I TRIED TO REPORT THIS TO FORD BUT THERE IS NO LUCK, AND FORD IGNORED ME. THE ISSUE IS NOT FROM THE BACK DOOR OR BACK OF THE VEHICLE, IT'S ACTUALLY FROM THE FRONT. THERE IS TWO ISSUES ACTUALLY WHO CAUSING THIS, ONE IS THE HOOD RUBBER THAT LOCATED NEAR TO FRESH AIR INTAKE, I FILLED A SILICON ALL OVER UNDERNEATH THE RUBBER AND THE ISSUE ALMOST GONE 92%, A ALSO COVERED THE FRESH AIR INTAKE WITH DUCT TAPE AND IT'S COMPLETELY GONE, BUT THE DUCT TAPE IS NOT THE SOLUTION. THE OTHER ISSUE IS THERE IS A LEAK FROM THE ENGINE SIDE WHICH CAUSING THE EXHAUST TO FILL THE ENGINE BAY AND THE SMELL FINDS A WAY TO LEAK INSIDE CABIN THROUGH FRESH AIR INTAKE FROM THE FRONT. SINCE A ALOT OF FORD EXPLORERS HAS BEEN REPORTED THEY HAVE A CRACKED MANIFOLD THIS EXPLAIN WHY THIS HAPPENING. MY CAR HAS PROJECTION HEADLIGHTS. ON A DARK ROAD, IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THERE IS A BLACK CURTAIN OVER THE TOP HALF OF MY WINDSHIELD. ROAD VISIBILITY IS LIMITED BY THIS, THIS WOULD BE THE CUT OFF LINE WHERE BELOW THE LINE THERE IS LIGHT AND ABOVE IT IS TOTAL DARKNESS. ON BACK ROADS WHERE THERE ARE NO STREET LIGHTS, THIS IS A HORRIBLE BLIND SPOT THAT IS WORSENED BY GOING DOWN HILLS AND AROUND CURVES. GOING DOWN A SLOPE CAUSES THE PROJECTION TO BE SHORTENED TO IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. IF THERE WERE PEDESTRIANS OR ANIMALS BEYOND THIS AREA, THEY WOULD BE INVISIBLE. DRIVING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD MAKE THE CUT OFF LINE BOUNCE AROUND, QUICKLY BECOMING ANNOYING AS WELL AS DANGEROUS. ANYTHING ABOVE THIS CUT OFF LINE IS INVISIBLE, SUCH AS ROAD SIGNS. ON A PERFECTLY STRAIGHT AND LEVEL ROAD THE LIGHTS ARE BEARABLE. *TR

2015 FORD EXPLORER WITH CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE THE CABIN OF OUR VEHICLE MAKING US VERY SICK FOR 2 1/2 YEARS. FORD DEALERSHIP (STERLING FORD OPELOUSAS, LA) HAS BEEN TELLING US ALL OF THAT TIME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR VEHICLE. WE HAD A SMOKE TEST PERFORMED ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM OF OUR VEHICLE AND FOUND 3 EXHAUST LEAKS THAT ARE RELEASING EXHAUST FUMES THAT CONTAIN CARBON MONOXIDE. WE HAVE PROOF! WE ALSO HAVE PROOF OF THE CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE OF OUR VEHICLE! SO FORD OBVIOUSLY HAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS ON OUR VEHICLE. ALL OF THIS CARBON MONOXIDE IS THEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE WITH ALL OF THE OVER 80 ENTRY POINTS THAT HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED. PLEASE PUT A PORTABLE HAND HELD CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR IN YOUR VEHICLE, NOT A HOME DETECTOR! THESE HOME DETECTORS DO NOT REGISTER THE CARBON MONOXIDE IMMEDIATELY. FORD NEEDS TO HAVE TO BUYBACK ALL OF THESE ROLLING GAS CHAMBERS FOR A FULL REFUND TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. THIS IS FRAUD WHAT FORD IS DOING. THE FORD EXECUTIVES THAT ARE MAKING STATEMENTS THAT THESE VEHICLES ARE SAFE TO DRIVE, NEED TO GO TO JAIL! FORD PLEASE STOP LYING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS ABOUT THESE VERY SERIOUS ISSUES. DO THOSE SAME FORD EXECUTIVES DRIVE A FORD WITH CARBON MONOXIDE IN THEM? THEY NEED TO! WE ARE NOT HAPPY ABOUT SPENDING THIS MUCH MONEY ON A VEHICLE WE CAN'T EVEN USE! MUCH LESS KILLING US!

THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF WHAT I COULD ONLY AT FIRST DESCRIBE AS NATURAL GAS OR PROPANE (ROTTEN EGGS) ENTERING THE CABIN. IT WAS COMPOUNDED WHEN I PUT TURNED THE CABIN HEAT ON. WITH WINTER UPON US THE SMELL ENTERS THE HEATING DUCTS MAKING IT NEARLY UNBEARABLE. FURTHERMORE WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL ACCELERATION ON A MINOR ROAD THERE WAS AN AUDIBLE POP (AS IF A HOSE BENEATH THE ENGINE CAME OFF) AND A FLUTTERING NOISE WITH LOSS OF POWER. I AM ASSUMING A TURBO OR WASTE GATE HOSE CAME OFF ON ITS OWN. ONCE THE HOSE POPPED OFF THE SMELL WAS UNDENIABLY SINGED MOTOR OIL. AFTER 30 YEARS OF DOING OIL CHANGES I CAN ASSURE YOU IT IS THE SMELL OF BURNING MOTOR OIL. I HAVE SEEN MANY SUCH ODOR COMPLAINTS ON THE 3.5 LITRE ECO BOOST TURBO. THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM AFFECTING MANY IF NOT ALL TURBO ECO BOOST ENGINES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS DANGEROUS NOXIOUS SINGED OIL ODOR. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN MAY 2017 AS A CERTIFIED USED CAR, IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I AM AVAILABLE TO ASSIST IN ANY WAY TO HELP WITH THE INVESTIGATION. I AM AN OWNER OF A VEHICLE WITH THE TAKATA RECALL, THIS CONDITION AND NAUSEATING SMELL IS FAR FAR WORSE. PLEASE HELP.

The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON ON THE DISPLAY. TOOK IT IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE A WIRE HARNESS THAT NEEDS REPLACING, UNTIL ALMOST 900 DOLLARS IS SPENT TO HAVE THE WIRE HARNESS REPLACED ALL AIRBAGS IN THE VEHICLE ARE INACTIVE. THIS IS AN ISSUE NUMEROUS FORD EXPLORER ISSUES FACE AND IT IS PRETTY CLOSE TO BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY FORD. SEATS AND CARPETING HAVE TO BE REMOVED FOR THE WIRE HARNESS TO BE ACCESSED, THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AT BEST AS USERS CAN'T REALLY ACCESS IT SO HOW COULD THEY HARM THE SYSTEM? IT IS ABSURD THAT TO HAVE WORKING AIRBAGS IN OUR VEHICLE WE HAVE TO SPEND ANYTHING IF WE DIDN'T COMMIT ANY ERROR, NOR IS THERE ANY REAL PROTECTION IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS QUITE A LARGE SAFETY CONCERN, I'VE SEEN COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH THIS ISSUE AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT FORD 'WE HAVE PEOPLE COME IN FOR THIS ALL THE TIME'.

FORD IS TAKING APPOINTMENTS FOR RECALL REPLACEMENT OF ORIGNAL RECALL PART BUT THEN WHEN YOU SHOW UP TO DEALERSHIP BEING TOLD NO IDEA WHEN PARTS WILL BE IN DUE TO COVID , RECALL NOTICE SAID THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE BUT WE ARE TOLD TO KEEP COMING BACK NEXT YEAR; SHOULD NOT THEY TELL US PRIOR TO TAKING OFF WORK AND COMING IN THAT RECALL NOTICE IS JOKE AND PLANS ARE NOT UNTIL NEXT YEAR TO POTENTIALLY FIX? FORD CORP WAS JUST AS USELESS AS FAR AS BEING PROACTIVE AND WHEN THIS CAN BE FIXED. IT SHOULD NOT BE JOB TO POLICE FORD TO SEE WHEN PARTS ARE IN AND NOT SURE WHY YOU DID NOTICE IF CAN NOT BE REPAIRED, RECALL NOTICE 20V-675. I UNDERSTAND COVID DELAYS BUT AS ESSENTIAL WORKER WHO WILL BE DRIVING THIS CAR TO WORK EVERY DAY SEEMS A CRAZY WAY TO RUN RECALL. IF IN CRASH AT LEAST I AM ON RECORD TO ALL OF YOU.

AIRBAG SENSOR CAME ON AT ABOUT 55,000 MILES. WENT TO DEALER AND THEY PUT ON COMPUTER; TOLD IT IS TSB 16-0001. DEALER SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG HARNESS, WITH CONNECTORS REPLACED FOR $963.17, B/C WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS NONE OF THE AIRBAGS IN THE CAR WILL DEPLOY UNLESS I PAY FORD FOR A PART THAT HAS NO MOVING PARTS. LOOKING TO SEE IF AFTERMARKET WARRANTY WILL COVER. I SEE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH SAME ISSUE HAVE REPORTED THIS SO THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, POTENTIALLY FOR CHILDREN.

I'VE ONLY OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW. ITS USED BUT DOESNT LOOK LIKE ITS BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS. I DID JUST HAVE MY CAR CLEANED AT A CAR WASH AND THEY CLEANED OUT THE CAR. I WONDER IF THEY HIT THE WIRING UNDER THE SEATS TRYING TO CLEAN THE 3RD ROW SEATING AREA?

Exterior A-pillar trim and rubber strip on both sides has detached from vehicle on the highway. The sides got detached on separate occasions. While driving on the highway, the driver side rubberstrip got detached in one end, starting to flap back and forth over the windscreen, making a lot of noise and obstructing the view. The trim did not come off that time. The passenger side entire trim flew off completely on the highway causing a hazard for other drivers. There is a recall, 24S02 since 2 years ago in relation to this but Ford has not yet been able to address the issue. I received another letter from them to immediately call the dealer to schedule inspection and repair. However, the dealer keeps telling me that the parts have been on backorder for over a year and they cannot address the issue without the parts. How long is it reasonable to wait for this hazard to be addressed?

In 2015, when I leased a Ford Explorer XLT, I was never made aware or otherwise notified that a host of Ford models, including the 2015 Ford Explorer XLT had a long known design flaw in which the water pump, encased in the engine block, had a history of prematurely breaking and causing engine coolant to enter the engine and mix with the oil, and also into the oil pan, causing total engine failure, with no advance warning to and at the peril of the vehicle owner or operator, when the vehicle may come to a complete standstill or stop in traffic or in any operation placing the operator at risk of injury or in jeopardy of causing an accident or being subject to becoming an accident victim, plus creating the need to replace a new engine or a rebuilt engine into the vehicle. catastrophic damage in 2011 to 2020 models, with the replacement costs having to be borne by the owner of said vehicle because no recall had been undertaken, despite of their being a host of victimized owners. This incident happened to me and the 2015 Ford Explorer XLT vehicle I was driving. It occurred while I was in traffic and the exception caused total engine failure with no advance warning, no instrument panel warning and the entire engine had to be replaced at my personal cost of over $7,000. I attempted to negotiate with Ford Motor Company to no avail, and I had to expend the funds to acquire and install a rebuilt engine, at my own expense, to be able to continue to use the vehicle for my livelihood. Numerous correspondence with the dealership of origin, Liccardi Ford of Watchung, NJ, and the Ford Motor Company were fruitless. With all of the incidents and all the victims of this design flaw, a recall should have, in my opinion, resulted, but it did not. To my knowledge, which I have not been able to confirm, the design was corrected in newer models, but no assistance was afforded to the owners of the affected vehicles. I have sold the vehicle and it is not available for inspection.

THIS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY EVEN AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF FOR HOURS AND RESTARTING. PICTURES WERE TAKEN OF THE MESSAGES AND IT WAS DROPPED AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD ABS SENSOR, BUT UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG IN THE COMPUTER AND SOME OTHER MODULES, THEY DID NOT EVEN GIVE US A TIME FRAME FOR COMPLETION. THIS IS NEXT YEARS MODEL AND WE HAVE ONLY OWNED IT FOR 1 MONTH, NOT A GOOD SIGN. NOT SURE IF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE, BUT THEY MIGHT SOON. A LIGHT ON MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CAME ON. IT ILLUMINATES A MAN STRAPPED IN HIS SEAT WITH A DEPLOYED AIR BAG IN FRONT OF HIM. THE LIGHT STAYS ON. ACCORDING TO ME RESEARCH, THE PROBLEM IS COMMON TO 2015 FORD EXPLORERS. THERE IS A WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE SEAT THAT HAS BEEN FRAYED BY THE MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT WHEN IT IS BEING ADJUSTED BY THE DRIVER. THE COST TO HAVE REPAIRS MADE IS ANYWHERE FROM $1000 TO $1400. I AM TOLD THAT UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED, THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. THAT SEEMS TO ME LIKE AN UNNECESSARY DESIGN FLAW, AND IT CREATES A DANGEROUS CONDITION WITH THE VEHICLE. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO HAVE MINE REPAIRED, SO I GUESS I'LL JUST HAVE TO BE CAREFUL AND HOPE FOR THE BEST...

  • 12/12/2025· STEERING,POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I am filing an official safety complaint regarding my 2015 Ford Explorer Sport 3.5L due to a dangerous and sudden power-steering failure that occurred while I was driving with my children in the vehicle. There were no warning lights, alerts, or symptoms leading up to the failure. The power steering went out instantly and without any indication that something was wrong. The moment it failed, the steering wheel locked up and became extremely difficult to turn, nearly causing multiple accidents. I had children in the car at the time, and this situation created an immediate and severe safety hazard for everyone in my vehicle and on the road. After this happened, I contacted (by phone) Ford directly. Without any inspection, hesitation, or further explanation, I was immediately told that the vehicle “needs a new steering rack and pinion.” The quoted repair cost exceeds $3,000, on a vehicle I am still paying $500 a month for. I have since discovered that there are thousands of other Ford Explorer owners reporting the exact same issue, with the same model years, same sudden failure, and the same required repair. This is clearly not an isolated incident. This pattern strongly indicates a widespread manufacturing or component defect that poses a significant risk of injury or death. I am deeply concerned that Ford has not issued a formal recall for a problem that can cause an immediate loss of steering control at highway speeds and in everyday driving conditions. The number of publicly documented complaints online demonstrates that this is a systemic and dangerous failure that should not be ignored. I am requesting that NHTSA fully investigate this issue and require Ford Motor Company to issue a recall for the defective steering rack/power steering system in the 2015 Ford Explorer Sport 3.5L ecoboost w/o park assist, as well as any related model years or trims using the same components. Vehicle is available for inspection.
