- STEERINGCampaign 15V541000 · 26/08/2015
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014 Ram 2500 trucks and 2013-2014 Ram 3500 trucks and cab chassis manufactured October 9, 2012, to July 29, 2014. The affected vehicles may have inadequate welds securing the front track bar frame brackets, which may result in the bracket components separating from the frame.
Risk: If the bracket components separate from the frame, the vehicle may be more difficult to steer and control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and install a reinforcement bracket over the front track bar bracket. This recall began on February 24, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R46.
- STEERING:LINKAGES:DRAG:LINK:CONNECTIONCampaign 19V021000 · 25/01/2019
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Ram 3500 and 2014-2018 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab and Ram 2500 vehicles. The outboard steering linkage jam nut may loosen, allowing one end of the drag link to separate.
Risk: A drag link separation can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will check the steering linkage jam nut tightness, replacing the drag link assembly or welding the nut to the adjuster sleeve, free of charge. The recall began March 22, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V06.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500, 2015 Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger, 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, and Dodge Durango, and 2013-2015 Dodge Viper vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.
Risk: Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R40.
- SEAT BELTSCampaign 15V460000 · 22/07/2015

In the affected vehicles, the side impact sensor calibrations may be overly sensitive, and as a result, the side air bag inflatable curtains and seat air bags may unexpectedly deploy and the seat belt pre-tensioners may activate.
Risk: Air bags that unexpectedly deploy increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the Occupant Restraint Control module calibration, free of charge. The recall began on September 8, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R23.
- AIR BAGS:FRONTALCampaign 15V459000 · 22/07/2015
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks manufactured January 18, 2011, to October 7, 2014, and equipped with the Electronic Vehicle Information Center option. The affected vehicles have a steering wheel wiring harness that may rub against the driver air bag module retainer spring.
Risk: This abrasion may result in an electrical short that could cause driver's frontal air bag to unexpectedly deploy. Inadvertent deployment of the air bag may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect, repair as necessary, and secure the steering wheel wiring harness. Additionally, protective caps will be added to the air bag retainer spring ends. These repairs will be done free of charge. The recall began on September 18, 2015. - EQUIPMENTCampaign 17V824000 · 21/12/2017
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
Risk: If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began February 14, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or Kidde customer service service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 Ram 1500 and 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.
Risk: Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, inspect the BTSI, and, as necessary, replace it, free of charge. The recall began February 26, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T79.

These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
Risk: If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

Improper installation and machining of the original equipment steering knuckle may weaken the joint between the steering drag link and knuckle.
Risk: The weakened connection may result in a fractured steering drag link, causing a loss of steering and increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Streetcar will notify owners and dealers will inspect and install a new steering knuckle, free of charge. The recall began December 3, 2018. Owners may contact AEV customer service at 1-248-926-0256, extension 500.

TPMS DOES NOT ALLOW SETTING TIRE PRESSURES TO THE RECOMMENDED TIRE SETTING FROM THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WITHOUT TRIGGERING WARNING LIGHT AND NAG SCREEN ON STARTUP. CONSTANT WARNING LIGHT AND NAG SCREEN CORRECTION WILL LEAD TO DRIVER COMPLACENCY, NEGATING THE PURPOSE OF TPMS ALERTING THE DRIVER TO A POTENTIAL PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES. TPMS REQUIRED OVER INFLATION RESULTS IN POTENTIAL LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL DUE TO LOSS OF TRACTION. ABNORMAL TIRE WEAR DUE TO TIRE OVER INFLATION INCREASES RISK OF HYDROPLANING AND LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE. RAM CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS SYSTEMIC, BY DESIGN, AND CAN NOT BE CORRECTED AT PRESENT TIME. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCKED UP WHILE TOWING OUR RV, WHICH CAUSED US TO JACKKNIFE AND SUBSEQUENTLY FLIPPING OUR RV. THE RV IS A TOTAL LOSS AND THE TRUCK HAS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. THERE WAS A LOUD POP OR BANG AND THEN MAYBE A SECOND OR SO BEFORE THE REAR END SEIZED. THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN DURING THIS WHICH LEFT US WITH NO BRAKES FOR THE RV AND THE TRUCK ALMOST FLIPPED WITH RV. THE MECHANIC AT THE SERVICE CENTER SHOWED US THE SPIDER GEAR SHAFT IN THE DIFFERENTIAL, WHICH HAD BROKEN LOOSE SOMEHOW AND JAMMED AGAINST THE DRIVESHAFT GEAR, THEREBY LOCKING THE DIFFERENTIAL AND POWERTRAIN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH RAM TRUCKS AS THE INVESTIGATIONS HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS. WE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE JUST EXITED THE FREEWAY BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY, MY WIFE AND MYSELF COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AND ANY NUMBER OF DRIVERS THAT WERE AROUND US. THE FREEWAY WE HAD JUST EXITED WAS PRETTY BUSY WITH SEMI'S AND CARS ALIKE. THIS KIND OF CATASTROPHIC FAILURE ON A NEW TRUCK WITH ONLY 4700 OR SO MILES IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR

A WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK THE PROBLEMS BEGAN, THE STEERING STARTED RATTLING EVERY TIME I TURNED LEFT AND ON A FEW OCCASIONS IT GOT EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER THE TRUCK, THEY REBUILT THE FRONT AXLE ONCE THEN FINALLY REPLACED THE WHOLE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY AND WIRING. THE TRUCK SHAKES BAD AT 65+ WITH THE FACTORY FIRESTONE TIRES I REPLACED THEM. THE A/C VENT CONTROLS STOPPED WORKING THE MOTORS AND HEATER CORE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE ACCELERATOR/THROTTLE IS EXTREMELY DELAYED ALMOST TO THE POINT OF BEING DANGEROUS AND WHEN YOU LET OFF THE THROTTLE THE TRUCK VIOLENTLY BANGS INTO GEAR. THE SERVICE DEF LIGHT CAME ON YESTERDAY 12/2/14 WITH 3/4 FULL TANK. I JUST REACHED 8500 MILES AND THESE TRUCKS ARE DANGEROUS I HOPE CHRYSLER FIXES THESE NIGHTMARE PROBLEMS. *JS

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 2500. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, there was diesel fuel leaking from the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that there was diesel fuel leaking from the fuel filter connected to the diesel fuel heater. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were contacted but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V635000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 165,000.
- 11/29/2015· VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS I HAVE COMPLETELY LOST THROTTLE RESPONSE FOR UP TO 3-5 SECONDS. THE MOST SEVERE OCCASIONS ARE WHEN TRYING TO TURN LEFT ACROSS A 2 LANE HIGHWAY OR CHANGING LANES/MERGING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE THROTTLE RESPONSE LOSS AKA "DEAD PEDAL" IS HEAVILY DOCUMENTED IN CUMMINS FORUMS IS EASILY DUPLICATED BY BARELY TOUCHING THE THROTTLE, LETTING OFF FOR A SPLIT SECOND, AND THEN HITTING THE THROTTLE AGAIN. THESE STEPS WILL PUT THE TRUCK IN DEAD PEDAL/LOSS OF ACCELERATION FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE POWER IS APPLIED AND THE TRUCK STARTS ACCELERATING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND ONE THAT I TRIED TO IGNORE FOR THE FIRST 50,000 MILES BY BEING PATIENT AND LEAVING LOTS OF ROOM FOR MERGING/TURNING, BUT AFTER A NEAR MISS ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL IT NEEDS TO BE REPORTED SO CHRYSLER WILL FIX THIS KNOWN ISSUE HAPPENING WITH ALL NEW MODEL 2500'S. ON 11/21/2015 I TRIED TO TURN LEFT ONTO A 2 LANE HIGHWAY AND WAS ALMOST HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC GOING 65 MPH. THIS PARTICULAR HIGHWAY HAS LITTLE VISIBILITY TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC DUE TO A HILL. I TOUCHED THE THROTTLE TO TURN AND THEN HESITATED FOR SPLIT SECOND, BACKING OFF THE THROTTLE, AND THEN DECIDED IT WAS CLEAR AND HIT THE THROTTLE AGAIN BUT THE TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE GAINING POWER AGAIN AND ACCELERATING. IT'S HUGE SAFETY CONCERN THAT IF I HIT THE ACCELERATOR IN MY $60K TRUCK IT MAY NOT GO ANYWHERE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS.

THE PROBLEM IS A DRIVABILITY PROBLEM. THERE IS A LONG HESITATION IN ACCELERATION WHEN YOU LIFT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THEN REAPPLY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO BUT WAIT FOR TRUCK TO RESPOND. IF YOU LIFT AND REAPPLY AGAIN THE SAME SITUATION CAN OCCUR AND YOU CAN FIND YOURSELF IN A BAD SITUATION WITH OTHER VEHICLES BECAUSE THE TRUCK WONT RESPOND TO ACCELERATOR INPUT FOR SEVERAL SECONDS!

A Recall on the Drag Link Bar was for a bolt coming loose. The recall was to weld the bolt, so Drag Link Bar could not be adjusted or bolt come loose. I am the original owner and in order to do an updated alignment, I now need to buy a new adjustable drag link bar, because the original one can not be adjusted due to the recall fix was to weld a nut, so it cold not back off. So a $80 alignment charge, is now going to cost me $1000 because I have to buy a new Drag Link Bar. I have contacted RAM, they said the will not do anything, they fulfilled the Recall. Why would the NHTSA allow a fix to be a welded nut on a steering arm that might need to be adjusted for alignment? So it would of been better for me to not do the recall and wait for it to fail and then get a new drag link bar. My Drag Link bar does not need to be replaced due to age of vehicle or wear and tear. The Drag Link bar needs to be replaced because the part can not be adjusted, like all other steering parts.

The electoral component of the climate control started on fire while vehicle was parked and turned off. The truck was deemed a total loss by insurance. There is a fire and police report stating the fire started in the wiring of the climate control. The fire department had to tear out that whole dash part to stop the fire. There was no warning that this was going to happen. We are now stuck with $8000 left to pay on this vehicle that was deemed total loss by American Family Insurance. This was faulty wiring on Dodges behalf.
