⚠ Do not drive this vehicle — urgent recall

NHTSA has flagged a recall on this vehicle as severe. Contact a dealer immediately; recall repairs are free.

  • AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULECampaign 19V018000 · 15/01/2019Do not drive

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2010 Dodge Ram 3500, Ram 4500/5500, 2010-2011 Dodge Dakota, 2010-2014 Dodge Challenger, 2010-2015 Dodge Challenger, Chrysler 300, and 2010-2016 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.

Risk: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could explode with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.

Fix: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began February 4, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V01.

  • SEAT BELTS:FRONT:ANCHORAGECampaign 19V680000 · 26/09/2019

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2011-2018 Jeep Wrangler right hand drive vehicles. The driver's seat belt buckle mounting strap may fracture and separate from the seat frame.

Risk: A separated or severed seat belt buckle strap will result in an inoperable seat belt, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Fix: FCA US will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's seat belt buckle, free of charge. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed November 19, 2019. Owners will received a second letter and the recall began March 26, 2020. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is VA6.

  • AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULECampaign 16V288000 · 11/05/2016

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Right Hand Drive Jeep Wrangler vehicles manufactured February 16, 2010, to May 2, 2016. The clockspring assembly may become contaminated with dust and cause the air bag circuit to fail.

Risk: Failure of the air bag circuit may prevent the driver's frontal air bag from deploying in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the clockspring, wheel back cover, and column shroud, free of charge. The recall began on August 11, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S40.

  • TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMSCampaign 14V632000 · 08/10/2014

Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2014 Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan vehicles manufactured March 20, 2014, to April 22, 2014, and 2014 Jeep Wrangler vehicles manufactured March 21, 2014, to April 22, 2014. Due to a software error, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) may fail to learn the locations of the individual sensors while the vehicle is being driven. As a result, the low tire pressure warning light will illuminate, despite the the tire pressures being within specification. Should one of the tires lose air pressure, the driver would not be notified of the change in air pressure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."

Risk: If the TPMS light illuminates because the sensors cannot be located, it could mask an actual low tire pressure condition, possibly resulting in tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will reprogram the TPMS module, free of charge. The recall began on October 23, 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is P63.

Engine light on when change in oil needed @ 50%. Oil pressure fluctuates when driving 2% to 30%. Noticed oil leaks in my driveway and had it checked by mechanic. Found out it was the oil filter housing/oil cooler and that it is a common problem with 3. 6 motor also, found out the part is on back order due to a lot of customers having same issue. Found the following in my search: " ATTENTION - 2014 Wranglers have bad oil leak problems! ________________________________________ For 2014, Chrysler made a change to a part called the "oil filter adapter" which sits on top of the engine, under the intake manifold. There are now a parade of people with various Chrysler vehicles that use the 3.6L reporting that the new part cracks, causing a major oil leak, potentially a fire, and can cause your engine to be drained of all oil. If you have had an oil leak, and the dealership told you the issue was the oil filter adapter, the oil cooler or the oil cooler cover, post up here. We are going to try to get pressure on Chrysler to at least redesign the part. Part number is 68105583AA and it applies only to 2014 3.6L Chrysler V6 engines, at least so far. Similar issues have been reported with the new 3.2L V6 used in the Cherokee, but it apparently has a different part number. This is a MAJOR issue if you own a 2014 Wrangler. There is no way to know if/when the part will crack, and if it does, it is not a trail repair. The adapter is buried under the intake manifold, and ever getting to it with some putty would be nearly impossible. You had better have extra oil with you at all times if you are trail riding a 2014 Wrangler. Post here if you have the issue, and go to safercar.gov and file a complaint. If Chrysler doesn't fix this issue, you will never feel safe wheeling your 2014 Jeep in the backcountry. They need to fix this, NOW. ALL 3.6L vehicles are affected"

I own a 2014 Jeep Wrangler, Rubicon. I have not been able to drive my Jeep for 3 years because the ABS light is on and I am unable to get the part to replace it. I have heard from several other Jeep owners that they are experiencing the same ABS failure. The ABS light has been on since 2022 and there are no MOPAR ABS replacement parts. I would like to officially report this failure because I have not been able to resolve this issue. I have taken my Jeep to several mechanics and they cannot repair this issue because their are no parts available.

MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE GOT THE MACHINE ATTACHED THE CODE READ PO520 ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT. WHEN WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY ANY LONGER AND WOULDN'T REPAIR. WHILE I RESEARCHED WE FOUND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT WAS ISSUED PRIOR TO THE WARRANTY EXPIRATION. THE OIL SENSOR SHOULD HAVE AND COULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED PRIOR TO THE WARRANTY EXPIRING IF THE DEALERSHIPS WERE MANDATED TO NOTIFY AND FIX ALL REPAIRS RELATED TO DEFECTIVE PARTS. DURING MY RESEARCH WE FOUND THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS A RECALL IN EXTENDED WARRANTY STATUS. REGARDLESS IF WE GOT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IT IS ILLEGAL FOR A DEALERSHIP TO SELL A USED VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG OR A RECALL. IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL FOR ME NOT TO GET IT FIXED OR MY REGISTRATION CAN BE REVOKED. I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS COST TO REPAIR EITHER OF THESE ITEMS. I AM JUST ASKING YOU TO PLEASE TAKE THESE ISSUES SERIOUSLY AND TO HAVE BOTH THESE PARTS REPLACED. IF THIS WASN'T BAD ENOUGH, THIS TIME OF YEAR, COVID AND MY CURRENT FINANCIAL SITUATION IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME. PLEASE HELP ME.

THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF THE OCCURRENCE AS FAR AS WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH. THE ONLY WAY IT WAS DISCOVERED WAS BECAUSE I ASSUMED THE SPRINGS OR SHOCKS WERE WORN OUT TO CAUSE THE CONDITION. WHILE REPLACING THE FRONT SHOCKS, I NOTICED THE SWAY BAR WAS PULLED OUT OF THE HOUSING. WE HAD NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS ON THE FREEWAY WITH NEAR ROLL OVERS DUE TO THIS CONDITION. Concerning all Jeep Wrangler vehicles with the Pentastar 3.6L V-6 engine. These engines utilize variable valve timing with DOHC’s. Jeep dealers and owners are aware of a very common issue with bearing failures in these assemblies, resulting in damage to the camshafts requiring replacement of all 4 camshafts, 24 hydraulic lifters and 24 rocker assemblies. Approximate labor for this work is $1,220 plus parts cost of approximately $2,770. The issue is signaled by a loud tapping noise from one or both engine banks and typically occurs around or shortly after 80,000 miles though there are a number of reports that can be found where this issue appeared earlier. Jeep technicians diagnose the issue using a stethoscope and automatically assume all components will require replacement without further disassembly or investigation. An internet search will indicate just how prevalent this issue is. My vehicle is currently in the shop and I am told there are currently a total of three Jeep Wrangler Unlimited vehicles in said shop with the SAME issue.

AS SOON AS I EXITED THE VEHICLE I NOTICED A BIG FIRE UNDER THE CAR AND INSURE THE HOOD. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT USING 3 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS. THIS REALLY COULD'VE ESCALATED QUICKLY. I NOTICED A BIG HOLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE. LOOKS LIKE IT THREW A ROD SINCE THE OIL PRESSURE WAS LOW. PROBABLY DUE TO FAULTY OIL FILTER MOUNT. THE EXACT REASON FOR THE ENGINE FAILURE AND SUBSEQUENT FIRE HASN'T BEEN DETERMINED YET AS THE DEALER WILL OT LOOK AT IT UNTIL CHRYSLER SENDS AN INVESTIGATOR TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. CHRYSLER WILL NOT SEND AN INVESTIGATOR AND IS ASKING FOR THE DEALER TO LOOK AT IT. IT'S BEEN OVER 10 DAYS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. SO FAR, NEITHER PARTY HAS TAKEN THE ISSUE SERIOUSLY. ABS module failed and the Jeep began violently shaking on the freeway. There is a significant risk of the brakes locking up which put myself and the general public at risk. A dealer confirmed however there are no parts to buy from Stellantis/Mopar. They are on an "indefinite backorder". Even getting them rebuilt is impossible because they are unable to get the parts. ABS, brake, and traction control all came on when the module failed and the death rattle started. This has left me with a dangerous and almost completely useless vehicle for over a year with no resolution in sight. This is a public emergency with so many vehicles that this is happening to and we need a resolution.

Smelled burning oil coming from the engine bay. Noticed a large amount of oil under the engine. Inspected the engine bay and there was a pool of oil under the oil filter housing. There was no CEL or warning. Checked oil and it was over a quart low. Oil spill under vehicle was large and dissipated in a wide area. A quick web search shows this is a common issue on the Chrysler Pentastar 3.6 engine. It is the OIL COOLANT HOUSING ASSEMBLY which is faulty. This causes oil to spill out and drip on the transmission and exhaust which causes the oil burning smell. There was a backorder on this part and I was informed that over 65K parts were manufactured and sold this past year which demonstrates that this is a known issue. Attempted to have dealership repair but could not book a date for months due to backlog and lack of availability. Took the vehicle to an independent shop that was very familiar with the issue and confirmed it was the oil coolant housing assembly without me mentioning what I thought it was. This was a $975 repair. Contacted manufacturer and they said they could not assist me as I need to take the vehicle to the dealership (only). However, I can't be without my vehicle for 60 days until they are able to "fit me in". Concerned about the burning of oil on the exhaust from a safety/fire perspective.

OIL FILTER COOLER ADAPTER LEAKING AND DUE TO THE PLACEMENT OF THE UNIT INTAKE MANIFOLD MUST BE REMOVED. OIL LEAKING AND COVERING UNDERCARRIAGE AND EXHAUST, APPEARS TO BE A CHRONIC AND WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THE 3.6 PENSTAR ENGINE. AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH THE UNIT APPEARS TO BE A WELL KNOWN ISSUE. TIME FOR CHRYSLER TO STEP UP.

MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER JKU HAS 86737 MILES AND DEVELOPED AN OIL LEAK. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS/REPAIR, AND WAS TOLD "MASSIVE LEAK FROM OIL COOLER HAS SATURATED ENGINE BLOCK VALLEY AND SPILLING OVER ON TO TRANSMISSION AND UNDER BODY". AS STATED FROM THE DEALER, THE OIL LEAK DOES NOT DRAIN FROM THE ENGINE, BUT POOLS IN THE ENGINE BLOCK VALLEY UNTIL IT FILLS AND THEN RUNS OVER THE REST OF THE TRANSMISSION/ENGINE. THIS CREATES A FIRE HAZARD.. AS STATED FROM THE DEALER, THE OIL FILTER/COOLER ASSEMBLY (MOPAR PART # 05184294AE) IS LOCATED IN THE ENGINE BLOCK VALLEY, SO IT IS VERY PROTECTED FROM EXTERNAL DAMAGE. THE SEALS JUST LEAK. THIS DEFECT COST OVER $1000 TO REPAIR. FROM THE NUMBER OF OTHER OCCURRENCES I HAVE READ ABOUT, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE.

IN 2014 MOPAR STARTED USING A PLASTIC OIL FILER / COOLER HOUSING ON THE 3.6 PENSTAR ENGINES. THIS PLASTIC OIL FILER/COOLER HOUSING IS EASY TO CRACK OR DEVELOP OIL LEAKS. THE OIL THEN PUDDLES UP UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD LAYING AGAINST THE HOT ENGINE BLOCK. IT APPEARS TO BE A FAULTY DESIGN THAT COULD RESULT IN ENGINE FIRES OR BREAKDOWNS FROM LOSS OF OIL. THIS IS USED ON LOTS OF DIFFERENT MODELS OF VEHICLES. MINE IS THE 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED. THE OIL LEAKS ANYTIME THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. AFTER THE ENGINE VALLEY IS FULL THE OIL RUNS DOWN THE BACK OF THE ENGINE AND FALLS ON THE TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING AND EXHAUST PIPE CAUSING BURNING OIL SMELL AND POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. MOPAR SHOULD REPLACE THESE ON ALL VEHICLES AFTER THE 2014 YEAR.
