  • 12/29/2023· ENGINE

I have a 15 Hyundai Tucson that has been shutting off on me while driving on a highway going between 55 mph to 70 mph. Engine went into limp mode, CEL is on and flashing. Knocking noise heard from engine and consuming oil. Diagnosed with P1326 code. Brought to local Hyundai dealership. Even though road test stated normal operation, technician notes that vehicle DID stall, shut off, on return to the shop. No codes. Was told Hyundai would not pay for man hours to look into further. So allowed me to drive off their lot. Upon re-search I found, with NO help from local Hyundai or the dealership I purchased vehicle from, that my VIN number is associated with the E2 class action settlement that just went live May 2023, that my engine is indeed infected, like a cough before the cold, and has the potential of starting on fire/failure. Now I purchase this vehicle in 08/2023 with no disclosure of this very concerning problem. I am told by Hyundai USA that there is a paper trail that every affected VIN in the settlement has been notified, by law, to owners of affected VIN’s, and still not disclosed. I reached out to Hyundai USA at the national level, was given a case manager, who sent my case to the buyback/legal department. My case manager reached out and stated that my case has been denied due to age and mileage of vehicle (even though automatically extended to 15yr/150,000 miles) I asked what my next steps should be as my vehicle is still shutting off on me while driving and was told to have a different Hyundai dealership diagnose vehicle, but to not tell them all of the information of it already going to one Hyundai dealership. I was told if I hear a noise from the engine that I should pull off to the side of the road and call for a tow truck. I said so Hyundai USA feels good allowing this vehicle to be operated on highways knowing the symptoms I am experiencing. They obviously do not care for my safety let alone passenger safety, nor other motorist on roads.

THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEH. IN 2016, WITH 16,000 + OR - MILES ON THE ODO. WHEN I TURN OFF THE "ECO" MODE, THE PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS, THOUGH NOT AS OFTEN. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY FRIDAY 11/23/2018 AT ABOUT 3:30 PM. THE NEXT DAY, SAT, 11/24/2018 ABOUT 12:45, A BOY BANGED ON THE FRONT DOOR OF THE HOUSE AND TOLD WIFE THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. SHE CAME AND GOT ME FROM THE BACK YARD AND I RAN AROUND TO THE DRIVEWAY. I SEEN FLAMES AROUND THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR QUARTER, THE WHEEL WELL,AND THE GAS CAP. I GRABBED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER FROM THE GARAGE AND SPRAYED IT AT THE GAS CAP AREA. THE WIFE SAID THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ON THEIR WAY. I USED THE EXTINGUISHER AND THE WIFE BROUGHT ME ANOTHER ONE. I USED THEM TO TRY AND KEEP THE GAS CAP COOL. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND I MOVED MY TRUCK FROM PARKED NEXT TO THE TUCSON TO ACROSS THE STREET AND OUT OF THE WAY OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN STARTED OR EVEN UNLOCKED SINCE IT WAS PARKED THE DAY BEFORE.

  • 12/01/2021· ENGINE

My engine ceased while driving, leaving me stranded on the road. I had it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer that was supposed to do any warranty repairs. Prior to this, I was needing to replace the oil, about 1 quart per week. I did my routine service maintenance and they tried replacing a seal or gasket but that did not stop the problem from reoccurring. When the car was brought to the dealer, the oil was low but there still was some oil in the engine. My engine light never came on to warn me about any issues. The car was sluggish and sputter which was when I would check the oil and put more oil in. I know there was a lawsuit which was settled with engine problems for the same make, year and model as mine but I have not received any recall notice for engine problems for my vehicle.

  • 11/22/2015· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

WITH THE 2015 HYUNDAI TUCSON, WITHIN 12 HOURS OF OWNING THE CAR AND DRIVING IT OFF THE DEALERSHIP LOT, WE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE KEY INDICATOR BLINKING WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR AND CAR WOULD NOT START AT WORK. IT STARTED FINE AT HOME AN MOSTLY ANYWHERE ELSE. ONLY BY PRESSING THE FOB ITSELF ON PUSH BUTTON START, DID CAR START AT WORK PARKING LOT. IF FOB NOT PRESSED ONTO PUSH BUTTON, WOULD NOT START. DEALERSHIP REPLACED KEY FOB AND BATTERIES, DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. SERVICE DEPARTMENT MEMBER ACCOMPANIED US TO PARKING LOT, EXPERIENCED SAME ISSUE IN WORK PARKING LOT. WITH ASSISTANCE FROM SECURITY GUARDS AT WORK, REALIZED THIS ISSUE ONLY OCCURRED WHEN PARKING NEXT TO A SOLAR PANEL ON A SUNNY DAY AT WORK PARKING LOT. TO COMPENSATE FOR ISSUE NOW, CAR IS PARKED FARTHER AWAY FROM OFFICE BUILDING AS IT WAS DISCOVERED SOLAR PANELS ON LIGHT POLE INTERFERED WITH ANTENNA FOR KEY. SERVICE DEPT MEMBER FROM HYUNDAI SAID THEY BELIEVE THEY SAW AN EMAIL/SERVICE BULLETIN REFERENCING SUCH AN ISSUE, AND DID NOT SUGGEST ANY REMEDIATION EXCEPT TP PARK AWAY FROM THE LIGHT POLE. OUR WORKAROUND HAS BEEN TO PARK AWAY FROM SOLAR PANEL LIGHT POLES OR COVER THE SENSOR ON THE TOP OF THE DASHBOARD. THIS HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP'S SOLUTION WAS TO SEND AN EMAIL WITH THE HYUNDAI CORPORATE PHONE NUMBER FOR FURTHER ESCALATION. THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN FOR US AS MORE HOUSES AND COMPANIES ARE ERECTING SOLAR PANELS, AND NOW WILL WE HAVE TO PICK WHERE WE PARK OUR TUCSON BASED ON IF A SOLAR PANEL IS NEARBY. IF YOU LIVE NEAR SOLAR PANELS, DON'T BUY A TUCSON WITH A PUSH BUTTON STAR.

ON NOV. 4 2020 AT 2PM, WHILE DRIVING ON F8 EAST FREEWAY ENTERING THE TURN ONTO CA125, MY 2015 HYUNDAI TUCSON'S ENGINE BLEW WITHOUT WARNING. THE DASH LIGHTS LIT AS THE CAR LOST POWER THE HOOD BLEW OPEN AND SHUT AND MY 31YR OLD DAUGHTER WAS FORCED TO ALLOW THE CAR TO GLIDE TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. IN A DANGEROUS SPOT. .SHE COULD NOT SEE IN FRONT OF THE CAR UNTIL THE HOOD FELL BACK DOWN. THE DANGER IS THE FACT THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS WARNINGS, THE HOOD BLEW UP AND THE CAR HAD STOPPED WHERE THERE WAS NOT SUFFICIENT SPACE FOR OTHER CARS TO PASS WITHOUT TAPPING MY SIDE MIRROR AND A HUGE TRAIL OF OIL LEFT BEHIND. SHE GOT OVER TO THE PASSENGER SEAT QUICKLY AND ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOWS SINCE IT WAS HOT OUT. FIRST SHE CALLED EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW THE CAR OFF THE FREEWAY. THEY TOOK OVER 2 HRS TO ARRIVE .WHILE MANY CARS DROVE QUICKLY BY BARELY MISSING MY CAR. SHE CALLED ME NEXT IN FEAR OF HER LIFE AND THEN CALLED HER DAD AND HE STAYED ON THE PHONE WITH HER UNTIL THE TOW ARRIVED .I ONLY HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 1 YEAR. I HAD AN OIL CHANGE ON JUNE 23, 2020 FROM REG OIL TO A SYNTHETIC BLEND. UPON CALLING HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE IT WAS SUGGESTED TO TOW THE CAR TO THE NEAREST DEALER FOR INVESTIGATION TO SEE IF ITS COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE ENGINE IS SEVERELY DAMAGED THE BEARINGS WERE DESTROYED AND A ROD THROWN. THE OIL FILTER WAS BLOWN OFF. MY CAR HAD NO PREVIOUS LEAKS. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION AGAINST HYUNDAI/KIA FOR MY CARS YEAR BUT WITH THETA 1 AND !! ENGINES. MINE IS A GASOLINE DIRECT ENGINE THAT ALSO HAS PROBLEMS PER CAR COMPLAINTS.COM. WHAT ALSO MAKES THIS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS IS THAT I USE THIS CAR FREQUENTLY TO TRANSPORT MY 11YR OLD DISABLED GRANDSON TO RADY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL APPTS SINCE HE HAS CEREBRAL PALSY AND POOR HEAD AND NECK CONTROL. SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD HAVE NOT ONLY SNAPPED HIS NECK BUT ALSO CAUSE MASSIVE FATALITIES ON THE FREEWAY..

Bought vehicle from dealership and 20 days later my car shut off as I was driving. Spoke to dealer they had me bring to her mechanic that she use since it was going to be in the shop dealer agreed to put new pads and rotors on. Picked up vehicle, ask them about the problem. They told me that it was all good and that they just cleaned up the mass air sensor that was dirty. Brought vehicle home. Mid of Oct driving down highway/55 mph vehicle shut off again on me this time it went into limp mode. Call dealership back and she wanted me to drive it to shop. I stated I’d did not feel comfortable driving it 45 miles in limp mode. Local shop Looked at it discussed with dealership. I finally spoke to the shop they gave me the information of the codes. Dealership texted me not phone call told me all about the code It was pulling and recommended that I take it to a Hyundai dealership as there is a service campaign on the vehicle. Dealership sent bank a copy of the service campaign. It states as required by federal law dealers must not place vehicle into customers use until campaign and all open recalls performed on vehicle. Campaign states it is a safety action. Campaign also states Q&A on the campaign. Hyundai strongly encourages customers to get this fixed. Also states what will happen if the wear in the engine bearings are malfunctioning. Also states that dealers will inspect and if necessary replace the engine. this is the second time vehicle has shut off while I was driving on Wisconsin highways. I have informed dealership that it was the second time that it has done this and that it was unsafe. Then I find out that the first shop I took it to that works with the dealership put in a used transmission a new Cadillac converter days before my purchase, and neither in person prior to signing purchase agreement nor on the Wisconsin buyers guide does it show that this dealership replaced anything into this car. I have only driven 1400 miles. I spoke with dealer, she won’t help!

I called Wayne Mazda on 9/7/22 to make an appointment to fix this brake recall and to have my car serviced. I was given an appointment for January 17, 2023, which is 4 months later. I called several times to try and get a current appointment and was denied each time, so I contacted Hyundai and filed a complaint. My case number is 20485596. Also my dashboard light showing low tire pressure stays on, even though AAA came and filled the tires. We are seniors and my husband is in a wheelchair, and I feel 4 months is an unreasonable length of time to wait for a brake (potential fire) recall and service. Any help you can provide with this complaint would be appreciated.

THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR WHICH FOLLOWED UNDER THE CAMPAIGN 958 WHICH WAS UNKNOWN TO ME UNTIL MY CAR ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING ON I-5 HIGHWAY. DUE TO THE FACT I DID NOT KNOW OF THE RECALL WHEN THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED I HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO THE CLOSEST AUTO SHOP. THEY WERE UNSURE OF WHAT CAUSED THE SEIZE AND TRIED TO REPLACE THE STARTER (COST AROUND $340). THE AUTO SHOP GOT IT TO TURN ON BUT THEN HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE AND SUGGESTED IF I CALLED HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. I CALLED AND GOT THE CONFIRMATION THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND GOT IT TOWED TO THEIR PARKING LOT(AROUND $98). I BELIEVE IT WAS A MONDAY WHEN IT MADE IT TO THE PARKING LOT AND SAID THE TECHS WOULD HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT AND SEND UP AN APPROVAL IF THE ENGINE IS COVERED AND TILL THE CONFIRMATION CAME THROUGH I WOULD HAVE TO GET A RENTAL OUT OF POCKET. SO FROM MONDAY TO THURSDAY I HAD TO GET A RENTAL THROUGH ENTERPRISE(AROUND $350) BECAUSE ON THURSDAY I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP STATING THAT I WAS APPROVED AND COULD GET ONE OF THE DEALERSHIP RENTALS TILL THE REPAIRS WERE MADE WHICH RESULTED IN MY ENTIRE ENGINE BEING REPLACED. I HAD THEIR RENTAL I BELIEVE FROM FRIDAY TO THE NEXT THURSDAY AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO PICK MY CAR UP. AFTER ALL WAS SAID AND DONE I SUBMITTED TO THE REIMBURSEMENT BRANCH ALL THE EXPENSES I PAID WITH THE RECEIPTS THAT WAS EARLY JULY WHEN I GOT CONFIRMATION THAT IT WAS RECEIVED. SINCE THEN I HAVE REACHED OUT NUMEROUS TIMES TRYING TO GET AN UPDATE FOR HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE AND IF I COULD SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR OR EVEN HAVE THE PERSON WORKING ON MY CASE REMOVED TO SOMEBODY ELSE TO MAKE THINGS WORK FASTER. I WAS TOLD THEY DON'T HAVE SUPERVISORS AND THAT MY CLAIM IS WITH HIGHER MANAGEMENT FOR APPROVAL AND THAT IT HAS BEEN THERE SINCE THE 6TH OF AUGUST.

--->While I was driving my hyundai tucson engine seized (-engine model (lm) 2.4l theta ii--> 63,664 miles). Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection. ---> As I said before I was driving in a express way when the incident happened. My car just stopped working out of a sudden and I had to take the side road by applying a much force effort from myself not to get hit by several vehicles behind. When I finally managed to step aside, I sensed some sort of smoke smell. And also all warning lights from car dashboard came up with no prior lamp alerts before this incident. ---> I took the vehicle to the nearest repair shop called Sam's certified auto repair. And there it was diagnosed that the vehicle engine was seized. So i inmediately called the dealer and the asked me to tow my SUV. There they diagnosed the vehicle with a seized engine too. From there on I found out that these vehicle i bought have a recall and that the this engine model has a major malfunctioning manufacture issues. Then I tried to get an authorization approval for a new engine but it was denied because they stated that I have a savage title.

THIS RESULTED IN BEING T-BONED. VIN PHOTO INCLUDED I HAVE MORE PHOTOS AVAILABLE IF NEEDED

On date of incident, I had accelerated to enter onto the Major Deegan Expressway in Bronx,NY and made my way into the left lane when I felt the vehicle hesitate a second and downshifted in speed with some of the dashboard lights turning on. I was able to safely get to the emergency shoulder where the vehicle stopped and would not start again thought it had power. I was towed off the highway some hours later. The vehicle was towed to Central Avenue Hyundai in Hartsdale,NY for service on September 7, 2021 under my Hyundai warranty plan. A few days later I was advised by Ryan of the service area that the engine was the problem and needed to be replaced. Currently awaiting approval from warranty for that work to take place.

AT TIMES ON THE ROAD THE CAR LOOSE POWER AND IN A HIGHWAY THAT YOU CAN GO 70 I CAN ONLY GO PROBABLY 45MPH BECAUSE IT SEEMS AS IT CAN NOT GO OVER THAT MILEAGE. I HAVE TO TRY HARD TO GO EVEN 55MPH. IT HAPPENED SINCE WHILE AGO AND I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX. I TOOK TO THE DEALER POTAMKIN IN MANHATTAN, NY WHERE I PURCHASED AND THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE "ECONOMIC" BUTTON. A SEPARATE MECHANIC SAID IT IS INDEED NOT NORMAL. ALSO THE AIR CONDITIONING BROKE 7/2017 AND I HAD TO PAY TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. ALL BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO MISS WORK TO FILE COMPLAINT, ETC. I HAVE PAPERWORK FOR ALL THIS.

Twice in the last nine months (roughly December 14, 2020 at 67,000 miles & 9/7/21 at 84,300 miles) I have been left stranded on the side of the highway due to what two different Hyundai dealerships call "complete engine failure", which requires the replacement of the entire engine. Ultimately, when I asked what a "complete engine failure" entailed, the dealerships both told me there were metal flakes throughout my engine and that the engine had to be replaced. Both times the symptoms were as follows: loss of acceleration and a horrible ticking noise. The gas pedal is pushed to the floor and the car will not move forward. "Pop" or "Knock" and the engine starts smoking. No check engine light. No check oil pressure light. This is all within about 2 minutes. Moving from 65mph to 0 in a matter of 90 seconds without braking, when you have a semi truck behind you is terrifying. You put your hazards on immediately, pull over as soon as possible, and pray that nobody hits you. You try to stop and your brakes don't seem to be doing their job but you are finally able to stop. Once you've pulled over and the car stops smoking, you pop the hood. Immediately you notice the dipstick for the oil is about halfway out of the engine and oil has exploded everywhere under the hood. I purchased the car 14 months ago and so far, four of those months it has been undriveable due to complete engine failure, requiring replacement and fighting with Hyundai to do the right thing and repair it, which they refuse to do. Even when there is an active campaign (Campaign 966) to update the software to trigger a warning light. The campaign was issued 3/30/21 & I just received notification via first class presorted mail to have the software updated on 9/11/21. They say they won't make the repairs because it is out of warranty. I call lies. This is a direct result of failing to notify me in a timely manner to get the software update that would have at least supposedly triggered a warning light.

I PURCHASED THIS CAR NOVEMBER 8 2014 WITH 99 MILES ON IT. WE'VE HAD SEVERE ISSUES WITH IT IN THE LAST YEAR. WE'VE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY'VE BEEN IN COMMUNICATION WITH HYUNDAI IN ORDER TO FIX IT. THERE WAS NO SOLUTIONS, JUST "TRY THIS & SEE IF IT WORKS." IN JULY 2016 I STARTED HAVING MEDICAL ISSUES, WE'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE NOT WANTING TO START. AT FIRST IT WASN'T WANTING TO START & THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT FOR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, THEY CLAIMED THAT WAS THE ISSUE. SO THAT RECALL WAS PREFORMED AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. LOW AND BEHOLD THE ISSUE WAS NOT CORRECTED, THE CAR STILL HAD EPISODES WHERE IT WOULD NOT START. THE ISSUE WAS NOT SOMETHING THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD RE-CREATE. SECOND TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY REPLACED THE INHIBITOR SWITCH, AND THAT ALSO HAS NOT WORKED. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN BUT THE CODE IS COMING BACK AS THE PURGE VALVE. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS NO POWER AND FEELS AS IF THE MOTOR COULD DIE AT ANY SECOND. I TRAVEL AWAY ABOUT TWICE A MONTH FOR VARIOUS SPECIALIST DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS. MY VEHICLE HAS LEFT ME STRANDED THERE SEVERAL TIMES. I NO LONGER FEEL MY VEHICLE IS SAFE OR DEPENDABLE FOR MYSELF OR ANY OF MY 3 CHILDREN TO BE TRANSPORTED IN IT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE HYUNDAI COMPANY DIRECTLY BUT NO RESPONSE FROM THEM AS OF YET. FOR A 2015 MODEL VEHICLE THIS MAY ISSUES IS RIDICULOUS!! MY HUSBAND AND I ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER HYUNDAI VEHICLE!

I have been receiving important safety recall notices from Hyundai Motor America since February stating they are preparing a remedy. The ABS modules could malfunction and result in an engine fire while I am driving the vehicle or it is parked. This is very concerning. Each time I have my car serviced I ask Hyundai service dept. to address the recall and I am told the part is not available.
