- SUSPENSION:REARCampaign 15V469000 · 27/07/2015
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured June 12, 2015, to June 20, 2015. The affected vehicles may be equipped with rear lower control arms that may have been incorrectly heat treated. This may cause the rear lower control arm to fracture.
Risk: If the rear lower control arm fractures it may result in a change in ride height, loss of rear end stability, and reduced braking capabilities, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and if necessary replace the lower control arms, free of charge. The recall began July 29, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R38. Note: This supersedes Recall No. 15V-407.
- EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.Campaign 15V461000 · 23/07/2015
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500, 2015 Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger, 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, and Dodge Durango, and 2013-2015 Dodge Viper vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.
Risk: Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R40.
- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:CALIPERCampaign 16V168000 · 23/03/2016
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured December 9, 2015, to January 14, 2016. In the affected vehicles, the left front brake caliper may crack due to being made from an incorrect material.
Risk: A cracked brake caliper may lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the front left brake caliper and depending on its casting date, replace it, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on May 12, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S16.
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRINGCampaign 18V332000 · 17/05/2018
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
Risk: If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

REGARDING ODI PE 16-014 OPENED 16 DECEMBER 2016: ONE YEAR AGO (12/29/15) A NEIGHBOR ALERTED ME VIA TEXT TO THE FACT THAT MY VEHICLE WAS IN THE STREET OUTSIDE OUR HOME. I DISCOVERED MY 2015 DURANGO HAD ROLLED BACKWARD APPROXIMATELY 35 FEET COMING TO REST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT I HAD SOMEHOW FAILED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN "PARK". HOWEVER, AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, I COULD SEE THE ROTARY DIAL CONTROLLING THE TRANSMISSION WAS CLEARLY INDICATED TO BE IN THE "P" POSITION. IT'S WORTH NOTING THAT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING AND THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED. OBVIOUSLY, HAVING THE VEHICLE ROLL AWAY WAS NO SMALL CONCERN. SO I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO SOLD ME THE VEHICLE AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER IN MY COMMUNITY FOR INSPECTION. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THIS WAS THE SECOND RECENT COMPLAINT HE HAD RECEIVED ON THIS SAME ISSUE. ULTIMATELY, THE DEALER INSPECTION TURNED UP NO DISCERNABLE CAUSE. I WAS SUBSEQUENTLY CONTACTED BY THE SM STATING THAT CHRYSLER WAS FLYING A COUPLE OF GUYS UP TO TAKE A LOOK AT BOTH VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE ROLL-AWAY COMPLAINT. THIS PROCESS ULTIMATELY RESULTED IN MY RECEIPT OF CORRESPONDENCE FROM AN INDIVIDUAL WORKING "SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS" FOR FCA STATING, IN ESSENCE, THAT MY DURANGO IS "FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED". A FEW FINAL THOUGHTS: (1) THE SLOPE OF OUR DRIVEWAY IS STANDARD FOR HOMES BUILT ON FLATLAND. AN EYEBALL MEASUREMENT HAS THE RISE AT ABOUT 20" OVER A RUN OF 36'. (2) OUR DURANGO REPLACED A 2004 LINCOLN AVIATOR. THE AVIATOR UTILIZED THE SAME POSITION IN OUR DRIVEWAY FOR SEVERAL YEARS (SANS ENGAGEMENT OF THE PB), YET WE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH IT ROLLING AWAY. MAYBE THIS CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO DUMB-LUCK. OR, MAYBE IT WAS DESIGNED NOT TO. (3) FORTUNATELY, WE LIVE ON A QUIET STREET. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN REAL BAD.

While the vehicle was parked and not in operation, the passenger-side active head restraint suddenly deployed forward on its own. There was no collision, no braking event, no external force, and no warning lamps, messages or other systems of the problem or that it was going to occur. The deployment was unexpected and presents a risk of head or neck injury, as the active head restraint is designed to move only during a rear-impact event. This appears to be a known defect, as the manufacturer previously issued Warranty Extension X88 related to unintended Active Head Restraint deployment on certain 2014–2015 Dodge Durango vehicles. A Dodge dealership refused to repair the defect, stating the warranty extension expired, and quoted over $800 for repair. The dealership did not provide a written denial or repair order. This condition involves a federally required safety system and constitutes a safety defect.

Vehicle will not starts (even though it cranks). The problem as with previous model year Durangos is the Fuel Pump Relay (FPR) inside the Total Integrated Power Module (TIPM). On previous model year Durangos (2011-2013) they have been recalled because if the fuel pump power supply is cut when the vehicle is in motion it could cause an accident. Luckily this condition has not happened to me. Sometimes the vehicle do start and if I use it it has not turned off by itself up to now. The TIPMs were redesigned on 2014-2015 but the fuel pump relay problem carries on. Please have FCA recall these vehicles as well with the FPR inside the TIPM failing. Thank you.

The power actuator for the rear lift gate broke free of its mount causing the actuator to damage the interior of the vehicle as well as causing the rear lift gate to slam closed. Luckily there was no one under the lift gate when this malfunction occurred, but if a child were in the way of the lift gate serious injury or death could have occurred. It is unacceptable that this powerful of an actuator is relying on one single bolt as its connection. When I took this to the dealership to get fixed, they told me they could not fix it and referred me to a local body shop. I live in a small town of around 65,000, and I was the forth Dodge vehicle in the last year or so they have seen with this same issue. I have contacted Mopar who makes these vehicles, and they were not interested in repairing this with the warranty and referred me to the NHTSA. If there are four of these issues in a town of 65,000 I can only assume there are plenty of others throughout the nation. I have attached a photo of the part that failed.

I WAS EXITING A PARKING GARAGE AND APPLIED MY BRAKE TO STOP TO PAY THE PARKING FEE. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP THE TRUCK UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I PUSHED AS HARD AS I COULD ON THE FOOT BRAKE BUT THE ENGINE WAS REGISTERING 4 TO 5,000 RPMS. MY TRUCK MOVED ON THRU THE PARKING GATE BREAKING THE GATE AND THEN MY TRUCK ENTERED INTO THE MAIN ROAD. I ALMOST HIT TWO PEOPLE WALKING ON THE SIDEWALK IN FRONT OF THE PARKING GARAGE. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL ONCE THROUGH THE GATE AND THE RPMS WENT BACK TO NORMAL. SECOND EVENT: IN JUNE OF 2020 I WAS ENTERING A DIFFERENT PARKING GARAGE. I HAD TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK TO OPEN MY DOOR TO RETRIEVE THE PARKING TICKET. I GOT BACK IN AND PUT THE TRUCK IN DRIVE WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL THE TRUCK AGAIN ACCELERATED UP TO 4,000 TO 5,000 RPMS. I WAS ABLE TO BRAKE AND MOVE THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND EVERYTHING RETURNED TO NORMAL. THIRD EVENT OCCURRED ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO. I HAD STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WITH A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE ENGINE ACCELERATED TO 4,000 TO 5,000 RPMS. THIS TIME I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE FOOT BRAKE. I THEN MOVED ONE FOOT OVER TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. WHILE STOPPED I COULD NOT MOVE THE TRUCK FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL. ONCE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME MOVED ON. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE TRUCK OVER TO THE RIGHT CURB AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO MOVE IT INTO NEUTRAL. IF I HAD NOT ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE I WOULD HAVE RAM THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A DODGE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THIS EVENT. THESE EVENTS ARE VERY ALARMING AND VERY RANDOM. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

The lift gate light housing assembly develops cracks due to design flaw, allowing housing assembly to fill with water and cause lights to malfunction. The housing assembly is available for inspection upon request. The rear lights of the vehicle are not functioning as intended and can cause rear end vehicle collision, which car cause injury or worst to the passengers. The problem has been verified by my local Dodge dealership and Chrysler has been made aware of the issue as well. They have replaced the housing assembly 2 times for me in the past but Chrysler has not actually done anything to my knowledge about the design flaw and root cause of the light housing cracking. I currently have water intruding into my now 3rd housing and this time both the dealership and Chrysler are saying they are not going to do anything about it and if I want the cracked housing replaced then I need to pay for parts and labor myself, but what is the point of doing that if its a design flaw and its only a matter of time before the new housing cracks again. I am not the only Dodge Durango owner with this issue, these are many other people reporting this issue on Dodge Durango Forums. The vehicle has been inspected by my local Dodge dealership but not by any other entity. I don't have the maintenance records for the first time this happened, but my local Dodge dealership does. I think the first time the problem was reported was October 2019, and has now happened 2 more times.

UNTIL NOW I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE ISSUE. ONLY AFTER TRYING TO BUY A REPLACEMENT PART, I BECAME AWARE OF THIS BEING A MORE FREQUENT ISSUE WITH DODGE (FCA) OWNERS. WHEN RE-EXAMINING THE HEAD REST I REALIZED THAT THE SPRINGS MUST HAVE HAD DEPLOYED TO CAUSE THAT KIND OF VISIBLE DESTRUCTION. AT THE LAST SERVICE THE DEALERSHIP FIRST DID NOT REALLY NOTICE THIS ISSUE DESPITE PERFORMING A FULL CHECK. WHEN TELLING THEM TO FIX IT, THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE IT FREE OF CHARGE. THEY CLAIMED THAT FCA IS NOT RECOGNIZING THIS TO BE A SAFETY/FIELD ISSUE. SO NOW I REALIZE THAT THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE HEAD REST AND WE WERE JUST LUCKY NOT TO BE HURT BY THE ACTIVE HEAD REST DEPLOYING. BUT NOW WE ARE ALSO LEFT WITH 500 US$ REPAIRS.*DT*JB

VEHICLE WAS BEING FILLED WHEN AT GASOLINE STARTING POURING FROM IN FRONT OF THE LEFT REAR WHEEL. THE PROBLEM CEASED WHEN THE FUEL TANK LEVEL REACHED 3/4. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE FUEL FILLER NECK BECOMING SEPARATED AND THE FAILURE OF THE CLAMPS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL FILLER TUBE P/N 68243686AG.

The transmission shifts extremely hard from 1st to 2nd gear so hard it feels like you've been hit from behind. The jerk is so extreme I believe it could cause an accident. It is unsafe for dodge to leave this a problem. The problem is very well known a simple Google search shows there is alot of people with this problem. It also shifts hard from 6 to 5th gear and 4th to 3rd and 3rd to 2nd gear not as extreme as 1st to 2nd but hard enough to say wtf was that. I've had it looked at twice and they always claim to not feel it which is more of we don't want to do the warranty work. The technician even said dodge doesn't want to do anything unless the transmission is just inoperable. This is horrible to deal with and something needs to be done asap.
