  • SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:PEDALS AND LINKAGESCampaign 18V578000 · 30/08/2018

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, 1500 Crew Cab Special Service, Tahoe Police Pursuit/Special Service, GMC Sierra 2500, and 3500 vehicles. The brake pedal pivot nut may loosen, causing the brake pedal to be loose or inoperative.

Risk: If the brake pedal becomes loose or inoperative, the driver may be unable to stop the vehicle by using the brake pedal. Additionally, a loose pedal may also interfere with the accelerator pedal. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will add adhesive to the nut and reinstall the nut with increased tightness, free of charge. The recall began October 3, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18278. Note: The vehicles in this recall need this additional remedy despite being covered by recall 16V069 for brake pedal loosening.

  • AIR BAGS:FRONTALCampaign 17V437000 · 10/07/2017

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

Risk: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 17287.

  • SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:PEDALS AND LINKAGESCampaign 16V069000 · 05/02/2016

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 heavy duty trucks manufactured October 1, 2013, to February 1, 2016, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicles (PPV) manufactured March 1, 2014, to February 1, 2016, and 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 heavy duty trucks manufactured October 29, 2013, to February 1, 2016. On the affected vehicles, the brake pedal pivot nut may loosen, causing the brake pedal to be loose or inoperative.

Risk: If the brake pedal becomes loose or inoperative, the driver may be unable to stop the vehicle by using the brake pedal. Additionally, a loose pedal may also interfere with the accelerator pedal. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will add adhesive to the brake pedal pivot nut and reinstall with an increased torque, free of charge. The recall began on March 14, 2016. • AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:CURTAIN:INFLATORCampaign 21V504000 · 01/07/2021

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.

Risk: A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Fix: Dealers will replace the left and right side RRAB modules, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 18, 2021. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy is available. Phase I owner notification letters were mailed on May 5, 2022. Phase II owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 31, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. While my wife and two young kids were driving down the road with sThe rear heater element caught fire and shattered the rear passenger side back glass. There was no warning lights, or prior failures with this system. This problem has not been inspected by anyone at this point due to being a holiday weekend.

  • 12/29/2017· POWER TRAINCrash

I PURCHASED A HEAVY LARGE STEEL CABINET WHICH WAS LOADED ONTO MY PICKUP TRUCK. WHEN I ARRIVED AT HOME, I WAS GOING TO LIFT THE CABINET OFF OF MY TRUCK WITH A JOHN DEERE LOADER. I PARKED MY TRUCK ON MY LAWN. I THEN DROVE THE LOADER UP TO THE TRUCK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I RAISED THE BUCKET OF THE LOADER OVER THE CABINET AND CONNECTED IT TO THE CABINET WITH A CHAIN. I RAISED THE BUCKET UP UNTIL THE CABINET WAS ABOUT 4 INCHES OFF THE TRUCK BED. I GOT OFF THE LOADER AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE MY TRUCK FORWARD OUT FROM UNDER THE CABINET. I STARTED TO PULL FORWARD SLOWLY WHEN I NOTICED THE BACK OF THE CABINET SEEM TO TILT SLIGHTLY DOWNWARD. I WAS CONCERNED THE WHEEL ON THE CABINET WOULD GET CAUGHT BETWEEN THE SPACE OF THE BED AND THE TAILGATE. I DECIDED TO GET OUT OF THE TRUCK AND RAISE THE BUCKET A FEW MORE INCHES HIGHER. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AND I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK ( THE PARK DASH LIGHT CAME ON) AND I GOT OUT. I WALKED TOWARD THE LOADER CAB. WHEN I WAS HALFWAY THERE, THE PICKUP TRUCK ROLLED BACKWARD, HITTING THE CABINET WHICH WAS SUSPENDED FROM THE LOADER STOPPING THE TRUCK. THAT CAUSED THE CABINET TO STRIKE THE BACK OF THE TRUCK BED, PUSHING IT INTO THE CAB, BREAKING THE BACK WINDOW AND DENTING THE CAB ROOF. THERE WAS OVER $9000.00 DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK. I HAD A $2000.00 INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE. I HAVE FOUND THAT WHEN I MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER BETWEEN THE " REVERSE " AND " PARK" DETENTS, THERE IS A FLAT SPOT WHERE THE SHIFT LEVER CAN STAY AND A LIGHT WILL INDICATE EITHER "R" OR "P" DEPENDING WHERE IT RESTS ON THAT FLAT SPOT. THIS ONLY HAPPENS BETWEEN "PARK" AND "REVERSE". WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK THE LIGHT INDICATED "PARK" BUT WAS ON THE FLAT SPOT AND HELD IN PARK UNTIL IT SLIPPED BACK TO THE REVERSE DETENT CAUSING THE ACCIDENT. THERE SHOULD BE NO WAY THAT THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER SHOULD BE ABLE TO REST BETWEEN GEARS INDICATING IT IS IN PARK.

  • 12/27/2024· POWER TRAIN

At only 71,000 miles the 6L90 transmission had to be replaced in my Silverado because of slippage in fifth, sixth and heavy metal shaving showing in the pan. I have never plowed with this truck or abused the transmission. I've only towed up to 7,000 lbs which is well within specifications. As I continue to talk with other owners of the 6L90 and various mechanics, it has become evident that this particular transmission has a very high failure rate. Unfortunately the core to the failed transmission has already been returned, but what if something major internally failed that locked up the drivetrain and caused an accident? My mechanic John Portal has replaced several 6L90's with multiple types of failures. The only warning I received from the transmission was an engine light which only appeared after the transmission started to fail.

Had new Western Wideout snowplow (recommended by western) installed by Western dealership on a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd with snow plow prep package. Vehicle's Instrument cluster, HVAS, Radio and other electrical systems cut out while operating snowplow. GM is well aware of this issue which has been discussed and documented per GM Service Bulletin No.: PIT5387C (Feb 2016)- PIT5387P (10/17/2024), as well as GM Upfitter Integration UI Bulletin #124k (11/7/2019). Western states the fix for this issue is for GM to supply and install a wiring harness (per the above GM bulletins) GM dealerships as well as GM consumer assistance hotline state that GM part number 84043394 (fitting 2014-2019 vehicles) referenced to in PIT5387 and other bulletins has been discontinued. Therefore GM can not nor will ever be able to obtain or install this wiring harness in the future. GM Upfitter Integration Bulletin #124K instructs to install a different part number 84288774 VYU Snow Low Jumper harness per the latest Version of GM Service Bulletin PIT5387. "Note: that this jumper harness and installation will be provided (one time) without charge." GM dealerships state PN 84288774 does not appear in their system as a valid GM part. Parts. The official GM parts store at [XXX] , list this part but shows it does not fit this vehicle. Therefore neither GM nor Western is able to provide any actionable solution to this KNOWN safety issue. Western (and other manufactures) still manufacturing, recommending and installing snowplows for this specific vehicle. GM, manufactured, sold, promoted, advertises and continues to recommend snowplows to be installed on these vehicles (with the GM factory snow plow prep option), and continues to issue bulletins instructing GM dealerships how to fix this issue despite being fully aware GM cannot supply these parts. Therefor GM has made it impossible for GM to honor their own warranty that still currently in effect, for a KNOWN SAFTEY ISSUE. • 12/12/2019· STEERING

AROUND 35,000 MILES THE STEERING BECAME VERY SLOPPY. 4-6 INCHES OF PLAY BEFORE RESPONDING. THE DEFECTIVE STEERING BOX ALSO ACTIVATES STABILITRACK WHILE DRIVING ON CLEAR ROAD CONDITIONS JERKING THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT. TOOK THE TRUCK THE WILSON COUNTY CHEVROLET BUIK GMC IN LEBANON TN. THEY PERFORMED SERVICE BULLETIN '#PIT5501C. PROBLEM CAME BACK A FEW DAYS LATER. THEY SAID THE STEERING BOX AND PITMAN ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE TRUCK WHILE IT JERKS ME ALL OVER THE ROAD. GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND FIX THE ISSUE ON HUNDREDS OF TRUCKS AFFECTED BY THIS STEERING ISSUE!!!

  • 12/11/2021· STEERING

Steering wheel has become very sloppy and there is a large “gap” when turning left or right. Truck wanders left/right and hard to keep straight. It used to be very precise. Now a moderate dip will cause a left/right shudder in the steering wheel and no control of steering until it settles out. Had it aligned and dealer said all components were good. Out of warranty, dealer said the tab on problem would help for a period of time at $800, or a new steering box would be a longer but not permanent fix, at $2000 or so. Stated very common with this truck along with needing frequent realignments, all related to new electric steering system.

  • 12/10/2021· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION

Failure of the HMI caused a flickering screen during driving operations with warnings and cautions constantly flashing making it very difficult to concentrate on the road conditions and traffic. Parking the vehicle using the back up camera was also affected making it impossible to see approaching objects from the rear.

ALL OF A SUDDEN AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THERE BECAME BETWEEN 3 AND 31/2 INCHES OF SLACK IN THE STEERING. THE TRUCK SUDDENLY DARTED TO THE SIDE. COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A COLLISION. THE PRIVATE MECHANIC I SPOKE WITH OVER THE PHONE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, AS DID THE DEALERSHIP WE SPOKE WITH. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. SUDDEN SLACK IN THE STEERING BOX. COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A HEAD ON COLLISION! ALL FRONT END COMPONENTS HAVE NO SLACK EXCEPT THE STEERING BOX.

THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE BUT I AM EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH MY AUDIO SYSTEM IN THE 2016 SILVERADO 2500 HIGH COUNTRY TRUCK. THE AUDIO SEEMS TO GO IN AND OUT OF STEREO SOUND AND ALSO SSEMS TO BE CHANGING ITS EQUALIZATION PERIODICALLY. THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE AND RHYME OR REASON WHEN THIS HAPPENS; DOESN'T HAPPEN WHEN I HIT A BUMP, OR STOP SUDDENLY, OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. THE SOUND SYSTEM WILL JUST RANDOMLY CUT IN AND OUT IN THE MANNER DESCRIBED ABOVE. IT IS MILDLY ANNOYING AND IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT THIS COULD BE I'D APPRECIATE THE HEAD'S UP. IT'S BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR MAINTENANCE AND I ASKED THEM TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT WHICH OR COURSE, THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING. I KNOW I'M WHINING BUT WHEN YOU SPEND $51K FOR A VEHICLE YOU WANT EVERYTHING TO WORK ON IT, RIGHT!

LOCK SYSTEM FAILURE- CHILD'S FINGER CAUGHT IN DOOR. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE. WE WERE PREPARING TO GO TO SCHOOL. BOTH FRONT DOORS WERE OPEN, MY DAUGHTER WAS PLACING HER BACKPACK IN FRONT FLOORBOARD FOR SCHOOL. WHILE DOING SO, I REACHED IN AND STARTED THE TRUCK. THE LOCKS AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED. SHE PUSHED THE FRT PASSENGER DOOR TO, BUT CAUGHT THE FISRT JOINT OF HER THUMB IN THE DOOR JAMB. THE DOOR REMAINED IN THE HALF LATCHED POSITION. EVEN AFTER UNLOCKING THE VEHICLE FROM THE INSIDE, WE WERE NOT ABLE TO GET THE LOCK TO PHYSICALLY DISENGAGE AND ALLOW THE DOOR TO OPEN TO FREE HER FINGER. THE ENTIRE TIME SHE WAS SCREAMING, AND OUT OF DESPERATION SHE YANKED HER THUMB OUT. HER ENTIRE THUMB IS SWOLLEN, AND BLACK AND BLUE ON THE END. I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE THIS LOCKING FEATURE ON THE TRUCK- IT IS ENOUGH TO MAKE ME CONSIDER RETURNING THE VEHICLE- AND I HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR 6 MONTHS. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK NEW IN MARCH 2016 FROM FRANKLIN, TN. IT WAS A SERVICE LOANER WITH 4700 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME.

My 2016 Chevy at a stop light started jerking and then just shut off and wouldn’t start again. I had to have it towed and was told at the repair shop that it was the CP4 fuel pump that went. Of course I had them do all the repairs and they found metal shavings all through out the fuel system. I was without my truck for weeks and had to pay ridiculous cost of almost $13,000. With how often this is happening this should all be reimbursed to me and GM needs to step up and take care of it along with NHTSA.

Chevy Duramax trucks, 2011-2016 use a CP4 fuel pump that will eventually fail. The engine shuts off and there is a loss of steering and brakes. This is a major safety issue. I called Chevy GM 1800 222 1020 and was told, " we are aware of the problem, have no remedy, no recall has been issued yet, call back in a month". My daughter has a 2015 that failed when she was hauling expensive horses, the dealer put the same type defective pump back in the truck. Every diesel repair shop, dealer, and GM is aware of this defect. There is a class action law suit C/O JND Seattle WA. 1 866 848 0815 that may reimburse owners that have had a failure, assuming they are still alive. GM needs to recall, and replace these CP4 pumps with a CP3 or whatever they did to correct the issue in 2017 and later engines, prior to failure. Let ne know if I can provide any more information or assistance.

I FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN #14652A REGARDING THE REPLACEMENT OF SUCH SENSOR BUT THE DATES ON THE VEHICLES ONLY STATE 2011-2012. I WANT TO SEE IF THERE IS A NEWER BULLETIN RELEASED WHICH COVERS THE LATER YEARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

THE BIGGER PROBLEM WITH THIS IS SLIPPERY SNOW COVERED ROADS, YOUR APT TO LOSE CONTROL. WHEN YOU DOWN SHIFT TO MANUAL IT SHOULD REMAIN IN THE GEAR YOUR IN,AND YOU PUSH A BUTTON AT YOUR DESCRETION AS NEEDED TO A LOWER GEAR. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THATS THE WAY IT IS,BUT THEY WERE SURPRISED IT DID THAT AS WELL. I FEEL ITS NOT SAFE IT

BRAKE FAILURE ON JUNE 21 2017, CAUSED ACCIDENT SAME ACCIDENT ON NOVEMBER 17 2017 AND AGAIN ON SEPTEMBER 1 2019. I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK IN SHOP TO BE FIXED NUMEROUS TIMES... ABS SENSOR IN FRONT RIGHT WHEEL WAS SUPPOSEDLY BAD. IT DID NOT FIX PROBLEM BC 3 RD ACCIDENT HAPPENED WEEKS AFTER. 9/11/19 GM RELEASED RECALL FOR BREAK FAILURE DUE TO THE VACUUM BOOSTER. MY ISSUE IS EXACTLY WHAT GM HAD JUST ANNOUNCED. CHEVY DEALER AND GM CORPORATE BOTH SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH BRAKES BUT THEY STILL GIVE OUT SLOWING DOWN INTERMITTENTLY. WHY ISNT MY VIN ASSOCIATED WITH THE MOST RECENT RECALL? BECAUSE FOR 3 YEARS NO ONE BELIEVED ME THAT THE BRAKES WERE FAILING.. I LOST MONTHS OF MY WARRANTY AND NOTHING WAS REPAIRED BC THEY SAID THEY WERE IN WORKING CONDITION AND THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUES. ALSO AT HIGH SPEEDS THE TRUCK SHAKES AND/OR VIBRATES, ALSO TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG, I HAVE ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT CAUSE ELECTRONIC SCREEN TO GO OUT, THEY SEEN VIDEO OF IT HAPPENING BUT WONT REPLACE IT UNLESS IT HAPPENS AT DEALERSHIP WHEN I BRING IT. THIS TRUCK HAS ALL ISSUES PERTAINING TO RECALLS BUT NOT ACCORDING TO VIN#. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. ISSUE ARE SPORADIC AND INTERMITTENT WITH NO WARNING. I HAVE RECEIVED TICKETS, POINTS, AND BEING SUED BC OF THIS . LOST OUT ON MONTHS OF WARRANTY BC SERVICE CENTERS WERE TOLD NOT TO WORK ON IT UNTIL GM CORP DID THERE INVESTIGATION WHICH THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG ALSO.... NOW FINALLY THE LATEST RECALL FOR BREAK FAILURE CAME OUT ON 9/6/19 BUT MY VIN IS NOT UNDER IT AND MUST BE BECAUSE THE RECALL IS 100%ACCURATE TO WHAT IM EXPERIENCING WITH THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE PEDAL GETS HARD, OR GOES TO FLOOR INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCE... THIS IS UNSAFE AND DANGEROUS ON THE ROAD.SOMETHJGN NEEDS TO BE DONE

I was driving home from work on a busy road that had road construction and my truck without warning just died as if it ran out of fuel. I had it diagnosed and it’s the MP4 injection pump that went bad. Very common in this year it’s a minimum of$9500. To replace the entire fuel system. It could have caused me to have an accident. And GM is aware of the injection pumps going bad. The MP4 pumps are designed for vehicles in European countries not the USA. Ford and Dodge have class action lawsuits against them for this faulty system.

AT APPROXIMATELY 9,700 MILES THE STEERING IN MY 2016 2500HD CHEVROLET SLIVERADO LTZ SUDDENLY HAD 3-4 INCHES OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THIS MADE THE TRUCK DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE DEALER WAS HELPFUL AND REPLACED THE STEERING BOX AT NO COST. THE TRUCK NOW HAS 51,000 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS PLAY IN THE STEERING GEAR BOX AGAIN. THE DEALER SAID THEY ALREADY PUT A STEERING BOX IN THE TRUCK AND OFFERED TO "HELP" BY ONLY CHARGING ME 1,000 DOLLARS FOR ANOTHER NEW STEERING BOX, DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE PLAY IT HAS AGAIN. I HAVE SEVERAL CONCERNS, FIRST AND FOREMOST IS THE FACT THE TRUCK IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. SECONDLY, THE SPEED AT WHICH THE PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL OCCURS. IN MY CASE, BOTH EVENTS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND THE STEERING WENT FROM NORMAL TO PROBLEMATIC INSTANTLY. I AM BEYOND UNDERSTANDING WHY GM HASN'T PUT OUT A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BE ABLE TO STEER AND STOP YOU VEHICLE. MY OTHER CONCERNS INVOLVE PUTTING A THIRD GEAR BOX IN THE TRUCK AT A COST OF A 1,000 DOLLARS WITH NO GUARANTEE THE THIRD ONE WON'T DO THE SAME THING IN ANOTHER 9,700 TO 41,000 MILES. IT WOULD BE SERIOUSLY NICE TO KNOW, WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT THE POSTED 60 MPH SPEED LIMIT, YOUR TRUCK DOESN'T DECIDE TO ALL THE SUDDEN WONDER OVER INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AS MINE DID. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF SOMEONE WOULD HELP THOSE OF US IN THIS POSITION. GM OBVIOUSLY HAS A PROBLEM THEY DON'T SEEM TO BE ADDRESSING.

MY TRUCK HAS A MAJOR EXHAUST LEAK THAT FLOWS INTO THE CAB OF MY TRUCK. IT HAS A DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE. I NOTICED AFTER I FIRST BOUGHT THE TRUCK, SO I THOUGHT IT WAS NORMAL AND TOLD MY FAMILY MEMBERS IT WAS NORMAL. 6 MONTHS AFTER THE PURCHASE, I NOTICED THAT MY SENSE OF SMELL AND TASTE WAS LACKING. MY DOCTORS HAD NO EXPLANATION ON WHY I HAVE LOST MY ABILITY TO SMELL. I DROVE 3 TIMES IN 2 YEARS TO SEATTLE,WA AND EVERY TIME I ARRIVED I WAS INCAPACITATED. I HAS A SORE THROAT, COUGH, AND DIARRHEA FOR A WEEK. AFTER RETURNING HOME ON THESE TRIPS, THE SAME SICKNESS HAD TAKEN OVER MY BODY. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED AN EGR PART AND CLAIMED THE PART WAS LEAKING AND MY PROBLEM WAS SOLVED ON 9/6/2018. I MADE ONE TRIP OF SIX HUNDRED MILES 1 WEEK AFTER THE REPAIR AND WAS SO SICK AFTERWARDS, I STARTED LOOKING FOR ANSWERS MYSELF I BOUGHT A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR AND IT STARTS BEEPING AT 100 PPM WITHIN 2 MINUTES AFTER STARTING MY TRUCK, AND THE DETECTOR STARTS BEEPING WITH MY WINDOW DOWN. RIGHT NOW I AM WAITING FOR A CALL FROM MY DEALER TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM, MY TRUCK HAS 58,000 MILES, AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE BECAUSE MY NOSE IS STILL BURNING FROM DRIVING 2 MILES ROUND TRIP TO A LOCAL POST OFFICE ON 9/17/2018. I BELIEVE I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AND THE LEAK IS PROGRESSING IMMENSELY. I HAVE ALL THE CO2 AND NOX POISON SYMPTOMS. THERE IS A NOXIOUS SMELL, SINCE CO2 IS ODORLESS, THE SMELL IS NO2 OR NOX. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE DOWNPIPE OFF THE TURBO AND THE FLANGES HOLDING THE PARTS TOGETHER. I WANT SOMEONE TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE DIES AND IT GOES UNNOTICED, IF IT HAS NOT HAPPENED ALREADY. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE DOWNPIPE OFF THE TURBO AND THE FLANGES HOLDING THE PARTS TOGETHER ARE DEFECTIVE. SINCE THE PARTS ARE MADE IN CHINA, I WAS WONDERING HOW THEY COULD BE DEFECTIVE. I DON'T BELIEVE A COMMUNIST COUNTRY WOULD WANT TO HARM AN AMERICAN UNNOTICEABLY.

  • 09/13/2022· FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I purchased 2016 Chevrolet 2500 HD from the dealership. The truck I bought had the CP4 high-pressure fuel injection pump, which comes standard in all GM-manufactured 2011-2016 6.6L Duramax diesel vehicles such as the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, and it is incompatible with U.S. diesel fuel. The pump was originally designed for use in Europe, where the diesel fuel is "dirtier," or more lubricious, than that of the U.S. Because of the heightened pressure that the CP4 exerts in order to increase fuel efficiency, it causes the pump to disintegrate on itself, as the pump's internal metal parts rub against one another generating friction such that metal shavings wear off and are dispersed throughout the high-pressure fuel injection system. This process begins from the very first crank of the Duramax engine. Once these metal shards have sufficiently contaminated the high-pressure fuel injection system, the CP4 fuel pump will suddenly and catastrophically fail — oftentimes while the vehicle is in motion — and become unable to restart. I’m now looking at a $11,000 repair bill. GM knowingly sold a truck with defective parts.

Loose steering causes difficulty maintaining lane and constant steering input to attempt to go straight. Steering wheel can be off the the left or right while going straight. Safety to passengers and other drivers on the road at risk due to inability to maintain intended course of travel. Two different Chevrolet dealers have had vehicle in for service, both completing an alignment and stating issue was corrected. Nut on steering box was also tightened per previous TSB. Issue persists. No warning lamps nor messages.
