- STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEMCampaign 19V632000 · 29/08/2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, 2015-2016 Ford Edge, and 2016 Lincoln MKX vehicles originally sold, or currently registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.
Risk: If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist, requiring a greater steering effort, especially at lower speeds, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear motor bolts and apply a wax sealer. If any of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began October 18, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S26.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured February 3, 2012, to March 20, 2015, and 2015 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 26, 2015, to February 28, 2015, and originally sold, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, snow or water containing road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.
Risk: If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist. Loss of power steering assist would require a higher steering effort, especially at lower speeds, which may increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will apply sealer and replace the steering gear motor bolts as required. If one or more of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on June 24, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S14.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 27, 2013, to October 31, 2014, 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid vehicles manufactured February 24, 2014, to October 31, 2014, and 2015 Ford Fusion Energi vehicles manufactured July 14, 2014, to October 31, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the key may be able to be removed even while the transmission is not in Park. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."

I have lost power steering in the vehicle. The dash is popping up Service Advance Trac and Hill assist unavailable. I was looking into sensors and rack and pinion when I seen a recall, 19S26, which was listed for 2013-2016 ford fusions and Lincolns, but the recall isn’t specific to my VIN. As of now, the dealership of course won’t fix what is an expensive repair, although it does appear that my car should be included. The information cited salt corrosion in winter as a contributor. It is now late December in Northeast Ohio.

IF I CRANK THE CAR SOON AFTER CUTTING IT OFF, (WHILE IT'S STILL WARM) ENGINE SPUTTERS THEN QUITS, AS IF IT ISN'T GETTING ENOUGH FUEL. SO WHEN GETTING GAS, I HAVE TO HOLD DOWN THE GAS PEDAL OR ENGINE QUITS. AS SOON AS I START PUMPING, THE ENGINE STARTS CHOKING. I CAN'T TURN OFF THE IGNITION WHILE PUMPING GAS BECAUSE IT WON'T STAY CRANKED ONCE I TRY TO DRIVE AWAY UNLESS I REV THE RPM'S UP REALLY HIGH FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. I'VE HAD IT LOOKED AT SEVERAL TIMES AND NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR. AND NOW WHITE SMOKE BILLOWS OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE WHEN IT'S CRANKED. SECOND PROBLEM....ELECTRICAL. SOME OF THE STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS, SUCH AS CRUISE AND HANDS-FREE CALLING STOP WORKING OVER TIME. THIRD PROBLEM.... FRONT CV JOINTS WEAR OUT WAY TOO SOON. I HEARD OF A RECALL ON THE NEWS A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO FOR MY CAR THAT SOUNDED LIKE MY ENGINE ISSUE, BUT NOW I CAN'T LOCATE THE RECALL ANYWHERE. THEY EVEN TOOK IT OFF OF THE NEWS CHANNEL'S WEBSITE. DURING THE BROADCAST, THEY SAID THE RECALL WOULD BEGIN DECEMBER 10TH. WHAT HAPPENED??? DID FORD CHANGE ITS MIND? SURE WOULD HELP ME OUT! Issue: Some 2014-2019 Fusion vehicles built on or before 10-Jun-2019 and 2017-2019 Escape vehicles built on or before 08-Apr-2019 equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and/or runs rough condition with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator light (MIL) with only diagnostic trouble codes (DICs) P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0217, P1285 and/or P1299 stored in powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to coolant intrusion into the cylinder. To resolve the condition, replace the short block and head gasket.

The Car is making a sloshing sound in the engine, runs hot and will lose power due to overheating. This happen to me, forcing me to exit off the interstate (thank goodness I was near an exit). The check engine light also came on. Once the car cooled down (approx 45min) I was able to street drive home and have never been able to drive the car since. The code the car displayed once checked was P302/P1299. After looking online discovering a manufacturing defect from Ford causing coolant intrusion with this vehicles engine, I then got the vehicle towed to the dealership thinking the TSB (technical service bulletin) would cover the repairs needed (new engine long block) but it does not per Ford. The dealer gave me an invoice for the repair of over $8,500. The engine (1.5L, 2.0L) has several TSB's because for this issue from Ford but NO recalls to replace the engine. There are multiple years and models affected (2014-2019, Fusion, Edge, MKZ). I currently have a car that I can't drive and can't get any help from Ford to resolve the manufacturing defect. I hope you all can provide some help by encouraging Ford to recall the engines.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET MY CAR HAD A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, WITH MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS AND ALARMS GOING OFF. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF THIS FAILURE PRIOR AS THE CAR WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. ASSOCIATED WITH THIS LOSS OF POWER WAS A LOSS OF STEERING AND A LOSS OF POWER ASSIST BRAKING, WHICH RESULTED IN THE CAR CAME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. ONCE IN PARK IT WOULD NOT ALLOW CHANGING GEARS. A TOW TRUCK REQUIRED THE USE OF TIRE DOLLY'S TO LOAD THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A CAUSE, AND USED THE ANALOGY THAT THE CAR HAD AN "ELECTRICAL SEIZURE," WHICH I INTERPRET AS A CATASTROPHIC ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE. THEY WERE ABLE TO MAKE THE CAR OPERABLE BY REBOOTING, AND REINSTALLING SOFTWARE, TO THE CAR'S COMPUTER. *TR

I JUST PURCHASED A 2015 FORD FUSION AND LIKE IT SO FAR EXCEPT THAT ABOUT 1 WEEK AFTER THE PURCHASE; I GOT CAUGHT IN A HARD RAIN. I FOUND THAT THE WIPERS, AT THE HIGHEST SPEED, DO NOT CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD FAST ENOUGH FOR CLEAR VISIBILITY. THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 45, I SLOWED DOWN TO 25 OR LESS. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER, THEY HAD THEIR TECHNICIAN LOOK AT IT AND I WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM, THEY ALSO COMPARED THEM TO ANOTHER FUSION ON THE PREMISES AND THE SPEED OF THE WIPERS WERE SIMILAR. I AM HOPING FOR A RECALL SOON, BEFORE ACCIDENTS HAPPEN AND PEOPLE GET HURT. I PERSONALLY WILL NOT DRIVE IN THE RAIN IF AT ALL POSSIBLE; I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FEAR DRIVING A NEW CAR BECAUSE OF RAIN. *TR

The transmission shift bushing fell off and my gear shift is stuck in park while the transmission indicator is registering as neutral. This was a recall for many Ford Fusion models but apparently not mine, although it is certainly the same issue the other models were experiencing. The bushing lubricant/bushing appears to have worn down over time resulting in this issue.

FILLED UP CAR W/ GAS, CAR SPUTTERED LIKE IT WAS NOT GETTING GAS. CAR SHUT OFF BUT POWER STAYED ON. TRIED TO START CAR AGAIN, & IT SPUTTERED AGAIN. I THEN PUSHED ON ACCELERATOR TO GIVE GAS, AND CAR SPUTTERED AS I LET OFF, THEN DIED, BUT STILL HAD POWER. STARTED CAR FOR 3RD TIME, AND IT CONTINUED TO SPUTTER, I PUSHED ON ACCELERATOR, AND PUT IN DRIVE, AND AS I DROVE ABOUT 20 METERS, THE CAR SEEMED TO STILL SPUTTER. ONCE I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, AND GET UP TO 30 TO 40 MPH, THE CAR RAN FINE. CAR STARTED FINE THE NEXT FEW HOURS, BUT THEN IN THE EVENING IT DID IT AGAIN. I HAD TO PUT HAZARDS ON DUE TO BEING ON A MAIN ROAD AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACELLERATE AND STARTED SPUTTERING AGAIN. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO HAS CAME ON DURING THIS PROCESS. I HAVE TAKEN INTO AUTO SHOP AND IT READS THAT FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR NEEDS REPLACED: CODE P0087 FUEL RAIL/SYSTEM PRESSURE - TOO LOW P2196 02 SENSOR SIGNAL STUCK RICH BANK 1 SENSOR 1 P1450 UNABLE TO BLEED UP FUEL TANK VACUUM. WITH THE VEHICLE BEING WELL MAINTAINED AND BEING LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD, I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN IN CONSIDERATION DUE TO BEING VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO NOT KNOWING WHEN THE SPUTTERING OF THE CAR WILL HAPPEN.

ON JUNE 9TH 2019 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON MY 2015 FUSION WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 10TH FOR A OIL CHANGE AND NOTIFIED THEM THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THEY PERFORMED THE 'WORKS' SERVICE AND TOLD ME THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON. THE LIGHT WAS ON WHEN I PULLED IN THE PARKING LOT SO IT IS MY BELIEF THEY CLEARED THE CODE WITHOUT PERFORMING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. JUNE 29 THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. JUNE 30 I STOP AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE THAT DOES A FREE DIAGNOSTIC. THE RESULTS WERE MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 2. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP JULY 1ST AND PRESENTED THEM WITH THE INFORMATION FROM THE AUTO PARTS STORE. THEY CONFIRMED THE MISFIRE AND REPLACED THE COIL PACK AND THE SPARK PLUG. ON JULY 3 AFTER DRIVING 100+ HIGHWAY MILES I PARKED THE CAR AND SEVERAL HOURS LATER WHEN I RETURNED THE CAR STALLED WHEN I STARTED IT. IT TOOK 3 ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE CAR STARTED. THE ENGINE WAS SPUTTERING AND THE LIGHT CAME ON BRIEFLY. JULY 12TH, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE. THE CAR CONTINUED TO DRIVE NORMALLY. I PARKED THE CAR AT MY HOME. JULY 15TH STARTED THE CAR I COULD HEAR THE SOUND OF WATER RUSHING THROUGH THE DASH. I DROVE THE CAR 3 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE TAILPIPE. I LEFT IT FOR A DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION. THE FOLLOWING WEEK THE DEALERSHIP CALLS TO TELL ME THE CAR NEEDS EXTENSIVE ENGINE REPAIRS HEADS, GASKETS, ETC. AUGUST COMES AND THE DEALERSHIP STILL HAS MY CAR. A FEW WEEKS LATER I'M TOLD THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER AND THERE IS NO EXPECTED ARRIVAL DATE. OCT 30 ALL PARTS ARE IN AND THE REPAIRS START. THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED AND THE ENGINE FAILED AT THE DEALERSHIP. I'M TOLD ON NOV 7 THEY ARE ORDERING A NEW ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS INSTALLED AND REPAIRS WERE COMPLETE ON NOV 15TH, MORE THAN 4 MONTHS LATER! THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!!

1. Front passenger brake hose split. 2. While driving the brake hose made an audible pop sound and fluid was released. Had I been driving at a high rate of speed (on an interstate) I could have created a multi-vehicle crash, potentially killing other drivers and, or myself. 3. I have a photo of the split hose. 4. I’ve inspected the issue myself and have photo evidence. It was not difficult to find the malfunctioned part. 5. No warning lamps or notices of failure. I’ve owned several cars, some much older than this current ford fusion and never had this issue with the brake hose. This could have been disastrous. I learned today that NHTSA opened a query into this potential issue in August 2022 and am recommending this be continued or reopened for investigation. This is not something to mess with, brake failure can be lethal.
