- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERYCampaign 17V418000 · 29/06/2017
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Honda Accord vehicles. The case for the battery sensor, part of the battery management system, may allow water to get in, potentially causing an electrical short.
Risk: An electrical short increases the risk of a fire.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the sensor, free of charge. Dealers will perform an interim remedy of applying adhesive to the case to prevent water intrusion. The recall began November 8, 2017. Owners may contact American Honda Customer Support Center at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is KG0.
- FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMPCampaign 19V060000 · 29/01/2019
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Acura MDX, 2015-2019 Acura TLX and 2015-2017 Honda Accord vehicles, equipped with a 3.5L V6 engine. Particulates in fuel may adhere to the internal components of the fuel pump, reducing its performance.
Risk: Reduced fuel pump performance can result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of crash.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will update the fuel injection engine control unit (FI-ECU) software and, if necessary, replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began March 25, 2019. Owners may contact customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Acura's recall number for this recall is P3W. Honda's recall number for this recall is N3X.

The car speakers and microphones unexpectedly emit deafening loud static sounds that continues while driving. Powering audio system OFF makes no difference. The static is at least 90 decibels. It's frightening and impedes safe driving. Cale YARBOROUGH'S HONDA DEALERSHIP is witness to the defect and determine that the "head unit" must be replaced. The head unit integrates the audio, Bluetooth, GPS and backup & blind spot camera functions. The dealership has ordered a replacement head unit but it is on backorder indefinitely! There have been many other reports of this problem with this equipment. Please help me get my car safe again. American Honda has been aware of the problem but ineffective in its response.

On 12/29/22, while in our driveway and preparing to leave home, our forward-facing daughter alerted us to a functionality issue with her car seat straps. The child was able to pull herself all the way forward while strapped into her car seat. After tightening the straps several times, the issue persisted and she continued to be able to fully loosen the straps by simply leaning forward. This demonstrated the way she would have flown forward in the event of an accident, because the straps were not properly restraining her. The car seat was removed from the vehicle and brought inside the home for closer inspection. The locking mechanism in the base of the seat, which typically allows a parent to tighten the straps but then locks the straps in place to prevent loosening, had clearly been rendered nonfunctional. Despite visually appearing functional and safe, the mechanism was not functioning correctly. At that time, a flashlight was used to inspect the mechanism closer. A very small shard of mulch was the culprit. We suspect this mulch must have fallen from our child’s clothing, fallen through the designated strap’s hole in the car seat cover, insidiously jammed itself into the locking mechanism during a routine tightening, and rendered the lock nonfunctional. We believe this to be a significant safety issue that could feasibly repeat without redesign of the mechanism and/or cover of the seat. The mechanism should not be designed in such a way that external items (mulch, food, etc) can interfere. We reported this issue to Graco as well yesterday, 12/29/22. We also have a video of the carseat prior to the removal of the mulch shard demonstrating the nonfunctional mechanism.

THE FIRESTONE AFFINITY TOURING TIRES ON MY 2016 HONDA ACCORD WOULD NOT GRIP ON A DUSTING OF SNOW AND ICE! (LESS THAN ONE INCH!) THE TIRES WOULD SPIN AND SLIP ON A SLIGHT INCLINE OUT OF A DRIVEWAY AT MY LOCAL DRUGSTORE! OTHER CARS WHERE PASSING ME BY WITH NO PROBLEM. WHEN COMING HOME AND SLOWLY TURNING INTO MY PARKING GARAGE, THE TIRES STARTED TO SLIP AND SKID! I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR MANY YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE OR TIRE BRAND! THESE ARE LOW RESISTANCE TIRES WHICH GRIP WELL ON DRY PAVEMENT BUT DO NOT GRIP IN THE SNOW! I HAVE READ OTHER REPORTS FROM PEOPLE THAT THIS BRAND OF TIRE GAVE THEM THE SAME PROBLEM. IN SHORT, THESE TIRES SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN FACTORY INSTALLED ON THIS VEHICLE UNLESS IT WAS TO BE SOLD IN A DRY CLIMATE REGION! I AM NOW PAYING FOR A CAR I CANNOT USE IN THE SNOW AND AM HAVING A HARD TIME AT THE DEALERSHIP NOW TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE! IT'S FUNNY THAT ALL THE HONDA ACCORDS I HAVE SEEN IN DEALERSHIPS AND ON THE STREET HAVE GOODYEAR OR MICHELIN TIRES ON THEM! NOT FIRESTONE!

HELLO, GOOD MORNING, I WANT TO MAKE A COMPLAINT, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP ME. WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR WAS THAT I BOUGHT IT AT A MAJOR WORLD DEALERSHIP IN LONG ISLAND CITY, WHICH THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CAR DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT OR TOTAL LOSS REPORT, WHICH TURNS OUT TO BE A LIE AFTER A FEW MONTHS WITH THE CAR. I NOTICED THAT THE CAR HAS TOTAL DAMAGE. HEY, IT EVEN HAS PART FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE. I'VE TRIED TO GET HIM TO HELP ME, BUT HE SAYS IT DOESN'T HAVE TO DO WITH THE CAR ANYMORE. THEY ALSO CHARGED ME A GUARANTEE OF 3,000 DOLLARS AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO COVER WHAT THE VEHICLE HAS IN CONCLUSION; THE CAR HAS A DESTABILIZING REAR RUBBER, THE PART OF THE TRUNK ENTERS THE WATER, THE DOORS ON THE LEFT SIDE DO NOT BELONG TO THE SAME VIN NUMBER OF THE VEHICLE AND A NO NUMBER OF THING. PLEASE, I ASK YOU TO HELP ME SINCE I AM A YOUNG LATINO IMMIGRANT WHO WANTS TO GET AHEAD IN THE UNITED STATES. RIGHT NOW I AM USING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TO GO TO WORK

I WENT TO A BODY WORKER YESTERDAY BECAUSE MY LOWER AND UPPER BACK AND LEGS WERE IN SUCH PAIN. I TRIED PLACING PILLOWS AND TOWELS IN STRATEGIC PLACES, AND I JUST ORDERED A VARIETY OF LUMBAR SUPPORT / CUSHIONS TO TRY TO ALLEVIATE THE PAIN. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I JUST SPENT $33,000 FOR THIS CAR AND CANNOT DRIVE IT FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES BEFORE EXPERIENCING EXCRUCIATING PAIN. I HAVE JUST OVER 1,100 MILES ON IT AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. I TRIED ADJUSTING THE DRIVER SEAT POSITIONS: FORWARD/BACK, UP/DOWN, ANGLED/LEVELED THE SEAT, ADJUSTED THE LUMBER SUPPORT TO MORE/LESS PRONOUNCED POSITIONS, WITHOUT FINDING A POSITION THAT ALLEVIATES THE PAIN. ALSO, WHEN I TRY TO ADJUST THE STEERING WHEEL TO SEE IF ARM POSITION MIGHT BE PART OF THE PROBLEM, IT LANDS EITHER HIGH, OR IF I LOWER IT, THE WHEEL BLOCKS THE SPEEDOMETER IN THE RANGE 55-85 MI/HR. MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE, A DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, HAD WONDERFUL SEATS. Based on extensive research and the replacement of the factory amplifier, I’m assuming that the component that’s failing is the head unit for the radio. It unpredictably makes this loud static noise come out the speakers that cannot be turned down or off even when the audio power is off. This is a risk to my and other drivers’ safety due to the volume of this noise and the fact I cannot do anything to stop it while driving. The only solution is to pull over and turn the car off. The static noise is so loud that I can’t even hear a horn honking at me and can barely hear emergency vehicles. The problem is hard to reproduce as the static happens unpredictably but I’ve taken it to an audio repair shop and we were able to produce the static noise after about 10 minutes of music playing. This component has apparently been complained about by many people having the same issue as me yet Honda is not recalling or owning up to this failure. I have yet to take it to a Honda dealership to have it inspected but from other’s experience they’ve mentioned that the technicians said nothing can be done but replacing the entire head unit for about $1000. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. This problem first appeared about 6 months ago. I don’t understand why so many people are having this issue yet the part has not been recalled yet. PLEASE recall the head unit of 2016-2017 honda accords.

The battery charging sensor failed about 1 month ago. A message on my dash displayed a serious waring to "Check Charging System" to prevent a sudden loss of power and control of my vehicle. I checked the charging system and found it in working order - but the battery sensor had failed so I replaced it, and the problem was solved. I called Honda @ 800 999-1009 and they told me that although the same year, make and model had been recalled for the same defective part that my VIN wasn't included in their recall and they would not reimburse me for the cost of the defective part I replaced ($33.69) until I received a notice that my VIN was included in their recall. I respectfully request that NHTSA follows up with Honda to ensure all affective vehicles are included in their recall. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the battery warning light and other unknown warning lights temporarily illuminated, and the vehicle almost shut off. The contact stated that the failure had recurred while driving on two other occasions. Additionally, the contact stated that upon coming to a complete stop, the vehicle shut off. The contact stated that upon jumpstarting the vehicle, the vehicle shut off again after disconnecting the jumper cables. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that upon turning off the vehicle and removing the key from the ignition, the instrument cluster lights flickered for an extended period. The contact ordered an alternator from Amazon and replaced the alternator; however, the failure persisted. The contact's husband purchased the alternator from Auto Zone and replaced the alternator, and the vehicle operated as intended temporarily. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V418000 (Electrical System), which the contact related to the failure. When the car reaches operating temperature slowly a static noise will creep over the speakers and then quickly cut out the audio input and put the speakers to full volume with waves of loud static. Turning off the stereo and turning down the volume does nothing to stop the static. The only way to stop it is to pull the radio fuse. This will also happen on a hot day and not slowly build just suddenly loud static as soon as the car turns on. This is a safety risk because the sound is so loud and distracting it’s hard to focus on everything going on around you and in order to pull the fuse out to stop it you need to pull over and it’s not always in a safe location. When I called and asked the Honda dealership in Stockton CA about it they were familiar with the problem when I described it to them but it has not been replicated in my car specifically by a separate party. No inspection was performed by police or other. There were no lights or warning when it first occurred. The problem first occurred in June when the weather started to get hot. I tried installing the fuse again now that it’s cold and it happened again once the car got to operating temperature.
