CAR SHUDDERS ON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP AND JERKS AND LUNGES UPON ACCELERATION FROM A SLOWDOWN. TRANSMISSION SLIPS GEARS AND ALSO HITS A DEAD SPOT CAUSING A LACK OF ACCELERATION AROUND GEAR 2-3. RPM'S REV UP WITH NO ACCELERATION AND THEN DROPS QUICKLY WITH A HESITATION BEFORE A REDUCTION OF SPEED. CAR CAN LUNGE WHEN PRESSING ACCELERATOR WHEN YOU DON'T WANT IT TO GO THAT HARD AND THE OPPOSITE HAPPENS ON HIGHWAY MERGES WHEN YOU NEED THE CAR TO GO AND IT WON'T DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION BOTTOMING OUT. PROBLEMS GET WORSE THE LONGER AND FARTHER YOU DRIVE THE CAR. HAD AT THE DEALER 3 TIMES NOW, REPROGRAMMED CLUTCH LAST TIME BUT SAY THE ISSUES FOUND ARE "NORMAL" AND THAT FORD MADE THE TRANSMISSION TO DO JUST AS THE PROBLEMS STATE TO MAKE THE CAR FEEL MORE LIKE A MANUAL THAN AN AUTOMATIC. THIS CAR IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN AND FORD ISN'T DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *JS

Customer experienced sluggish performance and failed starts along with computer error code P0456. Independent mechanic found open recall for canister purge valve associated with error code. Two different ford dealerships in Massachusetts indicated that the vin number associated with the recall was not covered. As a result, Ford failed to honor recall notice for canister purge valve. A year later, Ford mailed a notice to owners regarding this recall. Consumer called ford and was instructed to apply for a refund under the recall by visiting the very dealerships that denied recall services previously. This represents a failure by ford motor company to effectively comply and address a federally mandated recall causing consumers to pay for repairs and then request a refund.

THE VEHICLE IS HAVING HARD JERKING/SHUTTERING DUE TO A CLUTCH MALFUNCTION DURING FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. FOR A WHILE I'VE HAD THE SAME JERKING (SOMETIMES VERY BAD) THAT EVERYONE ELSE HAS HAD DUE TO A CLUTCH MALFUNCTION. I RECEIVED A LETTER FOR THE RECALL FROM FORD AND WHEN I WENT TO HAVE THE CLUTCH FIXED THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO INFORM ME THAT I WAS NOT ELIGIBLE DUE TO HAVING A BRANDED TITLE. THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED UP MY VIN NUMBER WHEN I WAS MAKING AN APPOINTMENT AND PROCEEDED TO TELL ME AFTER I DROPPED MY CAR OFF AND THEY HAD IT FOR THE WHOLE DAY.THE REASON MY CAR IS A BRANDED TITLE IS DUE TO COSMETIC DAMAGE, NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FRONT OF THE CAR. ALL OF THE PARTS ON THE CAR ARE THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURED PARTS. THIS BEING SAID, I'M HAVING A CONCERN THAT EVEN THOUGH THE CLUTCH IS THE EXACT SAME AS OTHERS WITHOUT BRANDED TITLES I AM NOT ALLOWED TO GET IT FIXED EVEN AND THE PART MALFUNCTIONING WAS FORDS OWN DOING.

THE CAR SHUDDERS UPON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP; CHANGING GEARS MORE LIKE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION THAN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION THAT IT IS. ALSO, THE CAR BEGAN SHAKING AND SHUDDERING DURING RIGHT HAND TURNS. SO FAR, THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. THE ACCELERATION FROM SLOW SPEEDS AND FROM A STOP IS DANGEROUSLY SLOW AND NEARLY UNRESPONSIVE AT TIMES. *JS

WHILE ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC YESTERDAY EVENING A WARNING APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY PANEL "STOP SAFELY NOW". I WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE ROADWAY IMMEDIATELY DUE TO TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE ENGINE OPERATING INDICATOR (A GREEN CAR WITH ARROWS POINTING FORWARD AND BACK) WAS NO LONGER ON BUT ACCESSORIES ON THE CAR WORKED PROPERLY (E.G. HEADLIGHTS, POWER STEERING, ETC) I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF THE CAR WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESTART BUT CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I WAS ABLE TO EVENTUALLY PUSH THE CAR OFF OF THE ROADWAY INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CAR'S IGNITION TURNED OFF ONCE I WAS BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND THE DOOR CLOSED. I POWERED THE CAR ON AFTER IT HAD FULLY SHUT DOWN AND IT RETURNED TO OPERATING NORMALLY. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS THE ALL-ELECTRIC FORD FOCUS. THANK YOU. *TR UPDATED 1/28/16 *JS

When trying to accelerate, it hesitates. Not sure if it’s a transmission problem.
- 12/29/2016· POWER TRAIN,TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM
TRACTION CONTROL IS A HAZARD, WHEN YOU NEED POWER TO THE WHEELS AND THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGES YOU HAVE ZERO POWER. WHILE GOING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE WITH SNOW ON THE SURFACE THE WHEELS SPUN BRIEFLY AND ENGAGED THE TRACTION CONTROL, LOST ALL POWER TO THE FRONT WHEELS AND HAD TO BACK DOWN. TALKING WITH THE DEALER THEY SAID IT IS NORMAL, NOT SAFE, BUT NORMAL. NOW, YOU CAN TURN THE TC OFF BUT REQUIRES MULTIPLE STEPS WITH PROGRAMMING SWITCH IN THE STEERING WHEEL, PLUS, EVERY TIME YOU TURN VEHICLE OFF IT RESETS TC TO ON. THERE NEEDS TO AN EASY ACCESS SWITCH TO TURN TC OFF WHILE DRIVING OR AT THE VERY LEAST, FORD NEEDS TO REPROGRAM THE VEHICLES SO WHEN YOU TURN TC OFF, IT STAYS OFF UNTIL YOU TURN BACK ON. LOOSING POWER IN TRAFFIC ON A HILL COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS AND AT THE BEST CAUSES YOU TO BACK DOWN. *TR

YOU HAD BETTER HOPE THE DAY YOU REALLY NEED THE CAR TO MOVE IT DOES; BUT NOT SURGE UNEXPECTEDLY. THE MOST FRUSTRATING POINT IS FORD SAYS IT'S NORMAL. NORMAL! TRACTION CONTROL ISSUE.... DURING SNOWSTORM , TRYING TO DRIVE UP A HILL WITH A LEFT HAND TURN , TIRES LOST TRACTION AND CAR ELECTRONICALLY REDUCED RPM SPEED... LOSS OF SPEED ALMOST SENT CAR SIDEWAYS INTO DITCH. HAD TO TURN AROUND AND GET RUN AT HILL 4 MORE TIMES.... EACH TIME WHEN TRACTION WITH TIRES WAS BROKEN ...RPMS WERE DROPPED TO NOTHING LEAVING CAR STOPPED NEAR STALLING IN MIDDLE OF HILL. WILL BE DEALING WITH DEALERSHIP SOON.. While driving on the freeway to go drop my daughter at school, the car started jerking and loosing speed, it wasn't responding or picking up speed when pressing on the gas pedal, it started slowing down and almost got hit from behind. Then a warning came on the dash showing check engine and "transmission overheating," at that moment I pulled over to the side of the freeway and parked the car. I was able to make it to my daughter's school, but after getting to my daughters school, the car would not go into drive or reverse, so I turned it off to cool it down. I tried to turn it back on and it failed to come back on, and so I had to get it towed from my daughter's school to my residence. The transmission was compromised and is now faulty because it failed to go into drive or reverse. I'm not sure why it's not starting. My safety and that of others was put at risk when the car jerked and started slowing down suddenly on the freeway and almost caused an accident. Not inspected and no diagnostic carried out yet. I'm in the process of having it towed to a ford dealership because there's a customer notice from Ford for extended warranty for the transmission control module.

THE CAR'S SPEAKERS, RANDOMLY AND WITHOUT ANY SORT OF PREDICTABILITY, LET OUT AND INCREDIBLY LOUD CRACKLING/SCREECHING/SOUND TO THE POINT OF HURTING YOUR EARDRUMS. IT IS VERY STARTLING, IT EITHER PERSISTS AND DOES NOT STOP (SOMETIMES FOR HOURS) OR STOPS AND SPORADICALLY RETURNS. THIS ISSUE HAS EVEN CAUSED ME TO JERK WHILE DRIVING AS IT IS VERY LOUD AND SCARY. TURNING VOLUME DOWN DOESN'T DO ANYTHING, TURNING THE SYNC SYSTEM OFF DOESN'T DO ANYTHING, THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS NOT EVEN ON (KEY ISN'T IN IGNITION). IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS THIS PROBLEM IS SO LOUD AND UNPREDICTABLE THAT IT CAN CERTAINLY LEAD TO A CAR ACCIDENT. HAVING READ THROUGH A LOT OF ONLINE FORUMS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.

THE CAR NEXT TO ME LEFT AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE A U TURN, BY THE TIME I GOT BACK TO THE DEALER THEY WERE CLOSED. IN AUGUST OF 18 ONE DAY LEAVING THE GAS STATION WHEN I PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE ALL IT DID WAS REV THE ENGINE ANOTHER TIME WHEN I BACKED OUT OF MY PARKING PLACE AND TRIED TO DRIVE AWAY IT WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN IN DECEMBER. LATELY I HAVE A PROBLEM WHERE THE ENGINE WILL REV UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IT USUALLY IS ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS. THE RPM'S WOULD DOUBLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ON 12/7/18 THIS HAPPENED AGAIN, HOWEVER I HAD TO TAKE MY FOOT OF THE ACCELERATOR IN ORDER FOR THE ENGINE TO STOP THE REVVING. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED IN DECEMBER 2015. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE SINCE I BOUGHT IT . IT SHUDDERS WHEN TAKING OFF AND GOING UP A HILL. IT ALSO ROLLS BACKWARD BY ITSELF. IT IS DEFINITELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I BOUGHT ADDITIONAL WARRANTY WITH IT. I WAS JUST INFORMED WHEN I PICKED IT UP AFTER BEING REPAIRED THE LAST TIME THAT FORD FOCUS HAS A JUNK TRANSMISSION AND WILL GOT OUT AGAIN. I REALIZE THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE LEMON LAW BECAUSE IT WAS PURCHASED USED BUT THE MAIN CONCERN IS THE SAFETY. IT ROLLED BACKWARDS ON A SLIGHT HILL EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. IT WAS A CITY STREET. LUCKILY, THE PERSON BEHIND ME WAS NOT TOO CLOSE AND THE I HAD STOPPED A LITTLE WAYS FROM THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME, BECAUSE I HAD TO GAS IT TO GET IT TO QUIT ROLLING BACKWARDS.

MY CAR WAS NOT FIXED. THE CAR CONTINUES TO HESITATES OR PUTTERS WHILE DRIVING. I WAS WONDERING IF THE GOVERNMENT COULD FILE A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST FORD CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM. I TALKED TO A REPRESENTATIVE AT CORPORATE OFFICE AND THAT PERSON SEEMS TO NOT BE CONCERNED. HE TOLD ME THAT THE ONLY OPEN RECALL WAS CONCERNING THE DOOR LATCH. RECALLS WERE VIN SPECIFIC. HOW OUTRAGEOUS IS THAT. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. I AM A FAITHFUL FORD PURCHASER. FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ITS PRODUCT. CAN AN RECALL BE REISSUED DUE TO LACK OF EFFECTIVENESS? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND RESPONSE. I DON'T KNOW WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED. *TR

THE TRANSMISSION/ENGINE HESITATES/STALLS WHILE DRIVING. ROUGH ACCELARATION.THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY 65MPH AND NOTICE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING WEIRD WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, WHEN I SLOWED DOWN THE CAR WOULD SHAKE WHEN TRYING TO GAIN SPEED AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY GOT OFF OF THE FREEWAY PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO LOOK THE CAR OVER. TURNED OFF THE CAR TO CALL SOMEONE, TRIED TURNING THE CAR BACK ON WITHIN 5 MINUTES AND THE CAR HAD COMPLETELY LOCKED DOWN, HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TOW TO DEALER CAR HAD 21,000 MILES ON IT. DEALER STATED THE ISSUE WOULD BE FIXED SOME TYPE OF UPDATE NEEDED DONE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE UPDATE DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THE DEALER STATES EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY. THE CAR STILL HESITATES ON ACCELERATION. I BOUGHT THE CAR FOR MY TEEN DRIVER BUT I AM AFRAID TO LET HIM DRIVE IT BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW SAFE THE CAR IS. THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH HOW THIS CAR OPERATES ON ACCELERATION. *TR

I PURCHASED MY 2014 FORD FOCUSE SE HB IN FEBRUARY OF 2015. AROUND 13,000 MILES THE CAR BEGAN ERRATICALLY SHIFTING IN SECOND AND THIRD GEAR WHILE DRIVING. HAVING TROUBLE STOPPING AND GOING AGAIN AT STOP LIGHTS. AFTER WAITING 8 WEEKS TO GET A "NEW" CLUTCH, THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WAS GRINDING HORRIBLY WHEN TURNING. TOOK IT BACK IN AND THEY SAID IT WAS "FIXED" NOW. THE CAR IS STILL HAVING SHIFTING PROBLEMS AND DRIVES VERY HARD ON BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY. I HAVE NOTICED THE CAR LUNGING FORWARD WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP, MAKING ME VERY UNEASY FOR MY SAFETY IN THIS VEHICLE. WHEN I ASKED THEM TO FIX IT AGAIN THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, THAT THEY DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR.

MY 2014 FORD FOCUS BEGAN LURCHING, SHUDDERING AND STALLING A FEW MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT IN OCTOBER 2014. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS FIXED. FORD EVEN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON CERTAIN TRANSMISSION PARTS TO 100,000 MILES. THE PROBLEMS HAVE COME BACK, AND FOR FOUR MONTHS I'VE CALLED MY DEALERSHIP TO GET THIS FIXED. EVERY TIME THEY TELL ME THAT FORD WILL NOT SEND PARTS TO DEALERS SO THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THESE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ARE RAMPANT WITH THE AUTOMATIC DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSIONS FORD INSTALLED IN FOCUSES AND FIESTAS, AND IT'S TIME FOR A RECALL. THESE ARE DANGEROUS PROBLEMS, AND FORD HAS CHOSEN TO REMAIN SILENT AND REFUSE TO PROVIDE SOLUTIONS.

FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE HAS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH ACCELERATION 0-30 SEEMS TO BE WHERE IT'S AT. THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS, REVS RPMS, DE-ACCELERATES, SLOW TO ACCELERATE TO SPEED, AND HAS A METAL GRINDING SOUND ON ACCELERATION. THIS IS NOT ONCE OR TWICE THIS IS EVERY TIME THAT THE CAR HAS TO SLOW DOWN AND PICK BACK UP SPEED. I AM AFRAID TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC B/C I DON'T KNOW THAT MY CAR WILL MAKE IT UP TO SPEED FAST ENOUGH TO NOT GET ME REAR-ENDED. THE CAR SHAKES LIKE IT'S GOING TO FALL APART WHEN WE ACCELERATE AND ALMOST FEELS LIKE IT DOESN'T WANT TO GO INTO GEAR. THIS IS THE SECOND FORD VEHICLE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY FIRST WAS A 2012 THAT HAD A RECALL FORD WOULDN'T HONOR UNTIL THE PART BROKE AND LEFT ME STRANDED ON A BRIDGE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AT NIGHT. THIS IS A 2014 THAT I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE AROUND IN WITH ME CHILD B/C IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS GOING TO DROP MY TRANSMISSION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I'M ALSO READING THAT IT HAS PROBLEMS BRAKING WITH THIS ACCELERATION ISSUE AND WILL JOLT OUT INTO TRAFFIC AT A STOP LIGHT. THIS IS FROM EVERY STOP GETTING READY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. MY CAR ONLY HAS MAYBE 10,500 MILES ON IT AND I'VE ONLY HAD IT MAYBE 8 MONTHS. FORD SAYS THEY WILL KEEP FIXING IT IF IT BREAKS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT MY WARRANTY IS ONLY SO LONG THEN I HAVE TO PAY FOR FORDS' MESS UP OUT OF MY POCKET. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY.

PLEASE ASSIST WITH INVESTIGATING THE FORD DSP6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION INSTALLED IN THE FOCUS AND FIESTA. THIS TRANSMISSION IS UNSAFE FOR OPERATION. DEFECTS CAN CAUSE LOSE OF POWER WHILE ACCELERATING, DELAYED SHIFTING WITH GRINDING AND SHUDDERING, SLIPPING INTO NEUTRAL, AND SURGING/ DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AT LOW SPEEDS. FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS OFFERED SEVERAL "BANDAIDS" NONE OF WHICH HAS PERMANENTLY CORRECTED THE ISSUE. THE TRANSMISSION SUFFERS FROM POOR DRIVEABILITY AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES. I AM AFRAID THAT THE DELAY IN ACCELERATION/ SHUDDER/ POWERTRAIN STUMBLE WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ONE DAY. I HAD MY CLUTCH REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY HOWEVER THE SYMPTOMS HAVE RETURNED. FORD HAS BEEN LESS THAN RESPONSIVE TO ITS CUSTOMERS, DEALER CAN BE DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH AS THE ISSUES ARE NOT ALWAYS IMMEDIATELY REPRODUCIBLE. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE THAT WILL UNFORTUNATELY CAUSE SOMEONE TO LOSE THEIR LIFE. PLEASE HEAR THE WARNINGS FROM CONCERNED DPS6 OWNERS AND IMMEDIATELY OPEN AN INVESTIGATION.

SHIFTING ISSUES WITH THE 6SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. CAR SHIFTING IS ERRATIC WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP, OR TRAVELING IN A HIGHWAY CONDITION. CAR REVS, SHUTTERS AND STUTTERS. IT IS VERY UNSAFE. I CONTACTED DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY KNOW ABOUT IT, BUT I CANNOT GET MY CAR SERVICED UNTIL 6 MONTHS FROM NOW. IT SEEMS THAT THIS ISSUE IS GETTING WORSE, AND WHILE I WAIT TO ADDRESS ISSUE, I FEAR THAT MORE DAMAGE IS HAPPENING TO MY VEHICLE. I MAY IMPACT MORE PARTS ON MY NEW CAR THAT WILL COST ME MONEY, OR WORSE IT WILL RESULT IN A TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHICH WILL LEAVE ME STRANDED WHERE I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY, OR THE SAFETY OF A FAMILY MEMBER. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING AND INCREASING SINCE AUGUST 2015

While has had the transmission recall work done x 2 and was told by the mechanics that to recync “drive it like you stole it” when you can prior to the last recall fix in Feb and just had the cpv recall replacement done in February it was not driven a lot and I am in my late 60’s so I do not drive it like a teenager. During that recall repair they said I needed to replace the engine bolts ( I would think would be related due to the “drive it like you stole it” to resync the transmission but had to pay for out of pocket and found a transmission bolts also needed replaced that I wasn’t told by the ford service guy. Recently in driving it would thunk when stopping and pinched forward and had major excelleration delay when trying to turn in traffic causing safety issues. Shifting was erratic and would stay in like 1st or 2nd when should have been going to 3/4th gear.Took in to service at ford again as the wrench showed up on dash finally thinking it was the auto shift transmission to be told I had a complete computer failure to replace at my cost of approx $2400. Isn’t this part of what controls the sync in the transmission in the first place? Isn’t this part of what they should have done on the other recalls like the 18v-735 or should it not be covered as the reprogramming apparently failed and at some point destroyed the computer module system?
