  • STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEMCampaign 19V632000 · 29/08/2019

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, 2015-2016 Ford Edge, and 2016 Lincoln MKX vehicles originally sold, or currently registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.

Risk: If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist, requiring a greater steering effort, especially at lower speeds, and increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear motor bolts and apply a wax sealer. If any of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began October 18, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S26.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured February 3, 2012, to March 20, 2015, and 2015 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 26, 2015, to February 28, 2015, and originally sold, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, snow or water containing road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.

Risk: If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist. Loss of power steering assist would require a higher steering effort, especially at lower speeds, which may increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will apply sealer and replace the steering gear motor bolts as required. If one or more of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on June 24, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S14.

  • SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIPCampaign 16V733000 · 12/10/2016

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 9, 2015, to August 12, 2016. During dealer servicing, the affected vehicles may be have been updated with incorrect Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) software. This software can cause the ESC system to lose engine torque control, and not provide any warning lamps to warn the driver if there was an ABS or ESC system malfunction. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems" and number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk: If the operator is not warned of an ABS or ESC malfunction and the ESC loses engine torque control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ABS module, and update the service software, free of charge. The recall begin November 22, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16C14.

Risk: A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Fix: Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Long block repair due to coolant instrusion which is a known issue with this ford edge model. Dealership is quoting me $8468.16 to replace. Per their diagnosis they found coolant intrusion in cylinder 1 combustion chamber. TSB states replace long block assembly and retest. I was driving the car and it started feeling like it was skipping. I immediately returned home as I had just left the house and parked it. When I parked the check engine light came on. • 12/29/2023· POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

My 2015 Ford Edge was in my garage. I opened the garage door to leave and started the vehicle. It said my hatchback was open . I got out to shut it and left the driver door open. Upon closing the hatch my vehicle began rolling backwards. I was hit in the leg and shoulder while getting out of the way of the car. I also sustained cuts on my hand from the open car door. We have a steep approach to our garage and live on an acreage with timber. The vehicle rolled down the approach to the garage and into and through the timber before it hit a tree big enough to stop it. At the body shop the repairman said he moved the car and put it in park and got out but the car then began rolling back on him as well. He was able to get in and stop it. Insurance has declared the car a total loss. I saw some 2015 edge vehicles had recalls for possibly rolling after being put in park. The NHTSA campaign id is 22v413000. My VIN number was not included in the recall so I wanted to report it in case it should have been.

  • 12/28/2020· POWER TRAIN

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR I STARTED TO NOTICE A RATTLING NOISE FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK, I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE INDICATED THAT MY CAR NEEDED A NEW WATER PUMP, WHICH HE REPAIRED. THIS DID NOT FIX THE RATTLING NOISE AND HE INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR MOST LIKELY HAD A CRACKED FLEXPLATE. UPON CONTACTING FORD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE, THEY INDICATED THAT MY CAR WOULD HAVE TO BE CHECKED BY AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER TO VERIFY THIS ISSUE. IT WAS VERFIED BY THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE QUOTED ME A REPAIR BILL OF $3,800 AND THAT IS ONLY IF THE ENGINE IS NOT BAD DUE TO THE CRACKED FLEXPLATE ISSUE. FORD HAS NOT OFFERED ANY ASSURANCE THAT THIS WILL NOT RECUR OR ASSISTANCE WITH THE OBVIOUS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT.

  • 12/28/2015· POWER TRAIN

THIS REPORT IS AN UPDATE TO COMPLAINT: 10788647. THIS VEHICLE, A 2015 FORD EDGE SEL WITH A 3.5L ENGINE, WAS REPAIRED BY A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR A STALLING/LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE VEHICLE FROM NOVEMBER 5-13, 2015, AND REPROGRAMED THE PCM IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE STALLING CONDITION. INITIALLY, THIS ACTION SEEMED TO RESOLVE THE STALLING ISSUE. HOWEVER, IN RECENT DAYS THE GAS MILEAGE HAS DROPPED ABOUT 3 MPG, AND ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2015, AT 7:25PM THE EDGE STALLED WILL DRIVING (NOT ACCELERATING, DECELERATING, OR TURNING) AND THE ENGINE QUIT. THE VEHICLE SIMPLE STALLED AND LOST TOTAL POWER WHILE DRIVING. THERE WERE NO WARNING OR ERROR LIGHTS. THE ONLY MESSAGE WAS "FULL ACCESSORY POWER ACTIVE." I HAD TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK IN ORDER TO RESTART, WHICH I WAS ABLE TO DO. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT ON A BUSY ROADWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME TO BRING THEM THE VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY, DECEMBER, 23, 2015, AND THE VEHICLE HAS REMAINED IN THEIR POSSESSION SINCE THAT TIME. THIS ISSUE IS DANGEROUS. I LIVE IN A MAJOR METROPOLITAN AREA AND TRAVEL INTERSTATES EVERYDAY. IF IT STALLS WHILE I AM ON THE INTERSTATE, THE SITUATION COULD BE DISASTROUS.

  • 12/26/2017· STRUCTURE

I STARTED SEEING WATER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR OF THE CAR IN NOVEMBER 2017 AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OF RAIN AND AFTER THE CAR WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. THERE WAS ABOUT AN INCH OF WATER ON THE FLOOR AND WATER SHOOTING OUT OF THE VENT UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT WHEN THE HEAT IS TURNED ON. ALL OF THE WINDOWS ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR ARE SO WET & FOGGGED UP THEY JUST DRIP. AFTER GOOGLING 2015 FORD EDGE WATER LEAKS ABOUT 20 + ARTICLES POPPED ABOUT FORD ISSUING A STOP SALE ON SOME 2015 FORD EDGE MODELS MADE BEFORE APRIL 28TH 2015 FOR WATER LEAKS THAT CAUSE CORROSION, MOLDING, AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. MY CAR WAS MADE APRIL 8 2015. I TALKED TO FORD AND SINCE IT WASNT AN ACTUAL RECALL THEY WONT ADDRESS IT. I TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO THEN TOLD ME SINCE IT OUT OF WARRANTY & THERE WASNT AN ACTUAL RECALL THAT THEY WONT EITHER. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OF GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH BICKFORD FORD THEY DECIDED TO LOOK AT IT. I BROUGHT IT IN ON DECEMEBER 18 2017 AND THEY CONTRACTED IT OUT TO A COMPANY CALLED HOGLUNDS IN EVERETT WASHINGTON. ON DECEMEBER 20 2017 BICKFORD CALLED AND TOLD ME THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE,THAT IT WAS INDEED A WATER LEAK IN THE FRAME OF THE CAR AND THAT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE IT FIXED. ON DECEMEBER 22 2017 BICKFORD CALLED AND SAID THAT IT WAS FIXED AND READY TO PICK UP. WHEN I WENT TO PICK IT UP. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD WASHED IT AND HANDED ME THEY KEYS. WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR THE FLOOR WAS MORE WET THAT IT EVER HAD BEEN BEFORE BECAUSE IT WAS WASHED AND THE WINDOWS WERE FOGGED UP. AFTER ASKING WHY IT WAS STILL WET THEY TOLD ME IT WASNT THEIR RESPONSIBLITY TO CLEAN UP THE WATER AND THEY WERE JUST GOING TO FIX THE LEAK. I THEN CALLED HOGLUNDS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A HOLE IN THE FACTORY SEAM OF THE CAR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOVE THE FENDER THAT CANNOT BE ACCESSED WITHOUT 30-40 HOURS OF LABOR. SO THEY HADNT ACTUALLY DONE ANYTHING WITH THE CAR.

The flex plate on the vehicle has broken twice within 10000 miles. This is most certainly a manufacturer defect. The vehicle then runs rough, has a loss of power along with transmission shifting issues and can nearly die or not accelerate properly while driving, leading to several near collisions which could result serious injury or death.

Car shuts down when driving. Will lose all power and when I pull over and restart, everything is fine until the next episode, which is happening more frequently. No warning lights come on, nothing. Techs cannot find the issue. This is a common problem that is going unresolved on this and other models, and nothing is being done about it. This is a huge safety concern that needs addressed before someone is killed.

I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED USED FORD EDGE 2015 MODEL IN JULY 2016 AT THIS DEALERSHIP. ON 9/10/17 WHILE DRIVING, I HAD A LOSS OF POWER AND SOME OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHT LIT UP. I MADE TO A PARKING LOT, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN IT WORKED FINE. THEN ON 10/24/17 WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, I LOST POWER AGAIN. I COASTED THROUGH AND PULLED OVER. AGAIN, I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN IT WORKED. I CALLED GILBERT BAUGH AND THEY SAID I NEEDED TO BRING THE CAR IN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 10/28/17. I EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND ASK THEM TO LOOK AT THE CAR. LATER THE GUY CAME TO ME AND SAID THEY DROVE THE CAR AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS BUT THEY TRIED TO RESET THE COMPUTER AND THERE WAS A GLITCH AND THEY CAN'T GET THE CAR TO CRANK. THEY SAID I WOULD NEED TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE. I LEFT THE VEHICLE AND THEN THEY CALLED 10/30 AND SAID THAT THE COMPUTER WAS BAD AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE IT, AND IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I QUESTIONED THEM ON THIS BECAUSE THE CAR WAS DRIVABLE WHEN I TOOK IT IN. I CALLED 11/2/17 AND THE COMPUTER WAS NOT IN YET. THEY CALLED ON 11/3 AND SAID THEY RECEIVED THE COMPUTER AND PUT IT IN BUT THAT THE CAR WAS DOING THE SAME THING, WOULD NOT CRANK. I CALLED THEM AGAIN A FEW DAYS LATER AND THEY THOUGHT MAYBE THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR COMPUTER THEY WERE USING TO PROGRAM AND HAD CONTACTED FORD FOR ASSISTANCE. AGAIN, I WAITED TO LATER BE TOLD THAT NEW SOFTWARE WILL NEED TO BE WRITTEN BY FORD TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS NOW BEEN 5 WEEKS, MY CAR IS STILL IN THEIR SHOP AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH AN ESTIMATED TIME FRAME FOR REPAIR. THEY SAID THEY ARE WAITING FOR FORD. I REQUESTED A BUYBACK THROUGH FORD, IT WAS DENIED DUE TO MY CAR HAVING APPROXIMATELY 55,000 MILES ON IT.
