issues have been found. The problem continues to persist.

On 3/11/2023, I was heading home when my vehicle lost power in the middle of the freeway. Luckily, I was able to safely pull over to the side of the freeway. Since this is a plug-in hybrid, there are two gauges showing how much electric and gas is in the car. When I checked, both showed were empty; however, although I knew that I did not have much electricity in the battery, I had nearly a full tank of gas. The vehicle should have had automatically switched over to the gas but did not. After a few minutes of leaving the car off, I was able to restart the vehicle in gas mode and drive home safely. I brought in the vehicle to my local Chevy dealership to have it diagnosed. It was determine that the computer had registerd multiple faults p0030, 31, 54, 135, 403, 405, 443, 458 and 537. They also found TSB 21-NA-116. They had found that the 15 AMP fuse was blown. They had to replace the EGR valve assembly. Total time was 2 weeks to repair as they had to wait for the parts from Chevy. Per WO, parts 12346290 (Coolant) and 12691147 (Valve) were replaced. After replacement, vehicle have been running fine for the past 9 months. Prior to the engine shutting off, there was a message on the screen while driving which says "Propulsion Power is Reduced". The electric gauge was empty but the gas tank show nearly a full tank.

PRIOR TO STARTING MY 1,100 MI TRIP WITH MY 2017 VOLT PREMIER, I INFLATED THE TIRES, CHECKED FLUIDS, & CHARGED THE CAR. THE MONTHLY DIAGNOSTIC REPORT I RECEIVED THE DAY BEFORE MY DEPARTURE INDICATED NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR, WHICH HAD APPROX 40,500 MI. I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATES & HIGHWAYS USING HOLD (GAS) MODE, OCCASIONALLY MOUNTAIN MODE. APPROXIMATELY 275 MI. INTO THE TRIP I RECEIVED POWER PROPULSION REDUCED ALERT. AFTER AN ADDITIONAL 50-75 MI I RECEIVED AN ACTION REQUIRED: ENGINE OVERHEATING REDUCE SPEED ALERT. I EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND PROCEEDED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS SAFE TO CONTINUE ON MY TRIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROPULSION ALERT WAS NOT AN IMMEDIATE CONCERN & THAT THE OVERHEATING WAS LIKELY NOT RELATED. I ALSO RECEIVED A GM DIAGNOSTIC E-MAIL STATING THERE WAS AN EMISSIONS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE SERVICED WITHIN 7 DAYS, BUT DID NOT BECOME AWARE OF THIS E-MAIL UNTIL A DAY LATER. APPROX 200 MI LATER, I WAS ON A REMOTE, UNLIGHTED HIGHWAY WHEN I RECEIVED AN ENGINE UNAVAILABLE ALERT AND LOST POWER. MY CAR QUICKLY DECELERATED, BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A NARROW SHOULDER. I TIRED TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, APPLY EMERGENCY BRAKES, AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN BUT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO TELL IF THESE FEATURES WERE WORKING. I PUT THE HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND WAITED FOR A CHP OFFICER DUE TO LACK OF CELL SERVICE & HIGHWAY SAFETY CONCERNS AT NIGHT. AFTER 3 HOURS, ALL SYSTEMS FAILED, INCLUDING LIGHTS. ONLY MANUAL LOCKS WORKED. AFTER TWO 30 MI TOWS TO GET TO A DEALERSHIP WITH A VOLT TECH, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A BAD EGR VALVE WAS CAUSING A FUSE TO BLOW,. THE VALVE WAS ORDERED (TECH REMARKED THAT THE PART IS "POPULAR") & INSTALLED. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE FIXED. BUT, IT IS UNCLEAR IF THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW, MANUFACTURING FLAW, OR A ONE TIME OCCURRENCE.

My car stopped all of a sudden and lost power while my wife was driving. She could've been in a major accident since the car lost power. This has happened a few times in the past. Luckily she wasn't on the freeway or she could've been rear ended at highway speeds. There were warning lamps that said check engine and "Lost Propulsion". This should be looked at closely as my safety as well as the safety of others was at risk. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION! I had my car towed to the nearest auto repair shop where it is being looked at.

  • 12/13/2023· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

The car regularly reports it is healthy and functioning correctly. It is regularly serviced and there was no advance warning of this problem. While driving the car displayed a message to the driver, something such as "reduced propulsion" and the speed of the car was reduced while the internal combustion engine intermittently raced in an uncharacteristic manner. The amber Check Engine light was displayed. A review of error codes later found a communication fault developed with the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM). As soon as it was possible, we got the car to the side of the road and shut it off. We then attempted to start the car and it displayed a warning that no key fob was present (but there was a key fob in the car). A few minutes later the car started and we were able to drive it to a service center where error codes were captured. Afterwards, the car drove as normal, and later even the amber Check Engine light was extinguished. The service center explained this could be an intermittent problem where the car will suddenly throw the error message ("low propulsion") and the car will have to be pulled to the side of the road. It will be a few weeks before the service center can do any work on the car. Since the car may start and drive, but suddenly find its speed reduced to far below the speed limit, the car can no longer be safely operated.

While driving to work, the vehicle shook a bit and entered into "reduced propulsion mode". The vehicle had a significant reduction in engine power on the road (the propulsion became very jerky), which became dangerous on the highway. There were no previous indicators of any type of issue. After brining the vehicle to the dealership, I was told it would be okay to drive until my appointment (which was scheduled for the subsequent week). Two days later, the vehicle would not start. When attempting to start the car, the "Shift to Park" message displayed. I had to get the vehicle towed to the dealership at that point. Around the tenth of November my car, a 2017 Premier Volt bought used, began to display an information message that the propulsion power is reduces. It displayed 0 mi EV range, even though I knew I had some left. When I started to drive the engine seemed louder than usual and the check engine light was on. I pulled into a parking lot, and checked under the hood just to make sure nothing was obviously smoking or sparking. I turned the car on and off, and drove around the parking lot a few times until it resumed normal functionality, however the check engine light remained. This was after dark, when I got off work, and I drive home on Highway 49. I did not want to drive it home on the highway in the dark until the issue seemed resolved. Since the manual claimed that if I see both reduced propulsion and check engine light I should immediately take the car to my dealer, I made an appointment with them for the sixteenth of November. For the next couple days I continued to have the same issues, propulsion reduced, incorrectly displaying 0 EV miles, and the check engine light coming on. Starting and stopping the car, or driving around the parking lot a couple times seemed to temporarily solve the issues. At the dealer, I was told there is no ETA on the part, and that it is back ordered or wait listed. The issue is with the BCEM or battery energy control module. They provided me with a rental car for the time being. A few weeks have passed, so I called them today, the 11th of December, but there is still no eta. They are still waiting for the BCEM, which is back ordered.

WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY, WHEN I SHIFT TO PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF IT DOES NOT ALWAYS RECOGNIZE THAT IT IS IN PARK AND DIRECTS "SHIFT TO PARK," DESPITE THE SHIFTER BEING IN PARK, AND WILL NOT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE IT IS UNCLEAR WHETHER THE CAR IS IN PARK OR NOT. ALSO BEING UNABLE TO LOCK THE CAR MEANS THE CAR IS AT RISK FOR VANDALISM AND/OR A CHILD GETTING INTO THE CAR AND TURNING IT ON.

Battery Energy Control Module failed resulting in significantly reduced and unreliable propulsion power available reducing maneuverability and increasing risk of collision at speeds over 45 mph. Check Engine Light illuminated as well as a “propulsion power reduced” message on the dashboard. The problem was confirmed by a dealer and repaired under 8 year / 100000 mile voltec warranty.

On 2 separate time periods, "propulsion power reduced" message appears on dash: - 1st incident in November 2022, car would not move after powering off the vehicle. After sitting idle for a week, decided to retry, and car seemed to work normally. Took it in to Chevy service, they replaced the BECM. Car worked fine after this - 2nd incident in November 2023, again 'propulsion power reduced' message appeared. This time, however, car would suddenly cut off gas engine (even at highway speed), switching to 100% battery mode, and displaying 'Engine not available' on dashboard. Fuel level indicator would immediately display 'LOW' (even though gas tank was full). Reduced acceleration on battery mode. Car is now in same service center awaiting fix for the past month. Was quite an unsafe situation, especially at highway speeds, and especially given the fact that the battery also may have been at a low state of charge, risking complete vehicle breakdown. Coupled with both of these incidents, the cruise control intermittently shuts off, displaying 'Cruise control unavailable'. Car is lightly utilized, with just over 30k miles on the odometer to date. Additionally, the car is kept in a mild climate (coastal southern california) and parked in a covered spot shielded from sun and temperature extremes.

The battery control module failed and it was replaced at the dealership. The low propulsion mode went into effect twice before it failed and I could not drive it in my driveway. The warning lamp was on but it was on for a while before the failure due to low battery on the key fob. Chevy is aware of the problem and there is a class action lawsuit just for the battery control module issue. The contact mentioned that the electrical hybrid battery failure warning error was illuminated, and the check engine warning light was also illuminated. The vehicle was able to start after multiple attempts to switch over to gasoline mode. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery energy control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

This vehicle has a very dangerous malfunction. There was no power when I tried to move out of the way of an out-of-control semi truck while driving on the highway by pressing the pedal. I made every effort to maneuver because I was terrified. But because of the power outage, I could have died. This is really worrying, and I hope you can address the issue raised by Chevy so that someone else might be spared and so that future generations of electric cars are constructed to a standard that includes safety. Thank you.

The vehicle tells me to "stop and shift to park" while I am driving, and power was lost to accessories such as the climate control. Since the EGR was identified as the cause of the problem, the car remains on "Propulsion Power Reduced" mode. The EGR has been backordered for months, if not years, and aftermarket third-party EGR valves are not readily available either. However, there is no recall, and this is clearly a common problem on these vehicles as attested on GM-Volt forums. The EGR failed about one year ago, but now the message on reduced propulsion power is presented every time I start the vehicle.
