Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. The front blower motor located behind the glove box may fail.
Risk: Front blower motor failure can increase the risk of a vehicle interior fire.
Fix: Dealers will replace the front blower motor assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 4, 2023. Remedy parts are expected to become available in the second quarter of 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S56.
- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSISTCampaign 22V150000 · 11/03/2022
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and 2016-2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with 3.5L Ecoboost engines. The brake master cylinder may allow brake fluid to leak from the front wheel circuit into the brake booster.
Risk: A loss of brake fluid may result in a change in brake pedal travel, increased pedal effort and reduced front brake function, requiring greater effort and distance to stop the vehicle. These conditions can increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder. If the master cylinder is leaking, the brake booster will also be replaced. Repairs will be performed free of charge. An interim owner notification letter notifying customers of the safety defect were mailed on April 29, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed April 29, 2022. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall number 20V-332. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S11.

MY 2016 FORD EXPEDITION EL LTD V-6 3.5L WITH 354 ODOMETER MILES PRODUCED 4 MINOR PRELUDE ENGINE SURGES WITHIN A COUPLE HOURS ON THE ROADWAYS BEFORE IT WENT FULL THROTTLE 5 TIMES WITHIN A COUPLE MINUTES. IT SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING, RAN DOWN MY WIFE AFTER SQUISHING HER AGAINST THE GARAGE-BEDROOM WALL (WHICH WAS DESTROYED) IN REVERSE, PLACED ME IN TRAFFIC DANGER WHEN IT RACED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, PLACED A WITNESS DRIVING IN THE STREET IN DANGER AS IT BACKED UP, AND WHILE TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY FORWARD, PLOWED HALF ITS LENGTH INTO A NEIGHBORS HOUSE, AND DESTROYED MOST OF ITS EXTERIOR AS A RESULT OF THE FORWARD AND REVERSE COLLISIONS. THE BRAKES WERE ABSOLUTELY USELESS AND COULD NOT BEGIN TO OVERPOWER THE INDIVIDUAL ENGINE FULL POWER SURGES. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED DESPITE THE FRONTAL IMPACT EXCEEDING 15 MPH. THE FULL THROTTLE ENGINE SURGE DURATIONS APPROXIMATED 6 SECONDS EACH; AND, THE TEMPORARY RETURNS TO IDLE LASTED 2-4 SECONDS. MY WIFE IS QUITE INJURED; BUT, COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN KILLED. I WAS PLANNING A HEAD-ON LARGE OAK TREE RAMMING TO STOP THE VEHICLE ONCE-AND-FOR-ALL. OTHER PEOPLE AND FORD NEED TO BE ADVISED OF THIS POTENTIAL DEATH TRAP SITUATION. PLEASE HELP.

while driving on the highway my vehicle shut down and service lamp came on and while drifting tried to put transmission in neutral and restart but had to come to complete stop to restart engine in park. I was in third lane and had no warning before shut down and could not get to the shoulder. (almost got hit trying). I reported to the dealer and they said there was no fault codes stored. I was driving to work on a 4 lane street a week later and again it shut down without previous warning again and had to crash up onto the curb to get off street to again restart in park. dealer said again no codes and could not get it to duplicate problem after driving. It happened two more times so i looked into it myself and i read online that the Throttle body is the likely issue. i returned and paid to have the throttle body replaced. they said would not guarantee the issue would be resolved. it has been months and have had no issues since i had it replaced. They charged me $563.31 not including tax. I can not believe that you have to put a vehicle in park when it stalls to begin with but i also can not believe this issue was never recalled since it is a major safety issue and see lots of people and complained of the same issue.

STARTED THE CAR TO GET HEATER GOING AND WARMED UP AND STARTED BUCKLING MY KIDS UP IN THEIR CAR SEATS. THAT'S WHEN I STARTED TO SMELL AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. I TURNED THE HEATER OFF AND THE SMELL GOT STRONGER. I TURNED THE HEATER BACK ON AND SMELLED IT EVEN WORSE. I IMMEDIATELY SWITCHED IT TO AC INSTEAD OF HEAT AND THEN I STARTED TO NOTICE SMOKE COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE CAR OFF. THE SMOKE CONTINUED TO BELLO OUT OF THE AIR VENTS. AS SOON AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TURNED OFF I NOTICED A GLOW UNDER THE PASSENGER DASH DOWN BY THE CORNER OF THE FLOORBOARD. WHEN I WENT AROUND TO LOOK TO SEE WHAT WAS GLOWING I NOTICED THERE WAS A FIRE DOWN IN THAT CORNER AND IT WAS ALREADY BIG ENOUGH THAT I COULDN'T BLOW IT OUT NO MATTER HOW HARD I BLEW. I AM THANKFUL THAT I KEEP A FIRE EXTINGUISHER IN MY GARAGE AND WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY PUT IT OUT. I NORMALLY STRAP MY KIDS IN AND TURN ON A MOVIE FOR THEM WHILE I GO BACK IN THE HOUSE AND SPEND AROUND 3 TO 5 MINUTES GETTING THE KIDS WATERS, MAKING SURE THE DIAPER BAG IS STOCKED, AND BASIC STUFF LIKE THAT. HAD THAT FIRE STARTED AFTER I WALKED BACK IN THE HOUSE I AM SURE THAT I WOULD HAVE LOST MY KIDS IN A BLAZE, STRAPPED IN TO CAR SEATS, THAT DAY. IT WAS THANKSGIVING EVE. I FOUND OUT THAT THE BLOWER FAN FOR THE VENTS IS WHAT SPARKED UP AND CAUGHT FIRE. THERE ARE NO RECALLS BY FORD FOR THIS AND I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. THIS IS AN ENORMOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND I AM SHOCKED THAT IT HAS GONE IGNORED BY FORD. DOES AN ACTUAL DEATH NEED TO TAKE PLACE BEFORE THEY SET IT RIGHT? BECAUSE I DID JUST BUY IT; THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FAN. BUT THE FLOORBOARD IN THAT CORNER IS ALL BURNT UP AND AM NOW QUESTIONING WHAT MORE SERIOUS DAMAGE IS IN THAT DASH THAT I CAN'T SEE. LIKE THE AIRBAG OR OTHER ELECTRONIC WIRING THAT MAY NOW BE AT RISK.*DT*JB

ON 11-30-2016 WITH CLEAR WEATHER AT ABOUT 3 PM TRAVELING AT TRAFFIC SPEED OF 70 MPH ON I610 SOUTH LOOP EAST HARRIS COUNTY TX (CITY OF HOUSTON) IN THE 3RD LANE RIGHT FROM THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULDER OF 4 LANES, A "WRENCH" ICON COME ON THE DISPLAY AND SAID TO CONTACT THE DEALER. IMMEDIATELY AT THE SAME TIME THE EXPEDITION LOST ALL ACCELERATOR POWER. THE PEDAL WENT LIMP. A HAZARDOUS, PERILOUS DRIFT ACROSS THE ONCOMING 2 RIGHT LANES TO THE SHOULDER WAS TERRIFYING . BY THE GRACE OF GOD WE MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT BEING HIT AND/OR CAUSING A MULTI CAR WRECK AND PROBABLE FATALITIES. THE CAR MOTOR CONTINUED RUNNING, BUT THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION, NO POWER TO MOVE THE CAR. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY IDENTIFIED AS THE FAILURE AND WAS REPLACED. THE ORIGINAL PART THROTTLE BODY REPLACED WAS PART # BL3Z*9E9268A. THE NEW THROTTLE BODY IS PART # BL3Z*9E926*B. I HAVE HAD THIS FORD EXPEDITION FOR 11 MONTHS. I LEARNED MANY THROTTLE BODY PARTS ON FORD EXPLORERS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR INFORMATION. THERE WAS NO LISTINGS OF 2016 EXPEDITIONS HAVING THIS LIFE THREATENING FAILURE. I DO HOPE AND PRAY THAT NO ONE IS HURT OR KILLED BEFORE THIS SITUATION IS CORRECTED. *TR

The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway and the vehicle was restarted. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The check engine warning light was illuminated. THIS ISSUE BEGAN ABOUT A MONTH AGO ON MY COMMUTE HOME FROM WORK, ALL ENGINE POWER WAS LOST AS I CAME OFF THE FREEWAY, THE COMPUTER ALERTED WITH A WRENCH ICON. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF, THEN AFTER A MINUTE RESTARTED. IT STARTED OK, I THEN USED AN ODB ADAPTER TO READ THE CODES, AND FOUND A SOFT (NOT PERMANENT) CODE P2112 (THROTTLE BODY STUCK CLOSED). I IMMEDIATELY CALL THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. WHEN THEY GOT THE CAR, THE CODE WAS NO LONGER IN THE COMPUTER. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC, DECLARED THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING, CHARGED ME $200, AND SENT ME HOME. SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS ABOUT 10 DAYS AGO, AGAIN DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, THEN WHILE COMING UP TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE SAME FAILURE HAPPENED AGAIN. AFTER RESTARTING, AND DRIVING HOME, I BEGAN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM. TODAY, WHILE RETURNING HOME IN THE RAIN DURING A 5 MILE DRIVE IT FAILED 5 TIMES, EACH TIME I HAD TO PULL OVER, SHUT IT DOWN THEN RESTART. NOW I HAVE A PERMANENT CODE STORED IN THE COMPUTER (P2112) AND AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX IT. I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WILL BE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP, BUT I AM OUT OF WARRANTY NOW, AND THEY WILL INDEED CHARGE ME. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND BELIEVE FORD SHOULD PROVIDE AN UPDATED PART THAT WILL RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I SUSPECT THAT THIS WILL IN TIME CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, PERHAPS EVEN INJURY FOR SOMEONE. THIS IS DUE TO AUTO MANUFACTURERS REMOVING THE RATHER SIMPLE MECHANICAL LINKAGE FROM PEDAL TO THROTTLE AND TURNING THIS OVER TO A COMPUTER. TO BE SURE, IT IS THE COMPUTER THAT IS CREATING THE DANGEROUS CIRCUMSTANCES BY DISENGAGING ALL THROTTLE CONTROL WHEN THE THROTTLE BODY IS STICKING, FORCING THE DRIVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (ASSUMING THERE IS A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER).

BRAKING ABILITY WENT TO 0% WHILE DRIVING; ACCOMPANIED BY A "BRAKE FLUID IS LOW" DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHT (DASHBOARD LAMP BECAME LIT AFTER BRAKING APPLIED ). WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED THERE WAS 0% AVAILABLE TO SLOW/STOP THE VEHICLE (IN HEAVY TRAFFIC). DRIVER WAS ABLE TO AVOID A CROWDED INTERSECTION AND A RED LIGHT TO MY VEHICLE TRAFFIC DIRECTION (RED LIGHT TO ME) BY APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKE AND A SURVIVABLE DISTANCE BETWEEN ME AND THE TRAFFIC IN MY 4 (TRAVELING IN AN EASTERLY DIRECTION) LANES. UPON TURNING ONTO A RESIDENTIAL STREET NEAR MY HOME, I WAS ABLE TO CREEP (<5MPH) HOME. I ADDED DOT 4 BRAKE FLUID (FROM A NEWLY OPENED BOTTLE) AND FILLED THE MASTER CYLINDER TO JUST BELOW THE "MAX" LINE ON THE RESERVOIR. IN THE MORNING YOU COULDN'T GAUGE MY SHOCK, WHEN TO MY SURPRISE THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY AND DEVOID OF ANY BRAKE FLUID. NOT ONLY THAT! BUT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF LEAKAGE ON THE GROUND. I HAVE A PAINTED DRIVEWAY AND THERE WAS NO FORENSIC EVIDENCE OF ANY KIND OF VEHICLE FLUID LEAKS. I WAS AGHAST! I HAVE SEVERAL OF MY NEIGHBORS COME OVER AS THEY SAW ME ATTENDING TO MY VEHICLE. WE ALL HAD FLASHLIGHTS AND WERE SCOURING THE VEHICLE LOOKING FOR ANY EVIDENCE OF BRAKE FLUID. THERE SIMPLY WAS NONE! I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO MY FORD DEALER AND AWAITED A DIAGNOSIS. TURNS OUT IT WAS A FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER IN COMBINATION WITH A BRAKE BOOSTER THAT DRINKS BRAKE FLUID WHEN IT CAN GET IT. TOGETHER THEY ARE A POTENTIALLY LETHAL COMBINATION NOT TO MENTION A COSTLY PAIR TO REPAIR. IF THERE EVER WAS A REASON FOR A RECALL IT WOULD BE TO REMEDY THIS LIABILITY WAITING TO HAPPEN ONTO FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I SIMPLY CANNOT FATHOM WHY NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN AND HENCE THE REASON I AM COMPLAINING. I SEEK TO GET SOME SATISFACTION FROM FOMOCO ON THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE OF THEIR TRUSTING, BUYING PUBLIC BECOMES A TRAGEDY OF THIS SIMPLE FIX. IT IS UNCONSCIONABLE! ACT NOW!

THE VEHICLE BLOWER SPEED CONTROLLER DOESN'T MATCH SETTING ON THE CLEMENT CONTROL. THE BLOWER WILL BLOW AT FULL SPEED OR NOT AT ALL. THIS HAPPENS NOT MATTER THE DISPOSITION TO THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THIS IN WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, NOTHING WAS FOUND. SECOND TIME OUT OF WARRANTY, STATED IT WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT WAS NEEDED. THIRD TIME THEY FOUND THE ISSUE WITH THE SPEED CONTROL AND THE WIRE HARNESS HAD MELTED (POTENTIAL FIRE ISSUES). NOW THAT THE ISSUE WAS FOUND, PALM COAST FORD REFUSES TO FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY. ON SEARCHING MOST COMMON ISSUES WITH THE FORD EXPEDITION I HAVE FOUND THAT THE BLOWER SPEED CONTROL IS AN ISSUE FOR MANY PEOPLE. FROM PERSONAL FINDING, IT IS A FIRE HAZARD, WHICH MAKES IT A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAD MENTIONED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. WHEN IT GOT MORE COMMON OF AN ISSUE AND MORE ANNOYING, I TOOK IT IN WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY TO HAVE IT DOCUMENTED.

During normal dealer service interval, I was advised by car dealer that lug nuts were in need of replacement. As vehicle is less than 5 years old and has under 60k miles, I said that seemed abnormal. Service agent advised they “see it all the time.” As this seems like a safety issue, I inquired if there was a recall or service bulletin. Advised, there was none. Work was completed. I contacted Ford Motor Company and asked about issue and reimbursement. They told me it was a known issue and that no recall existed and therefore they would NOT reimburse. They told me their current position is that lug nuts are a “wear and tear item” like tires. In June 2023 there was a strong burning smell in our 2016 Expedition's cabin. We took the vehicle to a mechanic and they found that a small fire had started around the blower motor that burned up the wires in/around the blower motor. The mechanic replaced the control board and harness. They replaced parts AAABL3Z-19E624-B and AAAFLlZ-188518-G. Then in August 2023 I received a recall notice from Ford for the blower motor. This was the first correspondence I had received from Ford that the blower motor had been recalled. I contacted a Ford dealer, Apple Ford Lincoln in Apple Valley, MN, on August 9th and requested reimbursement for the above parts along with a replacement of the blower motor under the recall. I have been calling and emailing the dealer weekly since August 9th and continue to be told the blower motor under the recall has been on backorder for months with no ETA on the part. On the morning of 10/16/2023, I smelled a burning smell in the cabin of the vehicle similar to the smell from June 2023 and the smell was still present after the vehicle sitting for 3 hours after driving. I would appreciate support with this issue.

while operating vehicle on busy interstate bridge going uphill, engine seemed to lose power, check engine light came on along with another warning to read my owners' manual. Throttle response quit working. I was able to get to shoulder and shut off vehicle. Upon restart, vehicle ran normally for a few miles before same happened again. This occurred several more times while I nursed it home on surface streets. Independent repair shop ran code as 'Throttle body".
- 10/09/2023· FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
While driving on the freeway our 2016 Ford Expedition's engine went into "Limp Mode" causing total loss of power. We barely were able to move into the slow lane and place hazard lights on while cars ran up on us slamming on their brakes to avoid a collison with our disabled vehicle. There was less than three feet of shoulder against a concrete barrier for us to stop. The dash showed a large yellow wrench and engine was running extremely rough. After turning engine off and back on we accelerated into on coming traffic to find the nearest exit hoping that the engine would keep running. We were very lucky to not have been killed. When we returned home my son pulled the code "P2112" which is "Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Closed". There is a Technical Service Bullentin #TSB 16-0139 that was put out by Ford for their techs to diagnose and repair the issue. So they are aware this is an ongoing safety issue. NHTSA is aware this is an ongoing safety issue. The dealer wants $590 labor plus $258 for the Throttle Body to replace and diagnose the code we have already pulled and supplied them with the TSB bulletin. I wonder how many accidents and/or lives will it cost for the NHTSA and/or Ford to step up and recall these unsafe throttle bodies that are obviously defective.

WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, MY BRAKE PEDAL LOST RESISTANCE AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. I DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE BACK BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONING. I DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THE 2016 FORD F150 (THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED BECAUSE OF THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER) AND WAS BECOMING A COMMON OCCURRENCE THE 2016 FORD EXPEDITION. IT SEEMS THAT BOTH MODEL SHARE THE SAME PART. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND BOOSTER ASSEMBLIES. THE REPAIR WAS DELAYED ABOUT A WEEK BECAUSE THE "RECALLED" MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER MODEL WAS ORDERED IN ERROR AND THE NEW MODEL WOULD TAKE A FEW DAYS TO GET IN. I FOUND THAT TO BE A STRANGE COMMENT WHEN THERE IS NOT INFORMATION RELATED TO A RECALL FOR THE 2016 FORD EXPEDITION.

Rear camera is intermittently non-operative. Only works approximately 20% of the time. Due to the size & shape of this vehicle, this makes backing up dangerous for persons and property that are difficult to see when backing.

Sudden feel of a misfire putting truck into reverse, definitely caught my attention as vehicle has under 140k miles! Just had new Ford spark plugs and lifetime warrantied coil packs in the last 20 to 25k! it's had at least two if not three oil changes in the last 20k to 30k miles! Put vehicle into drive same felling of a misfire and doesn't take long it flashes the check engine light at me so I turn around to head back home and haven't really made it but around the corner and the car completely stalled out going by the neighbors house lost steering and brakes and noticed a very distinct smell of plastic/electrical burning! I pop the hood in total disgust and can't even see clearly enough to see the issue at the moment! A friend pulled in front my residence as I'm shaking my head and in tears! He points out a cracked and melted number one coil pack! Instantly replaced with nothing was wrong with the previous coil pack that nothing was wrong with but was unsure of the history! I now have a paperweight King Ranch Expedition! I'm not to familiar with this current what looks to fixing to be a recall anyway for what sound like the same overall issue as these 2020 and newer models that the fixing to hit! I have repaired my 02' Impala of a recall before I new it was a recall! Once I received the recall the issue of sudden loss of control of vehicle and engine shut down was already fixed by myself but out of curiosity I took the car in on a scheduled appointment to the GM Chevy dealer nearest me to fix the issue under recall that was already fixed! They placed plastic sleeves overs my keys and said done deal! I explained that that will not fix anything safely or permanently concerning these cars issues! Voiced my concern there at the dealership, with GM and this organization that I hope that no more loss of life would come from those! My current 2 recalls for my vehicle involved in my complaint today is a weeks if not months long wait to get vehicle back on one and no known

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER AND A "WRENCH" INDICATOR APPEARED. WAS ABLE TO NAVIGATE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WRENCH LIGHT INDICATES A POWER TRAIN ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF WHILE CONTACTING HELP. TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND WRENCH INDICATOR GONE. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. UPON SEARCHING THE PROBLEM APPARENTLY THIS HAS OCCURRED TO NUMEROUS FORD EXPEDITION OWNERS. VERY DANGEROUS AS THERE IS NO WARNING AND CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 30 MPH, a loud explosion sound came from the engine compartment and engine oil began to leak from the vehicle. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the turbo line had failed causing the turbo to strike the engine, creating a hole in the engine block. The contact was informed that the engine and turbo needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact received a second recall notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V150000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) advising the contact to contact the dealer for recall repair; however, the dealer informed the contact that they would not complete the recall repair unless the recalled part had failed. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and followed up with the dealer. The manufacturer later informed the contact that the dealer informed them that the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time to complete the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

VEHICLE TOWED TO FLAGSTAFF, AZ NEAREST CITY, HOWEVER IT WAS FRIDAY AFTER HOURS AND THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED UNTIL TUESDAY MORNING DUE TO THE LABOR DAY HOLIDAY. WE WERE STRANDED IN FLAGSTAFF UNTIL 9/4/18, UNABLE TO GET AUTHORIZATION FOR A RENTAL CAR UNTIL IT WAS DETERMINED IF IT WAS COVERED BY A WARRANTY. ULTIMATELY, THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME VEHICLE ON THE INTERNET. WE BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER AND RECALLED IF NECESSARY. PLEASE SEE LETTER BELOW

The vehicle is regularly surging then shifting gears with a loud "Thunk" from the transmission. It has made few scary decelerations that shook all of us in the vehicle. The speedometer will jump then drop and bounce back and forth then go to zero. The information on the left panel that shows MPG goes blank. There seems to be an existing issue that is similar with F-150s but the Ford dealer says it is the same thing from a transmission harness/sensor but not a real issue with the expedition. The airbag light comes on and the check engine light comes on. The check engine light goes away after about 24 hours. It happened 4 times yesterday and 3 times this morning. I can pull over and turn it off and then turn it on again to reboot and it will function until the next failure. I believe this has negatively impacted my transmission. It seems to be worse when it is raining, foggy, or high humidity.

The throttle body failed, and my car lost power as I was turning into traffic on the road outside of my subdivision. My car went from approximately 45-50 miles an hour to no acceleration. My car would only go forward at the speed at which it idles. It was very dangerous to me and to others because it was a sudden power failure. The problem was reproduced by the local Ford dealer. I don't know if the component has been inspected by anyone. The first time it happened, there was an orange wrench on my dash with "See Owner's Manual" under it. This happened at least three times before we took it to our local Ford dealer. The dealership said they couldn't find anything wrong with my car and that I should "drive it till it broke".

The dealer assessed an additional fee for the additional repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. A case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 117,832. This is in reference to Safety Recall 22S56. The recall talks about the possibility of the vehicle catching fire. I received the recall over a year ago and have contacted the dealer several times and they keep saying that a replacement part is on backorder and there's no timeline for when it'll be available. Meanwhile, I feel like my vehicle could potentially catch fire at any time. Are they allowed an unlimited amount of time to resolve the issue? I'm wondering if there's any recourse for me to get it fixed. Also, what if the vehicle catches fire before they get around to fixing it? Are they responsible for replacing the vehicle?

When using the power folding third row option appropriately, the seat got stuck on something and snapped off two of the rear seat female seatbelt connectors. This is a huge safety concern, knowing that these connectors can snap off, when we use them to secure our children.

WE DETECTED A BURNT RUBBER SMELL WHILE DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET (WITH A/C ON). THE A/C SUDDENLY QUIT. WE PULLED OVER TO TURN SUV OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN HOPING A/C WOULD RETURN. A/C DID NOT RETURN, SMOKE BEGAN BILLOWING OUT OF A/C VENTS. STOPPED AT A GAS STATION AND TURNED OFF SUV. THE SMOKE FROM THE VENTS GOT THICKER AND LARGE FLAMES BEGAN COMING OUT UNDERNEATH THE DASH. HUSBAND RAN IN TO GAS STATION AND GOT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. FIRE KEPT RESTARTING (THE PARKING LIGHTS WERE ON THOUGH THE CAR WAS OFF).
