Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Escape vehicles manufactured from October 5, 2011, through July 11, 2012, and equipped with a 1.6L engine. These vehicles have an engine compartment fuel line which may split, resulting in a leak.

Risk: If this leak occurs in the presence of an ignition source, there is an increased risk of a fire and/or personal injury.

Fix: Ford will notify and instruct owners to stop driving their vehicles and contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer to arrange pick-up of their vehicle. Customers will be provided with a rental vehicle if needed. The dealer will replace the engine compartment fuel line, free charge. The recall began on August 10, 2012. Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.

Risk: The short circuits could cause the frontal air bags, side curtain air bags and the seat belt pretensioners to not function as intended when needed, increasing the risk of occupant injury in the event of a crash.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the RCM, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. The recall began on May 26,2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14S21.

  • ENGINECampaign 13V583000 · 25/11/2013

  • POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:FLOOR SHIFTCampaign 18V471000 · 16/07/2018

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Ford Escape, and 2013-2016 Ford Fusion vehicles, equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions. The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission may degrade over time and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to Park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in Park, with no warning message or audible chime.

Risk: If the vehicle is exited without the transmission being in Park and without the parking brake being applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shifter cable bushing, free of charge. The recall began September 20, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Risk: An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.

Fix: Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Risk: A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Fix: Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. • 12/31/2024· POWER TRAIN

The transmission has completely gone out. On this car model, there isn't a dip stick for the owner to check transmission fluid levels. While pulling out of a parking space the car hesitated on going into first gear and then jerked really hard before continuing to move. While still in the parking lot of a retail store, the car continued to hesitate between gears and then a low coolant message appeared. After going to the next store, a large grocery chain, in the same parking lot I proceeded to purchase a funnel that would allow me to top off the coolant, which was barely low to begin with. When I tried backing out of the space to go home, the car hesitated on going into reverse, jerked really hard again and that's when I proceeded to pull the car back into the parking spot at the grocery store and ordered a Lyft to take me and my groceries home. The message "transmission failure" did not come on until I was pulling the car back into the parking space before ordering a Lyft. I had the car towed to my mechanics shop where he proceeded to tell me I would need a new transmission. However, 6 to 7 months prior to that, the car was at the authorized dealer where it was purchased originally from to have the safety recall repair done to the gear shifting cables and bushings, which were replaced. The service worker now informed me that they never checked the transmission fluid levels or any other fluid in the car to make sure that the car was in good condition and ready to drive. Seeing that there is no dip stick for an owner to check the transmission fluid level and the "gear shifting cable" and bushings directly effect the transmission and 6 months later the transmission goes out completely has caused me great concern and duress. I am caring for both my elderly parents and we are now without a car with doctors appointments coming up and their ongoing and increasing medical issues, this has really left us in a huge bind.

  • 12/31/2021· WHEELS

On 12-22-2021during routine vehicle servicing of my 2013 Ford Escape at Mac Haik Ford in Georgetown, TX, Invoice Number 776999, I was told by the Service Advisor that the mechanic was having troubles getting the wheels off to rotate and balance. Sophie Rosa, Service Advisor told me that the mechanic reported the lug nuts on the wheels were swollen and need replacement. She advised that if not replaced it would cause trouble if a flat tire occurred as the Ford issued lug nut wrench would not fit over the swollen lug nuts. I agreed to have the 20 lug nuts replaced at a cost of $5.36 each plus labor. I did not get the defective nuts returned to me. Checking on-line I found that swollen lug nuts is caused by chrome being overlaid on metal lug nuts which cause rust to occur and thereby causes the swelling to occur. This defect is caused by the Ford Company knowing full well that placing two different metals together can cause corrosive and rust problems.

AS I WAS DRIVING I NOTICED MY CAR JERKING GOING IN TO FIRST GEAR. I FIGURED BECAUSE I WAS ON A HILL THAT WAS THE REASON. LATER THAT DAY AS I WAS TRYING TO RUN ERRAND AS I GOT IN THE HIGHWAY MY CAR WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 60 MPH AND WAS AT VERY HIGH RPMS TO MAINTAIN THIS SPEED AND WOULD NOT GO INTO 6TH GEAR. I PULLED OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND STARTED TO MAKE MY HOME TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP. AS I MADE IT TO A RED LIGHT THE CAR JERKED AGAIN WHEN I STOPPED. AS I WENT TO ACCELERATE I MADE IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WHEN MY CAR LOST ALL POWER AND WOULD ONLY REV AS IF IT WAS IN NUETRAL. AFTER TURNING IT OFF AND BACK ON IT RAN WELL ENOUGH FOR ME TO MAKE IT HOME AND I AM CURRENTLY AWAITING MY APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP. I'M AT 63K MILES AND PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 3 MONTHS AGO AND IT HAD ABOUT 50K MILES ON IT. I DRIVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE ECOBOOST. THIS DEFECT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED BEING STUCK IN AN INTERSECTION LIKE THAT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED SEEING THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THIS ISSUE SPEAKING WITH MECHANICS HERE AND THE DEALERSHIP WHO ALL HAVE A NUMBER OF THIS SAME VEHICLE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES.

The car's computer system would not communicate to the car's speakers. This contributed to the radio not working and more importantly, calls not coming through via bluetooth. Phones would connect to the car via bluetooth, but no sound would come through the speakers. This caused a small safety issue, because the driver would have to disconnect the call through the vehicle in order to hear the phone call. A Ford dealership needed to order a new APIM and replace it for the speakers to work again. They were not aware of any recalls for 2013 Ford Escape APIM yet, and there were no messages prior to the speakers not working, all sound just stopped coming through one day. I did read of a couple other instances of the APIM failing in Ford Escapes.

Our 2013 Ford Escape was recently taken in to a Ford Dealership for recall 22s43 transmission shifter cable bushing. The service team performed a replacement of shifter cable bushing, installed a protective cap, and adjusted the shifter as per recall. A few weeks later the transmission fault signal came up on our dashboard and the car would not shift into gear and it had to be towed home. Could the replacement have been faulty or not installed correctly, considering there were no reports of transmission issues when the vehicle was taken in to the dealership.

Had an appointment 12/14 to have my car inspected and an oil change at Carnegie Motors so I told them what happened . I had to get a new tire to pass inspection so had to wait for tht to come in 12/20/21They did their part but called and said it would have to go to the dealership for the steering problem they had removed the battery thinking it would reset itself. Jeff then took it up to Woltz Wind Ford which was about 1 mile up the road - had trouble steering. Because of the holiday and days off they did not get to my car till 12/27 they told me that the Steering Gear box had to be replaced. In researching online I saw that Ford had recalls on 20008 and 2011 for the same problem. My vehicle has41,958 miles on it. Apparently Ford still has the same problem with steering issues The representative just said that parts wear out that I did nothing to cause this problem. I have to get this car repaired to the tune of $2200 plus it is still there will send invoice when I get it. Just glad I was not on the highway when this happened. Definitely a safety issue Obviously the 2013 needed to be recalled as well.

The transmission will sometimes fail to engage immediately after putting the vehicle in drive or reverse. If the driver steps on the gas pedal, the transmission jerks violently to engage. Also while driving, the transmission will have a slight slipping before allowing acceleration. No OBD codes appear and no dashboard warning messages appear. In addition to the transmission problem, I obtained a P0234 and P0299 OBD code. This code is for the turbocharger overboost solenoid, which I had replaced, but the code has returned.

I GOT IT IN PARK AND IT FINALLY RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL IN TO PARKING LOT. IT WAS RAINING AND I COULD SEE A CAR COMING IN BEHIND ME, THANK GOD IT STARTED RIGHT BACKUP AGAIN.
