Risk: Front or rear wheel lockup increases the risk of a crash.

Fix: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the remedy is completed. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transfer case assembly, free of charge. • POWER TRAIN:TRANSFER CASE (4-WHEEL DRIVE)Campaign 14V374000 · 27/06/2014

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles, and model year 2015 GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe vehicles. In the affected vehicles, an electrical signal short may cause the transfer case to shift to neutral without the driver's input.

Risk: If the transfer case switches to neutral while the vehicle is parked and the parking brake is not in use, the vehicle may roll away increasing the risk of injury to bystanders. If the transfer case switches to neutral while the vehicle is being driven, the vehicle would lose drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

Risk: Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

Risk: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. IN MY CASE I DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR AN HOUR AND HALF AND EXITED THE EXPRESS WAY. ONCE, I EXITED AND SLOWED DOWN TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE ENGINE STARTS TO RUN ROUGH AND JUST BEFORE YOU COMPLETELY STOP IT STALLS OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST SEVNE TIMES ON A 1400 MILE TRIP. IT EVEN HAPPENS WHEN YOU COME TO A STOP BEHIND OTHER CARS. YOU CAN PUT IT IN PARK OR NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE WILL RESTART. *JS

IN ADDITION, THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V374000 (POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO POTAMKIN CHEVROLET (706 11TH AVE, NEW YORK, NY 10019) TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURES RECURRED. • 12/26/2017· SERVICE BRAKES

WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT AT 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY IN MY 2015 CHEVY SUBURBAN (62K MILES) THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN AND UNDETECTED COMPLETE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. AS I APPROACHED SLOWING TRAFFIC WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, I TAPPED THE BRAKES TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL, ONLY TO FIND THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RIGID AND COULD NOT BE DEPRESSED. TO AVOID A COLLISION AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED I SWERVED ONTO THE RIGHT SHOULDER WHILE USING TWO LEGS TO AGGRESSIVELY PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN - ALL THE WHILE FEELING VERY LITTLE BRAKING ACTION. THE CAR CAME TO A STOP AFTER ABOUT 75 METERS. AT NO TIME BEFORE OR DURING THE EVENT DID THE CAR SIGNAL A BRAKING SYSTEM PROBLEM. IN FACT IT STILL SHOWED NO SYSTEM INDICATOR OF A BRAKE PROBLEM 3 DAYS LATER WHEN IT WAS DELIVERED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED, HAVING JUST UNDERGONE A 60K MILE SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE LACK OF THE VEHICLE'S RECOGNITION THAT A CRITICAL FAILURE IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM HAD OCCURRED POSED A SERIOUS AND IMMEDIATE THREAT TO PASSENGERS AND SURROUNDING TRAFFIC. AS A PHYSICIAN I CAN ATTEST THAT A COLLISION AT THAT SPEED WOULD HAVE SEVERELY INJURED OR EVEN KILLED THOSE INVOLVED. THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2015 CHEVY SUB HAS REPORTED TO NHTSA BEFORE - THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED EVENT. THE SERVICE CENTER REPORTED TO ME THAT A VACUUM PUMP FAILURE WAS TO BLAME - I BELIEVE THIS IS A MORE COMPLEX ENGINEERING PROBLEM IN THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT DETECT A PROBLEM DESPITE THE FAILURE CREATING A LIFE THREATENING SCENARIO. ALTHOUGH I PLAN TO IMMEDIATELY DISPOSE OF THIS CAR, FAILURE TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM BY THE MANUFACTURER WILL PUT OTHERS AT RISK IN THE FUTURE. GM APPEARS TO HAVE ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT REFERS TO THIS PROBLEM (ATTACHED). I SINCERELY BELIEVE THIS DEFECT WILL RESULT IN LIVES LOST IF LEFT UNADDRESSED. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

  • 12/26/2015· STRUCTURE

ROOF WILL NOT REMAIN ATTACHED TO THE ROOF BOWS. THIS CAUSES BUFFETING SIMILAR TO A WINDOW BEING DOWN WHEN ALL ARE UP. THE RESULTS SPAN FROM ANNOYING TO PAINFUL. ALSO THE VEHICLE EXHIBITS LOUD BOOMING NOISES OVER ROUGH PAVEMENT THAT IS NOT PREVALENT WHEN THE ROOF IS SECURED. THE DEALER REPAIRED AND REATTACHED THE ROOF BOWS BUT THE REPAIR ONLY LASTED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AND A 1000 MILES. THE DEALER HAS STATED THEY HAVE DONE ALL THAT THEY CAN. IF THE VEHICLE WAS CRASH TESTED WITH THE ROOF ATTACHED TO THE SUPPORT BOWS THEN IT SEEMS THAT A ROOF THAT HAS DETACHED COULD BE LESS SAFE TO UNSAFE SINCE BOW COLLAPSE AND TRAJECTORY DURING A ROLLOVER WILL BE ALTERED. A FURTHER ISSUE IS THAT WHEN THE ROOF BOW BEHIND THE SUNROOF DETACHES, THE ROOF LIFTS AND THIS CAN CAUSE LEAKING. AS CAN BE SEEN IN THE PICTURES, ONE SHOWS THE FORWARD SUNROOF TO ROOF INTERFACE WHICH IS VERY UNIFORM. THE REAR SURFACE AS LIFTED IN THE MIDDLE AND WILL GET HIGHER WITH TIME. THE THIRD PICTURE SHOWS THE ARC IN THE ROOF

  • 12/24/2017· SERVICE BRAKES

MY 2015 SUBURBAN WITH APPROX 80K MILES, STARTED HAVING BRAKE PROBLEMS WHEN I WOULD DRIVE IN REVERSE. THE BRAKES HAD A GRINDING NOISE AND WAS GETTING HARD TO PRESS. THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AROUND 46K MILES AS I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED FROM ENTERPRISE SALES. THE BRAKES EVENTUALLY GOT WORSE AND HAD THE BRAKE ASSIST MESSAGE ON DASH COME UP. IF I HAD TO USE THE BRAKES TOO MANY TIMES AT INE TIME LIKE IF I HAD TO GO OVER SPEED BUMPS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, THEN THE BRAKES WOULD BE EXTREMELY HARD AND WOULD LOSE ALL POWER BRAKES. IF I KEPT THE VACUUM UP WITH A LITTLE RPM'S- ONE FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND ONE ON THE GAS, THEN I COULD GET THE POWER BRAKES TO WORK. NOW IT'S JUST TOTALLY GONE. NO POWER BRAKES AT ALL NOW AND ORDERED THE VACUUM BOOSTER AND WILL REPLACE IT MYSELF. I CALLED THE MAIN CHEVROLET HOTLINE AND THEY WERE TOTALLY WORTHLESS. I TOLD THEM ABOUT ALL THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS POPPING UP ON THE INTERNET AND WITH SUBURBANS WITH MUCH LESS MILES THAN MINE AND TRIED TO SEE IF THEY HAD ANY RECALLS REGARDING THE BRAKES. THEY SAID NO. I SAID THEY SHOULD BE CONCERNED BEFORE IT ENDS UP KILLING SOMEONE.

  • 12/22/2021· SERVICE BRAKES

My wife drives a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban LTZ. The brake pedal would vibrate when pressed going at slow speed or when reversing for weeks leading up to the break failure; however, no service message would appear on the dashboard instrument panel. On December 17, 2021 my wife was driving when someone in another vehicle crossed the highway right in front of her, when she pressed the brakes, they were very hard to press and the 2015 Suburban was not able to stop. Fortunately, she barely missed colliding with the other vehicle. She was able to coast to a slow speed and pull over into the grass and glide to a stop because the brakes would not work. This was the first time that a "Service Brake Assist" message appeared on the dashboard instrument panel. We had the Suburban towed to the nearest Chevrolet dealership. In researching the problem, there has been a recall issued for this type of failure of the brakes for 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburbans; however, there is no recall for our Suburban according to the VIN #. Failure of the braking system on a vehicle is very dangerous and can result in injury or death. I strongly believe our vehicle, and other vehicles like ours, should be added to the recall list as soon as possible before someone gets seriously injured or dies due to not being able to stop and crashing into another vehicle, person, or object. The Chevrolet dealership says that since our vehicle is not on the recall list, we are responsible for the charges to fix it; however, I believe that the manufacturer (Chevrolet) should pay for the expenses since this seems to be a defect of the parts that are failing, especially since the Suburban is only 6 years old and has less than 100,000 miles.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.

Vehicle was slipping and losing power. Vehicle was loosing power every time I slowed down on a traffic light and/or stop signs. Vehicle was taken to a local shop and it was determined that vehicle had serious transmission issues. Vehicle was then taken to Richard K Chevrolet. Their report (attached here) states “Found code for pressure control solenoid stuck on. Found large metal debris in fluid. Found transmission suffered mass internal failure. Recommend replacement”. Chevrolet will not take any responsibility for this massive failure and I ended up having to pay $5,500 to fix the issue (documents attached). I’m looking for Chevrolet to reimburse my expenses given that a vehicle just a bit over 100,000 miles underwent such a massive failure. My number is [XXX] . The system that is failing is on my Suburban is the Trailer Break System, yes it is available for inspection. The continuous alert is distracting to the point of the vehicle being un-drivable and without the trailer break system functioning properly it puts people in danger due to not being able to safely stop while towing. The dealership said they were unable to reproduce the code. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone except the dealership. Yes, both a visual and audible alert pops up continuously with a loud “ding” and a “Service Trailer Break System” warning.

THE BRAKES TEMPORARILY FAIL WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE FAILURE IS MOMENTARILY AND HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A COMPETE STOP AS WELL AS AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS SOFT WITH LITTLE TO NO RESISTANCE AND WILL GO TO THE FLOOR AND THEN IT WILL IMMEDIATELY PRESSURIZE AND IT FEELS LIKE THE ANTILOCK BRAKES ARE ACTUATING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN A DRIVE THRU AND ALSO WHEN APPROACHING A STOP AT HIGHER SPEEDS. HAVE HAD THE BRAKE SYSTEM INSPECTED TWICE AND NO PROBLEMS CAN BE FOUND.

WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, I.E. IN ROLLING TRAFFIC, OR IN LINE AT A DRIVE UP WINDOW OR CAR WASH, ALL BRAKE POWER IS LOST. ONLY WAY TO GET IT BACK IS TO GET RPM'S BACK UP HIGH AGAIN. SEEMS TO STRENGTHEN THE VACUUM BACK TO NORMAL. I WOULD HAVE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AND HIT GAS, THEN GO BACK TO DRIVE, AND BRAKES WOULD WORK WELL AGAIN. WITHIN ANOTHER HIT OR TWO OF THE BRAKES, PROBLEM WILL COME BACK. IT HAS HAPPENED OVER THE LAST 2+ YEARS, MANY MANY TIMES. AT LEAST 25-30 TIMES.

THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY HARD TO DEPRESS AND WOULD STILL ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO MOVE FORWARD NO MATTER HOW HARD I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND PLACE THE CAR INTO PARK. WHEN I HAD THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP THEY INDICATED IT WAS THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP WHICH WAS ALMOST $1,000 TO REPAIR. THE CAR HAS 45K MILES AND THERE WAS ZERO EARLY WARNING TO INDICATE A BRAKE ISSUE. THIS IS HIGHLY ALARMING AND DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF SOMEONE DID NOT KNOW TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO ASSIST IN STOPPING A HEAVY VEHICLE

OVER THE WEEKEND MY HUSBAND WAS PARKING OUR 2015 SUBURBAN WITH APPROXIMATELY 60K MILES ON IT. WHEN HE BEGAN PULLING INTO A SPACE AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL THE CAR DID NOT PROPERLY RESPOND AND SLID. IT DID EVENTUALLY STOP ONCE HE STEPPED VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL HOWEVER IT WAS SEVERAL FEET IN FRONT OF THE DESIRED PARKING LOCATION. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NOT A CAR IN THE SPOT IN FRONT OF US. HE PROCEEDED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AND IT APPEARED TO BE WORKING UNTIL A FEW MINUTES LATER HE WAS DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED THROUGH AN INTERSECTION WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SINCE WE HAD OUR CHILDREN IN THE CAR, WE DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER A DIAGNOSIS MULTIPLE DAYS LATER, I WAS TOLD IT WAS DUE TO THE VACUUM PUMP FAILING, AN $850+ REPAIR WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER SEARCHING I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES WHICH I WAS NOT AWARE OF. THE PART HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A NEW UPGRADED PART WHICH SHOULD NOT FAIL INDICATING THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE ORIGINAL PUMP. GM IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THE PROBLEM WITH THESE PUMPS AND I WORRY IS GOING TO WAIT FOR A SERIOUS ACCIDENT TO OCCUR BEFORE THEY DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. SPOKE WITH GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. THESE CARS NEED TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED.

  • 11/26/2025· STEERING

On at or about November 1, 2025, I experienced a sudden loss of power steering. I was backing up in a parking and experienced a complete power steering failure. Since that date, it has failed multiple times. There was a recall on the EPS Module in 2015. I have contacted a dealer, they could not find a recall for any power steering issues, when there clearly has been. If there has been a recall for the steering of the same model and make and year, and is clearly a SAFETY ISSUE, this recall in 2015 should cover my vehicle also. I was under the assumption that my vehicle was low on power steering fluid. Proceed to look for power steering pump to check fluid level, no reservoir! Start to investigate, find out I have an Electric Power Assist Motor, and an electric module that can not be replaced when it fails, the entire assembly has to be replaced, no way to replace fluid! I’m in the process of getting an estimate of repair as of 11/25/ 2025. There was no indication of any kind, of possibly failure! There is no data stored in the computer indicating any failure, electrical or otherwise!

AFTER INCREASING THE RPMS THE BRAKES RESPONDED AS EXPECTED. I WAS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE FOR THE DEALER.
