  The vehicle has been carefully maintained and received the 144,000-mileage thorough maintenance service which was performed at the KIA dealership in August 2023 three months prior to the incident. While driving in November 2023 the Malfunction Indicator Light came on. I took the vehicle to the same dealership. After 3 days in the service department, I was told the engine is burning oil. They found code P0021, but further diagnosis is required. The "Service Department" told me the vehicle requires an engine replacement. I purchased the 2014 KIA used in 2015. The warranty is for ten years (2024) yet evidently, according to the Service Department and KIA, because the car was on the sales lot in 2013, the warranty is expired. It is not a safe car and the recall, as noted on this site, indicates the same. I cannot count how many recalls this vehicle has had including the windshield possibly being loose and the power steering malfunctioning. I've had the headlights replaced three times and the air conditioning completely fixed after it went out. ( that's not a safety issue, but another indicator of the poor quality of this vehicle.) It appears KIA is aware of the severe engine issues in this 2014 KIA Cadenza and other KIA models, and I believe the Company understands the dangers involved in driving, and even parking this vehicle. I am beyond upset as this vehicle is currently not functioning. (and it's parked far away from a building.) Please advise. Thank you for your time.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The ABS warning light and the check engine warning light were illuminated. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

  The contact owns a 2014 Kia Cadenza. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in a recall 23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. After the repair was completed, while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle hesitated before accelerating. The contact stated that on several occasions the vehicle was shifted into reverse and then driven before accelerating as intended. Additionally, the sunroof was leaking. The vehicle was taken to SAFELITE Auto Glass, and the contact was informed that there was no adhesive glue on the top of the windshield from the driver to the passenger’s side, causing a slight detachment. The contact was also informed that the sunroof had severe rusting around the seal due to rain being able to leak from the lack of adhesive. The rust caused the handle for the sunroof to detach. The windshield had been replaced by SAFELITE Auto Glass. The failure persisted and the vehicle was returned to SAFELITE Auto Glass, and the windshield was replaced a second time 3 years later. The contact stated that due to the water leak, the dashboard started bubbling and eventually burst resulting in a hole being formed. The windshield had been replaced. The contact learned the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V158000 (Visibility). The vehicle had been taken to the dealer who had replaced the dashboard and removed the cup attached to the windshield and installed a defrosting sensor. The contact stated that the leak persisted. The contact had learned that the windshield should have been replaced instead of just the sensor. The vehicle had begun to display a message asking for the driver to comply however, it was unclear exactly what the vehicle was referencing. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that after retrieving the vehicle, the contact became aware that the dealer had only driven the vehicle 1 mile, and the contact believed it was not long enough to experience the failure. The contact stated that the failure recurred, and the vehicle had to be shifted into reverse and then driven before accelerating. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was 41,000.

  The contact owns a 2014 Kia Cadenza. The contact stated that the vehicle made abnormal sounds while starting. A burning odor was also detected while starting and driving the vehicle. The ABS, traction control, and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact's left foot and left arm were burned by smoke and an unknown fluid coming from the air vents. Medical attention was not received. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the engine had previously been replaced twice due to faulty cylinder head bolts, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.

  The contact owns a 2014 Kia Cadenza V6. The contact stated that water leaks into the windshield whenever it rains. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds the vehicle would hesitate before accelerating and when attempting to turn left or right the vehicle would briefly stop and then jump/surge forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who refused to remedy the defective windshield. The vehicle was inspected by SafeLight who diagnosed that the windshield seal had failed due to a lack of adhesive. The seal was replaced. The failure persisted after the repair. The dashboard had become inflated. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who did not diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure persisted and the vehicle would announce a warning stating, " You Must Comply" The contact was unsure what the warning was referring to. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who confirmed the VIN was included in recalls with NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V158000 (visibility) and 23V652000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The windshield had been replaced due to the defogger sensor and certain portions not being properly repaired. The recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V158000 (visibility) remedy was completed and the leak. The contact learned that the leak had caused severe rusting resulting in a hole in the sunroof. The contact also noticed that the steering gear had rust on it as well. The rust had not been addressed. The contact stated they were told that the remedy for NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V652000 (service brakes, hydraulic) had just been repaired but still showed attached. The vehicle no longer leaked water but still displayed hesitation. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened regarding the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a safety complaint. The failure mileage was 41,000.

  The MOTOR DRIVEN POWER STEERING (MDPS) FLEXIBLE COUPLING in the steering system has been making noise, clicking and leading to a sense of slipping in the vehicle steering for several months. I took the vehicle to a Kia service center who confirmed the MDPS was the problem and told me that this a known and common safety problem in my Kia model year. They stated there had even been a warranty extension for this safety concern. They reported that they have observed and repaired this issue many times. However, Kia refused to cover the repair under warranty because my vehicle was just over 10 years old. They suggested I file a claim with the NHTSA since this is a known safety issue.   ON SATURDAY - NOVEMBER 22, 2014 AROUND 6:30 PM THE CAR ENGINE STOPPED AND CAR ROLLED FOR FEW FEET AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. ALSO STEERING JAMMED AND DIDN'T MOVE.   PARKING BRAKE GOT STUCK WAS ABLE TO DISENGAGE AFTER LOOKING AT MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS % SEVRAL ATTEMPTS ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE PB WENT OFF THEN THE AUTOHOLD LIGHT IN YELLOW AND ABS WENT ON. STILL ON ATTEMPTED PER INSTRRCTIONS TO DISENGAGE THE AUTO HOLD ..YOU TUBE INDICATED YELLOW HOLD MEANS TAKE TO SHOP/DEALER. ALSO ON KIA FORUM OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES ONE TOOK TO DEALER & DEALER ADVISED NEEDED BRAKE WORK. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, she observed smoke coming from the engine compartment, and the electronics started behaving erratically, prompting the contact to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle stalled and failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. NON CHROME PREMIUM WHEELS.THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 25MPH ON FOX MILL ROAD NORTHBOUND BETWEEN FOX VIEW ROAD AND FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY IN FAIRFAX COUNTY VA. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE WHEEL WITH A SPARE TIRE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT OURISMAN KIA IN CHANTILLY, VA.

  There is a clatter at startup of the engine. I researched the issue and KIA has a service bulletin about the issue and a resolution for the problem. I had the vehicle brought to the dealership for the windshield recall and asked them to please apply the service bulletin since the timing chain has the discussed rattle at startup. They will not fix the issue. even knowing that it is causing internal engine damage for a defective part. If these vehicles are not fixed properly, the engines will expire prematurely and may cause serious injury.

  THE 2014 CADENZA DOES NOT OFFERS A HEIGHT SEAT ADJUSTMENT FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SO IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR MY WIFE TO GET IT AND OUT. I CALLED KIA AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS I GET THE 2015 MODEL. SO I BOUGHT A SEAT CUSHION TO INCREASE THE HEIGHT . THE PROBLEM NOW IS THAT THE " OFF WARNING LIGHT" FOR THE AIR BAGS DOES NOT ACTIVATE TO ON WHEN YOU SEAT, WHICH MEANS THAT IF THERE'S IS AN ACCIDENT, THOSE BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY AND COULD LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC INJURIES.   I was driving my car at about 70 miles per hour then all of a sudden it went from 70 to like 40 and wouldn't pick up speed the engine light did come on I did get it to a mechanic to have my coils and spark plugs change but car was still knocking mechanic said it was the engine even before this it was always a knocking noise at start up even after oil changes everytime I call about this engine issue it's always cadenza not included but I see that most of the complaints is about the engine the same issues like the others my car is paid for but can't drive it if this problem was known we should be included for a new engine people like myself only work 32hrs cause my job like others are not doing good don't have the 5 to $10,000 kia dealership quoted me at to fix this car that was already known to be bad this is sad but im going to keep pushing until I get to the bottom including a lawsuit because this is not fair at all.

  There is carbon building up on the intake. Which causes the engine to lose power. Even at 70 mph engine will cut out causing the car to decelerate in traffic.

  I was driving down the highway at 65 mph when suddenly the sunroof exploded in an outward fashion causing me to pull over. I believe there is a defect in the sunroofs of 2011 to 2014 models. I've contacted Kia. They refused to cover it. Nothing hit the windshield. It just spontaneously exploded.

  ENGINE WAS MAKING A NOISE AND FOWL ODOR FROM VENTS TOOK TO KIA DEALER AFTER A WK THEY DIDN'T KNOW THE PROBLEM SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE BACK TO LAS VEGAS FROM CALIF ONCE WE ARRIVED WE CALLED LOCAL DEALER THEY REPLACED ENGINE SO THEY SAID. THEN 2 WKS LATER WE GET IT BACK I BEGAN HAVING SITE THROAT COUGH AND SEVERE HEADACHES AND LATER TOLD MY HUSBAND I THOUGHT IT WAS GAS I WAS SMELLING IN THE CAR WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY LOOKED AT IT AND SAID IT WAS FINE SO WE LEAVE TO CALIF AND THE FOLLOWING DAY I WENT TO START THE CAR AND WE HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND GAS HAD GONE EVERY WHERE THE FIRE DEPT HAD TO COME ASSIST AND GIVE CLEARANCE TO TOW THE CAR DUE TO THE FUEL HAZARD.

  Continental pure contact LS 245/40r19. The inner sidewall of the rear passenger tire disintegrated while traveling after approximately 5 hours. The speed at blowout was 80mph. 2 inches of the bottom of the tire was still attached to the rim but no other sidewall remained. There was several seconds of vibration before the car suddenly swerved to the left and then the right before gaining control. This tire was manufactured 19/18 in Portugal and is not part of the tire sidewall blowout recall. Dot AF A6 WD60. The tires were properly inflated with only 19,652 miles since installation.

  The first time anything happened was June 2021. I’d only had the vehicle 4 months. We were on the interstate doing 70 mph when there was a loud noise, it jerked back, almost ran us into an 18 wheeler, went into LIMP mode, and left us on the side of the road! Since then, we’ve taken it to the Kia dealership in Slidell, La SEVERAL times. They removed 5 pages of codes that came up, said nothing was wrong, then it needed a head gasket until finally they said it needs a $9000 motor!! My Cadenza sat at Kia for over 3 MONTHS before they even looked at it the last time! There have been MANY MANY complaints about the head bolts backing out of these Lamba II 3.3L engines causing a catastrophe. Kia does NOT replace head bolts where inserts are needed. It’s an automatic engine replacement. So, now my car is still sitting here in pieces and I cannot get it fixed after paying $9500! Kia needs a recall on the Lamba II engines!! They’re dangerous and are going to kill someone!! This isn’t the first time Kia has screwed me out of a vehicle! I also had a 2011 Genesis I had to get rid of it wasn’t even drivable!! I just want my 2014 Kia Cadenza fixed! Please!

  Engine, electrical, and powertrain is faulty on this 2014 KIA Cadenza and many other models of this same vehicle. After researching for alternate engines or engine replacement, there are many Cadenzas experiencing the same issues and are often parked due to these issues with no maintenance or replacement options as a result of the cost being way too high. When KIA was contacted, they replied that they do not have engine replacements and that servicing of the vehicle expires after the car is paid off.

  BACKED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND ENGAGED THE EPB. I HEARD THE USUAL MOTOR SOUND EXCEPT IT KEPT SOUNDING FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. I DISENGAGED THE EPB AND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE TO PULL FORWARD AND THE AUTO HOLD AND ELECTRICAL POWER BRAKE (EPB) GOT STUCK AND WOULD NOT RELEASED ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT SHOWING ON THE DASH AS ACTIVE AND THEN, I TRIED TO GO FORWARD AND THE AUTO HOLD AND EPB LIGHTS CAME ON AND WERE AMBER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF WAITED A FEW MINUTES HOPING FOR A RESET AND TURN THE CAR ON AND THE AUTO HOLD AND EPB WERE NO LONGER DISPLAYED. I AGAIN PUT IT IN DRIVE AND THE BREAK WAS STILL STUCK. I ENGAGED THE EPB AND THEN DIS ENGAGED IT AND IT STINKS WAS STUCK. I TRIED TO GO FORWARD AND IT WAS STUCK AND THEN THE EPB, AUTO HOLD, TRACTION CONTROL, AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON AMBER AND STAYED AMBER. MY CAR WAS LITERALLY INOPERABLE AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. SEARCHING THE WEB, I FOUND THIS ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE KIA MAKES AND THE MANAGER AND SERVICE AGENT BOTH TOLD ME THAT HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE.

  THE FACTORY-INSTALLED WINDSHIELD WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. I HAD IT IN THE SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE YEARS FOR LEAKS AND THE TECH WOULD ALWAYS SAY HE COULD NOT FIND A LEAK. NOW I CAN LIGHTLY PUSH ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE INSIDE AND IT PUSHES OUT/MOVES. WHOOSHING SOUND WHEN DRIVING.

  TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER - I STARTED TO GET A WEIRD RATTLE WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE. THE KIA DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS WAS A PRETTY COMMON NOISE WITH THESE ENGINES AND NOT TO WORRY. AT 62K MILES I TOOK IT BACK IN AND SAID SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY NOT RIGHT. WELL IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER. IN SEARCHING FOR COMMON ISSUES I FOUND SEVERAL TSB'S REPORTING THE SAME THING. THERE IS EVEN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT TELLS THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHAT PARTS NEED TO BE REPLACED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO INVESTIGATIONS OR RECALLS. I STILL HAD TO PAY 2500.00 TO FIX IT.

  Engine light is on the dashboard and can not conduct the Emission Test. I was told it's a oil consumption problem. And that the same problem that the sorento and sportage is doing. That is currently have a lawsuit going on. I was told the engine may start knocking soon. I was also told at shop that can cause the sensors to get false reading and send error signals to the engine also. If the engine cut off while driving or stall it can put my life and others in danger and cause a major accident. It was confirm at shop and I was told it's a recall on the engine. The dealership tells me not for the credenza and it's doing the same things as the models that is being look at and had a lawsuit going on. My cadenza is wrll6keot and under miles and should not be having this problem. Kia should help me with this problem. Please help me with this mattet.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY FAILED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,860.

  WHEN TRAVELING ABOVE 25 MPH , WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL IN ANTICIPATION OF AN UPCOMING RED TRAFFIC SIGNAL OR ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 55 OR SO AND SEEING TRAFFIC COMING TO A HALT AHEAD, FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL ENGINE KEEPS GOING, WILL NOT THROTTLE DOWN TO NEAR IDLE. ,ITS AS IF THE GAS PEDAL IS STUCK . AT THIS POINT I HAVE TO REALLY BRAKE HARD TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN, IT IS DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS..EVENTUALLY AS THE CAR SLOWS TO A CRAWL THE TACHOMETER EVENTUALLY SHOWS THE ENGINE IS DOWN TO IDLE SPEED., AND THE ENGINE STOPS PULLING ON ITS OWN..MY OTHER ISSUE INVOLVES THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTING TO A LOWER GEAR AND SLOWING THE CAR DOWN, I HAVE NO ISSUES WHEN ACCELERATING, ONLY WHEN I TALE MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR,MY KIA DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM EVEN AFTER SEVERAL VISITS..I HAVE MADE A SHORT VIDEO OF THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER, AND IT CLEARLY SHOWS THE THE CAR GOING ON ITS OWN, WHILE MY FOOT IS OFF THE GAS PEDAL.
