CAR HAS BEEN VIBRATING WHENEVER ACCELERATING SINCE THE FIRST 6 MONTHS AFTER IT WAS PURCHASED. CAR WAS PURCHASED IN 2016. STARTED STALLING A FEW MONTHS AGO AFTER ANY STOPS. THOUGHT MAYBE TRANSMISSION OIL WAS LOW OR DIRTY SO I HAD IT CHANGED. RIGHT AFTER OIL CHANGE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR BEGAN DRIVING AS IT WOULD GET STUCK. HAD THE CAR CODED AND IT CAME BACK THAT THE CLUTCH WAS GETTING JAMMED. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD THEY SAID THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THAT THEY WOULD FIX IT AS LONG AS I WAS UNDER 100K. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY STALL AT VARIOUS TIMES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED MOST OFTEN WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND ACCELERATING UPHILL. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO SHUDDER WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT CALLED AUTONATION FORD CORPUS CHRISTI (LOCATED AT 6250 SOUTH PADRE ISLAND DRIVE, CORPUS CHRISTI, TX 78412, 361-444-0125) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR FOR THE RECALL WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE 6-SPEED DUAL-CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS A WELL-DOCUMENTED SHUDDER WHEN BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE- JERKY MOTION, NO OR DELAYED MOTION, EXTREME SHAKING OF THE FRONT OF THE CAR. IT HAPPENS REPEATEDLY. FORD HAS REPAIRED THIS PROBLEM ONCE, BUT THE REPAIR PROCESS WAS FAULTY, AS THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED. IN 8/2019, FORD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE CAR TO 7 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES, FOR FOCUSES BUILT BETWEEN JULY 4, 2013, TO NOV. 5, 2015. MY 2016 FOCUS WAS BUILT AFTER THIS DATE, SO FORD IS NOT MAKING THE REPAIR. THEY CLAIM CHANGES WERE MADE TO SUBSEQUENT MODELS TO ALLEVIATE THE NEED FOR REPAIRS-- BUT MY 2016 FOCUS IS PROBLEMATIC FOR THE SECOND TIME, SHOOTING DOWN THAT ASSERTION.
- 12/21/2024· FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
The evap purge valve assembly failed. An engine warning lamp did appear. While driving down the interstate the incorrect fuel mixture caused the vehicle to stall while in motion with my wife, and at the time, [XXX] son were in vehicle. Although there was no accident, all power was lost and the vehicle had to maneuvered into the shoulder to prevent rear ending other vehicles. This was the 2nd time in 2 weeks. The vehicle was called into the Ford recall line, as there has been an open recall on the vehicle model and year. The ford recall line said the vehicle was not affected by the recall, and no recall repairs had been made the vehicle. The ford recall rep recommended to take the vehicle to a ford dealership. The vehicle has been inspected by a Ford dealership. The dealership confirmed the issue was the issue seen in previous recalls, but the dealership stated they could see a previous dealership had made the recall repaired (in contrast to the ford recall representative’s statement). So, the vehicle was either not repaired under either of the (2) active recalls (as stated by the ford dealership), or the recall fix to update the software and replace the evap purge valve is not effective, leaving the vehicle in an unsafe condition to operate. The rich mix of fuel caused by the failure has led to a clogged catalytic converter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle hesitates, stutters and stalls when accelerating at any speed. The dealership told us it is either a transmission module or fuel module problem. They don’t have parts to fix it. There’s been a recall and a lawsuit about this same year, make and model, but they tell us our Vin is not included in any of this. it continues to do this to this day. The dealership wants us to drop it off and leave it for 3 to 4 weeks. We can’t be without a car so we are struggling with it. We wrote Ford Motor Company a letter and they told us to contact you. The lawsuit that they lost, gave us an extended warranty, but they refuse to honor it.

They told me that this problem is well known by Ford for my car. Ford did receive several claims and lawsuits regarding this issue. The repair shop told me the cluck could cause a fire too. Another repair shop asked me $2,623.78 to repair the car on 11/11/2022.

Driving on the highway with cruise control on at about 60MPH, with no warning, engine revved to a high RPM with a near total loss of power. Message on the dashboard said to have the Transmission serviced. Car was brought to the dealer where they diagnosed that the Transmission Control Module needed to be replaced, and also the clutch needed to be replaced. Invoice attached. There is a Ford Customer Satisfaction Program associated with this problem that includes Focuses manufactured up to November 5, 1995. When they checked my car's VIN, they said it was not covered because my car was manufactured on November 11th 1995. This CSP is also attached. I believe that the actual number of vehicles affected is more than they have indicated in the CSP and that mine is also affected because it exhibited the same problem and was manufactured within 6 days of the cutoff. This is a dangerous situation that could have resulted in an accident. Luckily the highway was not very busy when it occured.

The vehicle began to slip gears after only accruing a little more than 70,000 miles. I will slightly accelerate using the foot pedal, and the gear will jump from 1 to 4/5 quickly, causing a severe jerking motion in the vehicle. The vehicle also jerks when decelerating. This has put me in several dangerous situations, such as when I enter a new roadway and need to accelerate to meet the rate of oncoming traffic. This is also an issue when slowing to stops, as sometimes the gear will jump to a HIGHER number as i take my foot off the pedal. I have an automatic transmission I am using. The check engine light has come on, but only after the issue began. I have been told by an auto service center that this is a transmission-related issue.

I BOUGHT THE CAR AT A FORD DEALER IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR AND WAS STEERED INTO IT WITHOUT ANY MENTION OF THE TRANNY AND CLUTCH PROBLEMS. SURE ENOUGH THE CLUTCH IS SLIPPING AT ONLY 12000 MILES! WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A CLUTCH TO COME IN FOR 10 DAYS SO FAR. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY JUST SAID THEY WOULD KEEP FIXING IT. I CAN`T BELIEVE THAT THEY WERE ALLOWED TO KEEP SELLING THESE CARS KNOWING THE PROBLEMS THAT THEY HAD! WE TOLD THEM WE WERE BUYING A CAR TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO THE CITY WHEN MY BF GETS HIS KIDNEY TRANSPLANT AND THIS IS WHAT WE ARE STUCK PAYING FOR FOR OVER 5 MORE YEARS AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO PERMANENT FIX! WE ARE SCARED TO EVEN DRIVE IT! IT JERKS INTO GEAR FROM LOW TO 2 AND SOMETIMES HESITATES. IF IT DOES THIS AT THE WRONG TIME, IT COULD GET US KILLED!

I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR A SAFETY RECALL INVOLVING A STUCK CANUSTER PURGE VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK. AT THE TIME, (MARCH 2020) THEY USED ONE OF THEIR DEVICES TO DETECT PRESSURE AND NO CODES CAME UP WITH A DETECTION SO THEY DID NOT FIX THE VALVE AND CLOSED MY RECALL. IT IS NOW ONLY 9 MONTHS LATER AND THE SAME VALVE THAT WAS RECALLED IS FAULTY AND HAS CRUSHED MY FUEL TANK AND DEFORMED MY PUMP. THEY HOWEVER, ARE REFUSING TO REOPEN THE RECALL AND FIX THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH IT IS A VERY SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD. MY FUEL TANK COULD COMBUST AT ANY TIME BECAUSE IT ISNT ABLE TO RELEASE PRESSURE PROPERLY AND THIS ALL DUE TO THEIR FAULTY VALVE INVOLVED IN RECALL #: 18V735000 IS THERE ANYTHING YOU GUYS CAN DO ON YOUR WND TO HELP ME FIGHT THIS?
