  I took my car to a Mavis Tire to get the tires rotated and balanced. They told me the electronic steering rack failed and is causing significant wear on my left front tire and that they recommended replacing the rack and the inner tie rods as well as replacing the two front tires and realigning them. I got a second opinion and the guy told me that the left front tire belt has been worn down and that the front two tires needed replacing and realignment, but didn't mention the steering rack (he also didn't look under the car, he just drove it and felt the wheel jerking back and forth). I did not tell the second auto shop about the steering rack, as I didn't want it to bias their opinion. My safety has been put at risk because this randomly happened out of nowhere and my tire jerks back and forth while I am driving. The vehicle has only been inspected by these two auto mechanics. There were no warning messages on the dashboard and the second auto shop ran a diagnostic test and confirmed everything checked out alright.

  There were no warnings the power steering failed just as the previous recalls on the 2000 model Hondas did but there's no recall for this one the ABS has been affected there's no power steering and reduced engine power on and off a number of safety lights on dash the exact symptoms as described for number of Honda's before this one even the same year model but not this one 2013 Honda Accord vin [XXX] .   The steering system failed/malfunction. when turning the wheel counter-clockwise, the steering wheel jerks and temporarily shuts down the vehicle even while driving. Steering wheel has failed during the middle of a left hand turn in multiple intersections. Very unsafe and scary situation when the car does not respond or perform any inputs when the drive is trying to correct/move the wheel. the steering wheel stiffens and is unable to be moved for a few seconds while the car is on Drive. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer but stated since there are no codes provided, they are unable to service the vehicle and are unsure what that issue is and what may be causing it. vehicle has been inspected by multiple Honda dealerships, no one is able to determine what is causing this issue *but they can reproduce it) No warning lamps or messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Issue first became apparent and has been getting progressively worse about 2 year ago (150,000 miles)

  The passenger side window stop and starts and when it gets to full close, it opens back up on its own a few inches. For another Honda Accord that I own if the same year, the passenger window does not go up/down from the drivers side.

  Lost ability to steer vehicle. It was impossible to steer the car. The car was running on and in one instance moving at low sped in my own driveway. There have been 3 instances when this happens. The problem went away after turning the car off and restarting the vehicle. 2) the starter won’t start on occasion as it takes multiple attempts to start vehicle. 3) I had to replace the starter and also a sensor forward collision sensor so the entire dashboard display for every light would turn off. Literally, every light on the dashboard turns on, even for low tire pressure. The bidders concern from operation perspective is the steering. There’s no doubt in my mind that this is a critical and serious defect with this make and model of the 2013 Honda Accord. I looked online and there are literally thousands of reports of the same issue. There are complaints of uncontrollable steering too. One gentleman did a YouTube video demonstrating what’s happening. I will do the same for the steering in this vehicle the next time it happens. Why hasn’t the NHTSA issued a mandatory recall and forced Honda to make this recall happen now. I hope this isn’t a political decision because I know lives are in serious jeopardy with this loss of ability to steer the vehicle with no warning. Lastly, I’ve bought and owned 5 Honda in my lifetime: 3 Honda Accords, 1 Odyssey and 1 Pilot and I’ve never needs to file a complaint in the past as they’ve always been a reliable, safe vehicle. I’m extremely concerned about this problem and I urge NHTSA and Honda to do the right thing and issue an immediate recall to remedy this issue. You are now aware of this issue in a formal complaint and it appears that there are already several thousand complaints based on what’s online. Please take action.

  ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST SIX WEEKS WHEN TURNING LEFT, THE CAR WILL STALL FOR A SECOND OR SO LOSING ALL POWER. IT THEN WILL SUDDENLY ACCELERATE. I HAVE NEARLY BEEN HIT WHEN TURNING ONTO A ROAD BY ON COMING TRAFFIC WHEN I SHOULD HAVE HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! THE DEALER HAD THE CAR FOR THREE DAYS. THE SERVICE REP DROVE IT HOME. THE MECHANIC DROVE IT. THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THE DAY I GOT THE CAR BACK IT AGAIN STALLED OR LUGGED. MOST OF THE TIME IT STALLS WHEN TURNING LEFT BUT IT HAS FAILED IN REVERSE AND WHEN LEAVING A STOP LITE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE WOULD CALL HONDA ENGINEERING TO SEE WHAT PROBLEMS THEY MIGHT BE AWARE OF. THAT WAS A WEEK AGO AND I'VE NOT HEARD BACK. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN IF YOU ARE OVER 20 MPH. Ordered and replaced oem steering motor.no warning lights or symptoms Pryor to first incident. Had new oem part installed and the replacement part is acting same way and making some clicking sounds after less than 10,000 miles, and 18 months.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GWINNETT PLACE HONDA (3325 SATELLITE BLVD, DULUTH, GA 30096) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.

  AFTER HEARING A NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL (SUCH AS A CLICKING NOISE OR SQUEAKING), TURNING IT LEFT AND/OR RIGHT, I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP ON 08/20/2013. THE DEALERSHIP REMOVED THE STEERING WHEEL AND DETERMINED THAT THE CABLE REEL FOR THE AIR BAG WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT RETURN THE VEHICLE TO ME FOR "SAFETY" UNTIL THE PART WAS TO BE REPLACED (AND THE STEERING CONSOLE HAD BEEN DISASSEMBLED). THE DEALER REPLACED THE CABLE REEL ON THE CAR. 2 MONTHS AFTER THE REPAIR, I STARTED HEARING THE SAME NOISE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT/RIGHT. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER ON 12/26/2013 WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. THE DEALER INSPECTION DETERMINED THAT THE CABLE REEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN (5,484 MILES). THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT DISASSEMBLE THE STEERING CONSOLE, THEY WOULD ORDER THE REPLACEMENT PART AND I WOULD HAVE TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN FOR THE REPLACEMENT WHEN THE PART ARRIVES (THIS IS THE SECOND REPAIR IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS). I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP WHY THIS WAS A RECURRING ISSUE? THEY INDICATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED THEM WITH THE PART AND THEY ARE REPLACING IT ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS. IF THE ISSUE HAPPENS FOR A THIRD TIME, THEY WILL REPORT THIS TO AMERICAN HONDA FOR POSSIBLE ENGINEERING ISSUE AND RECALL. *TR

  The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while at a stop sign, the vehicle unintentionally accelerated while the brake pedal was depressed; the contact had to shut the vehicle off for the vehicle to come to a complete stop. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to get a diagnosis however, the failure cause was unidentifiable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

  The steering suddenly became hard to turn right on a freeway going at 60 miles per hour (and came to normal in about 10 seconds) and then in about 10 more minutes when I took a left turn exiting the freeway, the steering remained stuck going left and had to pull it back to center with some effort. Got it checked with a honda dealer and they say something is wrong with the EPS system, where some torque value at rest is incorrect. There is a 13 year extended warranty for EPS torque sensor but only if certain codes show up. Unfortunately those torque sensor DTC codes do not show up on my vehicle and they say it could be a shorted EPS motor and hence it's not being covered in warranty and the current recommendation is changing the entire steering rack and I'm asked to pay out of pocket.   On December 10, 2024, while driving at approximately 45 mph on State Street, my vehicle suddenly lost all power and stalled. The dashboard lights went out, and there were no prior warning indicators. Thankfully, I was able to coast safely off the road and restart the vehicle after it stalled. Before this incident, I had experienced multiple occasions when my car took unusually long to start. When pressing the gas pedal, the vehicle struggled to accelerate, feeling like it had no power. On December 26, 2024, I received an email stating that certain 2013–2023 Honda Accords might be subject to a recall due to a faulty fuel pump. However, after checking my specific VIN, I found no active recalls listed for my vehicle. Given the issues I have been experiencing over the past year—including stalling and power loss—I believe my vehicle may be affected by the same faulty fuel pump issue. I am filing this complaint to document that the identified fuel pump issue may affect more vehicles from these model years.

  While driving my 2013 Honda Accord sedan on the turnpike, I experienced a critical failure of the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) modulator, which was later inspected and confirmed to be malfunctioning by a Honda service technician at South Motors Honda. This component is available for inspection upon request. As I was traveling at approximately 65 mph, the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) malfunctioned, causing the brakes to lock up when I attempted to slow down for traffic ahead. This sudden loss of braking control put my safety and the safety of others at significant risk, as I nearly collided with the vehicle in front of me. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by an independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Prior to the failure, several warning lamps, including the VSA, ABS, and BRAKE lights, illuminated on the dashboard. These warning lights first appeared about a week before the incident, but I was unable to get the vehicle serviced immediately due to scheduling constraints. Additionally, the Front Collision Warning system was not functioning, which further compromised my ability to avoid a potential accident. This malfunction was particularly concerning as it failed to alert me to the rapidly approaching vehicle ahead, exacerbating the dangerous situation caused by the ABS failure.

  Accord does not start frequently. Lights and electrical turn on, but does not turn on. Battery, alternator, key battery and starter were replaced with the same problem. After about 10 minutes or so after trying the vehicle will start. It has left me stranded many times. Honda will not assume responsibility. After reading blogs many owners with 2013 and 2014 Accords experience same problem with no known fixes.

  This is an issue of the car regularly pulling hard to the left without warning. My mechanic stated Honda ran out of a regular front-end part and began using an inferior part on some models over several model years. He also stated that neither attempted alignment or repairs other than a suitable replacement for the affected part(s) (currently does not exist) will remedy the issue. I now have a shoulder problem requiring surgery from almost constantly fighting to keep my car in the lane for so long now. The issue has been prevalent since approximately the date and mileage given in "Additional Details" below after becoming vehicle owner and remains ongoing.

  When driving down an even and flat road, the steering wheel will rotate very fast to the right and if I did not have my hands on the steering wheel it would of taken me right off the road. I stopped the car and centered the steering wheel and then let it go and it rotated at least 1 full turn to the right. I centered the wheel again and turned it hard to the left. After that the wheel stayed centered. But, once I started driving again, the wheel pulled hard to the right and I had to repeat the process to get the wheel to center. This most certainly is a steering issue.

At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 100,900. It was later discovered upon checking Google that the mileage was 260,000.

  Info Entertainment System. It was going on and off I took it to Honda and the price was well over $1,200. I have taken my car for maintenance only to Honda and think that at 120,000 miles after I replaced the starter a month before that this car should be working in full condition. I am a senior and now the radio Bluetooth cameras are no longer available. Called Honda customer service to ask for help I know 2013 was the first year they used this system because I have and XL Accord. when I called the Rep she said honda had a Goodwill program and sure they could help me ,then the second girl called and customer service and said please send me your car dealers mechanic price and Diagnostics. I scan them in and sent it to her Next day the third person in customer service called and said oh I'm sorry you are over the 90,000 warranty. But I told her customer service lady number One never said anything about the Goodwill program being s 90,000 mile warrenty. A bulony story. No help either from the email I sent to a Mr Corbin VP vomplaunts. now I have to drive around and as a senior I would like to have my cameras working anda radio. Bluetooth . I have no working camera and all the maintenance I have done on the car I am really upset I do not have any of it and I cannot go very far for example when a family member got very sick I could not travel in dark to that area because the car is not helpful without that connection.. Yes I can use the GPS on my phone but it is ridiculous that now that I have paid this car off that at 120,000 miles I'm going to have to get rid of it and I just can't afford a new one. They should fix it for less than $1,300. As a senior I really need the cameras working and I've never heard of any car without a radio. I know now that the younger cars also have the info system problem on recall. Mine should also be on that recall list. Can you help? I feel they left me rude, without even a sorry or suggestion

  I WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OVER THE STEERING OF THE CAR. IT BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER AND ALMOST RAN INTO ANOTHER CAR. WAS ABLE TO FORCEFULLY TURN THE WHEEL WITH ALL MY MIGHT. PULLED OVER SAFELY AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. BROUGHT BY CAR INTO THE BODE SHOP FOR UNRELATED ISSUES AND THEY EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM WHILE MOVING THE CAR TO ANOTHER LOCATION. THEY WILL BE BRINGING THE CAR TO HONDA SERVICE FOR REVIEW. I AM UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ESPECIALLY WITH MY WIFE AND DAUGHTERS IN THE CAR. *TR

  STARTER FAILURE AT ONLY 45,000 MILES. VEHICLE WILL SOMETIMES START IMMEDIATELY AND OTHER TIMES WILL ONLY START AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPT OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL MINUTES. WHEN THE SYSTEM FAILS, THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH WILL BE ON, BUT THERE IS NOT SOUND COMING FROM THE STARTER.

  HONDA HAS NOTIFIED OF AN ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING TORQUE SENSOR DEFECT WHICH COULD CAUSE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THEY PROVIDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH ONLY RETAINS PARTIAL STEERING CONTROL AND THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STILL BE DISABLED, I WOULD BE STRANDED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE TOWED. I HAVE REQUESTED A REPLACEMENT OF THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY TO PREVENT MY HAVING AN ACCIDENT. THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE SAFETY DEFECT BUT ARE ONLY WILLING TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS IF THERE IS A FAILURE. AFTER DISCUSSIONS, THEY OFFERED TO PAY HALF OF THE COST (APPROX. $500) BUT I CAN'T AFFORD $500. I WOULD LIKE ASSISTANCE IN CORRECTING THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

  VSA, brake, ABS, EPS, tire pressure light always on and won’t go away! I thought there would be enough information about this in the web. There is but, not actual solution. You would have to change out so much and still the lights would come back. Recently, my VSA light coming on and off have made my brakes and something else grind whenever i press on the brakes. To a point where I would need to pull over and hold vSA off button to not have brake grind when pressing on them. There should be enough content to be able to realized that this is a cause and concern for Honda vehicles.

  We were driving on the highway when the vehicle began stalling and failed to accelerate. We pulled onto the shoulder and all of the lights on the dash were on "Check engine, Electric Power Steering light, and low fuel light: The vehicle had half a tank of gas, so it was not a low fuel issue. After a few attempts the car finally started again and began to pick up power. My neighbor who is a certified Acura mechanic, used his diagnostic tool and the error code P0087 popped up indicating a drop in fuel rail/system pressure. This is the first time this has happened to this vehicle. We have serviced it regularly at our local Honda dealer since we purchased the vehicle. We see that there is an active recall for the exact issue we experienced NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:23V-858, however, our VIN number was not included in that for some reason. We feel strongly that the issue is indicative and matches that recall campaign and are requesting this recall be investigated and expanded.

  MY CAR IS MAKING THIS "CLICKING" SOUND WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL. HONDA KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS ON THEIR SERVICE BULLETIN. MY CAR HAS 46,000 MILES ON IT SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR KNOWN BY HONDA! I THINK THIS IS A LOAD OF CRAP.

  2013 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POTENTIAL TRANSMISSION DEFECT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS DEFECT OR MALFUNCTION, WHICH CREATED A SAFETY HAZARD. SPECIFICALLY, IN SOME LOW SPEEDS SITUATIONS, THE VEHICLE LACKED IMMEDIATE RESPONSIVENESS NEEDED TO ACCELERATE OUT OF A TIGHT AND POTENTIALLY UNSAFE SITUATION. THE DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WAS INTERMITTENT. THEREFORE, THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY FIX AND ONLY DESCRIBED IT AS NORMAL OPERATION OF THE CONTINUOUS VARIABLE TRANSMISSION. *JB

  I BOUGHT THIS HONDA ACCORD LX 2013 IN AUG 2012. ABOUT A FEW MONTHS LATER, I NOTICE THE CAR ENGINE OIL LEVEL KEEP DECREASING. THEN I SEE THERE ARE OIL LEAK MARKS AT THE OVERHEAD COVER WHERE IT IS TIGHTENED TO THE ENGINE BLOCK. IN AUGUST 2013, I BROUGHT MY CAR TO NEARBY HONDA DEALER. THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR TWO DAYS AND SAID THEY REPLACED THE GASKET. BUT AFTER ONE MONTH, I STILL SEE OIL LEAKING OUT AT THE SAME SPOT. TODAY, DEC 16, 2013, I BRING MY ACCORD BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO LEAVE MY CAR THERE UNTIL TOMORROW (DEC 17) WHILE THEY ARE ORDERING ANOTHER NEW GASKET. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED A PERSISTENT OIL LEAK HAS HAPPENED WITH A BRAND NEW HONDA ACCORD 2013 !!! I RESEARCH ON LINE AND SEE THIS ISSUE ALSO HAPPENS WITH SOME OTHER 2013 HONDA ACCORD OWNERS. *TR

  While using a curved exit ramp my steering locked and I could not turn the wheel and lost control of ability to steer hitting the curb and damaging both the tire rod and rack steering. I could not turn the wheel to move the vehicle and required a tow to move the vehicle. This was an extremally dangerous situation in where I could have easily been hit by another vehicle or been seriously injured. There was a light that did flash on the dashboard but only for a second. There was no other indication that there was a problem with the vehicle. Honda service has indicated to me they are aware of any issues with steering on my make and model. I have have a substantial repair bill as the vehicle is not drivable.

  The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the steering wheel inadvertently lost power steering functionality. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle by forcefully maneuvering the steering wheel. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the power steering gear box needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000. Updated on 3/6/22: I (contact) own a 2013 Honda Accord. Contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the steering wheel inadvertently lost power steering functionality. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle by forcefully maneuvering the steering wheel. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the power steering gear box needed to be replaced. Honda Dartmouth in Massachusetts let the contact know that the car would fall under Service Bulletin 15-056 Warranty Extension: EPS Torque Sensor (DTC 53-01 or DTC 53-02) as the power steering gear box assembly needed to be replaced but, the car did not pull the code when plugged in. The car VIN number did pull as eligible under this warranty. Contact called Honda manufacturing and they stated they would not do anything for the contact as the car did not pull the code DTC53-01 or DTC 53-02 and that the cost of repair would be at the contacts expense.

  ISSUE WITH PUSH BUTTON START. STARTED EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENTLY WHEN PUSHING BUTTON, CAR WON'T START. TYPICALLY HIT THE BUTTON AGAIN AND CAR STARTS. NOW, HOWEVER, IT IS TAKING A FEW TO SEVERAL TIMES OF PUSHING THE START BUTTON FOR CAR TO START. THIS CAN HAPPEN AFTER BEING TURNED OFF FOR A MINUTE TO OVERNIGHT. THERE IS NO PATTERN. I'VE SEEN THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OWNERS OF THE '13 HONDA ACCORD WHEN I LOOK ONLINE. WHY HASN'T HONDA TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY & ISSUED A RECALL. THIS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU GET STUCK SOMEWHERE & CAR WON'T START. (COPY/PASTE- SAME PROBLEM!!)
